Great location. Our room was clean and comfortable. Pool area was clean, plenty of lounge chairs available, towels provided daily. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The free breakfast was a full self-serve breakfast including scramble eggs, breakfast meat selection changed daily, juices, coffee and much more!

Don't believe the fake 5 star reviews from accounts like "Many Blessings". Read the reviews and trust the real ones. We stayed for 5 nights. Cleaning services were non-existent. Had to ask for new towels daily. Had to ask for new toilet paper because they just never came to the room. The room had a very strong musty smell that never went away. When booking, we asked to be put on the highest floor because it was our kids first time at the ocean and our first family vacation. To them, that meant put us on floor 3 where you can barely see over the palm trees that are at the pool. Additionally, "oceanfront" does not mean that you have a 180° view of the ocean. It means you're on the angled wall that faces the ocean to the South and other hotels rather than just facing directly at the ocean. We specifically called about this, twice, ahead of time to confirm we'd be on the end that had the 180° view then when we asked about it they acted like we were dumb. The parking deck is very tight. Every ramp has a 3 point turnaround area because you can't turn any larger vehicle. This is evident by the bashed up walls where people tried. The location was fine, ~20 minutes from the farthest attractions we went to. Most things were within just a few miles or less. Broadway at the beach ~8 minutes, Barefoot Landing ~20 minutes. Pier14 and all the stuff near there (Ripley's, shops, etc.) ~6 minutes. These are driving times. Overall we had fun, enjoyed the pool, but the front desk staff were rude and the lack of cleaning staff was very evident. We will be back to Myrtle Beach, but we will try a different hotel next time. The attached video is from my "Ocean Front 1 Bedroom Queen Bed Condo"

The Strand is the best hotel we've stayed at.in Myrtle Beach. Breakfast is free, the bar is great, there's always fresh towels, they keep everything clean of sand, including the pool and restaurants, and we all know that is so difficult at the beach. Get the souvenir cup with free refills from the bar. Kids stayed rich in ice cold lemonade all week with those. I would live there if I could.

Honest opinion! Pros: Great location, clean rooms, YOUNGER staff very friendly, nice outdoor area, reasonable rates. Cons: Super small balcony , Oceanfront seems more like a ocean view with an annoying cut off corner on balcony. Re-entering the building from the poolside smells moldy although everything appears clean. Breakfast is a total joke!! Never seen anything like that before in all our travels and have the nerve to have a tip jar nearby. Must be an excellent driver to park because of narrow spaces. Last but not least customer service from older lady was not the greatest. She seems to be annoyed when dealing with customers upon arrival and at departure. Some positive some not so great certainly needs improvement.

Google
I was pleasantly surprised! Although the hotel is a bit dated (some chipped paint in the halls) our overall stay was really enjoyable! The airport shuttle, clean pools, beach front location, bar/bartenders, restaurant food, free breakfast, front desk, cleanliness and proximity to coffee and ice cream shop made our stay a great one! The mattresses and pillows were comfortable too!

We picked the hottest week of the year to come. 1 elevator out of 3 working. Little disappointed in the room. Was suppose to be oceanfront.....more like side view over another building beside us. Kitchen definitely has some wear and tear from use....pretty beat up. Bathrooms were real tight. Other than that....we were at the beach. It is beautiful. Breakfast was good and hot. The staff was very nice. The room was clean and I actually slept good even though it was my home bed....lol

There needs to be handicap accessible rooms and equipment for the pool and hot tub. We had to pay more to get a bigger room so my niece could move around with her walker. The hotel itself is good. The breakfast was good. Most everyone was ready nice and helpful.

We stayed in Room 1425, which shares a main entrance with an adjacent room. On the third day of our stay, we returned to find our room door wide open. It appears the housekeeping staff had cleaned the room but failed to properly close and lock the door afterward. I immediately called the front desk to report the incident. The person who answered told me they were not responsible for any loss, which I understand is stated in the terms I signed. However, I believe the hotel still owes me an explanation as to why our room was left unsecured. To make matters worse, no one followed up with me after my report. This lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
We made a reservation online for a 1 BDRM, oceanfront room We only received a 1 BDRM. I asked the front desk clerk about it and she assured me that we had an oceanfront room because I could see the ocean from my room. Yes, I could see "as far as the eye could see" to the south, but when I looked north, I saw the wall to my balcony. That is NOT oceanfront. The free breakfast was good, but not delicious, and somewhat skimpy. But it served its purpose. The decor was definitely dated. The couch (pull out bed) was extremely uncomfortable. Ample seating in the pool/lounge area and a corn hole game was provided for general use. The hotel had a quiet, relaxing vibe unlike its sister hotel, The Breakers, which had a party vibe complete with DJ, food stations, and waterslides. The Strand only has a 3-4-5 ft. pool and a hot tub. If you stay at The Strand, you do then have full use of the amenities at The Breakers though. Cookware, utensils (cooking/dining), plates/bowls/cups, cutting board, strainer, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, washer/dryer - all provided in room. Very nice that all of that was provided. The faucet in the kitchen needed repaired and I had never seen a bathroom faucet quite like the one at The Strand. Weird! BE WARY WHEN BOOKING! OCEANFRONT AND OCEANVIEW ARE NOT THE SAME!!

