"Surfin Burrito Expat owned and run, this spot brings California-style burritos to Mexico . The tiny outdoor restaurant—featuring only three long tables—routinely fills with an eclectic mix of locals, foreign residents, and tourists in search of a casual spot for laid-back socializing. The hole-in-the-wall chic surfer vibe pairs well with made-to-order burritos and tacos with several kinds of seafood and tortillas; you’ll also find umbrella drinks, traditional Mexican micheladas (beers served with ingredients like lime juice, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce), burgers, and ceviches. Best of all, it’s open round the clock, making it an easy option for wee-hour snacking when Party Center clubs let out."

If you come on vacation to Cancun, you absolutely have to try this place! The location is really nice, the staff is very welcoming and kind, I had a great time here. I got the burrito and the tacos completely customizable! They were very good, you could feel the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. ok, guys the cocktails are really amazing😂 800ml of pure happiness. I recommend coming here after the beach day, the perfect moment

Nice little stand. I love the vibe here and the service was great. I ordered breakfast burrito, coconut shrimps, and fish tacos and ended up loving fish taco the most. The burrito was a bit too soggy for my liking; i can’t say anything about the authenticity of foods here though. The strawberry basil mojito was also better than many other bars in Cancun area. I would recommend thus place for people visiting Cancun

Google
5 Stars – A Must-Visit Spot in Cancun! The Surfin Burrito is hands-down one of the best hidden gems in Cancun! The vibe is super chill, the food is always fresh, and the portions are generous—perfect after a long beach day. What really made the experience unforgettable was the amazing service from Brenda. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations from the menu. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure guests have a great time. Thanks to her, we felt right at home. Whether you’re craving a killer burrito or just want to enjoy a drink in a fun, laid-back spot, this place is it. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
The best hidden gem in Cancun and walkable from the main hub. Immediately came back to try other items in their menu. I highly recommend their jamaican oxtail & basically every type of burrito. The green go smoothie is delicious! Thank you Brenda & Emy for making everything perfect! We will definitely come back for more!

Google
I had the pleasure of visiting Surfing Burrito in Cancun, and I’m so glad I did! The avocado toast was absolutely fantastic—perfectly ripe avocado, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of seasoning. It’s a simple dish, but they absolutely nailed it, making it one of the best I’ve had in a while. What really made our experience stand out was the exceptional service from our server, Sole. She was not only attentive but also super friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed and making us feel right at home. Her welcoming attitude added a personal touch to the experience, and we left with a smile. If you're in Cancun and looking for a great spot to enjoy delicious food with excellent service, Surfing Burrito is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
I came across this place by chance, but the vibe and food were so amazing that I can’t wait to come back. The cozy lighting, music, and interior created such a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Mike the server was also nice! thanks, see ya!

Google
Original place with a lot of interesting options. Also has the choice of making your own Burrito/Tacos, which was great! They added seats on the roof, so more seating options are available now, too. Or you can just stand/take-away (completely worth it!). And as if that wasn't enough, Brenda gave us a truly wonderful customer experience! ⭐️

Google
The Ox tail quesebirra tacos were my favorite item. The guac and pico de gallos needed seasoning and flavor very bland but the beverages like the michi or the wild berry smoothie were delicious. As well as the coco passion fruit ceviche

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks! Do not skip this place! Best fajita nachos and guac we've ever had. The mojito was large, fresh and tasty!!

