Had an amazing stay at this hotel celebrating my birthday and Copenhagen Pride. Kind and friendly staff, I had forgot to book breakfast to my room, but Stefan took care of it and gave me a voucher. That is customer service at a high level! Did not expect that at all. The room had an incredible view to Rådhuspladsen. Super comfortable bed, big windows and just over all an incredible experience. Had an excecutive room so had access to the lounge which was incredible as well. The small details as well, a cettle for boiling water, branded soap and amenity kit in the bathroom gives you that extra feeling of lux. Cant wait to come back to this hotel again.

Have stayed at The Square twice now (Dec 2023 and Aug 2025) and found the hotel to have everything we needed.|The location is ideal for a city break, just a short walk from the station and close to a lot of attractions.|We stayed in an executive room and benefited from access to the lounge which was a nice touch. |The room was well equipped, beds were comfortable and a good night’s sleep was had.|A good range of food was available for breakfast and whilst it can get busy at peak times, we didn’t find it to be a problem.|Check in was quick and easy.

We recently stayed here for a week. Amazing location right on the city square. Had a suite overlooking the square. Quite spacious and comfortable. Great staff especially Stefan and Emma. Breakfast was very good and greatly enjoyed the afternoon/evening beer and wine and snacks. I would highly recommend.

Stayed here on my recent visit to Copenhagen and thoroughly enjoyed my whole experience. The Check in was easy and quick and there is always someone on the front desk. I didn't have the hotel breakfast but it did look nice. The room was lovely and clean and perfectly suited our needs with many plugs, a great tv setup and a nice bathroom with lots of space throughout. The location of the hotel was ideal and was only a few steps away from the Radhusplasen metro stop. It is also conveniently located next to a 7/11 shop. Not sure about the price as booked as part of a holiday but overall a brilliant experience and will probably go again if and when I come back to Copenhagen 🇩🇰!

Google
The location is amazing, you are in the middle of everything in Copenhagen. Rooms are correct, som may be slightly small, but it's a hotel so it's okay. The breakfast is amazing, you have a lot of choice between quality products, they don't run out even later in the morning. However, I had a stain in my fridge, I told a receptionist but no one came to clean it. Communication could be improved

Google
I enjoyed my stay here. The location is very central – it’s easy to get around and reach all the main spots in Copenhagen. The room was cozy and nicely decorated. There was some construction work, but the free minibar was a nice touch to make up for it.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at The Square in Copenhagen was extremely disappointing. This hotel seems far more focused on money than on hospitality or customer service.||As another reviewer also mentioned, the air conditioning in my room did not work. Staff came to measure the temperature and confirmed the AC wasn’t functional. Despite this, no solution was offered.||I had booked a room with a square view, but upon arrival I was told the hotel was “sold out” and they could not honor my reservation. When I asked about switching hotels, staff were rude, unhelpful, and flat-out refused a refund. One staff member even got into a heated argument with me, accusing me of being unhappy with “everything in the hotel.”||Housekeeping also left much to be desired — the bed was made incorrectly, and no sheet was provided. When I raised this, the staff argued again, insisting there *was* a sheet, just in the wrong place, as if that excused the problem.||The consistent issue here is the attitude: instead of caring for guests, the staff prefer to argue and prove themselves “right.” The one exception was Stefan, a supervisor, who at least acknowledged my concerns. Still, even he admitted he could only offer a partial refund if I checked out early, with a penalty attached. He explained that the hotel owners are extremely tight-fisted, micro-manage every detail, and simply don’t care about the guest experience.||Overall, I found this hotel to be dishonest and dismissive of customers. I cannot recommend The Square and strongly suggest looking elsewhere in Copenhagen.

Google
Recommend 100%! Best location, across the City Hall, near the Central train station (15 minutes from airport), across the Stroget and very close to museums and other attractions. Very supportive and helpful staff, delicious breakfast - everything very clean. Hope to come again soon!

