25 Restaurants Where Corkage Is Under $15

"If you’re like us, and spend a lot of time wondering what kind of restaurant Buffy the Vampire Slayer would open up with a few hundred thousand dollars and a prime Beverly Hills location, The Stinking Rose is the answer. Part Italian restaurant, part haunted house, and part lifehack garlic peeling video, The Stinking Rose has everything you want from a place named after the “pungent herb,” including a non-existent corkage fee." - kat hong

Burma Love Rationing Signature Tea Leaf Salad Due to Supply Chain Issues - Eater SF

"Today is the first day of the rest of the Stinking Rose’s life. As first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the too-weird-to-live and too-weird-to-die North Beach restaurant, known for its highly garlic-infused menu, began operating out of 430 Columbus Avenue, rather than 325 Columbus Avenue, where it’s doled out the smelly goods since 1991." - Paolo Bicchieri

So yummy and fun! A really enjoyable experience, great food and great fun people watching and being in such a lively restaurant. Bagna Calda was awesome, very mild and an original version of garlic bread. Servings were the perfect size. Wait staff were super kind and attentive. They bust butt working really hard to keep everything running smoothly- super impressive! My only complaint was that it was colder inside upstairs than it was outside on a windy night. I would’ve ate outside if I’d known it was so cold inside. Otherwise an amazing time!

If you don't like garlic, pick somewhere else to eat! The food has a garlic flare, and everything we ate was good. Service could have been better. We sat upstairs, and it was noticeably warmer than downstairs. It's a fun place to eat, and you should spend a few minutes looking at the decor. They have a small selection of beer, but they do have a full bar. We spent $750+ for 10 people.

This place is so much fun. The garlic gimmick is a blast, but it's more than a gimmick, it's delicious. The interior feels like a cozy, family run pizza parlor. Not fussy but full of so much heart. Black and white tile floor, garlic hanging from the ceiling, and neon lights everywhere. The service was attentive, friendly, prompt. We ordered drinks and they were on the table in five seconds, I swear. It shocked me. The bread was fluffy and delicious, the garlic appetizers were a great starter, and the mains were nice and really highlighted the garlic flavor. The standout was the short rib ravioli in Alfredo - and the star wasn't even the short rib, it was the perfectly creamy and garlicky sauce. We finished with the Gilroy Garlic ice cream which... Honestly was pretty good! The garlic was subtle up front but you feel the allium in the throat between bites. A cool sensation, and really overall a pleasant dessert, surprisingly! Check it out - the garlic is more than a gimmick at the Stinking Rose.

The Stinking Rose is a well established restaurant in San Francisco. I slipped minutes before close on a busy weekend, and were welcomed by great hospitality by the manager. We tried their Bagna Calda (garlic and bread), mussels and shrimp on a hot skillet, and garlic ice cream. As a garlic fan, this meal hit the spot. If you’re looking to celebrate a birthday here, do it! The wait staff sing in a roaring unison the birthday song to make sure the entire room knows you’re part of the birthday group!

SERVICE IS SPOT ON! The food is served quickly and with care. The roasted garlic is awesome….extra bread is a must. There are so many things that make the Stinking Rose a mandatory stop when you visit San Fran. This is truly an authentic staple to the Little Italy of SF. Don’t be shy…..you will stink, but its so worth it.

Overpriced & under seasoned... the concept of a Dracula themed kind of Restaurant is kind of cool but at the same time this fails so miserably in so many ways. The $50 Count Vladimir Steak is bland and flavorless watery mashed potatoes overcooked steak such a disaster. & disappointment. You would think being that you are in San Francisco you have no gluten-free bread or gluten-free options for people who would actually want to enjoy this food. And I hope you speak Spanish because nobody here speaks English so communication is going to be difficult for most. The concept is incredible unfortunately the food falls very very flat. The flavors I had on my steak were so bland and just weird broken oily sauce made no sense whatsoever and parsley which I absolutely hate spread all over my meat. My son ordered the ravioli which was clearly store-bought Frozen and cooked so not fresh though they advertise it as fresh. Very disappointing for my gluten-free guests because all they can have is a salad. My brother ordered the lasagna which he seemed to enjoy quite a bit. My younger son ordered the cheese pizza which I must say as somebody who makes pizza it was not very good. No flavor at all basic marinara sauce. I wanted the whole experience but the meal was so bad I just had to get me the heck out of here. What really is just awful it took us 6 1/2 hours round trip to drive to San Francisco to honor my brother for a promotion he received at work. So when you finally get out of the city which takes forever and I mean forever. Sadly all you can think about is how horrible the experience was at The stinking Rose.

