Super nice place and delicious food! We will come back soon to try different plates. The dessert is sooo good🫠 simple but tasty! I do not recommend for large groups because the space is limited, but for couples or few friends is a very cool place to go.

Excellent tacos and nice cozy vibes. Highly recommend the battered fish tacos. If you like spicy, ask for the habanero sauce - really ups the game. It’s definitely a bit overpriced but it’s the best tacos in town so I keep coming back!

Fun vibrant atmosphere. Friendly service and delicious food. The server was very nice. I enjoyed the chicken tacos and classic margarita.

Delicious tacos served on homemade corn tortillas! I got the vegetarian tacos which were incredible. Full of vegetables and satisfying. My parents tried the chicken enchiladas which was a special and tacos al pastor. The salsa was fresh and tasty. The staff was great here and were very attentive as we dined. You order at the counter so I was not expecting as much table service as we received. I would recommend coming here for a quick and tasty bite.

Google
Must try the Street Corn! This is my favorite taco place. The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. You order at the counter and they will bring out the food to your table. I’m a repeat customer so i hope my review holds more weight than the usual review. The only negative I can think of is that the space is on the smaller side, but they do have outdoor seating if you prefer that. It can get crowded depending on the day of the week. Definitely try them out. You wont be disappointed.

My favorite spot!! Food and drinks are excellent. Great vibes and wonderful staff! Julian is the best, really creates a good atmosphere. If you’re in Tarrytown or any of the chain locations this is a must go to.

I recently tried out Taco Project, and I've got to say, it did not disappoint! The vibe of the place is super chill and welcoming—perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends. The menu has a great variety, from classic tacos to some more creative options, and everything I tried was packed with flavor. The shrimp taco was a standout—crispy, fresh, and topped with just the right amount of slaw and sauce. The margaritas were on point too—strong and tasty, just the way I like them! Service was friendly and fast, which is always a plus.

Came here on Sunday evening before a show at the Music Hall. The food was delicious! I love the thin deep fried tortilla bowl. It was so flavorful. Ordered a veggie burrito bowl and loved very bite of it. The black beans were cooked just right, chewy and not mushy. The rice also was cooked just right, not squishy like most places. Would come back here again. Appreciate that you walk up to order and they bring you the food when ready. This way you don't have to wait for a server to come and take your order.

Yelp
Mexican and vegan cuisine don't always seem to mix, so it's rare to find a place that not only accommodates an ethical vegan like myself and my omnivore friend, but does so with thoughtful attention to detail. The Taco Project exceeded all expectations! We were incredibly lucky to visit today and receive the most welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and all-around exceptional customer service from Julian. He was fantastic! Julian helped me make the best choices as a vegan, taking extra care to explain which items might have cross-contamination with oil and ensuring I felt completely catered to. My friend, an omnivore, was equally impressed--her dishes were just as outstanding. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and inviting, with large glass windows that offer a view of Tarrytown's charming historic street. The interior features exposed brick walls and stunning azure blue accents with beautifully painted designs throughout. Just inside, to the left, you'll notice proudly displayed awards recognizing The Taco Project as the Best Mexican Restaurant and Taco Spot in Westchester County for multiple consecutive years--and for good reason! Their beverage selection is fantastic, with options like cold Horchata, hibiscus tea, lemonade, Sangria, and even Coronas. Unfortunately, I couldn't try any of the desserts, but the churros and flan looked absolutely amazing. One of the best parts? The Taco Project has multiple locations, making it even easier to enjoy their incredible food. They even have an app for added convenience! Julian truly went above and beyond, serving as a perfect ambassador for this hidden gem of a restaurant. We will definitely be back, and we'll be telling all our friends! Make The Taco Project your go-to spot for incredible Mexican fare--you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Went on a holiday weekend close to Halloween so the entire downtown was packed. We slid into Taco Project for some great food. You order at the counter and if you can get a seat they will bring you the food. The employees were super friendly and helpful. We had the BBQ pork tacos, chicken tacos, and chips with guacamole, all of which were delicious. Tacos are the small street style and come two to an order; for a late lunch along with the chips I was satisfied. They also have a margarita menu including a very good spicy marg. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Julian is an excellent and welcoming host. Fun bright corner joint with about 7 high top tables and counters - the food is delicious and they are vegan friendly too. Clean bright atmosphere with decent Mexican music playing in the background. Service is quick. Good selection of tacos and bowls - ordered extra spicy salsa and guacamole ! Will definitely return

Holly W.