Yelp
Starting with the (very few) pros, then moving onto the not so great. Good location. Easy bus/train access. Close to tivoli. This was very convenient and the most positive thing about the hotel. Free umbrellas which is nice for the rain. There is a free breakfast but you're in Copenhagen! Get out and try one of the amazing pastry shops. You do have to make a rez for breakfast - not told this but I'm telling you :) Option for an adjoining room which is rare in Europe so nice if you have a family of 4. Ok onto the negatives. The room was very dirty when we checked in. There was blood on the duvet (see pics). And we were NEVER told you had to book a cleaning. So days when by and the room wasn't cleaned. There was dust on day one and a lot of dust (see pics) on the final day - just gross when you're staying for that long. Mold in the shower. And a dirty poop water in toilet scrubber that they just left from the previous I actually gagged at this. Some of the staff was very friendly but some were definitely not. I called to ask for towels and the woman said "yeah whatever" everyone just seemed like they did not want to be there Nothing was done about any of the cleanliness as far as compensation or really even acknowledging. I think they were annoyed I kept finding issues ‍ This hotel is just ok. Definitely shop around before landing on this one.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. It was very central located right across from a metro station and the main city square which has a supermarket and two 7-11s. They have complimentary umbrellas which came in handy since it rained while we were in Copenhagen. The rooms were nice, clean and efficient. I was able to get rooftop lounge access by being a silver Hotels member and that was lovely with free wine and appetizers.

Yelp
This hotel is right across the street from City Hall Square. And a block away from Tivoli Gardens. Check in was a breeze. Great customer service. Breakfast was awesome. Lots of good food to choose from. Breakfast can be busy so get to the lounge early. House keeping is top notch. New towels everyday. Marriott doesn't even do that. If we don't want to be bothered. Housekeeping leaves a bag of clean towels and bathroom tissues outside your room. Plenty of places to eat just a walking distance away. One more thing to add. There's a Covid testing site next door which was convenient for us, because we need to get tested before heading back to US. The line can go around the building and sometimes the entrance to the hotel can be blocked. Overall our stay here was wonderful.

Yelp
TV doesn't work and lukewarm hot water. The bathtub/shower is treacherous. Find another hotel!

Yelp
This is one of the best located hotels and the room was clean. A bit tight but many of the hotels around town are also a bit small. If you're going on tours, most of them leave within a short distance walk. The tourist center is a 5 minute walk. There's plenty of places to eat and shop in the area and it's a really short walk to travoli gardens, which is a must if you have the time.

Yelp
The location is excellent and easy to find from Central Station (about a 6-minute walk). It's close to landmarks (Tivoli Garden, Hans Christian Andersen statue, etc), restaurants, stores, theater, shopping mall and bars. They seem to have quite a fascination with Granny Smith apples (just like me) which can be seen throughout the hotel. The room was nice, quiet and spacious. Wi-fi was free. We stayed here during Eurovision which is a huge deal and all Europeans flock to watch the darn contest. It was quite expensive when we went and room availability everywhere was quite limited.

Yelp
Perfect location right in the middle of the sites with a vibrant food scene and across from tivoli gardens. Rooms are fine from a European standard. Tight but well appointed. Beds are a tad bit too soft but overall fine. Very modern feel with a nice lobby. Breakfast is sparse but for us it was fine. Location is amazing.

Yelp
I enjoyed my experience at this hotel except for 1 aspect. But other than that I had a positive experience. I like that the lobby has cold water available in large glasses with a sign if you want a water bottle filled that they will do it at the bar. There is also a room where you can drop off your bags and luggage. The wifi is great in the lobby and it is complemented with a ton of couches and chairs to sit at. There is a set of couches that are super comfortable that you could practically take a nap at. The rooms are good and they offer adequate amenities. My favorite item is a shoe polisher that I found useful. The staff is super friendly and helpful. There are brochures available in the city that shows things you can do. The elevators are tiny though. The only problem I had was a window in my hotel room that could not close that they weren't able to fix since the maintenance guy already left. So we were woken up early from all the noises outside.

