Very reasonably priced. Had a nice lawn chair with the wife. The staff was very friendly. Enjoyed the french fries with my patty melt. Pretty good onion rings. Big selection. Didn't have to wait long at all. Restaurant was very clean kitchen looked very clean.

Good food for a good price. They make everything fresh and it is decent portion size. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of seating inside and outside. Dog friendly outside. A good place for families. Specify if you want your burger on a bun, they default to toasted bread, which is good but can be frustrating if you don't realize it the first time. Food is worth the drive

Summer House is always a great restaurant. The staff is consistently friendly, and the food is great. They have relatively short wait times and a variety of menu options. Their fries are super crunchy. The ice cream is delicious! They also have kid friendly options, including high chairs and a kids menu. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Nostalgic Indoor/Outdoor order at window and wait to hear your number. Everything is made to order, delivered promptly. My first visit. Family has been going there for many years. We had a veggie burger, clam strips, and curly fries. Outdoor picnic tables or lots of indoor tables. Everything was exactly as expected. Will definitely be back.

A nice road side diner. It does exactly what it says, the food is quick and a little greasy and the flavor is good. The back has lots of room for kids to run and play and the inside has plenty of seats if you just want a quick fix. Don’t come here with a vegetarian gluten free diet, but for the rest of us it is a great summer meal and very family friendly.

Great local independent fast food and ice cream establishment. Soups, chili, wraps also on the menu. Easily accessible, ample parking, handicap and family friendly. Food is consistently good. Unique desserts like Strawberry Shortcake (seasonal). The locals love this place. Mainly staffed by high schoolers. Used to be only open in the summer decades ago. Is now a year round operating restaurant. I have visited the restaurant over the last forty years periodically. It is a fun local joint with good food.

I have crushed an insane amount of summer house in my time on this planet. Growing up in Southwick it's a house hold name. The hot dog makes me go crazy. I could eat 5 in a row. I might hurt after but it's totally worth it. I highly recommend the Summer house for any occasion.

Love love love this place. Classic old fashion diner style where you order from the counter and then call out your number. Must hav a cheeseburger slider aka grilled cheese burger. Driven by this place dozens of times and wasn't sure it sold more than ice cream. So I was surprised with the food options. I also didn't realize how large the place is both inside and out. I thought you could only order outside but you can do it both ways. Outside in the back especially is kid friendly. It was super busy on a Saturday at lunch time so there was a bit of a wait for food which is understandable. They never called out our number and just put the food out but we figured it out quickly. I would say the portions were small but the prices were very reasonable so that balanced it out. Overall a good experience and would return.

Went here with my mom and grandma for lunch today. Ordered grilled cheeses and what they call a "BIG Cheeseburger", which instead of having buns, has two pieces of grilled bread, which I thought was totally cool, and we had some delicious ice cream, including a Smores sundae, to finish off our meals. The decor was cool inside, the food, while not 5 star gourmet, was good and filling, prices were good, and we definitely plan on returning back as soon as we can. If you're in the mood for a quick bite to eat that's not too pricey, this is a good spot.

A "Local Staple" is how my sis referred to Summer House. Burgers, dogs, sandwiches and an ice cream shop- what is not to love? John and I both got burgers and onion rings and I foolishly added mozzarella sticks too.... and a root beer float. I don't know what I was thinking- I was happy and hungry and going for comfort-junk food. I almost finished the root beer float. Ate most of my delicious burger. Shared onion rings with my nieces and John helped with the mozzarella sticks. We sat outside to let the little ones run and play on the wooden train and just enjoyed the sun and brisk air. John had to go back for an ice cream cone- of course! Chocolate-vanilla swirl and never even thought about offering me a bite. hmph. That's ok- I had ice cream yesterday.

I've been coming to the Summer House for years, and it's always had the same great food I can rely on every time. Their curly fries are a must! If you're visiting in the summer they have excellent icecream, crisp and colorful salads and the all American hot dogs and hamburgers. If you're coming in the winter, warm up with a tomato soup and grilled cheese. Yum! Summer nights aren't the same without ending the evening with an ice cream cone. Sometimes the line is huge, but it goes quickly. I highly recommend for affordable and casual dining. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and lots of parking.

