We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Sydney. This was our third time visiting (twice at Sydney, once at Coco, all perfect!), and we always have an incredible stay because of the staff, specifically. The breakfast offered is amazing - they absolutely go above and beyond!! The kind staff is truly incredible; each and every year, they go out of their way to attend to their guests. This year, the staff delivered cookies to our four year old son with a handwritten note; it made his whole weekend! We can't thank you enough, and we are already looking forward to next year!

The hospitality of Stefan was 5 stars! Our room was spacious and the bed, so comfortable. We never went out as planned for breakfast because the coffee was delicious and the food was wonderful and plentiful. And the location was close to the bus terminal, downtown, and beach. I highly recommend The Sydney!

Arghhhhh! One of the things we loved so much about the Sidney was their breakfasts. It changed every day and had multiple protein options as well as a great assortment of scones, fruits, puddings, pastries and yogurts, etc. It was literally the reason we chose to come here again instead of trying a new place. We’ll be trying a new place next year, but it is in a great location, the staff is always super accommodating and friendly, and the rooms are clean and well appointed.

The Sydney in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard is a charming boutique hotel that exceeded all expectations. The staff was exceptional, going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Every question was answered promptly, and every request was fulfilled with a genuine smile.||One of the highlights of the Sydney is its intimate atmosphere. The community areas are cozy and inviting, making it easy to connect with other guests. Conversations flowed naturally, creating a sense of camaraderie that is often hard to find in larger hotels.||Breakfast at the Sydney was a daily delight. Nutritious, delicious, and creatively presented, it was a perfect way to start the day. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing the hotel’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.||Edgartown itself is an idyllic setting, especially during the Fourth of July weekend. The town’s charm, combined with the Sydney’s impeccable service and welcoming environment, made for an unforgettable stay. For anyone seeking a blend of luxury, comfort, and a personal touch, the Sydney in Edgartown is the ideal choice. Highly recommended!

Staying here was a dream come true. Everything about it was so beautiful and spa-like. The sunny courtyard, morning coffee/pastry bar, and very helpful and friendly staff made us feel very pampered. It is perfectly located amid all the shopping and restaurants...so walkable. Next summer, we will definitely choose The Sydney again.⭐

Highly recommend! Beautifully decorated, staff were all super friendly and helpful. We were greeted by Sara who had us checked in and on our way to our rooms within minutes , immediately followed by the friendliest most accommodating Alex who carried our bags to our rooms. Our rooms were King Deluxe and were beautifully decorated and spacious with the most comfortable beds. Everything was provided, robes, hair dryer, mini fridge, soaps, shampoo, moisturizer (amazing products, I wish I remembered the brand!!). The lobby sitting area and the patio were both so pretty, we spent plenty of time enjoying both. Breakfast was both delicious and displayed so cute each morning. Made it to the lobby each afternoon to enjoy warm chocolate chip cookies. |Plenty of beach chairs and beach towels available and Alex was extra helpful getting us set up for the beach. |Location couldn’t have been more perfect. |Can’t wait to stay again!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for his birthday weekend. Our stay here was PHENOMENAL, the attention to detail was 100%. Upon check in they had a chocolate cake waiting for him in our room with a cute happy birthday note. Everyone working was extremely helpful and had many recommendations for things to see/do/eat around the island. Our room was gorgeous. The breakfast spread was amazing, every single day! I loved the sparkling/ still water on tap= GOALS. Can't wait to come back someday! Will be looking into Lark hotels for future stays.

Yelp
This hotel has a great location for Edgartown. What makes the Hotel even better is the staff and their impeccable service and response time to any needs. The young Lady working the front desk at check-in greets you with a smile and kindness! The hotel has amenities in the lobby similar to club level amenities at certain hotels ie club water, food, and cookies. It was wonderful meeting Alexander who anticipated and attend to any needs or questions that you have. Thank you again to the staff that makes this hotel!!