Yelp
For Americans visiting Copenhagen, this hotel was very adequate. The main draw is it's close proximity to Tivoli. Knowing we were going to have dinner, and visit Tivoli our first and second days was the primary reason why I chose The Square. However, we were also in Europe during the worst heatwave Northern Europe has ever seen (July 2018) Being from Texas we love our air conditioning, but The Square has NONE. The lobby was hot, our rooms were hot. Pretty typical for most older accommodations in Northern Europe. The whole continent was hot! We spent a good portion of the first day searching for a fan, which after two hours of searching, yielded nothing. Finding a fan seemed to be the side mission for most of our European tour, but as far as Copenhagen, they were always sold out. The silver lining is the hotel had purchased multiple small fans, so we requested one. That evening our room had a fan set up inside, and the night was manageable, so props to the staff for doing something about that! As I said, the main draw is the location. The same block has many pubs (Irish, Scottish and English, yes all three on the same block!) as well as an Espresso House (which are as frequent as Starbucks is in the USA). There were also a handful of restaurant options, and the area was very walkable. City Hall across the street is also worth checking out. Having buses and a metro station (Vesterport) nearby makes getting around easy to other attractions like the Danish Harbor, Little Mermaid, etc. Probably would not stay here again, just because there are many other hotels nearby to check out. It was also very tricky to unload our luggage from the car (family picked us up from the airport and dropped us off). There was nowhere to park, even temporarily. We had to go around back to a side street to unload and walk a block and a half. Despite that, I have no regrets staying here. The staff providing a fan was greatly appreciated, the room was clean, beds comfortable. Really can't ask for much more (except maybe adding A/C for future exceptionally hot summers that are, sadly, likely to come).

Yelp
Bad service no Ac we check in after 6 hour waiting in the lobby they didn't bring our luggage's we had to carry it to the room I don't recommend this hotel

Yelp
The convenient location of this hotel is one of its largest selling points. You're about a five-minute walk from the central train station, which if you've got a decent amount of luggage with you is a huge plus. The location is really conducive to walking all over the city. We never used the subway, though for some destinations further afield, we did use Uber. It appears to be a rather large sized hotel, with a huge lobby. The check-in process was a little slow as there were a fair amount of people looking to do the same and a limited amount of staff. Once checked in, the room was comfortable. The shower was enormous as compared to overall size of the room. Great water pressure! At night, rooms were quiet, despite being centrally located in the city. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, but is available for an added fee. We did find a great breakfast place nearby (The Next Door Cafe if you're interested), so we didn't find that to be a problem. However, in the event that is something important to you, it's worth noting. Given the location and the reasonably priced rooms, I'd return should I make a return visit to Copenhagen (hope to).

Yelp
Without going into boring details, we arrived at our original hotel, took one look, and high-tailed it out of there for the most awesome-looking boutique/art hotel we could find in the center. The Square was exactly what we needed. My husband and I and our two year old did just fine in what I think was a deluxe room with a pull-out bed, which my son thought was his "big boy bed" and immediately staked out as "his room". That's cool. More space for me on the "big girl bed". My husband slept on the floor. Just kidding. The beds are soooo cozy (unless you like 'em rock hard...then you will be disappointed. These beds are like clouds of cotton balls) and the pillows didn't suck. The room had a big bathroom, ample storage, typical Scandinavian minimalist decor, and a mini bar. Mini bars are important to me. I have a child. I'm basically an borderline alcoholic by default. They also have room service. Equally important. Not great but still...room service. The real draw is location: it's a stones throw from museums, Tivoli, restaurants, shopping, Nyhaven and walking distance to Christiania (let's admit it - if it wasn't a family weekend, you would have known where to find me and it would not have been Tivoli). Also about five minutes from the central rail station so if you're a mom on a mission with mad stroller and suitcase skills, you can make it there in four. Really nice staff, 24/7 "bar" in the lobby (more like some beer on tap and wine by the glass available for purchase but still...), a rooftop terrace, and deep deep bathtubs that can easily fit two even in the non-executive rooms. If you do roll fancy, there is a complimentary lounge for executive guests that sounds awesome. Free (kind of shitty - tether to your 4G) Wifi. I highly recommend this place. Close to everything, great people, and great atmosphere. We loved it. Some people have complained that it's small - it's a moderately-priced boutique-y hotel in the city center. I'm a St. Regis/Four Seasons/W kind of girl sometimes and if you want a villa in the sky then totally book at one of those places. This is more of a cozy, wiggle-around-the-room kind of situation. But we're Scandinavian and live in the center of Helsinki. So this was more or less 3/4 the size of our apartment. Cons: the bedding could be a little nicer and the cleaning service was a little shaky one of the days we were there but I'll chalk it up to a miscommunication on both parts.