Yelp
A BAD MANAGEMENT can ruin a great business!!! We booked a Ocean Front One-bedroom Suite (King Bed only) for celebrating our anniversary. However they gave us a side room! I tried to see if the manager could actually put us in an ocean-front room because that's what I paid for and he said no, and went on saying that I had a great room. Wouldn't listen and made several disgusting faces as if I was "bothering" him as if that is not his job that he gets paid for. DO NOT EXPECT ANY KINDA OF HELP OR SYMPATHY FROM THAT MANAGER MAX. HE IS uncooperative, unaccommodating, discouraging, unconstructive, and unhelpful. A total downer kinda of human, some serious issues there, should not be working with people. He ruined our 25th celebration. Thanks. On the other hand the front desk person (Tyrone I believe his name was) wS WONDERFUL, very interested in helping us but was shut down by the manager. Anyway, looking for another hotel in the morning (suggestion by the manager) Perhaps a place that appreciates and values their costumers.

Yelp
My wife and I celebrated a major anniversary a few weekends ago. The room and amenities were really great. But the staff was superior! Carol and her colleagues were wonderful. I wanted to make a few early arrangements and Carol went above and beyond to help me plan and execute a very nice long weekend stay - even before we arrived. I wanted to have some flowers delivered to the room before we arrived and to make arrangements on the beach. They made sure our stay was memorable. K Smith

Yelp
Stranded! Run far far away from this place! The only reason I gave it a one star is because I needed to write this review. Severely run down and outdated! Room looks like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Dust was everywhere- the room phone, the lamps, the headboard , really filthy! Even a homeless person would refuse to stay in that room. And to think I bought a King oceanfront room. I couldn't breathe in that musty, moldy dirty room. So I slept in my rental car and not the room since no other rooms were available and no one came up to clean the room. I don't think anyone should use their hard money on this place. It needs a complete renovation. But even with the outdated appearance, they could at least clean the room! Very disappointed, especially after driving so far to visit Myrtle Beach. Never staying here! Couldn't even use the bathroom! Ugh!

Yelp
First time visiting this resort, beautiful very space opportunities you can have with the six people we have two bedroom two bathrooms washing the dryer. The couch pulls out into a bed. We are on the fourth floor. It has 19 two restaurants outside pool with hot tub. I have two small one and big one big enough for four people.. The only thing that we found that we did not like about it is, we were supposed to have a oceanfront they gave us the apartment on the corners is more like a ocean view other than that it was a very nice day stay

Savannah B.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. Creepy maintenance workers that will liter try to entrap you and make you feel uncomfortable. The staff will treat you accordingly based on how "rich" you look. Horrible hotel.

