Why St. Augustine Should Be Your Next Girls Getaway

"If I can't decide what to eat, I take the three-hour food tour by The Tasting Tours to sample some of the city's best dishes and drinks; it's women-owned, which I love, and it packs a lot of variety into a single outing." - Jessica Poitevien Jessica Poitevien Jessica Poitevien is an international storyteller and regular contributor to Travel + Leisure. Google
We had the best experience this past Saturday taking the Forks and Corks tour with Kimberly as our guide. She was so much fun and her selection of restaurants was perfect. This was my second time taking this tour and Kimberly made a special effort to choose different stops so I would have a different experience. She did repeat one of my previous stops, The Old City House, but I was so grateful because it was my favorite on the first tour. I especially loved that Kimberly told us we didn’t need to worry about photographing everything because she would and sent us all the pictures after the tour. It was nice to live in the moment instead worrying about capturing our experiences for social media. Ok, one more brag about Kimberly…she interacted with other Tasting Tour guides as we passed them, including bravely standing in front of the Grinch’s golf cart as he headed our way. It was truly a great day and now that I know efforts are made to not repeat locations for repeat guest, I will be back again.

Google
Did the Very Unmerry Grinchmas tour. Best tour ever. Our hostess Christie and The Grinch were both great! Such an all around good time. Even the waiting was fun. On the cart everyone laughed non-stop as The Grinch trash talked every innocent bystander. Absolutely hilarious! Will be doing this again next year for sure. Wish I knew which Grinch it was to book the same one next year. If anyone knows it was December 19th at 10:00pm. Thanks for a great time! Very worth the short drive up from Daytona

Terry B.

Google
We had such a wonderful afternoon. Rene was our guide and he was simply outstanding! He shared with us so much knowledge of historics and well as current info. The stops we made for tastings of food and drink were all fantastic. The dish at our first location was delicious and the host/owner was so bubbly and proud. The other venues were all outstanding. I could go on and on. As a note, you will certainly see the need to walk to get the full experience (and to offset those calories!). Thank you Rene for such a wonderful experience we will treaure for ever!

Google
We participated in the tasting tours in St Augustine during the December nights of lights festival. Our guide Renee along with 3 other couples made this a highlight of our 4 day trip. Not only was the food interesting and delicious, but the wine was exceptional and Renee provided insights from his extensive understanding of the history of St Augustine that made this a memorable experience. The trip was also very efficient as every restaurant had the tables set up and the food ready to go. I presume this required good communication from Renee but this was seamless to us. We’re made five stops and would return to each restaurant for a meal on our own if we had time. Most unique stop was for Meade tasting… never tried before and bought a bottle to take home. The last stop was for dessert and the presentation alone was amazing but the taste was even better. We had a great group of participants to further enhance the experience and all enjoyed the tour. We’ve done other and wine tours including Europe and this experience was as memorable as any. We will definitely do this tour on our next visit and request Renee. We highly recommend this tour when visiting St Augustine.

Google
We took the Tasting Tour with Judi with an “i” She was great! No wonder she was voted Best Tour Guide. She picked us up at the church. Another couple and their grandson joined us. It wasnt long before Judi had us laughing together like old friends. My daughter and I would definitely recommend the Tasting Tours and especially Judi (with an i) The food was great, the wine stop was informative; a great way to see St Augustine. Next time, we will take this tour again. It was well worth it! Thank you Judi (with an i)💋

Epic Family Q.

Google
The Grinch was HILARIOUS as always. We did a day time last year and nighttime this year. Both were great! Lots of laughs throughout the entire drive and the lights were pretty too. It's our favorite time to visit St. Augustine and the Very UnMerry Grinchmas Ride is a MUST! 40 minutes of fun and laughter.

Google
Birthday celebrations for our group on Saturday 9-27 with Renè AND he was absolutely the best professional guide Ever. He was so informative and knew all the history pertaining to St. Augustine and more. He made us laugh a lot too. 4 perfect stops that we had some of the best foods and drinks, ending with the best dessert at The Modern Rose. MIchael Boris and I will be back!!! Thank you, Joanna, for providing tours like this.