We haven’t been to the Stinking Rose for years, so we were excited to see if it was as good as it was when we used to frequent the restaurant. It did not disappoint!! We had a reservation which made a huge difference. The service was fantastic. The appetizers and entrees were amazing. The decor and the atmosphere enhanced the experience even more. All of the restaurant staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The Stinking Rose is a “must try” if you are in the North Beach area of San Francisco!

Amazing and did not disappoint. Food was great and the waiter was amazing. The garlic ice cream sounds crazy but it's actually very subtle but good.

Yelp
Had a nice solo lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. I was seated promptly at a small corner table and greeted by very attentive service, which was great throughout my entire meal. Someone always made sure my water was topped off and checked in not too much but just the right amount. A place where they make everything with an insane amount of garlic they also have a unique decor to go with the theme. Definitely a sight to see. I ordered the sea bass with rose garlic lemon sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. The sea bass was wonderfully cooked and the sauce, despite being a strong garlic sauce, didn't overpower the fish. I wasn't a fan of the texture of the mashed potatoes but the garlic flavor was very savory. I wanted to try the garlic ice cream with chocolate shell but not commit to full dessert size 3 scoops! So the waiter let me have one scoop on the house! It's a unique combination but the garlic didn't overpower the ice cream. The chocolate helped cut the savoriness of the ice cream to make it feel like a dessert. As a sucker for cheesecake, I ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake for my full dessert. The cheesecake was rich and creamy. It came with an espresso power dusted whipped cream which was good but not needed. It took a way from the cheesecake and crème brûlée notes. The Stinking Rose is definitely somewhere I'd eat again. They have lots of things in the menu, from seafood, to pasta, to steak, and chicken. For garlic lovers, it's a must try establishment!

Yelp
Loving their new location as their outdoor patio reminds me of Paris on a sunny day. Their cioppino & sea bass has always been my premier choice with their seafood never being overdone, retaining it's bouncy flavor profile. Pro tip: Order extra bread with their garlic, relish green sauce Thank you Jose for the wonderful service. As soon as I parked my car, he got me a table under 1 minute!

Yelp
I have not been here for years so I was excited to see that they had re-opened. I made an appointment, but knew that I was going to be late due to a traffic incident on the way there. I called to check if being late would be ok, and did not hear any concerns. When we arrived, we were almost 30 minutes late due to the incident. We ended up getting yelled at by the check-in staff. They said there was a 10 minute window for being late, which was not communicated to us at all, and especially not when we had called just an hour before. We would not have wasted time sitting through traffic if we had known that there was a 10 minute window and we really did not appreciate getting yelled which was uncalled for.

Yelp
Garlic lovers will feel right at home at The Stinking Rose. We met friends from out of town, and the restaurant's garlic-themed décor and menu lived up to expectations. We started with Bagna Caldo, a rich garlic-infused olive oil with fresh bread, followed by garlic-stuffed dumplings and mussels, both flavorful but not particularly unique. For entrées, we chose chicken Alfredo and fettuccine in garlic sauce, both delicious, with the garlic sauce being a standout. The service was fast and attentive, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. This restaurant stays true to its theme, offering a fun dining experience with bold flavors--just be prepared for plenty of garlic!

Yelp
Drove from LA just to visit SF & try this place ! Yes 6 hours and it was worth it. It's my girlfriend's favorite spot so for her birthday weekend we had to make a stop here. We got the Italian Garlic Pot Stickers (8/10) Filet mignon (9/10) Garlic chicken (9/10)

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try this spot! I am a garlic giiiirl and this place did not disappoint with the food and ambience. I know it can sound touristy but, let's normalize that for certain establishments like this one. They deserve it.