Yelp
WARNING PLEASE READ!! BOUTIQUE RESORT!??!? L O L ! Entrance/Elevator Experience: Once you walk into the elevator you already know there's a disaster awaiting you in your room. First of all the entire building smells wet and musty and you would assume that it's because the hotel is located right on the beach and people are coming to and from the beach daily but aht aht NO. The building is dingy and is in need of renovations.. IMMEDIATELY! EXTREMELY OUTDATED!! The elevator on the left of the building, in the corner, was so disgusting.. Wasn't clean at all and i saw stale & melting chocolate candy and other food bits scattered all over the elevator floor. I also saw some of the interior details were rotting and/or BITTEN OFF.. Maybe a dog got hungry a couple years ago and they left it there because they couldn't bother. (UPDATE: We checked out the day before we left and it was cleaned up, but the place still reeks of filth. Still smelled like a school bathroom in there.) BUT You know who else couldn't bother?? The front staff. We tried to relocate to a better suite but of course there were ""none available because it's fully booked for this week""!! Wasn't sure if she was joking or being serious. The only guy that helped was the maintenance man and he did the best that he can to assist us with the ozone spray machine to attempt to remove the smell, of course it didn't work and it was NOT HIS FAULT AT ALL! Thanks again if you see this sir. SAFE???: I don't see this hotel being safe for Elderly people, little children, pregnant women or even the dogs. God forbid, but I'm honestly surprised that i didn't catch anything after my short stay. The room smelled so filthy and reeked of a faint cigarette smell, stale pee, and . I only stayed in there for a FEW HOURS & HAD TO SLEEP IN MY CAR DUE TO THE EXTREMELY POOR CONDITIONS OF THIS DUMP. Until we came across the 9 palms, SHOUT OUT TO THEM! a lady mentioned on a google review that she wasn't allowed to stay here with her dog after she reserved the pet room 4 MONTHS prior to her stay. But i was watching alot of people coming in with their dog(s), even the dirty looking dogs! Doors: The doors looked easy to kick down like the place has been raided before.. Carpet: Shabby, lazy installed carpets. Some parts of the carpet was lifting off the ground. Hasn't been visibly cleaned in a WHILE. Needs to be deep cleaned! Floors: It's like the kitchen floor was just swept, the bathroom floor was filthy! The counters in the kitchen and bathroom were quickly wiped down. Still had smudges and dirt on it. Bedroom: Could not even sit on that bed it was so stink and the linen smelled high of pee and was poorly made!!!! The lamp was filled with dust. Dust was everywhere! The chair near the bed looked scratched up like someone was picking on it. PREPARE to leave your balcony doors open just to breathe in that congested room! MONEY WASTED: We had to check into a BETTER hotel, me and my family aren't used to living in filth. And we came for vacation, imagine if we flew here instead of driving... We would've been STRANDED ! Soo upsetting, they're not reasonable with refunds when we didn't even get to stay in our room for more than an hour without the balcony open.. What if we came brokeee?!?! We would've been fighting for our lives in that dungeon!! LASTLY, THE CHECKOUT: Checking out was very unprofessional. For a boutique resort?!? We basically returned their wristband and that was it... no documents no nothing just pass them the wristbands and that was it. Not even a good bye just thanks. IN CONCLUSION, this "resort" not only ruined my nose/lungs but it also ruined our vacation! I will not be coming back to this hotel and South Carolina ever again.. Good riddance!

Yelp
This hotel has terrible service. I came here the mattresses pad was showing on the side it was nasty and ripped. When I asked changed it they said they had no clean one to change it. No toilet tissue in the bathroom, hallway dirty, furniture damaged and this supposed to be 3 plus star hotel. They would try to clean it. The fact that it wasn't cleaned before renting the room is concerning.

Kylie G.

Yelp
In regard to the view from an oceanside room, the hot tub, and walk to the beach the hotel is a 9/10. When looking at the ceiling covered in mold, the mold on the walls, the muggy feeling that is hanging in the air, the small "hot" breakfast options, and the stains on the towels and some of the sheets .... I wouldn't recommend this hotel and probably wouldn't return.

Faye B.

Yelp
Room was good. I am use to having basic things ie a dishwasher pod. If you want to come bring your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. What you get is bottom line. Don't expect flatware or plates, coffee cups etc. or glassware for cocktails or juice. while the food is good and employees are good. Nothing else meets expectations for $1000.00 for four days . I would never suggest this Resort to anyone. 2 elevators for ,19 floors Pack your patience. Be ready to stand in line for check in.. 1 young lady checking you in. We waited almost 20/25 minutes to check in. Not the young ladies fault. Not enough staff.

Yelp
I have never been in any hotel where housekeeping NOT ONCE comes in and cleans the room while you are a guest in the hotel. As a guest, who btw, are being charged a $35 per day housekeeping fee, you are responsible for putting your dirty towels outside the room, if you are lucky, you may get clean ones back, if not, you go to the front desk for them. Guests are also responsible for emptying their own garbage cans, and making their beds- no clean sheets provided unless you ask for them. The rooms are dirty, and smell like mildew, they are not vacuumed at all while you are there. Entire hotel is in desperate need of renovations. The walls in the hallways have water dripping from them because the halls are so humid. Being in the elevators is like being in an oven, extremely hot with no airflow. Rugs are chronically wet due to humidity. The Strand is more expensive than some of the other much nicer hotels around it, because it is called a "boutique " idk what that's supposed to mean, but honestly, the board of health should take a look around, just the air quality in the rooms is enough to make you ill.
google avatar

Sofia M.

Yelp
Great location with an ocean view. The boutique resort label is deceiving. The place is dingy and I wouldn't recommend it unless you are looking for very basic budget travel. The pics posted don't match what I expected. It has a motel like feel. The hallways are dirty and unkept. The elevators are wet and unsafe. It seemed like 1 was always broken. The room was clean but things are old and not kept super clean. Front desk staff were polite and friendly. Free parking across the street.