Yelp
I stayed at The Sydney during the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival in August 2018. I stayed the weekend between August 10-12, 2018. The hotel is located in Edgartown conveniently close to many shops and restaurants. The room was very spacious and had new showers and appliances. I was greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie and a welcome note. The television was equipped with NetFlix. I was able to watch all of my shows. The privacy blinds were a nice touch to keep out the sunlight. There was ample parking if you drive. There's also nice seating areas for conversations with other guests or to just enjoy the ambiance. Breakfast was so wonderful! I'll post a picture of the spread. The food was fresh. My favorite was the variety of teas and the overnight oats with fruit. There was fresh fruit, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt and homemade blueberry and chocolate chip scones. The coffee was so fresh and there was a selection of milk and creamers. Transportation: Departing from the airport there were taxis right outside that drove us to Edgartown in groups. The ride seemed to be no longer than 15-20 mins. I was dropped off on the corner and it was an easy walk to the front door. When I left I caught a local taxi called by the front desk. I easily used Lyft/Uber to get around the Island and there were local buses that were inexpensive and convenient. Arrival: I believe the entrance and the facilities where I stayed were new. I see in previous reviews there wasn't a front desk. The arrival instructions (need to be updated) still had the old location and the lock box details. I discovered there's an entrance with a Front Desk agent and another entrance where the lock box is located. Both locations are right next door to each other. Once I found the right entrance, I checked in with the front desk agent. She was friendly and available for questions throughout my stay. I also met the Manager of the property who was also friendly and welcoming. Overall stay: This hotel was very peaceful. It's conveniently located next to all the local shops and great restaurants. I was able to easily walk to the lighthouse. The quality of the rooms, the breakfast and the hospitality was far worth the cost of the stay. I loved that I could book just the weekend. My full room deposit was due upfront but that seems standard for Martha's Vineyard properties. Overall it was a delightful stay. I'd book this hotel again and suggest it to others. My favorite part was the breakfast!

Yelp
I debated between a three and four star review for this place, really a 3.5 for me. We didn't have the greatest stay, but not all of that was the fault of the hotel. First off, it's set in beautiful Edgartown in Martha's Vineyard, so the location is absolutely prime. Also it was one of the few nice hotels where you could book only a single night on the weekend, which was very convenient for our travel plans. The hotel is not staffed, you pick up your key in a box at check in. There is apparently a number you can call if you need help or you can go to their sister property nearby if you need anything. This was all pretty clearly communicated by multiple emails before our arrival. There was parking around the back, but it wasn't totally obvious where the entrance to the hotel was. It was also a bit of a schlep to get our bags up to the room - pack light if you stay here! The room itself was nice, small but well appointed and clean. My mom and I had a long day of travelling, and went to bed early, only to be woken up around 11 pm by some very loud and drunk guests in the lobby. It is an older building and the walls are paper thin. I had to go down eventually to get them to quiet down. Breakfast is left outside your room in a little box. It arrived 20 minutes later than the stated time, not a big deal but we were on a bit of a tight schedule so it was a little rushed. This was too bad, as it was a really delicious breakfast with a lot of thought and care and loads of homemade treats. All in all there were good and bad things about our stay, and even by pricey MV standards I found it a little overpriced for what you get.

Yelp
Perfect! We stayed on July 12/2018 for our wedding anniversary and loved it! They went out of their way to accomadate my husband who has trouble with stairs. Breakfast was lite, lovely and creative. We'd go back!

Yelp
5 plus stars. We spent a very short honeymoon here. The hotel is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The beds are SO comfortable (again, super clean white linens). Outdoor fire pit was a great spot before or after dinner. Due to Covid, they couldn't offer a breakfast, so instead they had a grab and go which was EXCELLENT. Fresh, organic choices that weren't typical greasy free breakfast fare. The staff couldn't be more accommodating. Central to everything, we walked to restaurants, shops and the shore every day. We walked to the lighthouse in 6 minutes. The vibe was young, friendly, and fun.

Yelp
Clean, friendly and quaint enough to forget that you're actually in a hotel. Asked the Manager what time check out was - her response "what time do you need?" Explaining that we just got up (late!), she said, "how does noon work?" I said great! She replied "no worries!" For that reason alone, I will stay there again! Great place!

Yelp
The hotel owners (Lark) have apologized and refunded me for the one room for two nights. They also apologized for the rude manager. This action is very much appreciated and very fair. Thank you!

Yelp
This hotel is having a ton of issues. Worst of which is that they overcharged me. They billed me correctly at check out. And they billed me more after I left. They could not even give me their own lark frequent traveler discount. Plus they cannot seem to send email confirmations. And they do not keep the COVID rules very well. They let customers do whatever they want. I would not post this but 2 weeks later they still owe me a small amount and their offer to me is a discount in the future. Why should I believe they would actually do the discount???

Yelp
Stayed here for a long weekend. Had a nice, clean and large room. The bathrooms are VERY small. You have to go out of the bathroom to dry off. Other people mentioned a breakfast basket, but we didn't get that :(. Cute breakfast in the lobby. Friendly staff - but could be a bit more knowledgeable about recommendations of where to bike, see, etc.

