Such a life-changing travel experience. So we stayed at the Stockade a couple of months ago as I was having outpatient surgery and needed a quiet place to recover for a day. We had such a positive experience there that now when we travel we look for B&Bs like the Stockade. I fully credit the ease of my recovery to going straight there post surgery to rest and just " be." The food was so exceptional and fresh, the house was impeccable and you could tell the rooms were tailored to the comfort of visitors who wanted a serene place to rest. Janice couldn't have been nicer. We loved it. We won't stay anywhere else in Baton Rouge but there.

I recently had my wedding at The Stockade B&B and stayed for a few nights as well. The room was immaculate and clearly tailored to guest's comfort, and the owner, Janice was amazing and kind. She did everything in her power to make our special day a reality and our stay as comfortable as possible. If you're in the area and looking for a cozy wedding venue, look no further because you've found the perfect choice.

An excellent bed & breakfast in Baton Rouge. A warm house decorated with taste, large fully equipped rooms, a welcoming and kind host. Great breakfast with home made cakes. A very enjoyable experience.

Great experience at The Stockade. The hosts were very welcoming. The room was very spacious and just as advertised on the website. Great breakfast each morning. Best part was meeting many very nice guests at the inn over the course of my stay. I would gladly stay here again next time in Baton Rouge.

Google
What a lovely place for a weekend escape. We have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and if this is what they are like, then we are hooked. The Welch Room was comfortable! Ask her about the soft luxury sheets. Janice is the perfect innkeeper, and she put together a fantastic breakfast and held great conversation with us and the other guests. We will return, even with in only being 10 miles from our house.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous Bed & Breakfast in the midst of Baton Rouge. It's like a oasis of peace and quiet. I had a gorgeous balcony / deck out of my room and seriously loved it. I drank coffee in the morning on my deck. My bed was comfortable. The pillows, will, I wish I'd have had a flatter one, but that often happens to me at a hotel or B&B. Breakfast was really good. Pancakes with fruit and chocolate syrup, fruit, scrambled eggs with cheese, a piece of sausage and a piece of bacon. They keep milk and yogurt and wine in the dining room for your enjoyment.

Yelp
Wonderful stay, close to great restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves, our room was huge and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, we unfortunately had to leave a day early due to hurricane Ida. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Great location. Lovely New Orleans style home with friendly and accommodating innkeepers and staff. Spacious comfy bedrooms and bathrooms with daily maid service. Delicious breakfast. Great biscuits and grits. Dining room open 24 hours with sodas, chips, muffin, and bananas with ice machine, toaster and microwave. I will always stay at The Stockade when in Baton Rouge!

Yelp
Just stayed the night last minute traveling. Rooms and innkeeper were great and very accommodating. They served us a wonderful breakfast at 7:30 on a Sunday morning so we could get on the road. I would make a point to stay again.

Yelp
My husband and I recently got married here for a small elopement ceremony. From the very beginning, we absolutely fell in love with this place. It is a secret gem that is so heavenly to escape to. We stayed in the Rex Room which was incredible and were served an amazing breakfast. Ms. Janice is so incredibly thoughtful and so wonderful and we cant thank her enough for making her wedding so special for us!

Yelp
I finally had the opportunity to stay at The Stockade and now I wish I had visited sooner! Janice is the most gracious of hosts and her team is top notch. The food was incredible and the public areas warm and welcoming. The rooms are thoughtfully furnished with the most deliciously soft sheets and, in the room where I stayed, a deep Jacuzzi tub!! I had the best night's sleep I've had in ages on the fluffiest of down pillows you can imagine. The Stockade is an oasis in the middle of Baton Rouge. It's so quiet and the gardens so relaxing that you'd never know you were just steps away from everything the city has to offer! Highly recommend a stay here!