Yelp
I haven't been back to this place since they've closed down and now reopened across from its previous location... up until last night. Booked a table on Resy for 6 people a couple of days before. Everything was pretty much open and there was no wait either once we got there. We were immediately sat down. A garlic lover's paradise is an understatement. Food was excellent. I recommend the Bagna Calda, Caesar Salad (i know! But it was one of the best I've had), the potstickers (who knew?! at an Italian Restaurant??) Cioppino - IMO was excellent, but it not having much broth was a bit of a disappointment. Torte - my favorite dessert amongst the 3 we got Tiramisu - light and yum Misses: Ribeye - nothing special about it Seafood Fettuccine - literally the Cioppino with noodles All the servers were all nice and friendly. The place has a good vibe! Food 4.5/5 Service 5/5 Parking situation -5/5 lol All in all. Loved it! I don't know why it averages 3.5. Definitely a must try SF restaurant.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years. I'm sorry to say it wasn't a stellar experience. Host was cold and unfriendly. We had a reservation but were seated in the back corner. Even though the 2 top on the window sat empty our entire meal. I was excited to get the garlic chicken, but I can't have potatoes on my diet. Was informed that they don't have any vegetables in the restaurant that I could sub in. None at all. So opted for the shrimp and a salad. The garlic shrimp skillet was ok. Not very garlicky. And the arugula salad was pretty basic. The garlic vinaigrette again, wasn't very garlicky. And was over $40 for both items. All around a pretty disappointing experience.

Yelp
What a great experience. Love the quirky ambiance. Was seated quickly. Ordered a salad to share and the bag a calda app (hot garlic in oil). Both arrived quickly and were delicious. Our waiter was really attentive and answered all our questions. The filet was amazing and cooked perfectly and the pasta with an abundance of crab was amazing. We definitely want to go back another time!

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a weekday evening and were seating immediately. The holiday decorations and trinkets among the high ceilings were worth it more than the food itself in my opinion. We ordered the Bagna Calda, Burrata Prosciutto, Sea Bass, Gnocchi with Garlic Brie & Mushroom Sauce, and Fettuccine with Tomato Alfredo Sauce and Chicken. While the portions were filling, we had hoped for more for the price and quality. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs and poured our water often. My personal favorite was the burrata prosciutto, but I wished for more prosciutto with the dish. The meat options were limited with the pasta and the pizza, and both required adding meat for an additional fee. Overall, I had an okay experience at this restaurant and may try it in the future again.

Yelp
Food was okay, definitely garlicky, however I do feel like you are coming here mostly for the gimmick. My family really likes garlic though and we wanted to try this place. Being in North Beach, expect parking to be a nightmare. They also sat us 15 min late for our 6pm reservation and according to my husband the drinks are the bag weren't that great. My parents enjoyed it and the restaurant was really on theme with the garlicky vibe.

Yelp
Super yummy italian spot especially for any garlic lovers. I am usually not someone who craves Italian often, but man this place got me hooked. The garlic spread with bread and the ravioli with red sauce/garlic here were amazing. We came here for a double date night and the vibes were immaculate. Service was fast once seated. Just make sure to make a reservation as I am not sure how walk ins would look like especially on the weekends.

Yelp
If you love garlic, this place should be on your bucket list. I was lucky to get a seat right away as it's always packed each time I pass by this place. The service was excellent. The ambiance reminded me of an Italian speakeasy. The quirky vibes kinda drew me in here. For starters, definitely try the Bagna Calda. It comes with bread and generous amounts of roasted garlic-infused olive oil. I love how it spreads like butter. The gnocchi was good, pretty forgettable since I had better elsewhere. My only regret was not trying the garlic martini and their garlic ice cream. I had gelato around the corner beforehand since it was a 95+ degree day. If I'd known about the garlic ice cream, we would have saved room for it. Honestly, I wouldn't mind coming back here to try new items or getting 2+ orders Bagna Calda as the main dish.