Yelp
Probably the best spot I tried in Cancun, I cam here multiple times. The first time I had grilled chicken wings, cajun style. And it was the best jerk I've ever had. The meat was so juicy and soft with a big portion of rice, beans and plantains. Another time I had the coconut shrimp with fries and it was amazing. I truly felt full afterwards, each piece was big and well marinated with great side sauces. The environment is great as the place is not too far from the beach, and with a good music in the background. Note the prices are little bit expensive compared to what would expect in cancun. But overall its worth it

Yelp
We decided to walk from our hotel to this establishment to get lunch . It's a small hole in the wall with about 12-15 seats . Here's everything we got : 1) coconut shrimp appetiser - very good , fresh shrimps, accompanied w french fries which were also great . 4.3/5 2) we had 3 burritos - you build it yourself w whatever ingredients you'd like to put in . We went w the cilantro tortillas and the chipotle . The cilantro had the shrimp and mahi filling and the chipotle had chicken . They were all very good - lots of filling . 4/5 3)we also had their fruit smoothies - they come at a 1 litter jug so beware :). They were excellent! We went for the tropical island (more sour and refreshing ) and the go green (more sweet with strong banana flavours ). All together - very recommended !

Yelp
Really delicious and filling meal. The smoothie was fresh and big enough to share for two people. The breakfast burrito was huge and had a good balance of ingredients. Shrimp tacos were really good although I wasn't expecting so much beans. Service was quick and seating is good when not too busy. Staff answered any questions we had about the menu items. Chill spot for a morning meal and getting energy for the rest of your day.

Yelp
My first time in Mexico. And somehow I end up staying across the street from this place?!? What luck! I got the shrimp and Mahi burrito and my wife had the shrimp and Mahi tacos. I didn't try hers because hers was kinda like mine. We both got spinach soft shells too. She also got a watermelon vodka drink that was huge. It's a really cool set up and fine outdoor eating. The only real downside is all the people who are not a part of the restaurant trying to sell you cocaine.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little hole in the wall, literally! Great food, plenty of choices for millennials as well as the rest of us! Just three shared tables on the street next to OXXO and Circle K. Great eats and drinks! Great looking blended drinks and cold beers!

Yelp
Food was fantastic, husband actually wants to hit it again before we leave town!! He had the red burrito (chipotle) steak and chicken with habanero sauce! I had the Quesobarrio that was awesome as well! The drinks were also good Barbie Mezacali and the jagerbomb. Service was quick and helpful.. and the ambiance was fun!

Yelp
First time in cancun and this place by far gave us the "mexican" food taste we were looking for. After a few hiccups at tourist dumps in the hotel zone. Finally picked the right spot! Food was so good we went two days in a row I wish I was rich I would fly down to it weekly. Great service great staff amazing food. I would never disrespect this place and call it a hole in the wall. This tiny spot is HUGE in everything they offer. Everything made cook to order and from scratch!

Yelp
I came here here for breakfast with my friend while we were staying in Cancun, and the surfing burrito definitely hit the spot. We both ordered custom breakfast burritos, which were absolutely packed and so delicious. Interestingly, when we were there, they were out of both of the original, and the whole wheat wraps, so we had to go with the flavored ones. We also shared one of the smoothies, which was absolutely delicious. It comes in a 1L jar, which is quite large, so the two of us were able to share it. The spot is quite cute, they definitely small, and has basically three bar style tables with stools. We didn't have any issues finding seats, though I could see this place getting quite busy. The music was also excellent and a total vibe. I have to take off one star because their credit card machine was not working at the time so we had to pay in cash.

Yelp
Saw this spot on Triple D and when we planned a trip to Cancun, I put it on my list. If you're in the hotel zone, it's right in there and easy to get to by city bus or walking (if you're close). As others said, it's got three small tables outside and it's next to a circle k (think mini mart/ gas station store). Service was friendly and the menu is in pesos. They do take credit cards. Be prepared for a bit of a wait on food. Margarita was huge and refreshing on a hot, humid day. It's worth a trip,
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing remarkable in the slightest. A very long wait for mediocre tacos and terrible sangria, but after several other tries at dinner spots, this seems to be the status quo in Cancun.

