On our fifth day in our Newfoundland trip, we were at Fogo Island. Thus far, we had a very underwhelming food experience in Gros Morne and Bonavista areas; so we weren’t expecting much. The Storehouse, however, changed our perception about Newfoundland food and how amazing it can taste when done well. We ordered seafood chowder for appetizer which had cod, shrimp, bits of celery and carrot and a rich, creamy potato base. They told us that they don’t use cream in their soup which was a pleasant surprise. The chowder was amazing and the accompanying bread with anchovy butter was very flavourful. For mains, we ordered kids mini burger, pan seared cod, and fish & chips. The burger was juicy and the beef patty was very tasty paired up with ketchup. The pan seared cod came with an assortment of baked veggies and a very flavourful garlic-based aioli. The cod was moist, flaky and had the right amount of zing. The batter of the fish & chips was well-seasoned and remained crunchy till the last bite. The fish & chips came with tartar sauce and homemade coleslaw which was super fresh. The fries were also very crunchy and not oily at all. Special thanks to our chef Mr. Miko and our server for the amazing recommendations. Best food experience in Newfoundland so far..

Charming space, a great server in Amanda, whose laugh is worth the price of admission! Great, locally sourced food, simply prepared and just delicious. Washrooms are impressive (cloth hand towels - not what I expected in a fishing village!) No tipping because staff share in revenue. Highly recommend.

This place served some of the best seafood chowder I’ve ever had. And I’m from New England, where we pride ourselves on our chowder. We also got a delicious bean salad. And on another night: frites and cocktails. Everything was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. Very friendly & attentive staff too. We’ll definitely be back here.

A local we met told us to go here for the seafood chowder. We always listen to the locals and The Storehouse DID NOT disappoint us. Amazing service from the moment we walked in. And the food? Well, it was one of the best chowders we’ve had in Newfoundland. Enjoy!

We had the burger, fish cakes and daily sandwich and soup. Everything we ate was delicious. We also had the partridge berry cocktail and it was very refreshing. What's better is the portion sizes are just right so there is no waste, love that! Service was great and the atmosphere was pleasing to the eye. Highly recommend!

The Storehouse in Joe Batt’s Arm is a refreshingly unpretentious gem that captures the spirit of Fogo Island with quiet confidence. Housed in a beautifully simple space, it serves up honest, locally inspired dishes—like seafood chowder and pan-fried cod—that are as comforting as they are delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly service that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.

Best meal I’ve had in Newfoundland. I think the pictures speak for themselves. My vegetarian husband was also pleasantly surprised to find a menu where the options were so well thought out - not an afterthought. He felt included.

Fish and chips were delicious I loved the homemade tartar sauce! The new Brie and berry burger was also fantastic :) I also like the partridgeberry cocktail, not too tart - very refreshing on a hot day like today

Yelp
The best meal in Newfoundland! So impressed with the Shorefast's food initiative of offering simple & healthy options that celebrates local foods through contemporary strategies. Local seafood, berries and root vegetables takes the centre stages. My friend and I had lunch and dinner on the same day because the value, portion size and flavours were bar none. Wish we had another day on Fogo Island so we could eat here again. Menu changes daily/seasonally for this truly farm to table restaurant. For lunch we had fish cakes, daily soup of potatoes and leek, roasted chicken with partridgeberry jam on home-made bread with soup, and partridgeberry ice cream. For dinner, we had pan seared cod with braised leeks and potatoes, roasted pork chop with navy beans and braised cabbage, and partridgeberry custard. Service was fantastic and employing locals, we got to ask questions about the regions and they were so helpful in locating sites for us to see. The atmosphere was warm inside (clean rustic Nordic vibe) and the big front window let in light and views of the ocean and their stores and stages. Because they pay their staff completive wages, tipping was not need. If you go to Fogo Island, The Storehouse is a MUST.
