23 Best Hotels in Florence

"Offering great facilities, a young vibe, and a location that is in easy reach of the central sights, the well-priced Social Hub (formerly The Student Hotel) is not just for students. Occupying an entire corner block on the ring road that circles the west of the city center, the spot burst onto the scene in 2018. The 19th-century building (20,000 square meters of ex-office space incorporating a spacious courtyard garden ) houses both long-term student accommodation and hotel rooms whose keen prices attract a real mix of savvy backpackers, older independent travelers, families, and hip young business folk. The bars and restaurants also attract locals who don’t want to battle with the traffic and parking problems in the centro storico. The neighborhood sits northwest of the city center, an area of imposing 19th century palazzi (mostly converted into business premises), swirling traffic, and few residents, but it’s only two tram stops from Santa Maria Novella train station from where there is easy access to everything you will want to see and do." - Nicky Swallow, Erica Firpo

The Social Hub Florence

"Why book? Offering great facilities, a young vibe and a location that is in easy reach of the central sights, the well-priced Social Hub (formerly The Student Hotel) is not just for students. The rooftop pool and bar area is reason enough to book in the height of summer. Set the sceneOccupying an entire corner block on the ring road that circles the west of the city center, Florence’s Student Hotel burst onto the scene in 2018. The facilities were designed with long-term student leases and co-working spaces in mind and not just tourists; there is a hairdresser, a bike repair shop with bikes for rent, a music store, and a smart concept store. The fabulous rooftop terrace with its view over the Florence skyline, pool, XL sun loungers and bar is a magnet for a cool crowd in the summer months. The backstoryThe Netherlands-based TSH group ‘where boutique hotel meets student dormitory’ was founded by Scottish CEO Charlie McGregor and now has 15 hotels in Europe including Bologna, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid and Paris; a new 500-room TSH is due to open in Florence in 2024. The idea was to create a series of co-living, co-working hybrids where students could be encouraged to mix with short-term guests in a lively, stimulating setting with exceptional facilities. The roomsThis place is huge although it doesn’t feel that way thanks to the clever design; 390 rooms are divided between fairly basic long-term student accommodation and hotel rooms which are available to book on a daily basis. Recalling higher-end student digs, rooms are functional, bright, and clean with fitted furniture, cork message boards, and bright textiles. Room service is very reasonable and there are kettles, Nespresso machines, and fridges. Food and drink The rooftop bar is a prime spot for drinks and snacks; choose from a menu of 14 signature cocktails and Italian tapas-style snacks and sharing plates (tartare, platters of local cheeses, charcuterie, and the like). The ground floor bistro-style restaurant offers breakfast plus an all-day menu that covers all the bases; pasta dishes, panini, club sandwiches, and a choice of healthy bowls. The neighborhood/area To the northwest of the city center, this is an area of imposing 19th century palazzi (mostly converted into business premises), swirling traffic, and few residents, but it’s only two tram stops from Santa Maria Novella train station from where there is easy access to everything you will want to see and do. The service Cool and kind. You can either check in virtually or at a conventional desk with a human. The young, smiley staff are on hand to help guests find their way around the city and the regularly changing program of events includes yoga classes, crash courses in how to be a DJ, art exhibitions, and live music. For familiesTSH is a good choice for families traveling on a budget; the self-catering apartment sleeping four is the best value solution although there are lots of interconnecting rooms. The large courtyard garden is a plus. Accessibility There are 10 adapted rooms; the hotel is fully accessibleAnything left to mention? The Student Hotels are all cash free, so don’t forget your plastic." - Nicky Swallow

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The views from my room were one of the best I've seen in Florence - breathtaking! The staff was incredibly accommodating, and when I mentioned that the airflow in our room was a bit still, they promptly delivered a fan to our door upon my return. The rooftop bar was another highlight - not only did it have an amazing view, but the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about their creative drink recommendations. And speaking of attentive service, the restaurant at the hotel really stood out. We were initially seated outside, but when it started to drizzle, the server kindly offered to move us inside for dinner, which we happily accepted. One of the best things about this hotel is its location - it's just a short walk from the primary train station in Florence, Santa Maria Novella. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Florence.

Hotel is very beautiful and delicately set. You can observe each and every minute details put up perfectly. Feels like room was setup carefully with perfection for you. Also staffs are really helpful and welcoming. Main plus is the roof top bar. You can enjoy amazing sun set from there which has a pool side view.