Yelp
super, super small shack, barely any place to sit. bf and i got lucky. came around 5pm new years eve you order and pay first. service is kind of slow. food is delicious though, just unpretentious, casual tacos/burritos. if you wanna use the bathroom, you'd have to walk through the kitchen where you'll witness behind the scenes. it's clear that the kitchen doesn't prep ahead of time and makes food fresh. bf and i ordered a lime margarita but ended up getting served a passionfruit margarita. we also ordered a fried "catch of the day." turns out the catch of the day was nothing because when we got our tacos, there wasn't any meat. but it took my boyfriend and i a while to realize that because the tacos was covered in sauces and veggies (still tasty tho). we told the waiter who then brought over tacos with the actual catch of the day (fish). but funny enough, still don't know exactly what fish we ate since we weren't told what it was and couldn't be bothered to ask again.

Yelp
This place gets so busy! A small hole in the wall. Very affordable. They have some 2-1 margarita specials that we didn't get to try. Ordered a veg fajita nachos that were delicious. A veg fajita burrito and a veg fajita taco. All to go. Took a really long time because they had a million orders come in. You can customize your taco or burrito with the type of tortilla , the veggies, cheese, protein etc. Very cheap and tasted great! Try it out!

Yelp
How long does it take to make a taco?! We were literally the ONLY CUSTOMERS there, and we waited ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES before I lost it and left. This place SUCKS! Don't waste your time or money!

Yelp
TLDR : Great food, nice service and refreshing drinks Surfin Burrito was a the only joint we ended up repeating during our 4 day stay in cancun. This place is small and has community style 3 long tables to be shared. With a local Mexican joint feeling Surfin Burrito did not disappoint. Their burritos were great, the shrimp ceviche was amazing and the nachos were ok.

Steve S.

Yelp
Simple place with amazing burritos and vibes to match! Every time I'm in Cancun, I'm at surfin burrito!

Yelp
Came here 2 years ago and really enjoyed this place, couldn't wait to come back ! Fastforward, came to cancun for 7 days and had terrible service . Employees ignored customers and ate while we waited for them to pay attention to us. They were very rude to everyone and practically threw my to go order at me. They seemed irritated by all incoming clients. Took an hour to get our food and it was mediocre Very Disappointed. Returned 2nd time during the late shift, hoping to get different employees with better attitudes and were greeted by Flor who was sweet and explained there would be a wait which was greatly appreciated. The manager on duty was again very rude and seems to hate customers , maybe he's annoyed by tourists which is 99% of their clients .

Yelp
The vibe of this place is perfect, good music, very friendly people and great food. We practically ate all our meals here at Surfin Burrito. My husband loved their veggie burrito with different sauces and I enjoyed camarones tacos. They also great cocktails to pair your food with. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Food and smoothies were delicious that we ate here twin during our vacation! I got the grande breakfast and my husband got the breakfast burrito both times. The green go and the turmeric smoothies were amazingly delicious!!
google avatar

Amita J.

Yelp
WOW. These were the best burritos my husband and I have ever had. Our reviews are solely on the vegetarian burritos. They fill the burritos nice and heavy with plenty of vegetables, rice, beans and cheese. There is no skimping out on any ingredient. The prices of the burritos are very reasonable. As well as the smoothie we ordered, tasted fresh and was served 1 liters worth!! We visited here twice during our trip and saddened that we only discovered this place on the second to last day of our trip!
google avatar

Yelp
A place with super chill vibes and good food. They have just 3-4 long tables each of which can accommodate 6-7 people. You end up sitting very close to strangers - almost like sitting at a congested bar table but that's a part of this place and the experience if you will. The staff is friendly and food has a little wait time. We went here twice in our week long trip to Cancun - something about the place made me feel super carefree every time I sat here. On our first visit we ordered two Burritos. They give you a paper and pen to customize your burrito. You can choose the wrap, meat, veggies and salsa from a list of options. We ordered one chicken and one catch of the day with other options you can see from attached picture. What I found special about their Burrito is the tortilla wrap itself was super soft and not elastic in texture - like many other Burrito wraps. The filling inside on both burritos was moist but not soggy and very flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed eating them both. The red eye michelada was super yummy ( it was my first time having it ) and I loved it. On our second visit we ordered a chicken Burrito with different combinations of salsa and veggies. Tasted same mostly to us as previous time. Also ordered a jerk chicken burger with beans in rice and plantain on the side. The rice itself I was not a fan of and couldn't finish. The plantains were ripe ones hence were sweet and sautéed lightly. The burger was of jerk chicken on a turmeric bun - this was definitely interesting. The bun was soft and fluffy with a texture that reminded me of the insides of a particular type of pakora we eat in India that's made out of gram flour. If you are in the area and looking for a place that's open late and one that hopefully wouldn't disappoint I'd recommend giving Surfing Burrito a visit :)