I was looking to try a new local ice cream spot and I heard good things about Summer House. The options go beyond ice cream, offering some basic kid-pleasing fare. Seems like a great spot to bring the family or the team for burgers, dogs, and ice cream. They have a clean and spacious outdoor seating area and extra parking around the back. We ordered from the take out window and found the menu to be a little chaotic and confusing. If you're new like we were, it's hard to decipher what they offer. The menu displays appeared disjointed with no clear logic to the layout and the soft serve options are limited. My husband and I ordered kiddie size soft serve in a dish. Both the quantity of ice cream and price are sensible; we paid less than $5. I got the Orange Creamsicle and twisted it with vanilla, which was great. He ordered a coffee soft serve also twisted with vanilla. We are huge fans of coffee ice cream and this one has a pretty mild coffee flavor comparatively. Summer House is pretty good and worth a try.

Because I always associate Summer House with the summer, and because I am so sick of this GD snowy winter, I tried some mind over matter manipulation today and went to Summer House for a cone and tried to "will away" the cold weather and snow. This place is a treasure - its like stepping into a time warp into a small family friendly burger and ice cream shack.The burgers, dogs, grilled sandwiches, clubs and wraps are priced the way Fonzie would have bought them. You'd be hard pressed to find anything here for over $5. But the star here is ice cream in all of its glorious permutations. Hand packed, soft serve,shakes, floats, frappes, coolers, slushes, sundaes, dips-crunch coats-flavor bursts -- you'll be light headed trying to make a choice. I ordered a "small" raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt on a sugar cone- and it was embarrassingly huge. Cost me about $3. So go- take a ride into the country to a wonderful small town, be served by an army of young, competent, and friendly smiling faces. And don't forget to give those snow banks the evil eye....

My Dog loved the Ice Cream he gives it a four paws..he liked the fire hydrants and the mini hiking path in the back of the store. t's all about presentation The children enjoyed the ice cream too. The food is a bit on the greasy side hamburger fries onion rings. Good place for people visiting the lake with kids.

We love soft serve season--and we love the Summer House! Great soft serve, big servings, good pricing...it's just one of our fave spots to indulge when we're in the area (and sometimes even to just drive out to). The kids at the window are always friendly, and there's a ton of parking as well as ample seating to kick back and enjoy your sweet treat. Everyone is chatty and smiling because, well, soft serve! I always get a small twist with cherry dip, and the hubby (a purist) gets as much vanilla as they can swirl into a cup. They've got some interesting-sounding confections of their menu, so I may have to give them a go sometime. But even if I never get anything but my regular, I'm a happy lady!

This is the single greatest restaurant in Southwick, MA. Maybe even the world. We'll have to see what Guy Fieri says if he ever visits. MY POINT IS- this place is incredible. I've been coming to The Summer House ever since I was a kid and have been consistently impressed ever since. Thankfully, it isn't pure nostalgia that blinds me to the quality of this establishment. The food served here is always excellent, hot, cheap, and served with a pleasant demeanor. The ice cream is amazing and you always go in knowing you can grab a cone of something different every time you go, thanks to regularly changing specials listed below the standard flavors (which is extensive, and keeps regulars coming back for more!). You may have to wait in line for a small bit to get your order in, but overall the staff works harder than any chain fast food place I've ever been to. Their efficient, friendly, and make it clear that they have an understanding of the value of their work. Thank you, Summer House, for many years of joy and a multitude more to come.

Summer house is awesome!!! My favorite thing for food has got to be to wit chicken tenders and their French fries, and for my favorite ice cream flavor has got to be their peppermint stick and their blue goo

Leaving one star because I got to Summer House at 9:07 and was very excited to get some ice cream. When I got there, the doors were locked and no one approached us at the screen windows where ice cream was served to tell us they were closed (several people where still inside and they just ignored us at the screen windows). The hours state they are open until 9:30pm on Saturday. Huge disappointment.

