I’m still dreaming of the long weekend I spent at The Summer House last July. If you’re like me and had only experienced Nantucket through Elin Hilderbrand books, your expectations will absolutely be both met and exceeded. From the moment you arrive, the property is incredibly charming with a green lawn, purple hydrangeas, and cottages tucked beneath mature trees. And our cottage (we stayed in Sloop), was even better than I had imagined. It felt authentically New England with a white pitched ceiling and antique art, but it also felt comfortable and well-maintained, like it’s been updated in all the right ways. One of the most special aspects of this property, though, has to be The Summer House Restaurant. On any given evening, you’ll find a small crowd singing around the piano late into the night. It has a sense of rare, local charm—like, if you know you know. We also loved Sunday brunch (get the lobster benedict). Everything is high quality and thoughtfully prepared. Nantucket has become one of my very favorite travel destinations because of The Summer House. I’m already counting down the days till I can return. If you’re on the fence, don’t be—this place is the one!

Our stay at the Summer House was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, my two young children were enchanted by the charming cottages that seemed straight out of a fairy tale. The pool was a huge hit with the kiddos! The location of the resort is ideal, with a short and gorgeous walk to the nearby town, playground, cliff walk and beach. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, especially the wonderful hostess! The cottage itself was cozy, clean, and well-equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. We loved the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful nature that enveloped the resort. Make sure you check out the spectacular sunrise just steps from your door! We can’t wait to return and create more magical moments at this wonderful refuge next year!

This is the most magical place on the East coast! My family and I finally had our reunion at the summer house this year. The restaurant service was impeccable even when we showed up with all 20 of us! The whole lively scene with the piano bar and all the neighborhood regulars couldn’t have been more fun. Excellent pasta, fish, and the best lobster roll we had anywhere on the island! Waking up in the cottages with the sound of the ocean waves really tops it off. It’s unique, comfortable, and beautiful!

I spent last weekend at the Summer House with my family and I am completely blown away. It is located in beautiful Sconset - there are few more idyllic places to spend a weekend. The Summer House cottages were quaint and right out of a storybook. They were clean and well-maintained. Even the bed was so comfortable. Moving onto the food. During the afternoons we spent lunchtime at the Bistro - the restaurant by the pool and beach. The bar was so much fun to hang out at, and the tables were relaxing. At night we had dinner in the main restaurant. It’s a beautiful restaurant and felt really elevated. The food in both restaurants was perfect. Everything I ate was so delicious and beautiful, you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The service at the restaurants was top-notch, and we felt like our needs were always accommodated. We felt relaxed and welcome throughout our entire stay. I highly recommend the Summer House for your next Nantucket vacation - you don’t want to miss out on this.

Perfect getaway in Sconset If you're seeking a serene escape with picturesque views, look no further than The Summer House. Nestled on the water's edge, this hidden gem offers clean, comfortable cottages that are both charming and well-maintained. The tranquil atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to unwind and recharge. One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to the Summer House Restaurant with its Famous Piano Bar and the Beachside Bistro both within steps from our cottage. They served up delightful meals with fresh ingredients and impeccable service. Whether you're craving seafood or a gourmet experience, the restaurants cater to every taste. Overall, our experience at The Summer House was nothing short of wonderful. The combination of a cozy cottage by the water, fantastic dining, and the friendliest staff imaginable made our stay memorable. We can't wait to return!

Favorite place on Nantucket. If you want rest and relaxation, beautiful surroundings, friendly staff that knows your name, well appointed rooms, great food and drink, this is your place. It’s everything you could imagine in being within and exclusive community yet accessible to so much. The Casino, downtown, the beach, it’s all right there. The wonderful owner presides over the establishment nightly. She made us all feel like a part of the family.

Had a wonderful visit over Memorial Day Weekend. The cottage was very cute and very comfortable. Totally old school 'Sconset. The staff is fantastic. Food in the restaurant is delicious and the bar (along with iconic piano player) is probably my favorite in the world. Also, there is nothing like waking up in the morning, exiting your cottage with your cup of coffee, and immediately seeing the Atlantic ocean. That's now way I always want to start each and every day.

