The Taybank Terrace in Dunkeld is an absolute treasure, and it’s no wonder my partner and I keep coming back. Nestled across from the main hotel, right by the River Tay, this outdoor haven offers a setting that’s hard to beat.
The location is simply breathtaking. With panoramic views of the River Tay and the iconic Dunkeld Bridge, it’s a picture-perfect spot, especially on sunny days when the scenery sparkles. The terrace is thoughtfully laid out, with a spacious bar to the left as you enter and seating areas that stretch down toward the river. The lower section lets you sit practically beside the water – it’s magical.
There’s also a charming food hut serving delicious options like pizzas and chips with pulled beef, ideal for sharing or snacking. For those unpredictable Scottish days, the terrace has tipis providing shelter from sun or rain, making it a practical choice too.
The food, while slightly on the pricier side, is well worth it. The menu is varied, with tasty options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike, ensuring everyone leaves satisfied. The atmosphere is another highlight – a lively mix of couples, families, and groups of friends creates a welcoming vibe. Dog owners will love that their furry companions are welcome, adding to the relaxed charm. I’ve visited as a couple, with my kids, and even with family from England, and every time it’s been a hit across generations.
Service can be a tad slow on busy days, but with such a stunning view and great company, it’s hardly a bother. The staff are consistently friendly and attentive, which adds to the overall experience.
Whether you’re after a romantic outing, a family day, or a casual catch-up with friends, The Taybank Terrace delivers. It’s a must-visit in Dunkeld, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