Yelp
We stayed in The Sidney in June. We forgot to take two swimming tunks, and asked to sent them by mail or UPS to our home address. We asked several times, and were told several times that the trunks will be sent. It's October now, but no swimming trunks. Very, very bad service! Jhim

Yelp
Bad start to our stay at the Sydney - They have 22 rooms but only 7 parking spots for the first come - first in guests - the other 15 guests must stay in (2) public parking lots that are: "per the desk girl, only a 3-minute walking distance away". Do not feel like walking in the dark back to my hotel from a nice dinner meal. I am 64-yrs old, and I have to say I have never ever stayed at a hotel were I did not have a private parking spot at the hotel. Parking my car 3-minutes away in a public parking lot near the beach - DUH - Invitation to a break in ... Also: No Additional wall outlets to plug in your computer - Had to disconnect a room lamp - Another DUH ... Also: No vanity in bathroom - just a small sink - The window sills and glass table have to work - Lets hope all else goes ok - PS: Not worth $700 per night ... I know its Edgartown, but I certainly a did not do my homework when booking this hotel ...

Yelp
Marla and Julie have really made our stay in Martha's Vineyard spectacular. We stayed in room 7, the petit queen and it was quaint and beautiful. The entire hotel was eloquently decorated in a modern island feel. I stayed here with my aunt and we felt very spoiled by the small luxuries provided. The breakfast was delivered in a basket to our door and was unbelievably tasty! Marla's southern roots and Julie's South American flare really shine with their baking expertise. They also set out home-made cookies at 3 every afternoon! Marla and Julie are an extremely warm pair and put their heart and soul into their business. They spent time talking to us and sharing stories with us. They are beautiful people! Lastly, the location of the Sydney was extremely convenient and in the heart of Edgartown. Thank you so much Marla and Julie!

Yelp
A fabulous gem that is nearly perfect. The rooms are impeccably decorated, but they are indeed very small and there is no lobby at this building. No problem when the weather is lovely, but was a bit tight on the rainy day. All details were lovely, the breakfast basket was very thoughtfully arranged and the outdoor seating was a great place to meet other guests. Location is amazing as well

Yelp
Spent July 5 and 6 at the Sydney. The rooms are small but clean. The hotel has recently opened or renovated. Our TV didn't work, we were told comcast was aware of the situation. I appreciate that they couldn't control comcast but when I mentioned it I was told I didn't need to watch tv. Maybe this is true but for the price$$$$ I should have that option and not a lecture from the front desk person. My room safe didn't work and it was never set up during our stay. This was a situation where an I am sorry what can I do for you would have been much better then a lecture on not needing tv while your on the island.

Yelp
I booked at this hotel as my Best Friend was getting married and this is where everyone was staying back in Feb. I was the 3rd person to book my room so I had 6 rooms to choose from. I am on a budget so I booked the Petite queen room #7 at 395$ a night. The description clearly states that this room has a private bathroom(which has since been updated). When I arrived I couldn't even find the room, which is located in the emergency exit hallway. I had to call and ask where it was and when they told me, they then said the bathroom was at the end of the hall. This took me by surprise as I would NEVER book a hotel room without a private bathroom. I travel and spend at least one week a month in a hotel, and this was totally unacceptable. So I talked to other members of the wedding party and was asked not to leave as the bride was already stressed out due to the wedding. If I had my way I would have been on the next flight out as this made me very uncomfortable. Upon checking out the bathroom I found out it is located right next to stairs that are the emergency exit downstairs. The hotel is not locked and anyone had access to my bathroom. Once I had to actually use it as my friends were getting ready and I could not use the ones in their room, I QUICKLY discovered there is not even a LOCK on the inside of the bathroom! ANYONE CAN WALK IN AT ANYTIME!!! I was NEVER Comfortable the 2 nights I stayed here due to this. It felt like a dorm room with the bathroom down the hall and you have to bring your toiletries with you every time. Also, I am a light sleeper and look for black out shades on a hotel listing as this one also states it has. It has blinds but no blackout shades and curtains are decorative and only cover 1/4 of the windows. When I went to check out, I brought my concerns up to the owners/managers and all they replied with was "OK". After paying almost 400$ a night to stay here I expected a little more professionalism than that. They were very nice to my friends who got married and the hotel itself is cute, but the fact that they CLEARLY lie about the room itself I could NEVER endorse this business.

Yelp
The Sydney is the quaintest, most magical hotel I've had the pleasure of visiting. The owners thought of everything we'd need, and were there to help, but were never intrusive. Their love and care was evident from the moment we arrived, when we were greeted with a small box in front of our room's door with a key in it and delicious chocolates. We stayed in Room 7, which was adorable and very comfortable. The bathroom is down a short hallway, but it's the only room in the corridor, so you have complete privacy. Every morning, a breakfast basket filled with toothsome treats and a handwritten note arrived at our door. Upon checkout, the owners held onto our luggage, gave us towels for a day at the beach, and arranged a taxi to take us to the airport when it was time to leave. My friend and I were thrilled with the experience, and I plan to go back very soon to stay there again!