Yelp
This place was awesome! The food was amazing, the drinks were fresh and delicious, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We stayed at Ocean Dreams and it was literally outside the gate. Great location away from the 'hype' of the hotel district but still close enough to hear all the noise lol. Literally the only place we visited more than one, two, three times during our stay. I also loved the ambiance!
google avatar

Gema B.

Yelp
Small location but perfect! Yummy unique burritos So good I forget To get a photo lol But I order a chipotle tortilla with chicken rice and cheese. The hot sauce was great. Over all 5 stars

Yelp
Me and my friend stopped here while walking about to our resort. It was small with a few tables and seats on the outside but the music was popping and all the customers seemed to enjoying themselves. The server quickly came over to greet us as soon as we sat down. We ordered some burritos to go from the late night menu and they were quickly made. My friend and I were very surprised with how big they were! We definitely could have split one. My burrito was filled with chicken, rice, beans and varies other toppings such as jalapeños and sour cream. Everything tasted fresh, very well seasoned, beyond delicious. I'm so glad we decided to eat here and would definitely be back again when visiting Cancun.

Yelp
Fun hole-in-the-wall spot that is great for Americans who miss Americanized Mexican food. This place is tiny, there are only like three communal tables out front to sit at, which can accommodate maybe six people per table. Be prepared to sit with strangers. But that is part of the charm. The staff here is extremely friendly. Mexican food is delicious, but not everyone is used to authentic Mexican food. For those of us who are more accustomed to Taco Bell or California burritos, authentic Mexican food can seem like a letdown, in terms of portion sizes or even flavors. To be clear, I'm not saying Mexican food is not as good as Americanized Mexican food. I'm simply pointing out that in the States, you may be used to cheese that somehow always stays liquid, but real cheese becomes solid again after it cools. So if your idea of Mexican food is Taco Bell, Tex Mex, or burritos with french fries in them, you're not always going to be satisfied at the traditional Mexican taqueria. This niche is where The Surfin Burrito shines. They have large portions and serve up Mexican food of the sort that you'd find in San Diego or any other California beach town. Nothing exotic like beef tongue, but your standard carne asada or shrimp tacos and burritos. It's a great spot for the American who misses home or the finicky eater who enjoys Mexican food in the States but finds that while in Mexico their expectations are somehow not met.

Yelp
Hands down the best meal I have had on this trip. Make sure to go during the day. The food takes a while but worth the wait. They don't have many seats so tough to get a table. I wish I would have gonna every day.

Yelp
Not open 24/7 Tried a steak burrito, mango fish tacos, the gnarley smoothie, beach bum smoothie and a fresh coconut here. The steak burrito was customizeable on a sheet of paper. It was a solid 4/5 burrito, the steak was really good but I wish there was more meat inside. The mango fish tacos are battered in tempura, It was definitely fresh but I didn't enjoy the mango part because it's a mango puree sauce and was overly sweet. I was expecting a pico de gallo with mango. I didn't enjoy it on the bed of cabbage in the tacos so I just ate the fish on its own. The gnarley smoothie and beach bum smoothie here are really good, very fresh and you can taste that they blended in actual berries. The fresh coconut was probably my favorite. The coconut water was slightly sweet, and we asked them to chop open the coconut after the water was finished so we could eat the meat which they did with no issues. Definitely need to try this spot at least once in Cancun, Guy Fieri was here!
google avatar

Homer J.