Yelp
It's the Halloween parade and we are stuck on the other side of the street. No worries - we ordered online and my daughter slipped through the street barriers to get our dinner! It was an easy ordering process and done a few minutes early even though it was busy!! The food- compact. Birria, delicious! Messy but most burritos are. Would appreciate if they didn't cut it! How come I couldn't order extra sour cream in the app on the burrito? The quesadilla- really cheesy. Yum!

Oi W.

Yelp
Tiny crowded place. Friendly service. Ordered and got super lucky to get a seat by the window. The tables in the middle were right next to the line of people waiting to order and pickup, so it felt like people would be on top of us while we ate. Worth the wait for the Pork Belly Tacos, I wish they were in NJ, hehehe. BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos were OK. It was a good sauce for ribs, but it didn't go well as a taco. Hubby did like it more than I did, hehehe

Yelp
The Taco Project is a cool restaurant. Loved the vibe and the food was pretty good. Food: So, let's taco 'bout this place! I dove into the Chili Shrimp and Mexican Corn Tacos, while my buddy tackled the Birria Bowl. The shrimp had some killer flavors, especially after I added a squirt of salsa verde for that extra kick. Only gripe? Wish they offered singles so I could mix it up. And those tortillas? Super tasty, but man, double 'em up next time to avoid the messy "blowout" situation. He loved the Birra Bowl. Super filling and satisfying. I also like that they have Margaritas, a nice surprise. Now, onto service: These guys were the real MVPs. Despite the fast-casual setup, they kept tables clean and were all over the dining area like pros. Vibe-wise? Cool as a cucumber. Digging the décor and that sunny corner spot, even on a gloomy day. Great place to chill and chow down. They have one in Stamford, where I have a client, so I will give that location a try as well. Date of Visit: 20 March 2024

Yelp
Taco Project a place I've always wanted to try and finally had the time to give it a go. I definitely can say this will be our go-to taco spot whenever we are in the mood for good tacos. The tacos to order are: - Battered Fish: Atlantic Cod topped with Red Cabbage Slaw, Guaca Salsa, Cilantro, and Radish -Chicken: Free Range Chicken Rolled in Chipotle topped with Cilantro, Jicama, and Radish -Grilled Shrimp: Mango Salsa, Tomatillo Sauce, Cilantro, and Radish I would recommend the battered fish tacos which is glorious for the taste buds Also all three tacos are gluten free except for battered fish but can be grilled. -Service was exceptional in helping for dietary restrictions -Cute Ambiance

Sally T.

Yelp
The food here is incredibly tasty and well portioned, I.e. not excessive. Had the shrimp burrito and grilled steak burrito bowl. Have been here a few times in the past year and just love the vibe and the friendly service. Was here to enjoy the St Patrick's Day Parade and a jazz show at Jazz Forum. Had a great view of the parade from the front window while enjoying the meal, and for dessert, the BEST cup of hot chocolate I've ever had.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Had a great, casual dinner here on a Saturday night! The ambience is nice--large windows let in a lot of light, and you have the option of sitting inside or outside. We saw a lot of cute dogs with their owners at the tables outside. How it works is you order at the counter--there's a pretty decent size menu with tacos, burritos, bowls, not to mention a few other side dishes, desserts and drinks. For two people, we ordered: Salmon tacos (3/5) not great, a little too much mayo. Shrimp bowl (4/5) the shrimp was crispy and fried well. I liked the combo of everything in the bowl although I wasn't a fan of the taco shell bowl itself. Guacamole and chips (5/5) sooooo good. You get a really big portion of guacamole! We loved this.

