Questionable business practice|As a senior executive for multiple companies, I do not write reviews. However, due this perceived egregious, unethical and questionable business practice by the Preferred Hotel & Resort group, I am compelled to write this review of The Square Milano and Preferred Hotels & Resorts.|I have stayed at The Square Milano 3 times for both personal and business travel in the past 4 years. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Milan with easy access to other parts of the city and I rather enjoyed my stays and recommended it to family, friends and business associates. On this occasion, our corporate travel agent booked a flexible rate for 3 nights for September 2025 at a nightly rate of $825.00/night. I also personally booked the same nights and flexible rates without realizing that it was booked by the agent.|When my partner checked in and realized that it was not the room that I booked the reservation was cancelled. My partner was not told that there was a double reservation at check in. I expected to receive a 1 night penalty as per the hotel’s policy. Instead, I was offered a 1 night stay with expiry December 31, 2025. When I protested as I had no plans to return to Milan, the offer was extended to December 31, 2026. I have been back and forth with the hotel manager who has steadfast refused to honor their own policy.|I wanted this review to serve as a warming to other prospective guests that in my opinion this hotel and the Preferred Hotels and Resorts group have questionable business practice and unethical people. Beware – do not book this hotel.||Their cancellation Policy:|Flexible rate|Payment terms|The given credit card is only to guarantee this reservation. The Hotel reserves the right to proof that the card has sufficient funds and to cancel the reservation in case the card will be not covered. The payment of the stay will be requested at the check in. If the booker would like to prepay for this reservation, we invite you to contact us at reservation@deicavaliericollection.com for sending a payment link.|Cancellation policy|The reservation can be cancelled within 16.00 the day before the date of arrival. In case of cancellation after the deadline or no show, the cost of the first night will be charged as a penalty directly to the credit card provided as guarantee, without the need for further authorization from the customer.

I would not strongly recommend this hotel despite some positives, because the ending of the stay can be unexpectedly disappointing. They do not seem to care about the final impression left on the guest. Our experience started reasonably well. Although the room size was small, it was acceptable, fairly clean, and room service was excellent. However, the main issue lies in the hotel’s front desk service and policies. I faced a serious situation when my wife became unwell and we were delayed at the clinic that night. I returned to the hotel in the morning and needed extra time to organize our belongings for check-out. I informed the staff clearly and requested some flexibility. Upon leaving, I was surprised to be asked to pay an additional late check-out fee on top of the already high room rates. They initially demanded €100. I refused, discussed the matter with them, and the amount was then reduced to €70. This alone indicates that the charge was arbitrary and based on personal discretion rather than a clear, consistent policy. I explained my personal and humanitarian circumstances, yet poor handling and weak management led to no proper resolution. I paid the amount and left with a very negative impression—one that prevents me from returning or recommending this hotel again.

First, when you make a reservation at this location, be aware that the same property is shared with the Hotel Del Cavalieri. Be sure to specify “Hotel The Square” to your taxi driver to be taken to the right entrance (which is on the other side of the block).||This is a up-to-the-second modern hotel. The room was stylist with beautiful fittings, a strangely-located TV in the middle of the room, a comfortable bed, good pillows, and a bathroom with a bidet. ||Our room had a balcony with a nondescript forgettable view. Like a lot of hyper-modern rooms, this one had poor lighting overall.||Fragrance-sensitive people beware: the bathroom amenities are highly-scented and may trigger a reaction if you are sensitive. There are no fragrance-free options.||The hotel’s location is superb, just steps from the Duomo and in an upscale and safe area filled with stores and restaurants.||Recommended.

The hotel location is great - the cathedral is maybe a three minute walk, and there is easy access to the metro and tram system. |We stayed for a long weekend in the junior suite. There is a privacy wall between the two beds (one is a sofa bed) and the room was beautiful. Lots of storage and hanging space. Took a while to figure out the lights which are a touch pad system rather than switches. |The hotel were very helpful with taxis and information. |The roof top bar is nice - at certain times there is a minimum spend of 23 € on your first drink. Good views. |Breakfast was great, lots of choice of cereal, pastry, fruit, scrambled eggs, bread etc. my husband had one of the menu items (small charge) and it was lovely. |The staff were very friendly and cheerful. |Would 100% recommend, we looked at so many hotels and kept coming back to this one so booked it and I’m glad we did.

Centrally located. Very sharp reception area. Friendly check in. Money exchange noted on website but unable to change Swiss francs to euros. Room large and comfortable. Excellent beds. Good bathroom with walk in shower. We were "warned-ONE FREE BOTTLE OF WATER PER DAY." Seemed a bit chintzy considering cost of room. Front desk staff unwilling/unable to help with reasonably priced airport transportation. Hotel wants to charge 170 euros for use of their transport system. Taxi only 114. A BIG negative. Breakfast well stocked and service decent.

The Square Milan |An ideal hotel, located less than 5 minutes walk to the Duomo is the ideal for your Milan stay. Exceptional staff with a very friendly attitude made the stay. Large and well decorated rooms , this hotel has a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Comfortable beds with a range of pillow choices , well lit bathroom and our room had a small balcony allowing fresh air and a place to sit outside . Easy walk to a range of local restaurants and the Duomo allow you to explore Milan so easily. Breakfast was a large buffet with every type of option from cooked breakfast to traditional European continental . Coming back to Milan ? .. I’d stay at The Square without hesitation .

very good choice for a stay in centre of Milano in a good walking distance to the Duomo and shopping area as well as to Parco Sempione and even Brera district. Reception very friendly and helpful. The room was bright and very clean and not noisy, we stayed on the fourth floor. A very good choice at the breakfast buffet. Our thanks go to Georgia for the good tips for restaurants, which we did appreciated. |Roof top bar too expensive for what you get.|We would be happy to return to this hotel whenever we would decide another Milano trip.

Excellent, in the centre of Milan. Rooms very large. Staff was excellent and always helpful. Breakfast buffet spread was great too. No room to complain. |They have rooftop bar- don’t miss going there in the evening (even if you haven’t booked a table), the views and vibes are amazing from there.||Location : it’s in the centre of Milan. Walking distance (about 4 to 5 minutes max) to Milan Cathedral and also the shopping street. About 10-12 minute drive to the Central Station and 45 minute drive from the Malpensa Airport