Yelp
Overpriced and such a tourist trap. Their desserts were yummy but the pasta dishes were incredibly small portions. The appetizers, like their bruschetta, were good but nothing to rave about. I also remember the food for our table coming out incredibly fast--which made me feel like it was all preset for the night. For me, that's gross. Their staff were very attentive, and we felt very well taken care of throughout our meal. The restaurant decor nice and the energy in the place felt bright. Downfall was that it was cold that night and we sat next to a closed window but that draft was so apparent we all had to keep our jackets on. There's better spots to try in North Beach.
google avatar

Yelp
Look, you come here for the garlic. You get the garlic. This restaurant lived up to its name and I'm a big fan because of that. I brought an out of town friend as she was craving something creamy and delicious in pasta form. We got the garlic confit, obviously...just drown our taste buds in garlic from the beginning. I probably ate a whole head of garlic myself and we still had some leftover. A glass of wine washes it down really nicely. I wish I remembered exactly what we ordered for dinner because it was fantastic. My friend got some sort of brie mushroom sauce on her pasta and I got a red sauce that I swear had everything in mixed in it, tomato/vodka/Alfredo?? It was so good. Perfect for me who doesn't like to make decisions so I had everything. I got that sauce on the short rib ravioli and it was so good! Dreams were made. Wonderful times. Wonderful garlicky times. This is the pinnacle of Italian American cuisine.

Yelp
So excited that this place is alive and well! The LA location closed due to COVID, and my dreams of trying it out died with it. Very hard not to notice this place when you drive by, with blaring bright lights inviting you in. Indoor and outdoor seating available, a fun, warm and welcoming interior, greeting you with the bar area upon entry. Our waiter was very attentive, and the food as well as water refills and freshly grated Parmesan all arrive promptly. Garlic lovers heaven, but also has options for those that don't want garlic in their dishes but want to accompany their elite, garlic loving friends. All of the food was great! The bread: warm and crispy, served with salted butter which paired perfectly with the Stinking Rose salad and soup of the day which was tomato when I went. The soup was very creamy and comforting; the salad was delicious and light without being insanely garlicky; it did cost another $8.99 to add burrata though.. Also for appetizers and a little random, were the pot stickers. Traditional flavors but yet, done so very well. Some of the best veggie pot stickers I have had, cooked perfectly with a nice crunchy bottom. For entree: I'm not one to usually get gnocchi but this time, decided to try it out and I was not at all disappointed. Paired it with the garlic lovers sauce, and I swear, it tasted more garlicky than eating roasted garlic straight! Super delicious, creamy & buttery. Alas, the item I had been waiting for... garlic ice cream for dessert! Served with the shell chocolate drizzle. At first, wasn't sure if I was all garlicked out from the rest of the dishes that I could not tell if it tasted like garlic, but slowly you could taste the hint and it was so delicious. Similar to vanilla ice cream but not quite vanilla, obvi. Vegetarians! Beware of the Bagna Calda because it has a hint of anchovy/or fish, and cannot be made without it. Otherwise, vegetarian options are available. Whether you're an omnivore, vegetarian, or pescatarian, they have options for you! Maybe not many for vegans.

Yelp
If you want garlic, this is the place to go. Yan loves garlic and got her full. We sat on the small tables on the sidewalk, it would work with a bit more area, Yan loved it. The service was fast. She had the scallops and shrimp sizzling pan and I had the raviolis in a meat sauce. I've had way better. She liked her dish. We got out of there paying 100.00. Is it great, no. It's a San Francisco landmark and you should go once.

Yelp
I came here once before when they first opened back in the 90s when I was still a college student in SF. They were in the original location across the street not far from the current location. I wasnt impressed with their food back then, I thought the place was mostly for tourists. Fast forward almost 30 years later I revisited this place for a second time. I went to Chinatown for Chinese New Year Parade and I had time to kill so we wandered around North Beach and came across this place crowded with people eating on the sidewalk patio so we decided to eat here. This time I ordered a Margherita pizza with prosciutto and my friend ordered seafood fettuccine. To my surprise, we loved both dishes. I loved their fettuccine more than Maggiannos in Santana Row in San Jose. They've elevated the foods so much better than the last time I visited and I plan to come back here if we happen to be in the area again.