Yelp
Still the number one place in Cancun to get your burrito on. Great homemade drinks. I had a piña colada that was handmade ( first for me, ) and it was about a quart of frozen liquid inside a carved out pineapple done on the spot. The fajita nachos were to die for. The owner is turning the upstairs space into a surf instructional school, which is very interesting. We'll be back again and again.
google avatar

B A.

Yelp
It's 3 communal tables. Outside next to a Circle K convenience store. They have English menu. Super delicious. We sat and the clerk gave us the burrito checklist to customize. Margs are delicious and in big mason jar. Very very happy with coming here.

Aaron C.

Yelp
Fun, lively, very causal walk up must go place. DESLISH fish tacos & chipotle burrito. Mango margarita on the rocks is very tasty. Quick & friendly service.

Yelp
Eating at sb in a pouring rain storm at 5:00 pm. Food is great, friendly staff and the vibe is perfect. I bet that this place is very interesting at 2:00 AM. Go when you can, you will not be disappointed.

Antonio W.

Yelp
Dope vibes here, the food is amazing, staff were really nice! The space is outdoors but covered, not very much seating tho, and The drinks are very large, but the not very strong tho but other than that. This is a must try! Highly recommended!
google avatar

Jesse P.

Yelp
Food takes forever the come, servers are not friendly and food is at mediocre level to wait for an hour for 3 tacos. Wouldn't recommend at all if you don't wanna waste your time her
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
We came here twice during our week long trip to Cancun because it was conveniently within walking distance to our hotel. Each time we came, the tables they had outside were filled and wait times (two entrees, one app) was about 25 minutes. What's nice about this place is that it's open 24 hours so you can stop by any time for food. 1. Beach bum smoothie 4.5/5 Absolutely massive smoothie (1 liter) that could legit be split between three people. This smoothie was nice and mild with coconut water. Would recommend 2. Coconut shrimp 4/5 They give you quite a few shrimp in this order but after eating just a few, felt like the batter around the shrimp was way too thick 3. Quesadilla with flank steak 5/5 Excellent! A good amount of steak in here with yummy flavor 4. Guac with chips 3.5/5 This guac tasted too watery for me 5. Shrimp burrito 4.5/5 Excellent shrimp burrito that they allow you to customize. Only thing off about this item was that the rice/bean ratio was too much 5. Shrimp tacos 5/5 Enjoyed the tacos much more than the burrito
google avatar

Israel S.

Yelp
The two ladies that work at the desk are pretty rude and the coconut shrimp was ok. Came here only for that reason and they tasted ok, almost over breaded. The place is really tiny it's only like 3 bar tops.
google avatar

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious. We ended up going there twice during our trip. The smoothies were good. The breakfast sandwiches were amazing avocado toast, delicious.
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
I really love the food here however that seems to be difficult to get. It's not like we went on a Friday or Saturday night but how can you be out of chicken or steak at 5:30 PM on a Tuesday. Today is Tuesday, November 2nd, and we had to leave because all they had were shrimp. Since I am allergic to seafood that wasn't going to work. This was our third time to Surfin Burrito in three weeks and only successful on one attempt. The first attempt, we were seated and then told our food would not be available for at least an hour. We left. The second attempt we were seated, got our drinks and onion rings as as we started to eat the onion rings we were told an hour before our food would be ready. I told the waitress if that was true, we were leaving. She came back and said the food would be ready within 15 minutes. The food arrived within 10 minutes. This third time, no meat! I am staying at the Westin Lagunamar and can no longer recommend Surfin Burrito.

B C.

Yelp
Iconic hangout on the hotel strip in Cancun. The pico is amazing as are the burritos. Always great people watching too!

Jasmine M.

Yelp
I want to give this place a zero. Waited over an hour for 2 burritos. No where to sit, drinks full of sweet and sour mix no alcohol. They are soooooo slow to be this popular. It's honestly not worth it coming here. Please please don't waste your time. I promise you it wouldn't take me 20 minutes to make 50 burritos and they would all be cooked to order.