Good cheap eats! Food is simple...burgers, fries, soups...nothing is homemade persay but its good quality none the less. You won't go broke getting lunch or dinner and you'll walk away full! Only spot i can grab a malted milkshake too!

Food is meh. Just a long standing town ice cream place that has ok food. An average soft serve ice cream place. Same for burgers, sandwiches, & soups.

Amazing local family restaurant. Although they have an indoor dining option, this restaurant has a quick service window on the front. The food is a great value for the quality! I would highly recommend this restaurant for anybody looking for family friendly food at a great value!

This restaurant is probably going to lose their license to serve food because workers making ice cream orders have their masks around their chins and were seen touching their noses and face with the same gloves that they used to touch everything involved in the ice cream orders from the spoons, cups, cones and sprinkles. When asked why the worker was not wearing her mask property while touching orders she claimed she doesn't have to be wearing it by law if she isn't interacting with customers. So people can be breathing on what you are about to be eating but only the cashiers need to wear a mask? In response to the owner's comment I did not visit with the individual named Shannon who also wrote a review. Sounds like there were a lot of issues on Sunday, I am glad you are working towards ensuring masks are worn.

Stumbled upon this place after going to the beach nearby. I was craving something sugary and refreshing so this place was the perfect spot. The outdoor setting reminds me of the beach walk near my hometown so it definitely feels nostalgic coming here. I tried the sherbet cooler, chicken burger, fries, and swiss mushroom burger. The sherbet cooler is a must-get item if you need a refresher. It's made with sherbet and seltzer. It's a great combination of sweet and fizzy. I got a large and finished it in one sitting. The chicken burger was a little on the dry side, but the mayonnaise made up for it. The swiss mushroom burger was so much better. I loved the buttered crispy toast that it came with. The swiss cheese inside was nice and gooey and the meat was juicy. The fries were of course just as delicious and crispy. For the inexpensive price and generous portions..you really can't go wrong here.

Nice little spot to stop in the summer (go figure) tons of outdoor seating and nice park like feel. Food is the traditional burger/car hop place. It's not bad for the price and the portion size is good. They also have an outdoor walk up window where you cant get ice cream and milkshakes. I typically go here while I am out on my motorcycle.

We vacationed on Lake Congamond in July and we passed this cute little place The Summer House on the way, and stopped in for a late lunch. My husband had the burger and I had the chicken burger with onion rings which was light and crispy and fried to perfection! I topped mine off with the best Almond Joy sundae I have ever had. Even though I ordered the small it was so big I could barely finish it but so tasty I forced myself. It's a good thing I don't live close enough or I would be here twice a week.

For years I have been going to the Summer House with my family. Up until I'd say the past 18 months service has been great! Today I'm finally saying this. "Steve, train or retrain your staff! For the past 18 months your service has been slowly going to crap!" I had to repeat the order completely twice and then a third time on a couple of items. Then when the order was ready, it was partially incorrect still! I returned my food. No one said anything to me. I walked away and no one came to the table to ask about the food issues. We left the Summer House after my family finished their lunch to watch the staff hanging around and just staring at us. So now you have my money, your tip you obviously do not deserve and now you have this review. That all said. TRAIN YOUR STAFF TO BE MORE CONSCIOUS OF WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! And I am required to give a star however you shouldn't get any.

Decent prices for what it is. The food is nothing to write home about but its kindof one of those places that you have to go when you live around the area. Ice cream is good but nothing too spectacular. Good spot to go on hot days.

It took us almost 2 years after moving to New England to find anything that could stand up to our favorite burger and ice cream joint, Braums. Summer House is even better. Get the curly fries, chicken burger or hand burger. Soft serve and mixes are . So happy to have found our new favorite place!

Absolutely disgusting. Only go here if you want to get covid. Watched an employee pick her nose with a glove on and then make a soft serve with those same gloves and no mask. Eat with caution.

