"An unmarked door in Honolulu's Chinatown—between Bar 35 and Nextdoor—leads to this second-story watering hole. The name derives from the Chinese toast qing-qing (please-please), inviting guests to pull up a chair and stay a while. The booths, long bar, and rooftop patio make it easy, as do the excellent wine list and artisanal cocktails. Fancy a nibble while you sip? Snuggle into a white sofa underneath strings of Edison bulbs and dig into a Stinky Grilled Cheese (redolent with Taleggio and onion marmalade). Or choose among small plates drawing on French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Moroccan influences."

Google
Awesome Rooftop/Upstairs bar. The vibe and ambiance were great, really liked that part of the place. Good beer selection, no draft beers, but good canned selection and nice cocktail menu. Only had the oysters, they were too big/meaty for my taste.

We’ve been twice and the drinks were fine both times, but the state of cleanliness in and around the bar was concerning. The biggest concern was seeing a bottle of WD40 on the same shelf as glasses and beverages BOTH times we visited - as someone that has worked in the food industry, if this is what they allow to be seen in public as a blatant health code violation, it’s worrisome what exists out of site. Additionally, there were maintenance things in the bathrooms and around the bar that have seemed to be neglected and overall just give the impression that that management does not actually care about cleanliness, presentation, nor health code.

Google
Amazing ambiance, but it’s like they were paid to ignore me. Didn’t try the food so I can’t knock it. Wish I was savage enough not to tip.

Google
It was so so. The Tchin gin cocktail was really good, the shrimp with the house cocktail sauce decent and I had a tequila shot for $5 on taco Tuesday. There was no one else besides me in the bar area. I had expected more for 3 jumbo shrimps and a couple of drinks for $40

Everyone was SO nice in here. It wasn’t too busy… just a few people at the bar and a completely open patio (that is so cute by the way). We sat on the patio and ordered some snacks. Food was amazing. Would get both the fries and hamachi crudo again which had popping flavors. The oyster shooters were my favorite though. 3 oysters with mezcal bloody mary shots. Like does it get better than that?!

Google
Great drinks and atmosphere. The bartenders were so welcoming and attentive. A little pricey, but it is China town. Parking a couple a blocks away, but too easy. Come early about 4pm to beat the crowd or just get a reservation. Nice cheese platter, oysters, and shrimp for snacking with a good whiskey or champagne. Great for date night!!

Google
Great atmosphere with a lounge feel in the bar area and covered outdoor seating on the patio. Extensive drink menu and great value, especially with the shot+beer options. Service was top-notch, always checking in.

Google
Great cocktail bar with an inside and an outdoor open rooftop area. Excellent drinks menu, perfectly crafted cocktails, and great service. Full food menu available too. Same owner as Livestock Tavern next door.

Yelp
The Tchin Tchin Bar is such a cute hole in the wall! I'm obsessed with their rooftop area. It's nice and cozy and perfect for a breezy night out. We ended up moving inside which was equally just as cozy. The design & furniture make it feel homey but in an elevated way. The vibes are more laidback, which is perfect for me...(I think my clubbing days are over )...and unique for Chinatown on a Friday night! Their bartenders were amazing and patient with our large group (even when we got a couple more drinks in us and were just shouting out orders.) I loved their charcuterie board and every drink I got I sipped until the cup was clean! I nibbled on a friend's fries which were also tasty and my boyfriend loved their Fish n Chips. I'd definitely come back on a night out with my girlfriends or for a romantic nightcap with my boyfriend.

Yelp
The company part was held here and I think it would not be fair to make a judgement based on the selected catered food. The drinks were good. Some of the baristas were nice. We had salmon, chicken with mash, roasted beef uncooked some parts. I think the food was ok, but again it's based on catered food.

Yelp
Came on a rainy early evening. Sat at the bar as the rain was impacting the seating outside. The staff was nice and they have a ton of drink and some food choices as well. Saw several groups of friends, some on dates, and many just enjoying the Saturday evening and visiting the local establishments. The bar is upstairs, climb the super steep stairs, and you are whisked into a really nice ambiance and atmosphere. Lots of different seating options like couches, bar stools, or tables outside or inside. Would definitely recommend for those wanting a chill place to hang with friends!

Yelp
Great Vibe - love the bar area & the lights. The outdoor patio is very chill. Service was kind and quick, the bartender is very informative. The chips and queso came right after our drinks. The queso was hot, would love more "chips" but ordering more isn't an issue. I would hang here all the time!

Yelp
This bar is unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you walk up the stairs, you find a modern and pretty atmosphere. The outdoor patio is surrounded by greenery and string lights, which makes the space so aesthetic. It's the perfect date night or girls night spot. We were only here for drinks, so I ordered An Old Fashioned Girl ($18). This was one of the strongest old fashioned I've ever had, which was nice. While the place and drinks were nice, it wasn't anything special either.

