Great pub. Lovely home cooked food. Not a massive menu but seems better for it. Lots of fish dishes , lobster sandwich , fish and chips , pie of the day , soup of the day etc. Well worth a visit . You can stay here but we didn't. We just visited for the day. Glad we popped in for lunch. Note the opening times for the restaurant it's not open all day. Definitely recommended 👍

Five Star Plus. Absolute gem of a place. We stayed two nights, midweek. We had a large room with amazing view over the harbour. The room was well equiped with all that was needed. Worth mentioning is the very good shower. The hotel has a lovely bar serving not only locally spirits but their own craft beer, available in styles to suit all comers. The restaurant sevice is a stand out. Food of a quality and presentation that is hard to match anywhere. An unforgettable culinary delight. The staff throughout the hotel, bar, and restaurant were all exceptionally nice. While there is not much other than the view and atmosphere to the town itself, the Steam packet is relaxing base from which to explore the area.

The hotel is comfortable and well kept. The room was clean and quiet. I had a good evening meal and enjoyed the continental breakfast (good homemade bread!). The staff were welcoming and helpful and able to store my bike securely overnight. Good roads for cycling here. I’m happy to recommend staying here and would happily do so again

We booked three nights last weekend and arrived around 15.00hrd on the Friday. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We were booked in right away and shown to our room. The room was at the front of the hotel, spotlessly clean and spacious with a king size bed and a small sitting area overlooking the bay.|There was more than enough room for all our clothing for a long weekend stay.||Once we got settled we went down to the main bar, got a drink each and sat on the tables / benches right beside the sea.||The food was VERY good over the 3 nights. Although it was very busy on the first night and the staff apologised that there may be a delay in getting our meals, we were served within 20 minutes.||The drink selection was excellent with beers for all tastes (the real ale particularly).||Breakfast was continental but with really nice staff in attendance and being helpful.||All in all well worth the money.||One more mention ahs to go to the staff and owners. Helpful, polite and a great sense of humour.

Messaged this pub to book a table for 2 and they messaged back very quickly to say it was booked. When we arrived we were shown to a great table in the restaurant with a window looking out over the harbour The service & attention were first class. The menu wasn’t vast but there was more than enough choice. I opted for the Duo of beef & my wife got the Venidon, being a Sunday these were the Sunday roasts, served with a large Yorkshire pudding & the accompanying vegetables were to die for. We deliberately didn’t get a starter as we wanted to try a sweet. I got the Eton Mess ( with Cream o Galloway ice cream) & my wife got the Panacotta. Both were absolutely gorgeous. Overall a great pub with excellent food & pleasant polite staff. If you want great food visit here when you’re in the Isle of Whithorn. You won’t be disappointed (check opening & serving times before you go to avoid disappointment.

A fantastic Sunday set price roast. A beautifully presented salmon starter, a duo of beef for Mrs R and roast venison for me then cranachan to finish, locally brewed beer, perfect. Very reasonable price, good service, lovely views over the harbour, excellent.

Absolutely fantastic pub. Huge range of their own excellent beers, great food, dog friendly and in a stunning location. Highly recommended.

The food here was to die for. My partner has dubbed them the best onion rings she's had, and the chips were the best I'd had. This says a lot considering all we ordered was indeed, chips and onion rings. Lovely to sit on the water and eat with the friendly locals. Staff were really friendly too 😊

Yelp
The Steam Packet Hotel is a great place to eat out. We are local so havent stayed in the hotel side of it, but the resturant is lovely. We came for a meal for my mums Birthday back in June. (Me, my husband, my two toddlers & baby, and my mum) The resturant is nicely laid out, smart and welcoming but not too posh. Alastair the owner? manager? was brilliant. He Waited on us perfectly, had a laugh with my 1.5 year old who kept wanting to offer Alastair food as he went past. Not even a hint of disapproving of us turning up with 3 wee children in tow! They gave us a wonderful big jug of iced water, and a selection of nibbles, rolls and dip to be getting on with while we waited for our meal. The bread rolls were scrumptious! I bet they were homebaked, certainly not like something out of a supermarket packet. My mum had the steak and it was absolutely gorgeous so she tells me. It was a decent portion size, and was cooked to perfection just like she asked. My husband had a curry and again a decent portion for the money, he loved his meal too. Kids loved their sausage meal, proper sausages too not cheapy rubbish. Now im the fussy one and there wasnt anything on the menu to my taste, as im not a big meat or fish person. There was nothing like a baked potato on the menu(yes ok so you cant take me anywhere, all the posh nosh and i wanted a spud and cheese lol). However Alastair was most acoomodating and managed to get the kitchen people to rustle me up one, if only 'Jim'll fix it' listened to my wishes as well as the Steam Packet staff did lol! The potato didnt disappoint, it was yummy. We enjoyed our meal and left happy and with full tummies. We will definately be back (though perhaps hubby should leave me at home with a spud in the microwave next time for embarrasing them heehee!)

Yelp
We live locally so never stayed in the hotel but have visited the pub and restaurant many times. Its a very relaxed and friendly place to dine and extremely child friendly, great when you have 5 children! And you can't beat having a drink on the harbour on a nice sunny afternoon (scotland DOES have sunny days occasionally!). I have had a variety of the foods off the menu and not one complaint to be had. Highly recommended.