Jennifer M.

Google
Rob, (handsome Rob, for those that know him) was an excellent tour guide. Not only did he share his extensive knowledge of the history of St. Augustine and the influential family’s who shaped it, but the food selections were incredible! Rob made sure to accommodate the particular needs of one of our tour members and was an attentive host to all! The entire tour from start to finish was, wait for it…Chef’s Kiss!

Brian M.

Yelp
We had a great time! Rene our guide was very knowledgable and courteous and put on a great tour. This is our second time going with The Tasting Tours. The first time we did a walking tour. We would definitely go again next time we're in town.

Yelp
Getting this activity 'on the books' was more than aggravating, to say the least. The tasting tour says that to text them is a quicker option for response to inquiries (for them.) It most definitely didn't seem that way! They DID get back to me via text, but it wasn't in a quick fashion. I'd say an semi-acceptable fashion (within 8-12 hours.) Regardless, we DID get our event scheduled for a private tour with (15 people.) It was quite an expensive 'private tour' of the night of lights that was explained to me as tho the grinch (driving one trolly) and Santa (driving another trolly) would interact with one another (more than minimally) and make the tour exclusive to all 15 of us. They would hop off one trolly and interact with the passengers of the other trolly, etc. In reality, it was NOT a collective tour. The grinch separated from the other trolly and it was essentially two separate tours. Approximately 3-4 times they interacted with one another (acting as tho one would hit the other's trolly, yelling insults at Santa, responding to the grinch, and stopping at the 'duck bar' for the ambush together.) The address to initially meet at is kind of hard to find, even with GPS, as well! There is NO indication of 'the tasting tours' business name on the store front at the address. It is a Cuban bakery.' YES, we all had a good time.... But I don't want the rest of you that book a 'private' tour to be mislead or pay for something you won't receive. *** I also find it distasteful that the company charges an unprecedented amount of money for the trolly rides and then has the audacity to send an email asking for further tip for the trolly drivers.*** Whether a patron tips or not is up to them, not a business owner requesting it!

Yelp
They just called on us for the Grinch tour 30 min before our ride! They left our child crying BS

Abigail P.

Yelp
Did the wine and dine tour. Portions are not worth the ticket price and we were served more alcohol tastings than food tastings. Tour took a little over 4 hours and we were still hungry after. Our tour guide was great!
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Went on a Night if Lights carriage ride with Tasting Tours. Our driver was Carly and the horse was Fred. We were given a bottle of white wine and a bottle of red for 4 people. The ride was outstanding and the driver, Carly, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Have done Tasting Tours several times before and lived all of them. Wonderful time!

Yelp
We had an awesome time at food and wine tasting tour where we paired our wine and food at 4 local restaurants in downtown St. Augustine. Scott, our tour guide was so fun and played the 90's music while we rode the fun golf cart ride! One of my favorite one was the wine and cheese spread at the top floor of cathedral with a beautiful view of the city. The eggplants spread, goat cheese with honey on a rustic bread was amazing and the wine was wonderful. What a fun way to explore the historic st. Augustine through food, amazing wine, view of downtown, and places to visit per our tour guide recommendations. I definitely recommend this tasting tour for a fun day in st. Augustine.

Marcella B.

Yelp
Our guide, Rob, gave our group a wonderful tour of St. Augustine and the food selections were great.
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
Did another Tasting Tours food tour this past weekend! Our guide-Scott-was SO much fun, a wealth of knowledge, and took really good care of us! This was our first golf cart tour and really allowed us to cover some ground without walking super far in the process. Cannot recommend Tasting Tours and Scott enough!! We have done every good tour in st augustine and learn something new everytime-the PERFECT way to explore our favorite Florida town!! We will definitely be back!! .
google avatar

Jodie M.