Yelp
Started off with the Bagna Calda. Was very excited but this dish is extremely easy to make at home with garlic and olive oil. Bread was soft and chewy to the right texture. I was very excited started off with garlic. As a garlic lover, the decor with elephant garlics and garlic literally everything, I expected garlic to be loaded on every single dish. Most dishes did not have dishes as anticipated The Seafood Fettuccine has a great sauce. But the overall cooking seems like it was thrown together without due care. A big patch of Italian season is on some part of the crab not seasoned evenly. I had a mouthful of Italian seasoning from one bite. Taste was fine and the pasta also seems to be homemade. Very fatty but not as much garlic as I'd hoped. The oven crab is not the best way to cook the crab. A lot of the moisture is lost and a lot of butter used to compensate the drying nature of roasting crab. Also did not have as much garlic as I'd hoped. The steak was just normal. Great temperature perfect medium rare. Again not a lot of garlic. Very regular steak. On the rougher side for a "prime" grade ribeye. The mussel and shrimp flatiron looked terrible. The three pieces of shrimp lying dead on the flat iron did not look appetizing. The sauce was way too fatty. The shrimp was delicious however. Mussels are a hit or miss. The fat ones with seasoning inside are great but the skinny ones is dry at times. Tiramisu is delicious. But again it's little Italy, if they can't make a mean tiramisu Mussolini will wake up from the grave for a talk. Garlic ice cream was weird but not bad. I hate mixing savory and sweet but the garlic after taste of the ice cream was very interesting. It's worth a try for the first time but I wouldn't eat it again. Some servers don't speak English when we asked for something but that wasn't a huge problem for us. Some servers lack details in the service however. We are a party of four, and got three plates for dessert to split; two sets of wet towel with seafood fork for table of four. Overall 3.5/5

Yelp
One absolutely can't miss out on The Stinking Rose when visiting San Francisco! Nestled in the heart of Little Italy, this fantastic restaurant is a paradise for anyone who loves Italian cuisine! Reservations are recommended but not required, to ensure indoor seating, I made a reservation. We stopped in for dinner and we were promptly seated at our table on the second floor. Choosing what to eat was the hard part ad there were so many delicious options! We ordered and enjoyed: Bagna calda Pasta- garlic alfredo with dungeness crab Creme brulee cheesecake Wow, both dishes were absolutely phenomenal! The Bagna calda was so tasty, and the garlic Alfredo with the Dungeness crab was bursting with flavor! It was an unforgettable dining experience! The creme brulee cheesecake was the perfect dish to end our meal with. Friendly servers and delicious food, we will definitely visit The Stinking Rose when we return to the area.

Yelp
It's at a good location and service is prompt but food sucks. I got a crab salad today and it came in a bed of mix greens half of an avocado and crab likely from a can that felt fishy. $25 Club soda is $5 and it was cold at lunch as it's in the shade even though it was 71 degrees. Bad food and the ambiance at lunch is cold. Not a good combo. Won't be back

Yelp
This was a cool spot to try. Love the dedication to the theme! One thing i loved is the cute patio which you could eat outside the restaurant. Each table had its own heater above. Joey we are outside. The restaurant has many twists and turns and A LOT of seating! We both ended up ordering pasta, which was fine. We also order the cheese bread with garlic dip but the server misunderstood and brought normal bread, which is okay. I couldn't leave without trying the garlic ice cream... which wasn't too bad! It had garlic flavor but also wasn't over powering like you might expect. The chocolate on top adds a great touch! The service got really slow towards the end and we found that we were the only table in the section. But all in all we enjoyed our time.

