This is a stylish boutique hotel. The finishes are wonderful and the service was fantastic. The location is also wonderful, close to tons of restraunts. However, it lacks some of the basics. I was shocked to find I didn't have a window!! Rooms are small with no convenient place to put anything. One side of the bed in Room 204 is completely broken down and extremely uncomfortable. The sink drains slow and the shower pan needs a good scrub. I would not stay more than one night but it was a cool experience.

The walls are like paper. I can hear EVERYTHING that is happening in the rooms next to me- and I do mean everything. I know all about the fact that some other sales rep really f$*%ing hates the dude to my right (who I'm assuming is also a sales rep, and who also apparently couldn't talk on his phone without pacing/stomping); I THINK that the next person who stayed there had tuberculosis, from all the coughing; I know that the 1st "lady" to my left is very "enthusiastic," if you know what I mean, and that she also can't hold her liquor; I know that the next couple who stayed in that room enjoys tub baths - and talking to the other member of the couple in the next room from the bath (which requires talking loudly); etc. I also was awakened at 2AM by someone smoking weed - it was like they were in the room with me. The rooms are cute - but not very functional - the "desk" is literally 12" wide. The lighting is poor - SUPER-bright bedside lights that you can only turn on and off with a switch that is around the corner from the bed, and SUPER-dim lights in the bathroom. The TV isn't a smart TV, so I had to stream my shows on my laptop. I'm here for 5 nights, so the fact that they don't clean the room unless requested is kind of a pain. I had to ask for new towels, and more coffee pods, coffee cups, and soap. There is a mini-fridge, but no microwave (so, unless you eat something cold, you have to order in or eat out). The location is great, but parking sucks. Overall, I think that it's not worth the price.

Stay Date: 4/11/25 We stayed in a King with no windows (upon request), which is great for people that love sleeping in pitch black dark. I loved it so much. I couldn't tell it was 9 am. Amazing. This is one of the best hotel beds I have ever slept in. Now, from photos, it does show bathtubs, but our room only had a shower. So, only some rooms have tubs and other have a big shower, and if this is important to you, just request one or the other. The rooms are small, but quaint. This is perfect for a couple in town. My only concern is that there is no front desk on duty from 11 pm to 7 am. This is a security concern to me. The computers were left with information pulled up, to where anyone could see vital information, so this poses a security risk if someone were to be malicious. The front door, which has a key pad for entry, is completely unlocked. I would feel more safe if cards were required for entry during these hours, but it is not. So if any emergencies were to happen during the middle of the night, there would be no one there to handle anything. I thought in these instances, calling the front desk might have someone on call, but it goes unanswered to voicemail. Someone did finally get up with us around 5:15 a.m., so I don't know if this was front desk or another member of staff, because we ran into a BBB employee that mentioned no one works overnights at the hotel. The other issue this poses is if you left your key in your room, there wouldn't be anyone to let you in. They do have an option for keys on your phone, but I encountered spotty service in the building a few times, so this isn't entirely reliable. Also, several of the main areas where key card entry looks required to have access to the rooms, it was not required and anyone could just walk in. This is a huge safety concern, but otherwise the stay was wonderful. Made to take down review upon manager’s request, simply because of a free night’s stay. 4/14/25 The manager/whoever said there is someone there overnight, but who knows where they were. However, a BBB employee and a dayshift employee confirmed that there is no overnight person on two separate occasions.

It is definitely not a place to go if your thinking your going to have a quiet and relaxing weekend. You can EVERYTHING!! Where do I even start! We could hear our neighbors conversation, the bar next to us, the party music from downstairs. It was so loud you could feel the vibrations from the music thru the floor!

The room was small and basic with an industrial view and a low hum presumably from the plantroom. The bathroom was well equipped but the shower mechanism is, to say the least, interesting. The staff, on the occasion of our visit, were very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for those visiting the university and, being cental, is conveniently located for bars and restaurants. The bar adjacent to the hotel is worth a visit for a beer, snack and decent music. Big Bad Breakfast is excellent. There is no dedicated parking and it is likely that a parking fine will be issued for using a public space by the hotel. Any ticket will be dealt with by the hotel staff.

