Checked into STATE ROOM [DT San Rafael] for some after-work bites & drinks w/ friends *CHEERS*
No wait when we arrived. Night was winding down & not busy, came just before closing on a Wednesday Night.
A party of 3, the host escorted us back. We were going to be positioned near a window & another table where a couple was seated, enjoying their meal. I knew my group wanted to have conversation & would be on the talkative or loud side. To prevent from being disruptive, I asked if we could be seated in a both.
We were allowed a booth but when asking about the first or second both, was told they had "reservations coming in" & that these would be saved for these reservations. No one ever came & we were seated near the back of the restaurant. That'll teach us to ask for specific seating. "Reservations" never came.
Our server was kind but customer service felt a little off as if she were intimidated by the table or was anxious to leave for the night, not sure which it was.
Onto the food! *Yum*

Commentary: This pizza had really good flavors. Crust had a great texture thin to medium thickness. I wished there was a little less char but still good. The savory meats were complimented by its perfectly balanced spice level. I really liked the element of the honey to add some hints of sweetness tied it all together.

Commentary: Love the chop/texture on this salad making great for the perfect bites. I enjoyed the balance of ingredients between crunchy, fresh, savory, & tangy. House-made ranch was creamy & well portioned in the toss. I always love a pickled element & these pickled onions were the perfect bits of tang while savoring this salad.

Commentary: I've got mixed feelings about these. Flavor was good & I could appreciate the texture of the batter, had there been a little less of it. There was also a variety of sizes of the wings, some bigger drums & small flats with lots of breading. Not horrible but not my favorite.
I'm going to assume this was an off night for the crew & that if I come in, well before closing, maybe I'll have a different experience.
I'd be willing to give this place another shot because the food was pretty good.