Yelp
We did the Grinchmas tour. We really enjoyed ourselves. We have older kids and the large trolley tours get old for them. This livened them all up! The Grinch was in full character and you'd never know it wasn't Jim Carey behind that mask! He even had a little fun with Lumpy the Elf. We definitely didn't have a 45 minute tour. That's the only downside. We were the last tour of the night. Maybe he was tired. We even started a bit late bc of 3 others in the tour getting hot chocolate.

Pamela F.

Yelp
My daughter and I had the best time on our Brunch Tour with Bonny. She was amazing! So friendly and informative. She told us a lot about the restaurants and chefs that we visited. I will definitely request her again.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite things to do with new friends and old ... try out the ever-evolving ever-expanding food and restaurant revolution in the nations oldest continuously lived-in city! The incredible knowledgeable and competent staff under direction from Andi & Niki will guide groups from place to place while imparting fun facts about the Town. They have worked hard to develop strategic alliances with these small business owners and allow them to highlight a memorable food experience that will draw customers back time and again whether visiting or living local. They operate out of Jacksonville too! Don't miss this opportunity and foodie experience!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
ETA - went back for Vino for Valentine's. Just as wonderful! Did the Above the Lights Tour. Excellent! 6 wines with generous pours. Great boutique wines. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed!

Madalyn M.

Yelp
Ask for Judi! The company was extremely accommodating for our party of 2 when the appointment time had not met the 4 person minimum. We were offered a few options for the next day but we were not available for any of the options so we got a private tour!! Ms. Judi was not only a kick in the pants but very informative. We got a full St Augustine experience in addition to the awesome food. We sampled cuisine from all over the world from wine and cheese samples from S Italy to Greek gyros and an exciting flaming cheese dish with wine to the BEST lobster with local beer roll to a Spanish tres leches bread pudding with more wine! We also stopped to taste naturally flavored olive oil and vinegars, a real treat. I really enjoyed concocting my own flavor combinations. We walked away with full bellies, a nice buzz and many recommendations for other drink, food and sights to experience during the rest of our stay.

Yelp
The Mr and I love food tours and book them everywhere we travel. This time around we were also celebrating his birthday with friends, so I wanted it to be extra special. The Taco Tuesday Roadster Tour has set the bar high for all future birthday celebrations. Corley was a lot of fun and traveling from place to place in his cute little red roadster really added to the experience. We enjoyed three different tacos, beer, margaritas, sangria, and finished off with a yummy dessert. Our group of four came away stuffed and happy. I HIGHLY recommend this tour, if you love tacos, cool vibes, drinks, and having a good time!

Melissa R.

Yelp
The service level is horrendous. The guides were not friendly, the problem solving skills were atrocious - the is no "tour", you are basically following the flag like toddlers ... definitely not worth the expense.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
www.thetastingtours.com ** Just remember that website ** So for my birthday, my wife surprised me by signing us to a Tasting Tour. This was a first time for both of us. As a foodie, it sounded very interesting. Then she mentioned wine, which I then became apprehensive about because I am more of a liquor/beer guy. I just don't have too much knowledge of wines. Fast forward to the tour, and I have to say I am more educated of The Wines 101. But that is just part of the tour, the others were sampling delicious foods/desserts/drink made by each shop. The Tasting Tours we went to was called "Saint Augustine Corks and Forks Tour" which is strolling tour. The tour includes 5 venues (I call them "pitstops"). It good to note that each tour is not equivalently the same and totally tailored and selected by your tour guide. Our fabulous tour guide, Laura took us the venues below. -- Athena Greek Restaurant -- Old City House Inn and Restaurant -- Casa De Vino 57 -- The Spice and Tea Exchange -- Chocolattes All in all, it was a fun and great experience. The weather was beautiful that day, which made this tour a very pleasant one. And it you have not been to one of these tours, I suggest you do. Come hungry and get ready to get your walk, eat and drink on.