Yelp
My mom wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast because she simply has never done so before. For Christmas I got her a gift card here because of the amazing reviews. Yes, we are from Baton Rouge. My mom called me and asked if we could have a girls night there. So we planned it. The owner of the stockade was real sweet. She called me before Christmas apologizing because she forgot the mail the gift card in time for my mom to get it before Christmas. That was no big deal. My mom already knew what she was going to get and what not. She contacted me through various ways to get things done which I very much appreciated. When we arrived at the stockade we immediately get asked for help for our bags. We checked in, once you check in they offer one free glass of wine. The place has a "home" feeling. Our room was beautiful and clean and upstairs. She had an array of movies and books to choose from for your leisure. I really wanted to meet the owner but she wasn't there. The breakfast was wonderful. I wish it was bigger because it was so good! I was happy with my stay here. I would stay here if I was from out of town. It's located in a great area.

Yelp
Had a fantastic stay at the Stockade while in town on business. The accommodations are 5-star and everything was wonderful. I highly recommend the Stockade. John, from Michigan.

Yelp
We made a reservation yesterday through booking.com to stay at this BnB. When we got there today, the owner said she tried to call us an hour before we arrived to confirm our reservation. She then proceeded to say that we made our reservation for the following night, not tonight. We showed her our booking confirmation email with our dates, which clearly showed we booked a room for tonight. What I believe happened was she double booked us and rather than admitting it said we booked the wrong dates or it was a booking.com error and that we could stay the following night. No, we needed a place to stay tonight, which is why we made our reservation for...tonight! It was very inconsiderate and if she would have been honest I wouldn't have written this review. Lastly, we have booked hundreds of rooms through booking.com worldwide and this has never happened.

Yelp
The Stockade Bed and Breakfast is a delightful little gem in the middle of Baton Rouge. Perfect for a Staycation or for family who is visiting. Each room is well appointed and unique. Morning breakfast is delicious and Janice is absolutely lovely! I can't wait to go back - and I live in Baton Rouge!

Yelp
I once thought there were no nice places to stay in Baton Rouge. Now, I know I was mistaken. The Stockade is simply wonderful. The location is perfect; its on Highland Road near LSU and downtown. Just right for someone visiting a student, doing business down town, or vacationing. The Stockade's rooms are decorated with fabulous antique furniture. On the walls are numerous exmples of Louisiana art, which add to the ambiance. The beds are comfortable and the linens are high quality. The great room has many places to sit an is great for visiting with friends nd the baby grand piano make impromtu performances very tempting. However, don't let the old time feel of this place fool you. TVs are readily available in your room along with wireless internet access, so if you are a business traveler, dont fret. Breakfast is homestyle eggs and bacon or sausage, omelets, waffles etc..all made to order. Also, there is continental breakfast that is available all day. Between the decor, the food, the location, and the amenities, you cant do any better that the Stockade.

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights, visiting Baton Rouge for the first time (as tourists). Great room - very spacious - and a very nice bed. Warm shower, clean linen, fast wireless internet, lots of breakfast, water & fruit for the day. What more could you desire? :-) Janice was very friendly, and gave us some good tips for local eateries. The Stockade has a wonderful ambiance, and I just wish we had more time to enjoy the garden and the lounge. And please don't forget to visit Sammy's across the street for some boiled crawfish!

Yelp
You won't find too many B&B's in Baton Rouge but you won't need to after you stay at the Stockade. Great place to relax and feel at home. Great location, comfortable beds, yummy breakfast, beautiful artwork display (over 200), relaxing outdoor seating, free movies and wifi, short distance to LSU and other major landmarks of the area. You won't find a more southern friendly inn keeper. Would highly recommend for business or pleasure.

Yelp
I had such a good experience with Janice and the bed and breakfast. I was there by myself visiting LSU and she was able to help me in anyway I needed, from showing me where the bus stop was to helping me pack lunches for my day. She took such good care of me, and it made my stay so much more enjoyable! I stayed in the Blue Room and it had a gorgeous balcony that I went and sat on because the weather was perfect! The breakfast was amazing! I had to leave early some morning so she even woke up early to cook something up for me which was so incredible! She went out of here way to make sure my stay was relaxing and that I didn't have to worry about anything! It's like staying with family and you feel so at home there!