Yelp
We arrived early to our reservation and it wasn't a problem and were seated right away. They took us to the very back of the restaurant and crammed us onto a verrryyyy small two top table. We placed our order of bagna cauda, roasted crab, and garlic steak. The bagna cauda arrived literally two minutes after I ordered and it came cold. Seriously wtf. They took it back and "reheated" it. It came back much warmer. The roasted crab was overcooked and the garlic sauce was just meh. My husband is a carnivore and usually loves his steaks but this one was completely underwhelming. Would not recommend coming here for dinner. If you want good roasted crab try out the well-known establishments and if you just want a good dinner, I would just avoid coming here altogether.

Yelp
What a fun dinner. Not only was the service exceptionally welcoming and friendly, but also FAST. As soon as you ordered anything, BAM, there it was. The food was positively delicious. From the "Bagna Calda" roasted garlic bread to start through the "Super Combo" double skillet of garlicky crab, mussels and shrimp and finally the "Garlic Ice Cream. WOW . Make your reservation because this place is super popular and not to be missed.

Yelp
This place was everything I thought it would be and more!!! The decor is so eclectic and fun! We went here for a work team dinner so there were 8 of us. We ordered cocktails and appetizers. Appetizers were the Bagna Calda (so good!) potstickers and Bruschetta. Cocktails were the Hamiltan Blueberry Lemon Drop, Mummy Boys Watermelon Margarita and Espresso Martini. All were so good!! I ordered the House Salad and the Sea Bass. Several ordered the prime rib and were very pleased! Of course we had to order the Garlic Ice Cream... many at the table did not want to try it but they were convinced to try a bite.....the tune changed!!! Service was great, water glasses refilled when needed... very attentive.

Yelp
A garlic-themed restaurant? Say less. I was very excited to visit this restaurant because I absolutely love garlic! The atmosphere was centered around garlic, with a vampire-themed menu, garlic cloves hanging from the ceiling, and very medieval interior designs. There is outdoor seating as well, which gives an Italian-esque vibe, fitting for an Italian restaurant. Inside, the restaurant doesn't smell strongly of garlic, which is both a plus and a con. While I prefer not to smell like garlic after I leave, the lack of garlic aroma may hint at a lack of quality in their dishes. I ordered the Bagna Calda, a garlic lover's favorite, but it was quite disappointing. The menu describes the dish as "oven roasted in extra virgin olive oil & butter with a hint of anchovy," yet it was very bland. It seemed like the garlic was quite old and lacked strong flavors. For the main dish, I had the gnocchi with garlic lover's sauce. This dish was really delicious and full of flavor, but I just wish they served more. For $25, the portion size was quite small. Lastly, I had Gilroy's garlic ice cream, which was the most garlicky-flavored item I had. Garlic and dessert don't sound right together, but this garlic ice cream was delicious! Maybe I expected too much from this restaurant since garlic is such an easy and delicious ingredient to use and experiment with, but overall, I'd say it was pretty decent. The customer service was phenomenal. They seated me right away, even if my entire party had not arrived.

Yelp
Didn't get a chance to add pics at the time of posting below. Pictured is the Bagna calda a with hot bread & garlic rose relish, garlic salad with fresh crab, garlic Potstickers, seabass in garlic rose relish with zucchini mashed potatoes. It's a must to get a selfie with the cute garlic lady too!

Yelp
We hadn't been there for many years and were disappointed that the food quality has gone downhill. It is definitely a tourist trip since it has been around for a long time and has the kitchy atmosphere that appeals to out of towners. The specialty garlic salad was not impressive - a bunch of boxed lettuce and some dressing and vegies thrown on. The garlic chicken didn't have much flavor and didn't even include a vegetable besides mashed potatoes. Bread is extra. There are so many better alternatives in North Beach and I am sorry that I didn't go to one of them. I would never return!!!!

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch, it was not packed with people. We were seated right away. It smelled really good. I ordered the fettuccine and it was soooo good!!!! My partner had the lasagne but my plate was top tier!! The cheeses were mouthwatering. I loved it. 10/10.