Yelp
My family and I did the Gritchmas! it was amazing and funny. St Augustine! The Grinch was 10/10 Thank You! Ken

Yelp
We took a tour that was appropriately named, "Ghost with the Most" Pub Crawl! The Friday night tour was led by BeetleJuice! He was entertaining, friendly and had quick comebacks for every passerby! As we walked from pub to pub he gave us a ton of St Augustine history that even though I am a local, I did not know! Our group of 11 were entertained the entire time and went to new places that we had never been to. Overall, we made stops at 4 places. It was great because we were not rushed to "knock it down" but had time to talk, have a drink or two and use the restrooms. I recommend this pub crawl for tourists and locals. The tour guide was not corny - just a great guy to hang with for the night.

Connie G.

Yelp
We loved our Tasting Tour. We went to places we probably would not have discovered, and tried delicious foods we may not have ventured to try! Stress- free in a beautiful extended golf cart coach. Our guide Lisa was full of great stories, history, and insights of St. Augustine. Chef Angela prepared the best Tiramisu we ever tasted. At the end of the tour we got to enjoy the Wine Bar at the top of the Treasury building. Spectacular views, beautiful wines and foods. Great value- Looking forward to booking again soon with the Tasting Tours of St. Augustine- (They said they have partnerships with over 25 sites- and Tours can be different each time)

Yelp
We were on the Lights Tour with the Grinch. It was a fun and unique holiday experience and would recommend for a silly addition to the already beautiful lights of St. Augustine. Grinch played the part from beginning to end. There was a younger (maybe 10 years old) kid on our tour. Grinch regularly checked with the parents to see if he needed to tone down his jokes, so it seems he would tailor his tour to all age groups. Booking and check in was easy and organized. They had multiple tours going so if the Grinch isn't your thing, they had plenty of other options.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
We are regulars to St Augustine. I always wanted to do this with the Grinch. What a super fun thing it was. I laughed so much it was great. The Grinch played his mean ole part GREAT. It was so nice to enjoy this and be mean with him and laugh. The only small note is that it only lasted 35 minutes. Would have loved the 45 minutes as mentioned, even one hour.. A must do when you visit at Christmas time..

Sean R.

Yelp
Just completed an amazing wine tasting tour with the awesome Jessica! What a wealth of historical and local knowledge! The warm (hot) weather did nothing to lessen our enjoyment. The concept of pull-up to the establishments and food and wine is practically waiting for you! Was the greatest. Thank you for the experience (and the little extras) Thoroughly enjoyed the day!
google avatar

Rhenna T.

Yelp
We did the Grinch tour last night and had an absolute blast! It was so much fun watching him interact with the public and joining in! He does such an amazing job and is a fun character. 10/10 recommend!!!

Yelp
We did the corks and forks tour and had a great time. Food and drinks were amazing. Atmosphere was relaxed but fun. Loren ( aka man in the cowboy hat) was very knowledgeable on the restaurants we stopped at and also the history of the area can't wait to do another tour with them.

Marie K.

Yelp
We went on tour Corks & Forks Culinary Tour (Historic District) Saturday, September 2 2023 @ 1:00pm - 4:00pm The price is not worth what you get. They advertise showcases 4-5 of the Ancient City's hottest dining destinations! The first place was the Greek restaurant-that was ok. Served 2 small pieces of Greek cheese. The flaming one. You share what they give with all people on tour. Oh and a few pita bread pieces. Then we were served a small gyro and 1 small glass of wine. Then we went to an Olive Oil store. This is not dining. Total waste of time and money. They didn't even give bread for dipping. If you wanted to try the olive oil or vinegars you had to drink them. Not appealing at all. I don't call a store dining. We went to a wine tasting and served some sample and got to choose one we would like to have a glass. They served a small Charcuterie to share. It was ok. We went to a small Inn and had 2 raviolis and a glass of wine. Food tasty but portion small. At least offer bread. Then we went to a place for desert. We had a large piece of cake and shot glass of wine. Wasn't very good. Then we were taken back to the tour office to look out a window to see the view. So for $135.00 per person we had a tiny gyro, cheese, 2 raviolis, crackers, olives, salami, some bread, cake and olive oil to drink and small glasses of wine and cake. Granted hearing some history was interesting of the area. But we paid for a dining experience. Plus we walked to whole tour. Not at all worth the price of $329.13 to eat that. Very disappointing! We should have been served steak or something meaningful for that cost. There are fine dining restaurants in Saint Augustine's but we don't go. Pretty bad after 3 hrs of a dining experience and your hungry for a meal.