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday night. We had to climb stairs to get inside but once up, it's a very nice place to be. Felt low key, and very comfortable seating. We ordered our drinks, and it was brought to us fairly quickly. However, after ordering a few more, we realized that the size our drinks came in weren't consistent, along with the taste of the drinks. When we got the bill, they charged us the same price, so we were a bit irritated. Anyway, it's a nice place here, but honestly, the drinks aren't worth it.

Yelp
Tchin Tchin has been a tried and true bar that I always recommend when I'm Chinatown. It's honestly been a spot friends and I frequent since we were in college. Located upstairs, it's a hidden oasis above all the other bars around the area. The drinks are reasonably priced and the vibes are immaculate. The last time I went, as the DD, their mocktails were about $5! For my friends who do dribk, they're pretty generous with the alchy.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Very aesthetic and modern inside ! High ceiling and great drinks has lots of other fun places around too in case you wanna keep going once it closes

Yelp
Great place to grab a great drink downtown. Delicious cocktails and nice staff. Enjoyed the nice atmosphere. It's a nice hidden spot downtown.

Yelp
The perfect Tuesday night bar. As the restaurants across the street are packed with people, this place is a haven of respite. Fear not, for neither the two alternate guests nor the bartender seem to be fans of small talk; this is the perfect location for those of us with a writers soul and a distaste for uncouth social interactions. (Four stars because the lights could be a tad dimmer, and the chairs are annoying but I guess the bartender should be allowed to see while he works )
google avatar

Bernie R.

Yelp
The only reason I've given them 3 out of 5 is that the last 2 times I went, they had at least 2 bourbon choices on the menu that they were out of on a Friday night well before the busy hour--like 6:30 pm. This place is a pretty good hangout. One of our regular spots. Chill spot for right after work but gets pretty busy late into a Friday night.

Yelp
Tchin Tchin is a place that I always stop by when I am looking for a cocktail in Chinatown. It is a laid back wine/cocktail bar, definitely one of the more sophisticated and classy establishments in Chinatown and they have a great outdoor area. There is usually space open, even if it is a weekend, so no reservations necessary unless you have a really large group. Definitely worth checking out Tchin Tchin.

Yelp
Tchin Tchin has a really cute location. We love a little rooftop bar! It has an indoors section with big, comfy couches, a very long rustic bar, and a cute outdoor patio with lots of foliage and regular tables as well as a couple of couches/conversation seating for larger parties. It's so modern and cozy and I always love the idea of going to Tchin Tchin. I always say yes to going to this bar but almost always leave disappointed. I keep going back for the atmosphere and in hopes that the staff and menu are better. My most recent visit I went with a larger group of friends and was sat outside on the patio on the cute couches. There were a couple of groups inside and a couple of other tables outside. There were two people behind the bar and two servers. It took our server a while before they finally got to us. We ordered drinks and only half of them came out which we also waited a long time for, then the second half of our drinks came out slowly afterwards. After we got the last of our drinks we ordered our second round already because if it was going to take that long we knew we would want another round by then. We also ordered some food, light snacks with our second round of drinks. The food came out at a timely manner which was great but was COLD. We ordered fries and they were cold when we got them, it was gross. So we sent them back and then it too a while to get a 'fresh' order which was then only maybe warm when we received them? It was strange. And the second round of drinks we got was partially wrong. It just seems a little chaotic and unorganized for such a mild bar? It didn't make sense to me why everything happened the way it did considering it wasn't busy.

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriend and some friends for some drinks. We ordered beers and some cocktails that were priced very fairly considering being in Hawaii. I really liked the outdoor patio area of the bar. The ambiance is really on point with the lighting, plants, and overall aesthetics of the place. You can tell this place gets really busy and if seems like a lot of tourists come to this bar. Definitely enjoyed the hip hop and r&b music being played too!

Yelp
Wide selection of foods and drinks! One of my favorite places to go downtown - especially on a Friday night after a long week! This place has a very modern ambiance, the service is fast, and the workers are always very attentive and efficient.