Yelp
Missing my vacation apartment already. I give the hotel a 4 star because, it was decent. Nice staff Good food Clean rooms Maids are very polite & responsive It's missing a star simply because, it's not the newest, biggest building & has no bell-man staff to assist you with luggage. However, parking is offered directly across the street but, the parking spaces are tight & can fill up the later you come in to park and free breakfast is available w/rooms but, breakfast it's ok. The restaurant food is much better!!!!! Regardless, it was a perfect location if you wish to have a few feet access to be on the beach & if you want to be smoke away from the lively Broad-walk.

Yelp
It's not perfect but is much better than most. We had an 8 night stay beginning 5/7/22. We always get the Deluxe King as it is spacious and ocean front, and close to many restaurants. Our room was in good condition but is in need of some up dating. Front desk staff were great. Had maintenance change the ac filter as it had not been changed in a long time. It's a no smoking hotel so why are cig urns on each of my balconies? Tub/Pools and seating were good. Garage, and common areas were clean. Fellow guests were friendly and polite. Breakfast could improve. Eggs were either moist of too dry. We prefer moist. Staff had problems keeping the breakfast stocked. The first 4 days there were only a couple of pieces of bread out to make toast. I asked a kitchen supervisor doing inventory why no pastries/bagels like our prior visits and magically they showed up for the last four days of our stay. Thanks. Individual milks were also in short supply. Housekeeping service is friendly but minimal after Covid but they did stop by to give us new towels and take trash 3 times. All in all, we like this place and have made reservations for another stay in October. Hope this helps you.

Yelp
Average looking from outside but our king suite was well designed and comfy. Enjoyed having the kitchen and living area in addition to the king bed. Room was clean and updated. The balcony was a highlight with a beautiful view! Free breakfast was decent but pretty standard when it comes to free hotel breakfasts (powdered eggs, canned gravy, etc). But since we had a kitchen I was able to take what I wanted from the free breakfast and add to it from our groceries! Hotel is right on beach with a nice pool area and a lounge chair area. About a mile walk to boardwalk area. Nice place that I would stay at again!

Yelp
The location is on the main strip and we don't vacation a lot so we always want a beach front room. The view was perfect. The room was clean and surprisingly didn't have sand all over. It was a little outdated but that wasn't an issue for us. We appreciated having a small kitchen and washer and dryer. They give you bracelets to wear as your key card which is really convenient. The doors are heavy and slam so that was loud but for the most part people were in their rooms by a reasonable time so it wasn't a huge issue. The breakfast was really good. They had eggs and biscuits every day but the meat changed and the starch changed. Having the restaurant in the hotel was really convenient to order food and take it to your room after a long day on the beach. The food was reasonably priced and tasted good. They had a variety of options. The snack machine took my wife's money but the front office staff gave her the money back and suggested we go to the general store across the street instead of trying the other machines. The staff was very friendly. The beach was easy to access, and the pool/hot tub/fire pit area was clean. Really the only two complaints we had was that the luggage carts were extremely limited and parking was across the street in a parking deck. The issue was that the parking deck was so tiny. It was very hard to maneuver a vehicle. In fact, you can tell many cars have scraped the walls, trying to turn. Overall, we would stay here again.

Suzanne A.

Yelp
Nice clean good value. No water park so not as many small children so tends to be quieter.

Yelp
Glad we stayed at the Strand! Check in was easy, but there was a line to do so. We parked in the front while we unloaded, and once checked in we got a pass for the lot right across the street. The concierge in the hotel is employed by another big resort (forgot which one), so all those deals are only given if you listen to those time share presentations. He did however give us a coupon book that came in handy. The room was fine and had a great view! We had a corner room, so there were 2 doors to get in, kind of like an apartment. Then we had a conjoined room with a family next to us. Wasn't an issue though. The food was ok. Both happy hour and breakfast is pretty packed. The breakfast food could be a little better, but the staff is so friendly! The pool and hot tub were perfect. You also get privileges to Breakers resort, and the pools there are awesome! They have so many to choose from.

Wanda W.

Yelp
Clean resort, friendly staff, safe location in the central beach area near entertainment, restaurants and shopping. Resort sits right on the oceanfront with an oceanfront pool and whirlpool tub, cabanas, fire pits and more.

Douglas N.

Yelp
Amenities on the website are not available. Free breakfast is basic at best. No laundry facilities unless you get a suite. Bar is not open as well as on site restaurant. so having a bite to eat or drink while sitting by the pool is not an option. Beyond disappointing everything we required was not available.

Yelp
The manager Chris was the worst ever he was very rude and has an attitude I stayed on March 5, 2023. we arrived at 1.00 am the check out was at 11.00 am total of 10 hours I requested one hour extra they said can't do it due to their policy, the lady at the front desk requested the manager I think his name was Chris to talk to me. Chris agree to offer me one hour late check out but he was very rude, I told him that is not good for the business and I'm going to write a bad review he didn't even try to apologize and said he don't care about the reviews. I decided to leave early and rejected his rude attitude.