Yelp
Pretty good location about a 5 minute walk from the Central train station, I dropped off my bags and went out for some dinner and wandered around alittle. Settled down about 1 to sleep and all I could hear was some mechanical unit right outside, I went down to the lobby to get some ear plugs and I could still hear it some. Anyhow eventually I got some sleep .all in all I'd stay again but not on the first floor

Yelp
Located in the heart of Copenhagen, The Square is an easy walk from the train station and is close to Tivoli Gardens. We stayed here for four nights in a twin bed share on the fourth floor. The room was cleaned daily and there was a range of complimentary toiletries. Everything worked as they said it would and they even let us borrow a travel adaptor free of charge. The staff were extremely helpful in offering suggestions about were to visit and answering all our travel related questions. A man in his 30's with a little beard at reception was always smiling and joking with us. He helped organise the bike hire through the hotel, which was a great way to explore the city. The breakfast is located on the sixth floor is full of natural light and views of the city. On offer is boiled eggs, fresh fruit, cold meats, cheese, cereal and herring. There is also a selection of juices, tea and coffee. Breakfast gets busy quickly, so make sure you get their early rather than later if you want to enjoy a quiet table. The Square isn't lavish, but it is clean, has free wifi and friendly and helpful staff. Best of all, its central location. I would defintatley stay here again.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed in The Square. My wife and I booked two nights at this hotel prior to a cruise in June 2020. Because of the pandemic, NCL cancelled the cruise and Delta cancelled the flight to Copenhagen. I received refunds with both Those companies but the Square refused. They said they reopened the hotel and it wasn't their problem that the flight and cruise are cancelled. I had a "non refundable " reservation. I asked twice for them to reconsider based on what was going on and they refused. We will eventually rebook cruise someday but never will I deal with these folks again!

Yelp
I'm living in Sweden and my family came over for the holidays. We decided to stay three nights in Copenhagen. This hotel was great. The WiFi was included and high speed. We used it in the rooms and the lobby. The breakfast was included and was delicious. On other visits to Copenhagen, for a breakfast of that caliber and quantity, I spent as much as 150 Crowns for breakfast. There were great cheeses, meats, breads, croissants, coffees, juices, yogurts, and more. Yum. The rooms were small, as it goes in European cities, but there was enough room for two in each room. The only complaint we had, was that the beds were a little on the soft side. We were however delighted with how sound-proof the rooms were. The location was wonderful. It is an easy walk from the train station and across the street from the town hall and Tivoli.

Yelp
Very nice hotel with a great staff. Perfect location 1 block from Tivoli and 2 blocks from the Central Station. The lobby is modern and well appointed. The rooms are small (I think if my wife had been there with me we would have been tripping over each other any time we moved). And the view out the window is yuck. Bed is comfortable. Shower is ok but the water pressure is not great. The free breakfast is overpriced. Basically rolls and sliced cold-cuts. The breakfast is why 4 stars instead of 5.