Yelp
This review mainly focuses on the negative experience our party received from host, Besmir and manager, Andre. We made a reservation for dinner for a party of 7 at 7pm on a Saturday. We checked in and were told we'd be sat in 15min. That wasn't a problem, the restaurant did look busy. Unfortunately, for the next 45min we keep waiting while trying to get updates from the host on our table. A handful of other parties were also doing the same. The waiting was unfortunate but the most upsetting part was the host. He was impolite, lacked empathy and was giving us attitude. We were being patient and just wanted to be seated. We've passed the hour mark for our reservation. A handful of parties with reservations later than ours are seated. At this point we asked for the manager. He doesn't say much to us, goes to talk to the host and never returns. We still had to wait another 15min and then we are finally sat upstairs. At this point we are relieved to finally be seated. We ordered our food and drinks and everything came out pretty quickly. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. All the staff inside were great. We ordered the bagna calda and bruschetta for the table. And for entrees we ordered the hot iron skillet with garlic mussels and shrimp and the short rib ravioli with the garlic lovers butter sauce. The bagna calda was definitely the highlight of my meal. Though everything else was just as tasty. At the end of our meal we decided to speak to the manager just to inform him of our experience with the host. He came over and after we explained what happened, to our bewilderment, he just rattled off a bunch of excuses. He even went off on cell phones being the issue...? He never once apologized or took responsibility for anything. Overall our experience here was one of the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. We understand that it was busy but they clearly did not know how to handle their reservations. Waiting over an hour for your reservation is unheard of. And to be met with such a dismissive, rude host and also an unapologetic manager who could not take responsibility for their restaurant's setbacks. It was extremely disappointing as the rest of the staff was wonderful and so was the food. Unfortunately I will not be coming back here. Our entire experience was ruined by the treatment from the host and manager.

Yelp
Honestly speaking- we came here for the views and people watching:) grabbed one drink to sit and chill and just take in the day. Absolutely recommend after a long day of walking to take a little rest and stop in (pro tip- grab coffee down the street at Caffe Trieste)

Yelp
The food is pretty delicious. Our server Carlos is super nice, he always comes by and makes sure we are doing ok with the food or drinks. The mussels were delicious with lots of roasted flavor. The chicken sandwich was also delicious, pretty light and tasty. The drinks were so reasonable and we came before dinner time, for a late lunch.

Yelp
Great ambiance and absolute superb service. Honestly the food was probably 3 stars when we visited because the crabs tasted frozen; granted it wasn't crab season I can't really fault them, but worth noting. The mussels were also overcooked sadly. But otherwise we had a good experience. Their signature garlic oil is great. Shoutout to the servers who were extremely attentive and kept changing out our plates, refilling our drinks, and immediately picking up and replacing my napkin when it fell on the floor. Top notch service.

Yelp
I'm over the fact that this is not the same restaurant it used to be and they don't have any fried calamari. Their margarita pizza is unique and quite tasty. The garlic salad, but I don't like that absolute stark raving lunatics are walking the street screaming and cursing at you as they walk by. Of course that's not the restaurant's fault. Service was fast and friendly. Nice ambience except for the screaming crazies.

Yelp
We got the last reservation of the night at 8 pm. The outdoor seating was really nice and intimate, yet had an entertaining street view. They also had heaters outside which made it comfortable when there was a cool breeze. The food was delicious. I may be biased because I LOVE garlic... but I loved everything we tried. I got the gnocchi because it's one of my favorite Italian dishes. It has almost the perfect texture that is hard to find from gnocchi. The 40 close garlic chicken was also delicious although it didn't come with as much garlic as I had anticipated. It was very moist and flavorful thought. I would go back again and again, I would recommend this restaurant to any garlic lover.

Yelp
I came back to this place which was once Calzones and what a huge change. The wind blockers were removed. The heater above us sounds like a helicopter with a huge bang. The wind blew my water glass breaking glass and ice everywhere. The food was ok. The best item we ordered was the avocado salmon wanton crisp. That was delicious. I miss the original pizza place. For the price and service not a spot I recommend.