Braeden C.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I checked in yesterday and we were automatically very disappointed in the room, for it is much dirtier and unpleasant all around than the pictures prove. My girlfriend surprised me with the trip as I had just turned 21 and wanted to have a short get-away before college classes started. I went to the restaurant bar where I attempted to order 2 entrees and an alcoholic beverage; I was then denied my order for "slurring my words", at a bar with people with their heads in their hands and stumbling over orders after I had 2 beers in the last 3 hours. I am not writing my review out of spite for the bartender but rather because of the dissatisfaction that came directly after checking in. The bathroom feels unfit to even brush your teeth in, my girlfriend had a pillow that appeared to be run over upon check-in, and the mattresses are old and worn with many unknown stains unless you're checking for bed bugs. I might add that there are no bed bugs which is the one benefit to this hotel, but thats about the only I can name. For future reference, I will make sure that no one in either family ever books a vacation at this hotel. I do wish I could give 0 stars, but I suppose they deserve 1 because it is bare minimally inhabitable. Edit: after talking to the night time supervisor and whoever was working the front desk with him, I was advised to "take a nap" due to the heat. After explaining no other business would be done with the hotel, I got the response "I don't do threats". With a very confrontational at the front desk, I don't believe many customers' problems will be taken into consideration. We were between this place and another that wasn't significantly higher, and I would pay double the difference to do business with the other rather than this place. I will be getting the name of the night time supervisor upon checkout and hopefully getting in contact with whoever is over him. Truly it is in your best interest to avoid this place.

Derek M.

Yelp
The place definitely needs updated and lot of TLC. It's an older place right on the beach so location is great. The outdoor area is nice with thick cushions and fire pit areas. The pool is kept clean. The room is not not serviced at all beside leaving some towels and emptying garbage at times (not daily). The bathroom items were never replenished and there was a tiny soap bar that was supposed to last you the length of your stay I guess. Definitely bring your own shower items. Coffee grounds never replenished. Dishes never washed. Fold out couch is horrible. They don't tend to be comfortable to begin with but this was awful. So uncomfortable. My big issue was during breakfast. When there were food items they were pretty good. Always seemed to be out of something though (eggs, biscuits, coffee, bowls, plates). You shouldn't run out of plates. When you see they're getting low there should be more added. Not have people stand there for five minutes while you get more. The garbage can at breakfast was almost always overflowing with items on floor beside it. There's an attendant there but does minimal work but has tip cup out. NOPE. Overall, it was mediocre at best. Wouldn't go back though.

Yelp
Location was amazing with a wonderful view, hotel staff was friendly, breakfast was great. But our room was covered in mold, and the hallways/elevators were very dirty, making it difficult to enjoy our stay. It seems like a lot of hotels in the area have this same mold issue, but my cousin who is asthmatic ended up leaving our three day trip very sick and having difficulty breathing. I would not recommend staying here if you have respiratory issues or a compromised immune system.

Yelp
This review is for The Strand Myrtle Beach only You may want to carefully read your reservation. I was charged $143 in TAXES for 3 night. What they refer to as taxes are actually taxes and fees 13% Lodging Tax (this the actual tax) Here is what was at the bottom part of my reservation. These are charges for each day and/or each night. TAXES AND FEES Resort Fee of $11.00 will be applied to each night of your stay Daily Housekeeping Fee Standard Room - $15.95 One Bedroom - $24.95 Two Bedroom - $29.95 Three Bedroom - $34.95 Four Bedroom - $39.95 Marketing Fee of $4.00 will be applied to each night

Yelp
I wouldn't even give this place a one star review. It was horrific. The pool was like warm, not cold. The room was dirty. It smelled bad and was covered in dust. The housekeepers do not make your bed, clean the counters, or disinfect. All they did was bring towels. Not even toilet paper. We had to ask multiple times for some. The sheets are a weird texture and had brown spots. The walls were dirty. You had to wear shoes in the shower because it was so disgusting. There was even black stuff coming out of the shower head. Also you couldn't even open the fridge without it stinking up the whole room. The room was freezing cold. I kid you not there were pigeons on the ice machine. Anyone could walk through the hotel, go in the elevator or use the pool. The only time the key was needed was to open your door. And half the time it didn't work! The breakfast was horrible. It was weird eggs and toast. That's it. Overall I would not recommend this establishment. It is not worth the money. Just go to a holiday inn instead. Don't waste your money here.