Ava W.

Yelp
This small little eatery is on a corner right on a hill that comes up from the station into the main street of Tarrytown! The inside is decorated colorfully. And I was quite surprised by how filling the dish was! And of course, beyond delicious! Will definitely be coming back!

Carolina S.

Yelp
I very rarely eat anywhere else other than the Greek spot in Tarrytown. Boy, was I missing out. I came here with a solid GHOUL crowd for our annual Halloween fill and spent the whole day bopping around. I remembered that the Taco Project always appears to be busy. And since it was a Monday, I was hoping we could manage to squeeze in. Who would deny 5 little spooky ladies a taco! We snagged the last outside table that could fit a large group. We all ordered from the counter which was helpful to not fight over the bill. And then the food all looked great. Running around a cemetery is tiresome and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I needed some fish tacos! And chips and guac! And a Modelo! Nom nom nom! The ghouls were all super excited about their choices. When the twins came out with "Pumpkin Margaritas" we knew we had to jump in line for that one. My tacos were the perfect size, I loved the breading for the tacos, the slaw was perfect and the tortilla almost stole the show. My guac was spot on and the chips were nice crunchy. We were all insanely happy with our choices and wish there was a NY location closer to us. We could always use some high quality tacos. There was still so much we wanted to try. Especially those churros! The guy working the register was super nice and complimented us on our "Halloween" flare (who are we kidding, this is us every day). Ha! It's nice to have great food, friendly service and the best company. PS that's the fire station making that weird noise. Don't worry about it. Until next time The Taco Project!

Yelp
Decent Tacos. Decent pricing. Tacos are medium sized single corn tortilla style - 2 per order. Fish tacos were the standout to me - I had them grilled and was happy to have the choice not to have them fried. Pulled chicken tacos were flavorful but not my favorite. Shrimp tacos were generously piled with shrimp - but they were fried. Not sure if there's a choice? Food was made quickly and the folks were friendly. Small interior with a few tables inside and outside (weather permitting). Will try them again at some point in the future.

Yelp
The food was so good. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and my friend ordered a chicken burrito. Not only was the ambience of the restaurant very nice, our orders were very fast and efficient. I highly recommend those orders. Even the sides were amazing such as the Pico de Gallo. Shoutout to the cash register Julian for being very patient and took the time to help us out.

Vicky L.

Yelp
Ordered the Sidewinder Fries, Taco Birria, Fish Tacos and everything was delicious! The fries were crispy even when we finished the tacos. Both tacos were decent in size and very flavorful. There was plenty of seating. The seating near the windows even had a hook for bags/jackets. The staff was patient as my friend and I was visiting the town and took a while to choose what we wanted to eat.

Hailey S.

Yelp
tacos were honestly really good. tacos all served on corn tortillas, which were some of the better tortillas i've had. it's an order at counter and then sit type of restaurant salsa is pico. great meal.

Richie T.

Yelp
I got the chicken tacos and steak there were good could have had more meat inside . Staff was friendly

Alexis N.

Yelp
Ordered the chips and guac (spicy), the chicken burrito and the birria tacos. The guac wasn't spicy at all - I don't think having 3 very thinly deseeded slices of jalapeño counts as spice. The food was so bland, lacked salt, acid, and any heat. The chicken burrito tasted like nothing, and the birria tacos were so bland, desperately needed salt and spice.

