The Stagg Inn

Had an evening meal for my nans 80th birthday. The stag inn is beautiful, lots of lovely details. The food was excellent, quality outstanding, everyone who attended shared how enjoyable the meal was, some dietary needs within our group, host attentive and able to change items to fit the needs. The staff are extremely welcoming and made me nan feel extra special. Would 100% return. I have no negative to highlight. Thank you so much for such a lovely evening.

We had such a special evening at The Stagg Inn. The staff made us feel so welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The bar area is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful wood burning stove. The food was absolutely incredible with beautiful fresh and local produce. My partner and I normally get the whole "food envy" experience whenever we go for dinner, but on this occasion both of our meals were absolutely perfect. We are very much looking forward to coming back again. Thank you to all the wonderful staff there, you all made it a very special birthday for my partner.

Fabulous meal here at the weekend, well worth the money. I had devine lobster and frites, a lovely treat. The atmosphere was just right, with plenty of people around in the restaurant and bar, the Host/Manager was attentive and welcoming. The menu, although not huge - a good thing - has something for everyone, and I saw some super food being presented to my guests as well to other tables. Highly recommended and I will definitely be going back there very soon.

We have visited numerous times for dinner, since Lisa and Keith took over, but not for Sunday lunch. This was our first experience as two couples on a Sunday.|WOW….. just simply amazing!! Food brilliant, flavours amazing, value for money superb. Service as ever wonderful from all of the staff, much appreciated for looking after us.|Quite simply all agreed that it was the best Sunday lunch anyone could remember.|Thank you so much, fully recommend both evening dinner and a Sunday visit, you won’t be disappointed, particularly in a world where everything feels more expensive , so value for money is even more important.|Can’t wait to return very soon.

We had a fantastic family meal here in August 2025. The food was really good and the wine list has a really good selection. The waiting staff were really friendly and looked after us extremely well. I would really recommend it.||We used to visit the Stagg a long time ago when it was the first Michelin stared pub and that was a fantastic meal, however I would say I prefer the Stagg under its new ownership and team. The food is really good and approachable, without being obsessed with Michelin style food detail. Overall, I found a team that wants to give you the best experience (food, location, wine, service) versus the food focused version of before.

We were on holiday near Kington, found The Stagg Inn online, liked the sample menu and were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by the staff on arrival and shown to our table. The restaurant felt cosy and warm, with lots of mirrors on one wall, chandeliers and nice furnishings. |The menu was varied and it was difficult making a choice, but my husband and I both went for the fillet steak tartare, which was nicely prepared, spicy and an ample portion. For main course, my husband had the free range duck breast and I had a "surf and turf" with a fillet steak and half a Scottish, pot-caught lobster. My husband said his duck was well cooked and very tasty. My fillet steak was among some of the best fillet steaks I have had in restaurants, cooked rare, very tender and with an exceptionally nice flavour. The lobster was also very tasty.|We decided that a dessert each was too much, so we shared a raspberry meringue, which was large.|The price was very reasonable for the quality of food we had, and the staff were attentive and very friendly.|This was a good holiday find, although it would be nice if this restaurant was a little closer to our home.|We would definitely recommend.

Great food surprisingly good value in welcoming, stylish surroundings. Tables are not too close together unlike many such places, plenty of parking and wonderful staff. Very pleasing lunch and highly recommended 👌

Simply the best restaurant in Herefordshire! Great service, gorgeous wines and food to die for.

Nice place to find on a walk. A few seats for a beer for walkers, but this is a gastro pub. They don't sell packets of crisps, but they'll cook you some for £1.50, if they'd been friendlier and I'd have seen the little sign on the bar, behind the locals, I might have got some. We meant to return in the evening as the food looked good and at the best part of £20 a plate, it should be. Another reason not to return was, I'm not spending that money on a eight year old, to find she doesn't like it. Do a kids menu, Oh and if they do, let us the punters know.

its a restaurant folks and, round this area, a pretty good one. was michelin starred and maybe still is. 3 courses will set you back £70-80 but try the 3 mini brulee dessert; its one of the best around. Service is ok but the hospitality is a bit frosty. I've eaten here 5 or 6 times and my food has always been top notch. Suffers a little from exclusive customer syndrome but see past that and its a goody.