Yelp
HORRIBLE experience!! Kara and Amanda were so rude! This location management allows racist behavior! My family has stayed here for years but now Kara & Amanda has ruined the experience! The owners need to replace both ASAP! Also besides their rudeness, they had people on my balcony without notifying me! Construction is one thing but entering the premises without any warning is Horrific!
google avatar

Wynn A.

Yelp
We came here for a nice quite vacation and we were faced with daily construction. From 8 am to about 6pm the noise was horrific. They were drilling into the cement, it was like going to the dentist but 100x louder. Could not sleep in at all and needed to stay away from the hotel from morning to night to avoid the horrific noise. DO NOT COME HERE UNTIL THEY FINISH CONSTRUCTION! WORSE VACATION HOTEL WE HAVE EVERY BEEN TO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Oh by the way the free breakfast stinks too. The staff were apologetic but that did not solve the noise problem.

Yelp
Nice hotel, amenities like a small work out room, ice, good breakfast from 630-930 , pool towels are available. Small bar in seating area which is always nice. Pool deck has no shade but lounge chairs available. The lawn area facing ocean has palm trees for shade around noon and 4 tents available. Plenty of pool towels available but not allowed on beach so remember that. No beach chairs or umbrellas but hotel has info for rental on beach. If you here for awhile it's cheaper to buy at a store or bring them. Beach access available from lawn area. We had a beach view but room and balcony was small but had a small kitchenette and fridge. If you come here research rooms so you get enough space. We had 3 in our party and it was tight with 2 queens.

Yelp
Had the worst experience at The Strand on Myrtle Beach. The room was filthy, found a sandal from a previous guest in my room along with black mold in shower. The elevators were filthy and slow, I am sure they are not compliant. We did not have hot water for 2 days of our stay, we had to hunt down a cleaning lady to get fresh towels. Front desk staff was so rude. Stayed there 7/27/21 to 8/2/21.
google avatar

Amalia K.

Yelp
Not sure about the negatives, we really enjoyed our stay. Pro tip don't book through a third party, we got a much better deal booking through them. Room was clean, staff friendly. The breakfast in general was a plus but I'm telling you it was a good breakfast! I liked that the loungers were so comfy not those cheapo plastic loungers like at most places. The outside area in general was really nice with shaded pergolas and fire pit tables. Large hot tub and when the jets wouldn't work, maintenance was there in minutes. Oh another thing the wifi was good. I hate hotels with crappy wifi. If anything my only con was carpet. Carpet especially in rooms on the beach are just bleh...but otherwise, will be back!

Chandra W.

Yelp
My husband and I would like to thank every single member of the staff that assisted us during our stay 9/26 to 9/30. A special shout-out to Jennifer at the front desk and the lady that changed our room when we arrived because of the sink issue in the first room we were given. Every stay at the Strand we have had excellent customer service!!!!! The breakfast the jetted hot tub the patio area and housekeeping were all great ! We had to leave a day early because of the hurricane and Jennifer did not charge us for that night and helped me get my refund processed with Booking .com. Yelp
June 2022 This isn't a fancy modern hotel BUT if your goal is to spend 90% of your time outdoors this is your place. Our room was clean and oceanfront with a balcony. Big dresser and closet for the clothes. The staff was absolutely wonderful with smiles, greeting everyone, providing answers to the most mundane Qs and helpful with restaurant suggestions etc. Jennifer at the front desk couldn't be nicer. Laura the bartender was energetic and fabulous. And the blonde young lady who helped with breakfast was fast, efficient and super nice. Towel and toiletries were replaced daily and garbage was taken out for us. The pool and hot tub were clean with enough towels for all. Our favorite part of this hotel and why we chose it was the green turf, tanning area with super soft, large lounge chairs, and umbrellas surrounded by palm trees. This was perfection as you could sit or layout, lounge, sleep, read etc all under the sun or in the shade. And then just walk down to the beach which is right in front of you. Renting the beach chairs is $10 from the lifeguard. This is not part of the hotel. They also rent umbrellas. The views from the Strand are incredible and you're only 20-25 min walk from the Sky Wheel. 35 min walk to Broadway at the Beach. 3 min to Starbucks. 9 minutes to Dollar General (for water, beach towels) and of walking distance to many restaurants (such as Sea Captain) and shops. And about 10-13 min Uber ride to Angelo's Steak & Seafood, Tbonz Restaurant etc. No hotel is perfect and of course all could use some updates. The Strand could use a 2nd women's bathroom on the 1st floor by the pool for example. But the beaches here are magnificent and the Strand provides fantastic customer service, perfect ocean front amwnities, and I absolutely loved my 8 days, 7 nights here. Thank You to the Strand for a great experience.