Yelp
True bed and breakfast place. Nice bed room and great breakfast. Well appointed rooms with full amenities. Better than some four star hotels. Full service breakfast like an up scale restaurant. Nice living area for relaxing after dinner. There were some guests from England and they got their hot tea for breakfast, while a lady from San Francisco was served some sweeten iced tea. These were not regular items served during breakfast there, but gladly provided. It is a historic house yet there is neither old house smell nor squeaking floors. Convenient location with numerous types of restaurant. It is nice to stay at this professionally run establishment. It is up there as nice as top B n Bs in Sonoma/Napa, New England and New York, where one night might set you back $350.00 or more.

Yelp
Wow! That is all I can say about our experience at The Stockade! We visited for the Miss USA pageant and I was so pleased with our stay. The bed was so comfortable and the room was large and clean. However, without a doubt our favorite part was the breakfast - so tasty! I will stay here every time I return to Baton Rouge!

Yelp
What a lovely find! From the surrounding vegetation, you could drive by this place a hundred times and never know what you were missing. A historical civil war era home, with beautiful decor and setting, this is definitely the place to come and stay a while. Relax and get out of the hum-drum of staying in hotels. We were greeted with a smile, a complimentary glass of wine, and an amazing suite with a private bath and balcony. The freshly prepared breakfast was delicious. The innkeeper was very very friendly and full of stories and information about the local area. My husband and I immediately felt at home Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We've already convinced both sides of the family to stay here on their trips through Baton Rouge.

Yelp
Friendly reception; clean, classy facility -- the inviting living area, appealing dining room and a remarkably charming, comfortable room (the Rex room) with its living room suite and king-size bed. Lots of books around the facility along with Louisiana art and bric-a-brac. Janice proved to be a generously helpful hostess, including stories about Baton Rouge. The pain perdue was a fresh way to begin breakfast and the other guests proved as companionable as was Janice. We would stay again -- lovely place at a reasonable price. Ken and Mary Lou Guillory

Yelp
The stockade is awesome, anything you ask there are accommodations made or its personally handled. It truly is a business that only wants a certain demographic of clientele. Defenitalely not those who think there doing the stockade a favor by staying there. For a short time you become engrossed in a family outside your family in that house, and you don't have to clean up after yourself If you are chosen to stay here, I highly recommend you take advantage of the opportunity. It genuinely is a place not all about the money but there experience

Yelp
My fiance and I were not allowed to make a reservation for this B & B because of their two night minimum during game weekends. We were not even looking to stay the actual game day night and were looking for something special for our wedding night. It would have been nice had the staff considered this and the fact that two rooms out of six were still available just a few weeks before the game, a rarity during an LSU home game weekend. I guess we'll never know if this is a nice, quaint place as described because we will never be returning to stay here.

Lesley R.

Yelp
We purchased a weekend package for my parents as a thank you for our amazing wedding. Janice assured me that they would be well taken care of. My parents LOVED this place. I was so glad that I did my research and booked at the Stockade Bed & Breakfast. My parents are still talking about the wonderful weekend they had and how everything was perfect. Thanks again, Janice for treating my parents to the best weekend!

Yelp
The building is charming, warm and welcoming. The room we had was absolutely fabulous! It was very spacious, with comfortable beds and premium bedding. Breakfast was sensational! Good food and good conversation with other guests and the innkeepers! We will be back!

Yelp
We stayed here for a night when we were passing through Baton Rouge. The b&b is beautiful with attractive decor. But we stayed in the Escape room and while it's a large room, it almost feels too large and lacks a certain coziness that I want in a bedroom. I think some rearranging so that one doesn't feel like the bed is directly in front of the door which is the main desk for people checking in and out, might be a good idea. I was also a bit disappointed that the woman who checked us in (not the owner) was pleasant but when I asked if there was an option for an earlier breakfast (we had to leave before breakfast was served) she just flat out said no. She didn't offer us anything lighter (maybe something that didn't need to be prepared etc) and it just didn't feel that accommodating, which is one of the things I look for in a more intimate b&b setting. Otherwise, it was a nice stay. We did get a recommendation for Sammy's Grill across the street and it was tasty.