Yelp
The location is just perfect. Sparkling pool and steps away from a welcoming beach. The cottages are cozy and charming. I have never stayed in Sconset, Now it is my favorite!!! The people and dogs were quite friendly. There is a precious market that sells daily provisions and well curated souvenirs. Can not wait to return!! Thank you to the staff at The Summer House Cottages for such a pleasant, memorable experience!!

Yelp
** 900th review ** Summer House Inn is an amazing place to stay in 'Sconset. As a surprise, my fiance took me here, and we stayed in Gig cottage. Of the handful of cottages, this one had a jacuzzi, its own kitchen area, and its own tv/couch area. Summer House is an incredibly romantic, private, and quaint space to stay. The staff members were really friendly and accommodating. I feel so lucky to have had the experience to stay here.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Lilac Cottage in Sconset. The Summer House was supposed to provide a crib for our baby to sleep in and did not show up with one until 9pm on our second night there. We called many times after arriving and spoke in person to a manager and they still did not bring a crib over after telling us it would be there shortly. Our family didn't sleep the first night because our baby did not have a safe sleeping space. One full night and day of our three night stay was ruined. Our room had ants and we found them in the bed and on the floor/walls on our first night. The entire Inn was under construction which was not communicated to us upon booking and full rate was paid. Hammering and sawing all day starting at early hours. The room was supposed to have a functioning jacuzzi tub and the tub would not fill (broken drain). We returned to our cottage after a day out to find someone's dirty underwear on the middle of our floor. Our Adirondack chairs were taken by an employee and moved to another guests room after our first night there. The cottage that we stayed in was advertised as having personal Adirondack chairs outside our door with ocean views. Chairs were never replaced.

Yelp
I love the Summer House!! The cottages are so quaint and very clean. The staff was extremely welcoming and helped us with all of our needs. Dinner at the Beachside Bistro was just perfect! The staff was very friendly and hardworking and the food was amazing. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
I have been waiting 4 months to get a refund for a room cancellation I made back in June. I have called at least a dozen times and my only recourse is to leave a message with the third party reservation service. No one has ever called me back. I spoke to Francesca two months ago and she promised me she would process the credit on my card. This is a terrible way to treat guests under any circumstance.

Yelp
BAIT AND SWITCH: We were so dissapointed with our recent experience. We paid over $1,800 for 3 nightfor for two rooms and kitchen. What we got was one room and no kitchen. It was a horrendous room with bugs on pillow case. When we complained, they ended up giving us what we paid for - 8 Miles away from town! We had to Uber serveral times to get to town. New rooms smelled moldy and lacked quality. One positive aspect was that it was right in front of a quite beach. No real apologies from the owner. I will never stay in this place and highly recommend anyone to avoid. Avoid this place.

Yelp
I've stayed at Cagney, which was perfect, cozy and plenty big with a giant tub. I thought it couldn't get any better until I stayed at The Grey Lady, which was so enormous that calling it a "cottage" is silly. The beds were comfortable. It's right on the water. The on site restaurant is top of the line. The piano bar was great and the fireplaces are a nice touch on a cool Nantucket night. There is no place like The Summer House anywhere. I love it there.

Yelp
We love the Summer House Cottages in 'Sconset, Nantucket! We've been coming here for several years and always can't wait to return. It is one of the last bastions of "real Nantucket" on the island. So many things conspire into making this a unique and special place. The small cottages are authentic, charming, and romantic. There is easy access to the pool and one of the best beaches on Nantucket. Lunch on the beachside terrace and dinner at the Summer House are divine. The things we love the most, though, are a simple breakfast of fruit and muffins, the super-casual laid-back days, opening the windows of our cottage at night and feeling the sea breeze and seeing the stars above, being surrounded by nature -- and yet having important luxuries at hand: a bottle of champagne, an excellent meal, an after-dinner run with your husband on the beach in your beautiful dinner dress, sandals in hand....