Yelp
Today was my sons first time riding on the train so we decided to make a day out of it by stopping in Tarrytown for some good eats. We got in the area around lunchtime which brought a moderate crowd into the establishment. I wanted to try it all and ordered an assortment of what was on the menu. My favorite taco is tied between the pork belly taco and pulled pork. Both were really good but the pork belly was my wife's favorite. The steak and fish tacos were good however, I think better topping would've made them better. The mango salsa that came with the pork belly tacos was a hit. Overall this place added to a perfect day trip with my family. I will definitely stop by when we do another trip like the one today.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
A great little spot in Tarrytown. We made a quick stop here for lunch on our way to mohonk and so glad we did. Food was delicious and flavorful. Not oversalted or heavy. My husband and I ordered: Corn on the cob: yum! some places burn this but they didn't. nice balance of the cheese. Guacamole: good prep, fresh chips and a good portion size. You can tell they didn't add "fillers" to skimp you on the avocado. Chicken Tortilla soup: loved this! it was a special. nice crunch, yummy chicken and overall a great soup on a chilly day. Al pastor tacos: my husband really enjoyed this. pork was cooked perfectly. great seasoning. Fish tacos: I had the grilled one and it was light, fresh and delicious. I topped it with the guacamole and it was a winner. will get this again if i stop by. overall a great taco spot and will definitely stop by again if in Tarrytown!

Yelp
Taco Project was one of the first places I scoped out upon knowing I was moving to Tarrytown. Decently priced tacos that have won awards? Yes please. The storefront, like most of Tarrytown, is adorable. On the small side but the tables on the sidewalk add some much needed space. I was just getting takeout but service was very friendly and the food was ready quick. All in all a good experience even if the food fell a bit short from my aspirations. Shrimp tacos were decent but not world beating. The shrimp used was good quality and there was a respectable amount of it, however the dish lacked flavor. The mango salsa was alright but the salsa verde was missing; it was badly missed, as it left the tacos under seasoned. The tortilla was very average and didn't hold up well at all. It was also unsubstantial, and left me hungry even though I had 3 tacos. Got the Mexico corn too which was a good value. This had heat but could've used more flavorful spices to round it out. My wife got the chicken bowl which she loved. It comes in a tortilla which is nice, and will probably be what I would've gotten instead in hindsight. Will try this again as I don't think I got this place's best. For now this was perfectly edible but fell short of the hype. Also want to try the margarita/sangria.

Yelp
Wow doesn't even come close to covering this Taco (and more) paradise. I just came in from NYC on the train and The Taco Project is right up the street. What a great find! I had the order taker/cashier dude pick me two sets of tacos and then added another set of shrimp. I ended up with grilled salmon, chorizo and grilled shrimp tacos. All of them were perfect. Unique in their own flavors of very fresh ingredients and blends. I was very pleasantly impressed! I'll be surfing the menu for more too as the bowls looked great too. Look for me often as this will be my new go-to place in Tarrytown!!! Thank you The Taco Project for an awesome experience!!!

Angelina P.

Yelp
The Taco Project has never disappointed! I was so happy when they opened close to Pace University while I was still going there! I love the shrimp tacos and shrimp burrito bowl! I tend to eat pretty small portions so the shrimp tacos are more my speed when I eat there! I also love the chips and margaritas! They are so delicious and they definitely give you enough for the price! The guacamole on the chips is also to die for and I could eat all day if I had to!

Rick S.

Yelp
Food is solid and the service is generally fine. BUT: they seem to not really go by the hours they have posted. Drove well out of my way to eat there one night around 8 on a night when their website said they were open until 9. They were already closed and the guy sitting there farting around on his phone just waved me off. If you have hours you say you're open, be open. Don't just make it up as you go along.

Macy T.

Yelp
Amazing fresh tacos! My kids favorite were the beef tacos and I had the honey chicken salad. I would definitely return and highly recommended this place for tacos. I look forward to trying out the rest of their menu.

Simone S.

Yelp
The taco project is a chain and their food I can say is consistently good. This location was no different. Got the chicken and steak taco (1 off each). The steak was cooked perfectly, not overcooked, not chewy, not hard. And it was very flavorful. The chicken was also good. Could have used a bit more flavor. Watermelon agua Fresca. Just get it. Delicious and refreshing. My daughter got the beef tacos. Also good. Seasoned well and not too spicy. Where they lost me. The flan. The guy who works there said it was good and made in house. Well whoever made this one should not have put it out. The caramel tasted burnt and the top of the flan was clearly burnt. The custard was good; smooth, no lumps and not eggy. But I couldn't get past the burnt top. The decor of the place is too cute. Not a ton of seating inside but additional seating outside. Maybe enough for 10 inside and another 10 outside.