Yelp
1st time back since before Covid. Still nice floral wall layout is a little different. Made my res via email and they responded very quickly. Loved that. But 3 of 9 of us showed up first and they had split the party into 2 tables. Asked if we could join them and they said they don't like to do that. I'm not sure why since COVID no longer restricts party size, and the parties on the couch had about the same count. They switched our tables so we would instead have the 2 that were decently close to each other. Would have gone somewhere else had I known we'd be segregated, but we made do. I had Titos so nothing special but $5 extra to make it a double. Um, yes please and make it in a short glass. Perfect. Asked for lemon, and of course, got a lime. But they brought me a bunch of lemon replacements and it was correct every drink after. Few people got the St George Gin flights, the wine flight, aviations, a Karen, a shot with beer, and some beers. Everyone seemed pretty happy. The aviation was super pretty. Food menu is small. Jumbo shrimp - They were pretty jumbo, but only 3. Sitting on ogo. I'm guessing most people don't eat the ogo since they tried to take it away before we could grab all of it. French dip - Thought would be manini but actually good size and came with fries. Probably the best deal on the menu. I thought that meat was super tasty, but could be borderline too salty for some. Fries - we also ordered 2 fries not knowing the dip came with fries Stanky Grilled Cheese - does not come with fries. Everyone liked it but there was something sweet that I did not like. And I didn't think the cheese was stinky kine. Oysters - I don't do oysters, so can't judge that it got pounded quick. Charcuterie - Was ok. Nothing special. I know there were tartines but I think that may have arrived when I made my way to the other table.

Yelp
Love this spot. It's super dope and there's an outdoor area too. The vibes in here is red brick walls and old school like I feel I am in the Chinatown during the prohibition days in a speak easy bar setting. They have food here but this time we went just for drinks. They have a pretty impressive bar and variety of alcohol here.

Cherisse L.

Yelp
Based on a first-time experience after hearing all the hype from this place, it was just an above-OK experience. Was there friendly service and chill rooftop ambiance? Yes, definitely! Are we fans of the slow country music? Meh, not really our vibe. Did we enjoy our classic cocktails with our basic charcuterie board? Yea, it was fine. Would I go out of my way to find parking just to chill here? Probably not.

Yelp
I have been to Tchin Tchin bar a few times and the last time I visited earlier this year (2023). And usually everything is great and I loved the ambiance and the selection of wine and pupus. I was trying to order a bottle of red wine, and was told that our first choice was not available, and was offered an alternative. I declined the offer because I tried that wine before and it was just not my favorite. I then tried to order a different bottle off the menu, and was told that the bottle is out of stock, and from that moment on the bar will not be able to serve us any wines by the bottle. I was just confused if the bar did not have any full bottles available of if there was something about our interaction that made them refuse service to me. I only asked for two bottles off the menu. Me and my friends were still able to order some wines by the glass, and some food. I understand that sometimes certain bottles might be out of stock. The way I was spoken to made me feel unwelcome, and it was almost like the server thought I was trying to be snobby when that was not the case and I apologize if that's what they thought. Anyway, I emailed them directly expecting an explanation but it was never received which made me even more disappointed, and I unfortunately will not be back, neither will my friends who witnessed the interaction.

Yelp
This place is so cute! Went in for a quick bite, loved the atmosphere! Super chill, lots of plants and warm ambient lighting on the lanai dining area. The pretty brick walls outside blocked the wind perfectly, while still keeping the area fresh and just open enough. We got the hamachi crudo, stinky grilled cheese and a lovely charcuterie board. I asked our delightful server Juliana for a mocktail and her suggestion for a basil citrus spritzer was fantastic! I'm NEVER wowed by mocktails but this one was absolutely perfect! Even my friend who got a real cocktail absolutely loved it. We will be back again to try more delicious food and drinks! Shoutout to Juliana for the amazing service!

Yelp
I'm a geriatric millennial of the age 30 years and 7. If you are like me (chill vibes, low key date nights), come before 9 on a Saturday. More below. WINE FLIGHT: Delicious! Just for me, as I love a good red. And only $20! My favorite was the smooth Syrah. Followed by the Zinfandel and the Cab. FOOD: Marketed as sharable size, you'd be fine to get one as a meal. The food menu is short, but tasty. Shrimp pesto tartine was good, but oddly so. It had a bit of egg salad sandwich taste & texture, but upgraded with shrimp & pesto. Eh, we loved it!! It was 1 piece of ?sourdough? with the toppings. Could've easily been managed by 1 person. The stinky grilled cheese was my favorite. The sweet and savory onion marmalade, mmmhmm. It was clearly 1 sandwich cut into fourths and presented. Again, easily a meal for 1. We also got the fries, which were pretty good. We weren't hungry when we left, but not quite satisfied. It's essentially elevated bar food, like somewhere you'd stop to grab a quick drink before dinner. We'll know next time and will be back. AMBIANCE: Only been once, but the music changed so promptly and abruptly at 9:00 p.m. that it couldn't have been coincidence. When we arrived, the vibe was chill lounge. Especially with the couch seating outside. The host and wait staff were incredible! We were seated quickly and love the outdoor area on these warm Honolulu nights. The music was on point! Think Lupe-Fiasco-Childish-Gambino-esque. Laid back r&b. PERFECT!!! 9pm on the dot, it happened. We were transported back to any club in Vegas you've ever been to. Real fist-pumpy, night-club-y remixed 2000/10s pop hits over EDM beats. Perhaps it's the late night spot for local 20-somethings. But we could've stayed hours if the music hadn't changed. 9:20, we were over it and left, lol. Again, for sure would come back, just earlier in the afternoon :)