Su Z.

Yelp
Got food poisoned by their fish tacos. I ate them about an hour before boarding the plane and threw up all over myself on the plane. Only other thing I ate that day was their guacamole, a banana, and water. Cost almost $22 US for fish tacos and a cup of guacamole (which was a pretty big portion). I contacted them about it, but they did the Mexican thing of acting like they will talk to the manager, and then no one gets back to you.
google avatar

T C.

Yelp
So we used to love this place and have been there many times over the years. Last year we had an issue with our bill. The server just told us an amount and he said it did not include the tip. We added up what we ordered and realized it was $6 dollars over what the total should have been. We contacted the owner and he apologized and said the workers are not supposed to do that. So here we are a year later and we gave them another shot. Guess what this time the workers charged us over 8 dollars on top of the bill. We were not given a check again. I again asked the server if the tip was included and he said no. Ask for a bill and check your total if you leave a tip on top of the total you are probably tipping twice. We have been ripped off twice. Mind you our bill was not that much and this is not a full service place so an over 8 dollar tip is ridiculous. We always tip well and especially in Mexico. We will never go back.

Yelp
Bomb burrito!! Also, ask for their habanero sauce ‍ The place itself is super laid back with chill vibes
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Soo good! The food is delish, the staff is friendly and the prices are awesome. We ate 2x while in Cancun and it was totally worth every dime. The juices were super fresh and large enough for 2 people to share. The avocado toast was like nothing I had seen before and the taste was amazing! I would totally recommend trying them out if in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little spot on the "strip" in The Hotel Zone. Only a couple small tables out front. It's a walkup counter spot. No indoor seating. Best at sunset or after dark. Basically tacos, burritos & nachos. Great mixed drinks. Highly recommend
google avatar

Edward D.

Yelp
We came back to eat here because we loved it so much last March, but found it a bit lacking in flavor this time. They're still open 24 hours and you can eat in, take out or get delivery. They have a good menu with decent options, including breakfast burritos. They still have make-your-own burritos, where you can choose the type of wrap (flour, spinach and others), the sauce and your choice of fillings. I had a chipotle wrap burrito and we also had their coconut shrimp. The food was not as tasty this time--actually it was rather bland and tasteless, but maybe I just got there when they were really busy. The vibe is still cool, the portions are still large and the prices are still inexpensive. Even though we didn't enjoy the food this year as much as last year, I'd give them another try next time we visit.

Yelp
This place is so close to getting 5 stars - but they are completely disorganized. The food is great, the burritos in particular, among the best I've ever had. And I love the rummy coconut drink (coco loco). Countertop outdoor seating right by a nice public beach. But They totally messed up our orders. My jerk chicken order never made it to the kitchen and came out just as I started to gnaw on the table. My girlfriend got someone else's burrito and someone else got hers (I saw him eating it). I'm not sure how you can give someone the wrong order when the burritos are ordered on a piece of paper with your choices and your name is on top of the order slip???????

Yelp
Best burrito ever and I am from California! MUST TRY!!! Great vibe!! Loved the place And I higlyyyy recommend it,

Kari B.

Yelp
This place has a pretty extensive drink menu which was nice. We ordered 2 passion fruit margaritas which tasted very good, however they were very weak. We also ordered the build your own tacos, honestly they were just okay. We elected for the fresh catch of the day so maybe that's just not their thing. It was super expensive for what it was. I'd skip this place and head across the street to the taqueria if I were you.

Ari T.

Yelp
Kind of a letdown given all the good reviews. We came at 2pm on a Monday and it was not busy even though there was absolutely no parking. Had to do three trips around the place just to find a spot. Walked right up to order takeout. Service was ok, I wasn't expecting great hospitality but they could have payed more attention to their guests rather than their phones. Took 20 mins to get burritos. Food was ok. We ordered both the steak and chicken. The reviews made it seem to be a decent burrito but honestly on the same level as fast food at best. Hopefully it was off day, best to try some place else though.