Allana D.

Yelp
This is a pretty small space but the tacos and guacamole here are great! They also have jarrito's sodas if you still haven't quit sugar like me (you only live once as far as we all can tell sooo....) you need to have one with your taco. I highly recommend eating food from here as fresh as possible as the longer you wait, the less satisfying it will be. (Hopefully I don't have to go into the full science of taco shell degradation here.) Anyway, come, eat, get a soda and leave a tip!

Bobby G.

Yelp
Amazing apps and great quesadilla. Awesome spot for authentic Mexican. Staff was attentive and kind

Danielle O.

Yelp
I can confidently without any hesitation give myself top credentials against anyone to be a Taco Aficionado. Hailing from San Diego, we have a very discerning eye and attuned taste buds to make these claims. So this review is 1000% Valid. - Baja Mexicali Baby!!!!! Birra Taco's - VALID - GOOD. (could take a bit more cheese, but the flavor is SPOT ON with a lil kick. NOT spicy, just flavor kick) Consume with taco's - Valid, just need more. A lickl bit more... Rice - No BUENO - Not the Spanish/Mexican Rice of MexiCali Elote - Valid - needs to be more... lol Paloma - EXCELENTE. Woosh! Great drink, strong enough, and the tajin on the rim. A friend got the spicy Jalapeno Margarita... MUY BUENO! spot on!

Luis V.

Yelp
I got the chicken tacos and they were good little pricey staff was friendly not many seats available

Marc K.

Yelp
I got the pork belly tacos. They took 20 minutes but let me tell you this much--worth it. The crispy pork was beyond flavorful and not overly fatty--artfully fried. The taco shell was soft and home made. The fresh pineapple brought an element of sweet. The BEST tacos I have ever had. Hands down. Not even close.

Joel L.

Yelp
Very expensive for what you get, the tacos are tiny with very little meat. . I had the Birreo tacos and at the most there was an ounce of meat. I'll never understand why this place is always crowded. $15 for two tiny tacos, geez

MengYao L.

Yelp
Have visited once before but decided to stop by again. We ordered a Mexican corn to share and they were delicious! For drinks I got the hibiscus agua frescas and it was very good. My bf and I shared the coconut shrimp, chicken tacos and beef tacos. I really like the flavors of the protein. Also ordered the chicken and beef quesadilla to go which were also very delicious. The staff were all super friendly. I will definitely be returning!

Liz M.

Yelp
10 year old scarfed down beef tacos. I had beef burrito. Both were quite good, ready for takeout when promised. But really, nothing special. Guacamole was just ok

Suhas V.

Yelp
One star because of good ingredients and service. Otherwise it is the worst Mexican food I have eaten. Their dishes will get laughed out of forget Mexico even Texas. Guacamole lacked salt and heat. not just the salsa but prork meat in their tacos was sweet. Ditto for salad. The spiciest thing was horchata. :-)

Aaron B.

Yelp
BEST.BURRITO.EVER! I travel for work and stopped here to grab lunch and I can't say enough how great service was, how great the food was and how disappointed you WON'T be. You're doing yourself a favor if you eat here

Law G.

Yelp
Worst tacos my family and I have ever had ANYWHERE. Went here because the reviews were decent and we were in the mood for tacos. We ordered the. shrimp and beef tacos. With the shrimp tacos, all you taste is the fried batter enveloping the tiny shrimps. The beef tacos were even worse - disgusting tasteless and drenched in oil. I told the manager, he offered to replace the beef tacos but really it was just so bad there would have been no point to accept his offer. He then offered to refund half of the price ...huh??? I said no thanks and we left. Really ...hours later and I'm still feeling naseous. I wonder if the reviews for this place are recent enough or even not paid for. I saw they have another location, and I can't comment beyond my own experience: Absolutely awful tasting tacos. Guacamole was o.k. Hope y'all have a better eating experience.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Cute, trendy spot in Tarrytown. It's a pretty small restaurant so it wouldn't be good for a big group. I got the fish tacos and sidewinder fries; both came fairly quickly. The fries were AMAZING - super crispy and came with 3 dipping sauces. The fish tacos were simple but delicious!