Google
Positive: The convenience to food locations around the restaurant at the hotel was really nice Negative: The room was small sound traveled through walls

DO NOT STAY HERE! this was the worst hotel stay i have ever had in my life. First the room was so small, there was no room for a comfy chair or a desk. There was a "dining room" type chair in one corner. Not comfortable. When I asked about a desk to work at ,they said there wasn't any desk in the entire hotel I could use. This isn't really a hotel, it is a check in desk in a hallway with rooms upstairs. The hotel is historic, but seriously. Holes in the wall, exposed piping very Basic furnishings. In the bathroom i found a little string bag with a USED soap in it!!!. When it was time to go to bed, I pulled back my sheets to find Dirty sheets, with hairs all over it. I called and they came and changed the sheets but needless to say I barely slept all night. The window in the room was tiny and looked out over the roof and utilities. Nothing that was said in the advertisement was true. There was no "smart Tv" or nice furnishings. This place was a nightmare and I want to warn everyone not to stay there. The room i chose was a standard king. there are no amenities here. The room pictured on the hotel website was nothing like the room we got. My son was staying in the next room and his room was equally bad. After the sheets, I asked for a full refund of my room and they did give it to me, but I have to warn people not to s tay here.

Google
Pros: - walkable to downtown restaurants/shops - cable TV - easy check-in/out process Cons: - elevator was out of order due to power surge so had to carry luggage up and down the stairs to 3rd floor - felt like A/C was not working - room key card allowed initial access into room and then stopped working - disturbed sleep due to cars blasting music outside, sirens, yelling, etc. - cracked window in room - low lighting in bathroom

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel in the heart of Florence. Staff were very polite & helpful. Very late check-in was a breeze thanks to Molly! Room was clean and had everything we needed. This is in an older retrofitted building and has its idiosyncrasies, but it gives it a lot of charm and character. BBB (Big Bad Breakfast) shares the first floor and is accessible from the lobby. Mugshots (sports bar), Rosie's (Mexican) & 306 BBQ is within 500 ft. Would recommend.

Yelp
We were eager to spend a romantic anniversary evening in a room while the kids stayed with grandparents. From the entryway and the exterior it looks like a lovely updated boutique hotel. However, I hated the room without windows! Pros: nice bathtub, comfortable beds, secure entry, beautiful original wooden floors, great proximity to restaurants and bars. The shop downstairs is adorable and full of local Knick knacks and decor. Cons: the room without windows is comparable to staying In steerage on a ship. It's very small with little room to maneuver . There are pipes running along the ceiling that creak every time someone uses a toilet. Lighting is terrible. Room is so small that bathroom, closet, and entry doors can't open simultaneously without blocking one another. The a/c points at the bed and blows stale air on you at night. The pillows are equivalent to MyPillow lumps and very uncomfortable. Room service is HIGHLY overpriced for the quality. Iced coffee was $6.50! The Boiler Room was very crowded and loud. Overall, it was a nice experience, but for the money I'd rather stay at a holiday inn.

Yelp
This hotel is too loud at night to function. It is neither restful nor romantic. I'm so sad we booked here. Positives: nice tub/shower, blackout curtains, elevator for accessibility (during daylight hours only, for some reason). Boiler Room is a cute little rec area/dive bar with local music in the basement. The hotel is well-lit. The staff is polite. Negative: street parking, VERY loud- not only is the FloBama next door, but they pipe the music from the Boiler Room OUT ON THE SIDEWALK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GUEST ROOM WINDOWS late into the night. There is zero peace. Wifi connection is only fair. The elevator shuts down at night, there is no desk staff at night at all. Tip: if you must stay here, get a room with no windows.

Yelp
This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. I truly don't know where the good reviews come from. My first room didn't have a window. A room with no view at all. After 'ugrading' to a window room I found the window 6.5ft off the ground and maybe 2ft wide so still no view. Staff seemed disinterested. Parking is on the street at a meter. Basically told to park without paying. Noisy hotel with a live venue downstairs and chance to hear your neighbors conversation all day and night. There is no reason anyone would chose to stay at this hotel.

Yelp
First tip: if you're in a room with a tub and shower, pull down on the tub spout rim to activate the shower. I took a weird bird bath until someone told me how that works. Tip 2: if you call the desk after hours, hold on through the message and someone is always on call. I would gladly stay here again in a back corner room. I was in 302, where the view was terrible but the space was excellent for doing a workout between the bed and tv stand. It was quiet. I love the exposed brick and the decor but wonder why there are two gorgeous light fixtures flaming the bed with a switch by the bathroom. That means a reader like me had to relocate the lamp so I wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn out a light. I like that they give you what look like locally made toiletries (lotion, soap and even room spray). They smelled good. Staff were accommodating and checked on our group as guests and when using a meeting room to be sure we were satisfied. And to be right by Big Bad Breakfast and in a lovely walkable downtown made it just right. I didn't know why I'm not compelled to give it 5 stars but I certainly enjoyed being there.