Yelp
Good hotel in fabulous location with some issues First and foremost The Square's location in the heart of Copenhagen - right next to Tivoli Gardens, Frederiksberggade (the pedestrian 'mall'), city hall, and countless restaurants, bars, and other attractions - makes it the ideal hotel to go out and see Copenhagen. It is also great for taking day trips out to the rest of Denmark and Malmo because of the train station nearby. We were also pleased with the comfort of the beds and bath and the availability of connecting rooms - perfect for our family of four. The hotel had a nice, modern feel and the staff was always pleasant (if not necessarily efficient). And right downstairs was a truly fabulous spot to get a light breakfast - Baresso Coffee. In addition to great coffee and pastries, they had Skyr (greek-ish yogurt) and kanelgrod (a yogurt-y muesli). Unfortunately, the hotel did have some issues. To begin with morning breakfast and afternoon drinks are only offered in a prix fixe 'lounge' on the top floor. We are light eaters in the morning so the breakfast made no sense. And it would have cost our family of four about $100/day to get a coffee or soda in the afternoon - because there was no way to get a beverage other than the 'all in' price. This also meant that we didn't have anywhere in the hotel to chat and have a drink with the other members of our travelling party. We had some staff issues as well. Upon arrival the hotel seemed unprepared to deal with the sheer volume of luggage from the many guests checking in. Their one bellman was struggling valiantly but was overwhelmed. Then one day when we got back from a day trip to Roskilde at 4:45PM we were surprised to find that our room hadn't been made. 5 minutes later a housekeeper came into our room and was a bit upset that we were 'still' in our room - she was supposed to leave at 5:00PM. Arranging for transport was something of a misadventure as well - the first woman who I asked assured me that she would book a van for our party of 7 and get back to me. After hearing nothing, I followed up the next day and not only had nothing been done but the front desk had no record of my request. In short, the Square is priced as if it were a full service hotel but it really isn't. But if you want a quirky boutique hotel for a getaway with a loved one in Copenhagen it would be perfect.

Yelp
The Square is okay. It's not fantastic, but it served its purpose. First, one should understand it is a boutique hotel and is much smaller than you would expect. I arrived at midday and went to the room I booked. It was the size of a closet with a view of a dumpster in the back. As I was trying to figure out the WiFi I found a conveniently placed notice that said I could upgrade for just another 1,000 kroner. I immediately exercised this option and didn't regret it. The rooms were clean, modern and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, but the two twin sized comforters on a queen sized bed was a little strange for me. But I was in continental Europe and I got over it. The much touted breakfast upstairs in the morning was a great disappointment. 8,001 types of rolls, salami and head cheese, with a smattering of yoghurt and peppers, buffet style with hungover looking staff that wouldn't talk to you except to demand your room number. My advice is to take advantage of the time change and go EARLY. Otherwise you will not find a table. I know it's their business model, but I wish The Square had an actual restaurant so they could provide room service. They do offer room service, but it's really just take-away from the Australian (?!) restaurant across the street. Now one final issue. It's hard to explain and will sound weird and petty to those who haven't been there, but... The elevators... Why?? They were hard to get into and out of because of a huge heavy swinging door in front of the actual elevator door. The elevator would arrive, you'd reach for the door and then get smacked in the face by the person exiting. Overall, I really enjoyed my whole trip to København and want to return as soon as possible. I will however select a hotel with more amenities that is perhaps not in the middle to Danish Times Square. So, to sum up, I gave The Square 3 stars because the amenities were lacking. However it was clean, comfortable, stylish and I had nothing stolen and I didn't get bed bugs.

Hugh O.

Yelp
Excellent hotel perfect location, clean and staff are very good great breakfast every morning included great way to start a day in this a beautiful friendly city the wifi is free and fast, I'm using it to post review

Mark A.

Yelp
No restaurant and they charge for breakfasts. Never heard of a Danish hotel that charged extra for breakfast. Rooms are tiny and the amenities are few. The good location doesn't make up for the other problems. Avoid it.