Yuriy N.

Yelp
Really good little taco spot. Great service. Phenomenal tacos, must-try quesadillas, amazing drinks. Definitely stop by for a quick bite or a dine in date.

Robert Tenecota

Yelp
Great restaurant and great service. Will definitely recommend the steak and pork belly tacos. They are great. Shout out to the Saturday morning crew for the brunch service.

Kina B.

Yelp
The Steak salad is delicious! Seating could be better but the food is always great.

William R.

Yelp
This is wicked good. Small inside but absolutely awesome Mexican food. It is small but has an inviting and fun atmosphere. It is definitely worth going to. It also features outdoor seating on a cool little street. It just seems like a very nice neighborhood to hang out. I love the taco project flavors: good spice without being overly hot and a freshness that seems out of the ordinary in a very, very good way. I'm glad we know about this place because it has become a nice stop for us if we're traveling that way or coming back home from NJ or PA or something.

Von A.

Yelp
Decent tacos - Protien heavy tacos. I like the fun chill vibe of this place - though was not too impressed with the presentation and toppings. I got two kinds of Tacos, where they came 2 pcs to an order - where one was steak, and the other was pork belly. I felt that they could have done a better job making the tacos more distinct from each other - the two kind of tacos I had basically looked and tasted the same, just a difference in meat and may 1 ingredient. I'm also not a fan of the large pieces of cilantro or the chunky julienne cuts of raw radish.

Chanda A.

Yelp
This is my favorite time of year, so yesterday we went on a little road trip to Tarrytown to take in the beautiful views of the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee bridge. We found ourselves at The Taco Project for a quick dinner before heading back. We shared the guacamole and I ordered the veggie tacos. The guac was good, but could have used a little more spice. I do wish they had asked us how spicy we wanted it. The veggie tacos were dairy free and all of the ingredients tasted super fresh, including the corn tortillas, which are locally made. It's a casual restaurant with a more to-go vibe, but a few tables if you want to dine in. I love the fun decor and all of the thoughtful little details. For more reviews from a vegetarian slant, check out my Instagram - @thisvegetarianlifenyc

Florence V.

Yelp
Ordered some churros for the road, was disappointed to find that it was pretty dry and crumbly like thick cake batter. Hopefully get to try other food next time. Inside the restaurant was cozy and small but had tables set up outside for outdoor seating.

Diane C.

Yelp
Was in town to do a tour of the houses up the road and found this spot! Was VERY good--service was friendly and fast. Best quac we've had in a long time. Rest of the food was very good as well. Not a lot of space but was nicely decorated and would definitely try again in the area

Emily M.

Yelp
I had been to the Taco Project in Bronxville, somehow this place is better than that location. Food quality seemed higher than what I got when ordering there. Chicken tacos were good, but the steak tacos were phenomenal. Service could be improved, including knowing what is actually on the menu. I had ordered the corn and was really looking forward to it, but alas after our tacos had all come out and we still didn't get the corn, we asked about it and found out they didn't even have any corn. Not sure if they were hoping we would forget we ordered the corn or something? Coconut tres leches cake was ok. Frosting on top wasn't great. The toasted coconut and caramel drizzle were nice, though. Next time I'd probably opt for the churros.

Jason M.

Yelp
The tacos here are delicious! I got the steak tacos and I was not disappointed. The steak was nice and juicy and wasn't dried out. They were filled to the brim with meat and didn't overcompensate with toppings.

David H.

Yelp
Great bowls here usually get steak bowl. Normally get to go but a few tables inside and looks clean and nice. Everyone at the counter has been very nice too

Jesse B.

Yelp
The New York style of restaurants is very different to me, but food was good and for as busy as they were there service was fast! Deft if your in Tarrytown you should check them out!
