The Star Inn - Treoes

It was our first visit to The Star Inn. We were a party of 10. We couldn't fault the service or the food. The Sunday lunch was enjoyed by us all. I ordered the lamb which was extremely tender and tasty and came with an ample supply of delicious fresh vegetables .Would definitely recommend and will make a point of visiting again when we return to Bridgend.

I had arranged a wake at The Star Inn following my brother-in-law's funeral. The staff at the Star were excellent, and the choice of food was wide. The quality of the food on the day was very good, although we over-ordered, as it is always difficult to gauge how many people will attend a wake. The remaining food was neatly packed into boxes by the staff, and gladly shared amongst leaving guests. Well done to the Star....they did us proud.

Polite welcome and promptly seated. Food was ‘Nice’. Beef portion was a little less than expected, and a little less tasty than previous Sunday lunches elsewhere. Yorkie and veg OK. Sticky Toffee pudding was excellent. Enough food to feel full.

I had the lamb and roasties with sticky pudding and proper custard. The lamb was very tender and cooked perfectly, the roasties were crispy and soft inside. The vegetables were fresh and steamed for a short time with slight salt. The service was friendly and wasnt noisy.

We had a warm welcome and were lucky enough to sit by the log burner which was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food portions were generous and very tasty too. We would definitelt come back!

A lovely afternoon lunch. My wife and I visited this afternoon and were truly impressed with the food and service. I had the venison pie and it was one of the nicest pies I’ve eaten for a long time. I also ordered a side of onion rings and I was not disappointed. My wife had a beetroot and falafel ciabatta and again it was delicious. Wonderful atmosphere and service was great. We will definitely return

Lovely food but thought the waiter would come to the table to take the drink order when everyone got there but they didn't, we had to go to the bar to order drinks. There was 7 of us. Went for the Christmas quiz, good atmosphere.

Returned to this once loved venue with non-local friends for lunch. Given the few other patrons present, the food seemed to take an excessive time to arrive. One of my party suffers from several acute allergies and she took the trouble to contact in advance to check availability of suitable food. On arrival it seemed they had not considered her communication. While the food was good, I cannot understand how a single strand of broccoli counts as "vegetables". (They could purchase a head of broccoli for pennies). We want to keep pubs open and we spend serious money in the process but you really need to improve your performance and that includes adequate heating.