Yelp
Property needs many repairs. Air conditioner didn't cool very well. Ice machine on 9th floor never worked. Left my bag after checkout and called to see about it. James was rude, defensive, wouldn't listen to me, spoke over me, and then hung up. Had no compassion for my situation. The bag is very important to me and has sentimental value. He wouldn't listen to get any of that information. I asked for management and he said they weren't there. No supervisor. Then said he was the nighttime supervisor. And he acted like that!! He works in the hospitality business- but showed absolutely No hospitality!!!! Very disappointed and will never stay again or recomm it

Yelp
This is normally my favorite hotel but this time they are lacking, well housekeeping is lacking. We have the deluxe king suite and the floors feel like they haven't been swept in a month. The cabinets around the knobs aren't being cleaned, and the coffee maker was disgusting. Get it together.

Yelp
Our family stayed at the Strand 4 nights in a suite. June 5-8 2020. Loved our room. We had a one-bedroom suite which is spacious and the view of the beach and pool made it even better. Fireworks on the beach occasionally was nice to see at night. The hotel offers free breakfast and free parking. Due to the pandemic, we couldn't serve ourselves so staff gave the option to grab breakfast to go or dine in and be served. Both options were nice. Staff was nice. Housekeeping service is not offered so if you run out of towels or need clean linen be sure to call the front desk. We had no hskp service throughout our stay but if you wanted service you couldn't be present. Due to COVID-19 there were stipulations but we weren't aware until we received a note explaining it later in our stay. Otherwise, overall nice experience. Nice exterior decor. Excellent colors and ambiance. Nice fire pit and lounge chairs. Pretty turquoise pillows. Bar indoors near the cool. Relaxing hot tub. Cons I must mention : Dirty linen was left on the pull-out couch bed. When it was time to go to bed I had to call the front desk to request clean linen. I know housekeeping can be a tough job, but don't forget about the pull out beds. There was a red stain or some sort and crumbs. Parking: Although parking is free the garage is really tight and narrow. Almost chaotic because the walls are so close together when you're turning your vehicle. Management should implement renovations so guess can walk safely through out the garage without dodging other cars. Also opening up the square footage so we don't dent or scratch our cars or the walls while maneuvering in a tight space. Seems dated. They have mirrors installed so you see other cars, but that isn't helpful because the space is too small. Upgrade parking and it would be a good investment/improvement. Thanks!

Yelp
No house keeping service for the three days we were there. Nice room with great view. Breakfast was fine with a nice, bright room to eat in. I like the outdoor seating options.

Now I get it that the rooms are Not going to be thoroughly clean due to covid 19 while being occupied but what happens when the rooms are unoccupied there should be a thorough cleaning! We purchased products and Cleaned the room Ourselves! The breakfast was so so.. The ocean view was wonderful that we had The pool and jacuzzi was sufficiently pretty clean and so was the gazebo area as well... Overall....I would NOT return to this hotel nor recommend it and The funny part was the hotel came highly-rated recommended!! Trip typeVacation

Yelp
Had a great experience. Great view and great staff. The room was clean. Parking is a little awkward but I was on vacation so I didn't care. Everyone was happy and I would definitely stay again.

Yelp
The Strand Hotel is not the place to spend your vacation. We stayed there for four nights five days. The second day of our stay the air condition unit went out. The front desk suggested opening the balcony door until maintenance returns the next day. Housekeeping did not clean our room. I called front desk to have the room cleaned. That was a waste of time but you are charged for this service. The breakfast menu was the same for four days along with the flies. I emailed the manager ( David Crawford ) no response from him. Not a good hotel to stay at

Yelp
Well, let's start with parking garage. It's a nightmare. If you have a big vehicle be prepared to have a scrape or dent. The lobby is small but nice, but once you leave there the elevators and hallways have an odd "musky maple syrup smell?" You will get it. The rooms are not high on the Maintenance list either. Dated and worn appliances. Missing paint, thrown together for the next guest. I brought the Clorox wipes and Lysol thank goodness. Ummm the air return says it all. Hasn't been changed in months and months. They put me on a low floor after specifically requesting a higher floor. And this is just the beginning let's see what tomorrow brings.

Yelp
We come to Myrtle Beach a few times a year but have never stayed in a hotel, and usually stay closer to Surfside beach so we were a little nervous about making a change. But thankfully we had a fabulous experience at The Strand! From the moment we arrived every staff member we came into contact with was kind and friendly. They all seemed very genuine and seemed like they actually liked their jobs. I love that! Nothing worse than impersonal and scripted customer service... you won't get any of that here. The amenities are very nice; fresh chocolate chip cookies in the lobby, a free red-box style DVD rental kiosk (yes, FREE!), a delicious got breakfast, heated pool, clean workout room, nice bar, GREAT wifi, and a spacious hot tub. Our room was very comfortable. Beds and linens are nice. Our room had a mini kitchen complete with refrigerator/freezer, sink with dish soap, microwave, coffee maker, and all the cups, plates, and silver wear you could need. This would be very family friendly, can't wait to bring the kids back. We had the most beautiful view of the ocean from our room balcony. And this place was very reasonably priced. We will be back with the kids for sure, though it was also great for our anniversary trip. The ONLY reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it could be a little cleaner. Our room by no means felt dirty, but the bathroom needs a little more detailed attention. The lobby was great but the elevators don't feel clean. Overall, would absolutely stay again! We will be back without a doubt.