Yelp
When you want to feast with a side of history, this is the foodie walking tour for you! Ask for Sean, he's actually not a con... he's bomb.com
google avatar

chelsea a.

Yelp
Did the grinch tour. It was very entertaining and I learned some fun facts about the town from the guides

Scott K.

Yelp
Super fun tour with great food and a very knowledgeable guide (Alex). Plenty of opportunities to chat with other members of the party and to ask questions of our guide. Alex knows her food and the history of St. Augustine -- highly recommended!

Kristi H.

Yelp
We took the Boozy brunch tour with Jessica as an early Mother's Day brunch to beat the crowds. We've lived in the area for 40 years and still learned a lot we didn't know from Jessica and she took us to places we had never been. Her selections and the food and drinks were amazing. My mother as well as the rest of us enjoyed our day so much!! We will definitely do it again and again....and ask for Jessica.

Diana A.

Yelp
We had a delightful tour with Jessica, she was energetic & entertaining. Jessica was very knowledgeable about both the food & wine we sampled as well as about the history of St. Augustine. It was an excellent way to spend an afternoon.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
What a wonderful time on the Corks & Forks Tasting Tour! It was as our first time in Saint Augustine and our tour guide Peter not only made the day fun but taught us so much history! There wasn't a single question we asked he didn't have an answer to! Thank you Peter for the awesome tour!

Judy P.

Yelp
Tour guide was good but the food stops were not good choices and we never got a full meal. We spent $150 pp and did not get our moneys worth. DONT GO ON THIS TOUR!
google avatar

Beverly C.

Yelp
Lauren took us on a lights of St Augustine horse and buggy ride with wine. He was very personable and showed us a very nice ride around the area. He let us know a little about some of the area. It was a very nice time. Would definitely recommend
google avatar

Greysun L.

Yelp
My friends and I went on the Corks and Forks tasting tour for my belated birthday celebration. Niki was our tour guide and she was fantastic!! I was in awe of some of the places she took us and it was nice that she customized the tour to places we wanted to see! I noted that I liked olives and she took us to the cutest olive shop and we did some tastings there when it wasn't originally on our schedule. The tour was very interesting and had great food and wine. My girlfriends and I were all raving after the tour because it was the most fun we've had in awhile. I am definitely booking another the next time I'm in town. 10/10 stars! If you're considering it, just book it!

Stacy F.

Yelp
My family went on this tour and had a great time!! Laura took excellent care of us. I would definitely recommend the tour.

Sally H.

Yelp
I highly recommend taking a tour. They have many different options to choose from. Chauffeured or walking. Our guide Bonny was so kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed every stop. I definitely will be taking another tour in the future!

Yelp
We did a corks and forks strolling tour in St Augustine last night as the last night of our 35th anniversary trip. It was a lot of fun and included much good wine and good food. Nikki was our guide and she made the evening very enjoyable. There were a total of 11 people- a group of 6 from Louisiana, 3 girlfriends and us. Everyone seemed to have a good time. First stop was a Greek restaurant where the saganaki and gyro were the food highlights of the evening. A glass of red Greek wine came with it. We then went to a gourmet olive oil and vinegar shop which I could have done without- got samples of these with nothing to put them on- while they came in interesting and different flavors drinking what amounts to salad dressing is not my idea of a good time. Should have at least had some bread to dip. After that we went to a wine shop where we each got 3 very generous pours of wine of our choice from about a dozen bottles as well as a shared charcuterie board. Wine was very good and we bought a bottle of vino verde from Portugal for 20% off. Next was a stop where we got a small plate of mashed potatoes with grilled mahi mahi and a glass of Chardonnay. Finally dessert was at a cafe where we had individual raspberry cheesecakes - good- with a glass of red. Nikki took photos at several spots. Would have been 5 stars if a different spot was subbed for the olive oil vinegar experience!