Yelp
Where do I begin! The young lady who checked us in was very friendly, check-in was a breeze, the room was smaller than expected but the decor was awesome. Pros: The hotel is located in what we consider a downtown area. Lots of choices for drinks, food and we enjoyed a nice walk. The hotel has a bowling alley, a bar and live music and it's also connected to a restaurant. The decor in the hotel was beautiful, the room was setup very tastefully, the lights above the bed were very pretty and that touch of gold was awesome! Cons: The only complaint I have is the room was a lot smaller than I expected and the noise from the band was so loud we could hear it for hours. That was disappointing because we had a long drive and we really needed to rest. They also need some kind of parking options. Make no mistake about it, we will stay here again when we return to the area!

Yelp
While we wanted to love this place it was the first and last time we will be staying here. It's entirely way to loud I was kept awake till 415am by tons of loud noises coming from the streets, bars, and car alarms. Horrible!!! The room was super nice very old school antique feel.

Yelp
The Stricklin is very nice and decorated very elegantly. The only reason he gets four stars is because the rooms being downtown can be rather noisy. We were there on a Saturday night and the room backed up to where they were playing live music and it didn't stop till 2 AM. On Sunday night it was relatively quiet. Keep that in mind as you plan a trip to this area.

Yelp
Not everyone wants to sleep in the same bed. Sorry!! Two queens would be nice!!!!!!!!!! No pics. Trying to be cordial

Yelp
The cutest boutique hotel with exposed pipes, brick walls, and beautifully redone interior. Boiler Room (bowling/arcade/bar) in the basement level and Big Bad Breakfast right downstairs (for after checkout!), and so many eating options and bars within two blocks. Staff was friendly and the Mobile check-in/keys were very convenient. Will be staying again if we come back through town! Note: no designated parking and you can hear everything, not a con for me (it's in a downtown area and an older building, so to be expected) just worth noting.

Yelp
The room we stayed in was very small, which was fine. We were just there for one night. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. I noticed one wall right next to the bed a blue line going all the way to the ceiling. Realized it was the joint tape you could see through what honestly look like a very thin white wash of paint on the wall. The bathroom had no ventilation so it got very hot and muggy and steamy to even be in there. The lighting is terrible for putting on any kind of make up either the bathroom or in the room itself I had to go over by the window. There is a slight noise issue. You can hear your neighbors when they're talking. Parking is on the street unless you're there early in the day you probably will not get parking in front of the hotel or even on the main street. You're going to have to go a lot further distance. For the cost of the room I think they could have done a little better. I know they have bigger rooms. Maybe they put more money into those rooms than they did the smaller ones I don't know I wish I could give it a five star and say that it was fantastic but I can't it was OK.

Yelp
Beautiful and elegant mix of historic downtown Florence with modern decor and convenience. Helpful and friendly staff ready to accommodate your needs! The perfect venue for our baby shower! Thanks for a wonderful experience! Will definitely recommend to everyone!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel on Florence's main drive. We originally booked our stay for a month ago but had to change it twice due to my husband being in the hospital--I called to change dates twice thinking they'd say no refunds on cancellation like most hotels (especially day of), but the Stricklin was amazing and accommodating and easily changed our dates for us. So already the stay was off to a good start. We finally got to fulfill our booking last night. Super sweet front desk worker, very comfortable rooms and a beautiful modern style. Our room overlooked Court Street and all of downtown Florence. Because this is a college town, you might get done street noise off Court Street late at night, so if that's going to keep you up, request an interior room. 10/10 would stay here again!

Yelp
This beautiful hotel is downtown Florence. Its above in the basement a great bar,The Boilerroom. Directly below is a fantastic restaurant, Big Bad Breakfast so, you can stay in the direct downtown atmosphere with all the accommodations you could ever want, at your fingertips.

Yelp
A nice hotel in the middle of downtown Florence. Stayed there while my daughter had freshman orientation at UNA. Just about a 10 minute walk to the campus. Love the charm the hotel gave off. The room was very nice and the staff was great.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at The Stricklin Hotel for a short weekend getaway this past week. The hotel is located perfectly in downtown Florence amid great shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. We absolutely loved everything about our stay. From the furnishings to the location, it was just what we needed! We can't wait to return!

Brandy A.