Yelp
We loved the old location with the tents. It provided a somewhat private dining experience. The new place is nice and love sitting at the window seats. The food has been really good every time. We always get the mussels and the bagna calda for appetizers. The crab sandwich is really good paired with some red wine. Good spot to eat every now and then.

Yelp
Seafood fettuccine was delicious would definitely come back and order it again. Service was great, We were seated right away, our order was taken with in minutes. Although busy, our waiter was always checking up on our table and clearing the table. I will definitely be back and trying our more items.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were absolutely phenomenal!! 100/10 recommend this spot for a nice dinner or just a casual drink and appetizer. Thanks to all the quick and swift staff, even sitting on their heated patio out front.. we got all we needed in quick time !

Yelp
We had called in saying we were going to be late, they said it was fine. Guy at the front desk did not seat us even though they had clearly open tables.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday with 8 friends on 04/05/2024 for a reservation at 8:00PM. My experience was one of the best I've ever had for my birthday. The staff was very nice and our service was amazing very attentive! Drinks and appetizers came right away and the food was great as well. I personally got the ribeye. It was cooked to perfection, my taste is medium rare and the meat was very tender :) I will definitely be coming back and making this place my new tradition!

Yelp
I came here for a friend's large birthday dinner and to be honest I was not expecting much from this place being that it's a tourist trap. I would say that the food is a bit overpriced, which makes sense being that it is a tourist trap. The food is pretty tasty I will say! I got the bolognese and tried my friend's crab melt and both were super tasty. We also ordered the garlic confit appetizer for the table that was great though they don't give you nearly enough bread for how much garlic they give you - I'd definitely recommend ordering more on the side!

Yelp
They say all you have to do is follow your nose to The Stinking Rose, well I am a sucker for garlic but if you can't smell it, you shouldn't have any problem seeing it. The facade on this place lights up the entire street! Equally impressive is the interior, although its fast furious, its clean and bright. The small bar is a great place to park for a well-made cocktail. Cheers!

Yelp
Garlic heaven! The roasted garlic cloves in olive oil, served with bread rolls is a must for an appetizer. Spread the soft cloves onto chunks of the bread and mop up the garlic infused olive oil. Lots of cocktails & wines. We had the Gartini, which is garlic infused martini. Very good. The blueberry lemon drop cocktail is also yummy. The Italian calzone is the best I've had anywhere, with handmade crust that is not too thick or thin and stuffed with just the right amount of meat and cheese and garlicky spice. A nice arugula salad with blue cheese is a good balance to the meal. The tomato cream linguine and the Alfredo sauce linguine are both very good and well done. For dessert, they have a number of choices but we decided on the garlic ice cream drizzled with chocolate shell, which was served in a generous potion and tasted so good that we wanted more despite the large serving. The fun, eclectic decor is delightful, with a garlic/North Beach Italian/vintage cooking theme. We had a window seat with a view of the bustling street. Service was good. Truly a memorable place with memorable food and enjoyable experience. We will be back.

Yelp
For those who live away from this area or under a rock , calzones was absorbed by the stinking rose. The cocktails were amazing, the pasta was delicious, burrata was good, service was attentive! The cheesecake was cool. The decor is mostly the old calzones things with added garlic themes. No music but the place is a bit loud with conversation noise. Quite recommendable!!!!

Yelp
I used to go yo the one in Beverly Hills and LOVED it until it sadly closed. I went to this one with high expectations and noticed that many things were different. I missed the green stuff and the house made bread and the short ribs.... the chicken though, still phenomenal. Ambiance is still fun and service was very good.

Yelp
What a joke!! Made reservations for my wife n' I over 3 weeks when we arrived, they could not locate our reservation and if it wasn't for the text confirmation they wouldn't seat us. The bar wouldn't allow us to add our drinks to the food...we had to pay separately. I ordered a gin tonic and it came in a straw!!! Really ? Who does that. The drink came in the same glass as. The water. They didn't bring us the utensil to crack the crab n' we had to ask...after waiting. They didn't bring us bring us...ONE... for a party of two. Yo top it off the waiter poured water in my drink and didn't offer to replace it.