I worked at the summer house back when I was a teenager, and still continue to eat here 25 years later. The Summer House is great for groups of people who want simple food made quickly. Grilled cheeses, hot dogs, burgers, fries. They offer veggie burgers, vegetarian soups, salads and gluten-free bread as alternatives to the traditional grill fair. One of the great things about this place, is they have a consistently kid friendly menu including dinosaur nuggets and curly fries. I've met no child that can't find something to eat here. That actually says a lot. While they do not have some of the crazier flavors that some of the other ice cream stands offer, they do have a good selection of hard ice cream, the delicious twist soft serve, yogurt options and sorbet, shakes and sundaes. You can also call your order in ahead of time.Even in the winter, they keep the dining area at a very comfortable temperature so don't be afraid to try it out. During the summer, the kids love to romp around on the train outside or explore in the back woods.

We just stopped in on a whim because we saw a crowd and a sign for ice cream. We got some delicious soft serve for the family and sat in a shaded table in the back. The kids played on the "train" and said they can't wait to come back. We didn't get food but were super jealous of all the food all around us, it looked great! This place just screams summer!

Yummmmm. This place was cheap ($15 for lunch for three, $9 for ice cream for three) and soooo good. I took my grandma here yesterday because she loves it and I see why. We both got the light bites which were half a sandwich (tuna for me, turkey for her), a cup of soup (vegetarian Broc Cheddar, omg), and a small soda. My BF got the Big Cheeseburger Melt and a large soda. Kind of confusing to order because I kept looking at the side and I forgot to order the BF fries because they come separate. But seriously, I could eat that broccoli cheese soup forever. And the server says it has no chicken broth. So I am in heaven. The BF was happy with the cheeseburger melt and it was on bread and didn't look too too big. I think he was mostly happy he was getting ice cream later. The dining room was clean and they call your numbers (though kind of softly in the dining room) when your food is ready. We found a seat for gma and she was very happy with her lunch. Afterwards we went outside to order ice cream and sat at one of their numerous picnic tables. I ordered the small peanut butter cup sundae, BF got the banana split, and Gma opted for a kiddie pb cup. BF and Gma were happy but I was a little disappointed by the pb cup sundae. The girl asked what kind of ice cream I wanted (uhh pb cup??) and when I got it, I didn't really taste any separate peanut butter or chocolate or pb cups other than the ice cream with maybe some chocolate sauce and whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. PB cup sundae says like at least a few smushed Reese's in there. Oh well. The kiddie pb cup was actually quite large for the price and the banana split looked good. One downside is that they don't call ice cream numbers. I moved Gma to a table so she could sit while we waited and waited and waited. Finally the girl called out our whole order because she "didn't know where we went." but she did rescoop the kiddie pb cup because it had melted more than the sundaes. I'm not really sure why the number on your receipt doesn't work outside (unless you order food) but whatever... It was still yummy and the girl was sweet to rescoop for my Gma.

The summer house is one of my go to places! Food is great every time I go! Prices are reasonable!

Moolious is much better ice-cream. Summer house is dirty inside. Every booth is sticky. People are not friendly and food are not good. High school kids are cooking but price is not reflecting the quality

Just want everyone to know, when I visited the Summer house on July 28, 2020, and asked if the cooks were wearing masks, I was told, No they do not. I've seen this problem with them before not wearing gloves, not feeling confident that they take precautions to keep their customers safe.

Went in to order a take out of three Buffalo wraps and french fries 24 minutes later after asking twice if our order was ready. It was cold as it was the bag that had been sitting on the counter for 15 min while we waited. #DoYourJob #PoorService #TheSummerHouse your food will be ready NEXT Summer

I'll stop by in the next month or so, so I can leave an updated review, it has been a little bit since I've been back. I'll grab a few different items and bring a few heads so we can get a good feel for the food quality. I'm always looking for good eats.

The Summer House is a nice stop with a large selection of fast foods. Hot dog and hamburgers are the core, but soups fried foods and sandwiches fill out the menu nicely. The food is average quality and comes fairly fast despite the heavy business they often have. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. Nice outdoor seating area or take the whole thing to go. Every so often we stop in here on our way through town, but usually are left with that fast-food regret after doing so.

Awesome food and very quick service. Only thing I don't like is the buffalo chicken wrap. The burgers are awesome though.