The main reason we selected this hotel was because of the pool and its amenities like the laundry. However both of these proved to be a pain to use. The pool was impossible to use unless you were there to grab a spot at 9am when they open or maybe around 12pm when some people would go to lunch. But as a tourist planning to do some exploring in the morning and pool lounging in the afternoon, it was impossible. We read the pool was by reservation, however they removed the reservations and now it is impossible to find a spot after 1pm. The “hotel” is very big with 200+ rooms and the pool area is the size of a room, so not enough space for even half the guests. The laundry was another appeal of this place, however you can only use 1 machine at a time and it only has one setting which is 40 minutes so if you have clothing that need to be washed separately then you will spend half a day here doing laundry. Even if you want to pay for the extra machine, you can’t because it’s all handled through an app. Additionally, there is no space to add your detergent, it says the machine already dispenses it. However while washing my load it all looked clear and like there was zero soap. The hotel is a mix of students and tourists, but is more catered to students with tourist prices (breakfast was €17.50 if reserved ahead of time or €19.50 on the spot, insane!). Because the building is so big not all areas connect, so you might have to take 2-3 elevators to reach your destination depending where you are. The rooms are nice and modern, but the AC inside is weak, we had to buy a fan to be able to sleep in the summer when the temperature was rising to 100’F. The rest of the room was ok, bathrooms were clean and the room had a minimalist style which I appreciate. Overall I am giving it 3 stars because the main appeal for staying in this hotel versus one closer to city center was the pool & laundry and we were unable to use either one properly. Additionally, the distance from any main attraction is an average of 20 minutes which is inconvenient if you need to come back mid day for a break. Because of this, I would recommend staying somewhere closer to city center.

The stay was excellent. Rooftop pool is not too big,but clean and everyone found a good place for himself.Drinks and food - overpriced, but not more than any other rooftop bar with the view like this. .And the view is the 💎.Bed is hard but it’s the question of preference. My room was next to the lift, but slept like a baby.,which is not usually the case. Location is great- 10 min walking to the Cathedral or central market and tram to the airport right in front of the entrance.Clean and luggage storage available. Absolutely loved the place.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Social Hub Lavagnini. It’s clean, modern, and well-designed with a young, international vibe. We’re in our early 30s and felt like we fit right in. It’s ideal for younger travelers or anyone who prefers something more relaxed and social than a traditional hotel. An older couple might feel a little out of place, but that depends on what kind of atmosphere you’re after. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Anytime we needed something, they handled it quickly and with a great attitude. The common areas downstairs are a real highlight. There’s lots of space to work, hang out, or meet other travelers. It really does have a community feel, just like the reviews say. There’s also a rooftop with a pool and bar. It’s nice to have, but to be honest, we didn’t find the bar particularly exciting. More of a perk than a destination. It’s about a 25-minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio and the historic center, so you’ll be doing a bit of walking each day. Still, we thought the location was a good balance; close enough to everything, but far enough to be out of the thick of the crowds. For the price and the comfort of the hotel, it felt totally worth it. Overall, a great spot if you’re looking for a clean, stylish, and social place to stay in Florence.

this hotel was located pretty close to the center of the city, which was great, and the amenities (pool etc.) were great, and the room looked really good. as time passed however, we were quite disappointed ; we had no body wash in the room and had been given only two pillows for two people (other rooms actually had four). we also only had coffee the first day, as it was never refilled even when we asked reception and they told us they would bring it up to us. room service was okay, but they would come at all hours of the day, which made it difficult for us to be sure to leave the room before they got here. it was also pretty noisy during the night, especially as we were a few meters away from an elevator that was creaking all day and night. it was still a nice stay for a few days, but a confusing experience at times.

The hotel was very nice, especially the rooftop bar. The location was perfect – close to the tram and the main train station.||||The beds had a firmer mattress, but the room was clean. The TVs should be replaced soon because they were not the best (small picture and slow).||||I highly recommend this hotel! I would stay here again. <3 We felt very comfortable!

Swiss Air cancelled our flight late on June 26th and we did not arrive at the hotel until around 8pm the next night. Elisa worked over 20 minutes to switch our reservation from the 26th to the 27th and we were so very grateful to her that she took the time to help us. The hotel is brand new and has a lot of fun amenities that we wish we had time to use. When we got back to the hotel after midnight there were still about 30 people socializing in the lobby/game center. I think the hotel did a good job making it a fun atmosphere. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the shower had great pressure, the room had a mini-bar/fridge and the roof-top pool was lovely. Unfortunately we left before breakfast but I am sure it would have been a good one. Social Hub saved the day and put an end to a long string of bad events. Thank you!