Yelp
Night of Lights Wine & Carriage Ride was awesome. St. Augustine is a perfect place to do this. It's so small, charming, and historical and not as busy or metropolitan like Charleston or Philadelphia. I also did some research on how the horses are treated. They use retired Amish horses from Ohio and have strict rules about their treatment. Joe, our driver, said the daily needs of the horses are taken care of by the stable. All the drivers groom and tack the horses themselves and they truly seem to love their horses. Joe and Doc drove us through the quaint town highlighting several spots and at one stop, a shop owner came out with treats for Doc. It was a lovely experience. We did it for the wine but it wasn't necessary. Although the souvenir glass will be a nice reminder of our excellent experience.

Jon A.

Yelp
Rachel was absolutely AWESOME!!! The places she chose to visit was phenomenal! Top notch food for our foodie group, international array of wines, and finished with a great cocktail at a great live music bar! Great tour! Definitely a "be-back"!!!!

Michelle W.

Yelp
The Very Un-Merry GrinchMas Ride was so fun. We could not stop laughing and The Grinch was so realistic and made everyone we encountered in St. Augustine laugh. Not to mention the awesome tour of "Nights of Lights." The golf cart can get into many areas and streets the trolleys cannot so we saw and experienced so much more. We cannot wait to book again next year! They have several character rides and experiences to chose from. The meet up location is convenient and located right next to a popular dessert and coffee shop. It was a great place to hang out and enjoy before and after our tour. Get there early to find a place to park. We did get a spot in the parking garage and ate dinner before our tour right around the corner from the tour meet up location. Overall, it was a fantastic experience to celebrate the holidays in St. Augustine.
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
If you're in St Augustine this tour is the way to get you feet wet with the local food scene. The guide is knowledgeable and we had some good food and wine. We would definitely do this again.

Marcia T.

Yelp
We took a Melody carolling tour. The carols were a tape of recorded Christmas songs. The guide did not give much of a tour nor did she amp up the group to sing. There was no microphone so she turned around to speak to us WHILE DRIVING. It was a cold night and blankets were not provided. Could have done this in comfort in my car with Christmas carols playing. Sorry chose this one.

John Mark T.

Yelp
We have been to St. Augustine numerous times over the years but this was our first time doing The Tasting Tours and it WON'T be our last! Jessica was our tour guide and so much fun and knowledgeable about the history. We went to places we had never been to before and each food item and drink was phenomenal! My husband and I booked this for his mom's 79th birthday and she is still thanking us weeks later for our day. Don't think twice about booking - you won't regret it. It was one of the best days for us and we made new friends too. We look forward to our next trip with The Tasting Tours!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
What a RIOT we had buzzing through the streets with Scrooge to tour the Nights of Lights in St. Augustine. Scrooge gave us an adventure we'll never forget (and some innocent people on the streets are surely talking about his antics as we zipped by)! Tip: sit forward facing so you can see all the shenanigans unfold...we were rear facing and couldn't see as much.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
We had a FABULOUS time with the Grinch on our tour Dec. 23rd. Scott Cushnie was great! We laughed the entire way! Will definitely go again!
google avatar

Marion M.

Yelp
This was an amazing Christmas experience we now make part of an annual event to visit St. Augustine. Last evening's tour was the best yet with Christine and our fab horse Norman. Christine was knowledgeable and took every effort to make our tour special. The wine was great and recommend this for everyone!
google avatar

Beverly W.

Yelp
It was a delightful evening! Ginger, our Tour leader was knowledgeable and chose really good out of the ordinary restaurants! There was a wide range of culinary variety! The thing that made Ginger so special is that she arranged to move the time of the tour and coordinate with the restaurants to avoid a terrible rain storm! She saved the evening and it could not have been more enjoyable!

Donna C.

Yelp
We had a great tour. Great food. Great stories. Great sights. We all loved Wendy. Will do it again.
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
Thank you for an awesome, private, hilarious grinch tour. Our families couldn't have enjoyed it more!