Yelp
I really want to give this hotel 5 stars. The ocean front suite was great, free movie rentals were wonderful and homemade cookies bnice touch on everything. Nice outdoor pool with jacuzzi and even the option for a indoor pool. Everything was great UNTIL I went to bed. The beeding was not changed from when someone threw up all over them. Called the front desk and they quickly changed out everything but STILL... I really liked the hotel and would try them again. This time I am going to triple check the room

Yelp
Room has disgusting. Furniture and carpet was old, smelled, chipped and Stained. Missing doorknobs. Air filter was nasty. Mold in the bathroom. Drain in bathroom sink never went down. Breakfast and bartend were the only plus

Erika S.

Yelp
Gross...dated, dingy and dirty. No fridge or ice on the floor. Definitely in need of a remodel

Yelp
The hotel was amazing ... the location Beautiful hotel.. very kind of you to give us breakfast... very unfortunate that the lady who served the breakfast very poorly polite.. also the lady of the front desk without any education... ... the lady at the bar very sweet, friendly ... very good service ... I appreciate the attention .. the only thing that they charged me several times a lunch because the system did not work .. the hotel is beautiful and the pool and "jacussi"(hot tub) spectacular ..

Yelp
Great location and nice staff! The door would get stuck and my wife would be unable to close or open it. The breakfast was decent but just glad they had it, because most hotels cancelled it all together! I felt safe the entire time! One elevator stopped working while we were here, but that's not their fault, stuff happens

Yelp
I booked a room at 12 o'clock on Friday and tried to check in at 5 PM and was told I had mistakenly booked the room for the next week. Honest mistake right? So what did the management of the Strand do? Told me to go forget myself, they weren't going to refund and rebook. So I rebooked the room myself and ate the charge. After waiting in line for 30 minutes to check in, because there was only one person working the desk and 4 people waiting in line, I went to my room and was totally underwhelmed and disappointed. Maybe it was the totally uncomfortable bed, or the 70s style ac/heater unit that sounded like a freight train every 10 minutes when it turned on, or maybe it was the missing and cracked tiles in the shower. Any whoo I was leaving at 5am anyway so I delt with it. Llater the same day I called to express my disappointment with their customer service and the front desk person told me how sorry she was for the inconvenience and she would call and speak with a manager and call me right back...within minutes. Twenty minutes later I call back and the front desk is ... changing shifts, so I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for a callback this time. Places like this is why Myrtle Beach is called Dirty Myrtle!

Yelp
It could have been worse, but I was expecting so much more based on the price and reviews. I am aware the beach properties cannot be held to the same standard as regular hotels due to the sheer volume of rooms & guests and the harsh, humid, and salty conditions. Check in was easy. They hold $100 on your debit or credit card, so be aware of that up front. There are 2 elevators for the property. We were on the 16th floor, so taking the stairs wasn't an option. There was often a long wait for the elevators. On the last day, employees were using one to transport linens to each floor instead of the service elevator. This was at 10AM, when the elevators are heavily used and people like us were trying to take our luggage down to check out. The lobby level was nice. The 2 bedroom unit (1654) was an utter disappointment. It was reasonably clean, other than crumbs in the living area. But, it was very worn and outdated. The couch was saggy and the beds were lumpy. The walls were very beat up, the master bedroom had an area that had recently been patched and then left that way. There was no tissue in the restroom and the toilet paper holder was missing the rod that holds the paper. The dishes in the cabinet were dirty. The view was fantastic. The bar area was small, but nice. The first morning we went to breakfast early and were very impressed. Lots of hot food, seating, and good service. The next morning we went later and it was utter chaos, most of the food was gone, screaming kids, NO COFFEE, and no employees to be seen. The last morning we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door until we were ready to go. The maids woke us up at 9:00, banging on the door. I could understand if we didn't have the sign on the door, but otherwise there is no excuse. The elevator in the parking garage was out of order. We had to park on the 5th floor, so that was disappointing. This was the most I have ever paid for a hotel, but justified it because the trip was for my husband's 50th birthday and I wanted to stay somewhere nice. Such a disappointment!
