The Sunset Beach Resort & Spa Taling Ngam

Beautiful sunset views in a quaint family owned resort. Our first impression was very good, they called us after our flight landed to ensure we found the shuttle and asked if we wanted anything from the kitchen as it was closing we would arrive. The breakfast had made-to-order eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, espresso coffee/cappuccino, and a variety of bread & croissants. There’s a few restaurants within walking distance. There’s good snorkeling off the beach & there’s a break in the coral right in front of the resort to allow for deeper swimming. The price is excellent for what you are getting. The location is on the quiet side of the island about 1 hour drive from the airport, however most boat tours to neighboring islands will pick up at this resort. Definitely go on the Red Baron to view the national park and take a Koh Tao tour for snorkeling. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The laundry service was nice and inexpensive. We loved that they packed a breakfast for us when we had an early flight for our departure. Upon arriving there was a note on our bed that said the resort was doing a “soft opening”, which meant the spa was closed and the restaurant had limited menu. The toilet in the room has a glass door that limited privacy. No bidet. The rooms are not sound proof. We could hear some noise from the neighbors and street, but it was still very quiet.

What a fantastic place! Everything about it was brilliant, breakfast was massive, drinks were nice- I recommend the yam yam cocktail mmm mmm. I ate there a few times and the food was lovely. The staff are all amazing, so friendly and helpful with everything- they really are and asset to the hotel. They have a fitness suite but I didn't use it but I did use the steam room, sauna and cold room. Everywhere is spotless, it's right on the beach and even the gardens are immaculate. After many years, I was able to return to the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa. I was pleasantly surprised that almost everything was the same as it was back then. The resort had already impressed me years ago, and this stay was fantastic again. The resort is in a excellent condition! I booked a beachfront pool villa, which was really |beautiful and spacious. The small private pool was great and I also liked the outdoor rain shower. The entire staff was very warm, friendly and extremely attentive! I would like to thank everyone very much. The service was outstanding and the food very delicious. The only thing was that the beach (but not in front of the resort, though) wasn't the cleanest, and also the water wasn't that clear. Since the resort is in a very quiet location, I was able to relax thoroughly. Trust me, I will be back. All the best to all of you and kind regards, Rolf

Arriving at The Sunset Beach Resort felt like stepping into a moment where time stands still. This laid-back retreat offers direct access to one of the most stunning beaches, with unforgettable sunsets and a deep sense of tranquility. No noise, no traffic—just the calming voice of nature all around. The team, especially K. Joy, K. Jason, and K. Id, went out of their way to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their genuine hospitality made the experience even more memorable. It’s important to note that the resort has its own rhythm—slow and peaceful. The key is to embrace it and let yourself unwind. The drive from Lipa Noi Ferry Terminal to the resort perfectly sets the tone, showcasing the serene charm and gentle pace of the area. We will definitely be back.

Outstanding hotel if you want a quiet getaway with beautiful beaches and sea. Staff are amazing and can't do enough for you. Highly recommend staying here.

Lovely views in a very spacious room. Very comfy seats on the balcony to watch the sunset. As well as direct access to the beach. Gym/fitness centre on site too. But two or three sports machines no longer work, out of service. The hotel doesn't operate at 100%, as is stated at reception. The restaurant Ananas For dinner, the last order can be placed at 19:30 The food is very tasty, the portions small and manageable. But we got our fill. Prices are a bit higher than elsewhere. The well-presented breakfast is repetitive, and the bread isn't very good because it's industrial. Unfortunately, the baguette is inedible. The coffee is very tasty. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. The floor could be cleaner and, above all, washable. Parasols are missing for all the deck-chairs at the pool and on the beach. Many are defective

Caution, don't go near! The worst hotel in Thailand. The photos, comments and rating are fake. Old, neglected and falling apart room, pool with dirty water and yellow-green, worst location on the island, far and isolated from everything. I saw the condition of the hotel and immediately asked to leave and cancel. They did not approve the cancellation, but I left anyway because you can't stay in such a shabby and neglected place.
