Booked direct & breakfast inclusive. Cheaper than other booking sites. Perfect location. Very busy bar. Room was perfect & no noise from bar. Breakfast very good, really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict which comes with 2 additions of your choice. Coffee & Juice refills plentiful. Staff very friendly & helpful. Would definitely return.

Absolutely lovely pub and hotel. We stayed for one night. A lovely spacious room on the top floor with velux windows and original beams. Spacious bathroom with walk in shower cubicle. The bed was extremely comfortable. Large fluffy white towels and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits were supplied. |Every member of staff was friendly, polite and helpful and a credit to the business. Highly recommend.

Booked to stay over for a night. Checked in and stayed for lunch. Fish finger sandwich X2 and triple cooked chips. Staff are brilliant - friendly, fast and efficient, very friendly and accommodating. Our room was spotless, recently redecorated and absolutely beautiful! Bed was really comfortable and no noise from the bar/restaurant downstairs. We will definitly be returning. Couldn’t find any fault at all. Thankyou! Aaron & Katy

A hotel, pub and restaurant all rolled into one. Part of the building dates back to 1760.! The food is good and the rooms are fine. There is a great choice of ales and lagers. Plus mulled wine for the festive season.

I booked two rooms and would happily stay again. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and well-fitted. Easy access at night and spacious open-air parking by the back entrance (managed separately) made things even more convenient. The staff were friendly throughout the stay. No negatives at all!

We spent 4 days in this lovely boutique hotel. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The room was clean with everything we needed including a large very comfortable bed. We had breakfast cooked fresh daily with a variety of choices. We also had several delicious food quality meals at reasonable prices. Portions were large! The location was perfect for getting to the castle, bus, and train station. Everything was perfect! We highly recommend the Sun for your next visit.

A proper pub with a proper Steak and Ale Pie, home cooked, don't mistake this for a pot pie it's a proper pie! We ordered at the bar, there was also an option to press a button on the table for the waiter, but l expect that was annoying for them a very busy pub. The long slow cooked lamb was to die for. The licorice panacotta with rhubarb was super tasty, l wondered why it was added to a glass rather than let it free stand wobble on its own and l soon discovered why too much gelatin, it was very stiff, the rhubarb was a strange combination as a topping and did not add much, it was was sweet and made it feel more healthy. Dog friendly. The parking was a nightmare thanks to new local council restrictions and there was a NCP car park next door but never had to Phone App and it refused to accept my payment, so l moved my car to another car park and walked can't risk getting a parking ticket. The one way system is a nightmare and I passed the pub 3 times in the rain to eventually finding a place to park near the bus station, next time l will use the bus!

Yelp
A delightful Hotel and bar with fine food and great ambiance. Friendly staff. Can get busy but nice atmosphere and comfy seating and sofas. Rooms flow from one to the other and a nice local place to unwind after work or shopping.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and real ales. Should my review finish there? Maybe - but there's more you need to know about the Sun Inn, way more! First of all it's one of the favourite hangouts of very tasteful people... those being some of my best friends in Lancaster. Secondly, it's bloody gorgeous. You want a cosy, rustic, boutiquey pub in what I've come to call 'The Edinburgh of the North West'? Walk right this way. Want to see how pretty it is? You only have to check this cinemagram from my fiancé: http://cinemagr.am/show/4336818 Look at that. What a backdrop it provides. Gnarled branches with fairylights = one of my favourite things ever. Big wooden tables, locally roasted coffee (a coffee my maid of honour recommends wholeheartedly, and it has its own shop around the corner. I do believe it's called Atkinsons. http://www.thecoffeehopper.com After our epic roasts we needed a pick-me-up, and I opted for black while she had a fab-looking latte. We also got biscuits as standard. (That should be a rule, everywhere. No exceptions. If Font Bar can give out entire Freddos with every brew, all establishments should at least be able to manage a Lotus biscuit.) The food looks amazeballs here, perhaps a little pricey for a casual lunch but great for a treat, and potentially truly delicious. The atmopshere's lovely, the staff friendly, and we've had wine here too which has always been tasty, offered in some of the prettiest wine glasses I ever did see. And fruit beer on tap? I can see why this could easily become a Lancastrian's local.

Yelp
I iiked it in there, it was very packed for a Saturday night, which is always good. The service at the bar was a bit slow and there wasn't enough range of lagers to my liking. The interior & decor was nice and I was impressed with the furniture. I would certainly pay a visit to the pub if I was in the city centre again.

Yelp
Great place, my favourite place in Lancaster to sit and have a drink - you'd never be worried about getting in a fight in here. Pints aren't particularly cheap, not much for less than £3.50, but then again, it keeps the bingers away, not that I claim I'm not one. Also, it gets very busy on a Friday night - prepare to stand unless you get in nice and early. I haven't much experience with the food, however, the one sandwich I had here was very good, generous amounts of everything, not expensive either.

Yelp
In a town with plenty of choice for excellent real ale this place stands out as a star. Owned by the local brewery it usually has 4 of their ales on plus a few guests. Hasn't been a big foody place but they seem to be making more effort on that area. Always busy at the weekends and lovely exposed walls and features including a well in the little room near the back! The customer base seems to be the more well heeled of the city so the atmosphere is good. Recomended as not one to miss if you are visiting lancaster.

Yelp
Comfortable stay. Amazing how well kept the place is as it was built in 1680. Jen was fantastic. She was the receptionist, the server, the concierge, etc. All with a big smile. Would definitely come back again if I am around the area. Good sleep, good food, great beers. What else can you ask for in a hotel. I am sure there were other staff there, but somehow they don't make an impression.

Yelp
My wife and I made reservations here based on a friends recommendation.. We were very pleased. It was a small quaint hotel. Room was well decorated and very comfortable. The check-jn desk was around behind the bar in a small nook. He was very pleasant and as we had arrived very early, he took our luggage and even brought it to our room once it was ready, awaiting our return. The room includes breakfast, and WOW! That was totally amazing. There was too much food. There is a cold buffet, cereals, fresh fruit cocktail, breads, yogurts teas and coffees, and juice. Then you get to choose from 5 items out of about 15 on their hot selection menu.... Lots of meats, eggs, potatoes, grilled tomatoes... It was all delicious. My only complaint was that there were 3 radiators in the room for heat, (turned off as it was not even cool). There was no AC, which I understand, but there was no way to get fresh air. The one window that was even possible to be open in our room was screwed shut. The first afternoon the room got a little stuffy, but the rest of our two day stay it was fine. There was even a towel radiator in the bathroom, which we tried to turn off as we really wanted no additional heat sources for the room, but that caused a leak. We ended up just keeping the bathroom door shut, when created a warm/toasty bathroom.