Yelp
Very noisy no privacy Rooms are very small No lamps on bedside tables so we had to leave the tv on for a light The worst thing was no parking and having to carry your luggage down the street to check in Comforter was stained We like the Marriott better

Yelp
This is a gem of a hotel right in the heart of downtown Florence. I'm so glad I opted to stay here this past weekend for homecoming. I love how they've honored the historic building by keeping some of the exposed brick and fixtures, but also modernized it. The rooms are really nice - well-furnished & well-decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly. This is a versatile hotel - I'd stay here for a romantic long weekend, a girls' trip, or even a family getaway to check out the lions at UNA. It's walking distance to everything wonderful Florence has to offer, including the bars, restaurants, and shops downtown (none of which were there when I was a student at UNA! Florence is so cool now!). I enjoyed a cocktail in the Boiler Room, which is a great little family-friendly game room/bowling alley, and devoured my Big Bad Breakfast the next morning. It's going to be hard to convince me to stay anywhere else in Florence from here on out.

Yelp
Love, and I mean LOVE, the design, concept, feel.....it's all awesome! Need blackout curtains if you are facing the street, way too much light comes in from street and hard to sleep. Hotel is very loud, so bring a noise maker or use their clock which has white noise on it, and they provide ear plugs. Not ideal, but it's a really cool spot and worth it.

Yelp
This hotel has some potential. However there are some areas for improvement such as parking and shower. The area is a little iffy at night and i was kind of worried about my car. You have to either find street parking or park in a gravel lot around the corner that has pot holes that could potentially break an axel! Anywho the hotel itself it cute and updated. The shower is so fancy I could not figure out how to turn on the shower and there was no one at the front desk to tell me how ... I had to do a splash bath... the hotel has a loud bar in the basement so you need to get a 3rd level room to avoid noise. I thought it was odd they advices me my alarm clock was also a white noise machine...now I get it. There does not seem to be staff at night at desk and the bar crowd and people on the street can meander around so be mindful.

Yelp
We came from Birmingham for New Years for a spur of the moment trip with our 8 year old. The hotel was absolutely charming! I personally loved the interior design throughout the hotel from the plumbing to the paint colors, paintings, lighting.. The staff was very accommodating, they even brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne and party hats. It was great too because it poured rain and we were able to hang out at the bowling alley and walk to all the restaurants. Overall, a great weekend getaway and would come back.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at The Stricklin last weekend! We really enjoyed our stay. The room was so cozy. We loved the combination of the historical details and the modern furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. On the night of our stay we walked to Ricatoni's for dinner and then came back and went down to the Boiler Room located in the basement of the Hotel. We had a great time playing darts! We would have bowled on one of the vintage bowling lanes but I didn't pack any socks. Upon checkout we ate breakfast at the BBB located in the hotel and it was amazing! We used to stay at the Marriott when we would come to Florence but this is going to be our new spot for all of our future trips!

Pam W.

Yelp
This is a good little hotel if you like historical places. Definitely nice and well done. Our room was street side, so it was very noisy, as you can hear all of the people outside as well as cars, horns, talking, etc. We enjoyed our stay, but room darkening curtains would be nice. The Boiler Room in the basement was a blast and Big Bad Breakfast offered up an awesome first meal. Great addition to downtown Florence.

Dave Y.

Yelp
This is the worst stay I have ever had. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The only good part about this hotel was being able to go to the best bar in florence, which is right next door. Flobama should sue the Stricklin hotel for bringing the neighborhood property down.
google avatar

Dorothy H.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place. We had heard great things about it. Unfortunately, we cannot give the Strickland hotel a good review. Not only was our reservation messed up; they did not have our first night booked into the correct room and we had to stay in a smaller room, but when they put us in the correct room for the second night they put us in a room directly over a bar called the "Flobama". We knew when we checked in and we saw ear plugs made available in our room that that was a bad sign but we had no idea just how loud it was going to be! Needless to say we did not sleep until well after 2 AM when the bar closed. When we told the girl at the front desk about the noise she asked if we had used the white noise machine? If you have to use earplugs AND a white noise machine I don't believe that those rooms should be made available for rent. In addition, the other reason for the two stars is because there is no parking for this hotel. When we arrived we were told we had to park two blocks away and bring our own luggage through the streets in the rain. Note, since posting this review the general manager did call us and refunded one night stay in the room over the bar and we are appreciative of this!

Teresa J.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here over the weekend. We had an absolutely lovely time. The staff was very, very friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly Boiler Rom downstairs. If our travels ever take us back to this cute little city, we will definitely stay there again! Did I mention the betting was fabulous? I'll

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying at the Stricklin Hotel over the weekend. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Hotel's charm is completely mesmerizing. Can't wait to visit again.
