Went here with my mum who was visiting from out of town -- heard good things and their website says they use organic, local produce and had gluten free options (we are both very gluten intolerant)
TLDR -- terrible service, rubbish food, stay away if you are GF/have food sensitivities.
We ordered all gluten free dishes or requested the gluten free option, and an almond chai latte with honey instead of sugar, the waitress wrote it all down and went away. 20 minutes later she came back and said she was off her shift and was passing us over to someone else. another 5 minutes passed and the new waitress came by and said they had no almond milk for the chai, which means they hadn't even started it yet. Then she comes back again saying we have to pay for our meal before it even arrived because... reasons? We reluctantly paid.
The chai arrived it with sugar in it, with a pot of "honey" on the side (it was nearly as runny as water -- so I am doubtful it was even honey, even though they charged me an extra 50 cents for it)
Now let me first say here that if I eat gluten, I have a very bad reaction. So I am very careful when eating out because I have had a few mishaps and I'm the one that gets to suffer if someone else makes a mistake.
So, when the food finally arrived, we confirmed with a now third waiter that everything was gluten free -- he insisted it was. He then came back a few minutes later to inform us that part of it was GF, and the other part wasn't... AFTER my mother had started eating. We told him we had ordered the GF option and he said oh the waitress didn't tell him -- and too bad, he wouldn't do anything about it. He then brought out the second dish my mum ordered and said "oh, this isn't gluten free either, do you still want it?" We looked at him astonished, and with no apology and looking annoyed, he took it away. My dish, the thai salad, was "remarkably gross" (my mum's apt words) -- covered in way too much sauce, too salty and the chicken was a bright pink colour and looked like it came from a can. Nothing about the food was fresh, local or organic.
At this point we couldn't eat any of the food and we asked to see the manager -- credit where credit is due they did give us a refund.
We left and went to Bread in Common and had a fabulous meal that was all gluten free.
I won't be going to the Stables again.
It's totally cool if you don't want to cater to people with food sensitivities. But if you do, don't f*ck around like this -- you can make people really sick.