Yelp
Great ambiance! Loved the rooftop bar. Came on a Monday night and it was empty. They did close early that day but the service was great, the bartender came and tended to us right away. The outdoor patio had great lighting, and natural green plants on the walls which added to a great scenery, being mindful of the surrounding neighborhood.

Yelp
Visited Tchin Tchin during the holidays with 3 friends. We picked it because of outdoor lounge area with a modern ambiance and great ventilation and drinks and pupu menu. Pro's: Outdoor area, they take reservations, extensive wine and cocktail menu. Great place to hang out with a date or friends, not too loud so you can hear each other talking. Both indoor and outdoor tables available. The cocktails we ordered were delicious! Con's: Although located downtown the entrance is on Hotel St next to Bar 35. Recommend to get dropped off or definitely go with a group. There is a lot of homeless and criminals lurking the area surrounding this place. Very limited menu during this time (maybe 8 items) and prices are pretty high. I would recommend eating beforehand or you might get hungry. We ordered everything on the menu and 2x some of the items. Expect to pay $12-15 per drink. There was Hamachi carpaccio, charcuterie board, shrimp cocktail, oysters, truffle fries, grilled cheese, and king crab legs on the menu. Sorry! I forgot to get a pic of it. Overall I'm grateful that they are still open and am hoping with more business they can expand their menu again. Drinks were delicious it was a good place to meet up with friends and hang out beautiful outside area.

Yelp
Went here on a relatively slow night, but the service was very slow. Drinks were pricey and not great.

Yelp
I love the ambiance here, it felt quite upscale despite being located in Chinatown. Came here for a nightcap on a Saturday and it was surprisingly not too busy and we were able to be seated right way. Service was a little slow, we had to flag servers down several times even after majority of the customers had already cleared out. Other than that I enjoyed the overall experience here. All the bartenders & servers seemed to really know their cocktails and wines. Overall 8/10.

Yelp
The best bar we visited in Honolulu and there have been a few. Great atmosphere, great service and prices.

Yelp
Tchin Tchin is a fun spot in Chinatown. Service can be hit or miss, drinks and food are pretty good, but the atmosphere is the real reason to come. They have awesome outdoor seating and really nice, comfy lounge areas inside as well. It's one of the only hip places in town to dress up and have fancy drinks. Bruschetta was okay. Charcuterie board was okay. Their truffle fries are really good and so is the stinky grilled cheese.

Yelp
Great bar with an extensive whiskey selection. The old fashioned and Manhattan are excellent here. Definitely want to come back and next time try their food.

Yelp
I dropped by here w/ my friend to meet Nadine & Jules. Tchin Tchin is a speakeasy located at Hotel & Smith in Chinatown. There is no sign. You simply look for 39 Hotel, show your ID, and walk up a long flight of stairs. To your left is an indoor lounge area, directly ahead is the long bar, and there is also outside seating. Tchin Tchin is not a good place to meet peeps: Its better for date night or group get togethers based on my observations. The service was pretty good, but a bit odd at first. It took a while for one of the bartenders to acknowledge us, but after that she was cool. The other bartender poured us drinks, but forgot to give us water backs. We had to hound him down, but after that he performed well with the drinks. I would definitely come back to Tchin Tchin. There is a lot going on in DT Honolulu & Chinatown, similar to the revitalization in DTLA & its adjacent Chinatown.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to have our wedding reception here and it was literally perfect!! The food, the atmosphere, the staff, all 10/10 incredible! Plus the cocktails we chose for our signature drinks were SO yummy! We can't wait to come back to Tchin Tchin again to visit!!

Yelp
I've been to Tchin Tchin before and will concede it's a nice place. This review is based on a specific incident. I attempted to call the bar 5 times between 9:45pm - 10pm on Tuesday, May 11, to ask how long the wait would be for 2 people. Unfortunately, nobody answered any of my calls. Going off of the website's stated operating hours of Tuesday through Saturday 5pm - 12am, I ordered a car to the bar. We arrived around 10:10pm and were turned away without remorse. Wasted $30 to get there which could have been avoided by simply answering the phone.

Yelp
We have been to Tchin Tchin Bar a few times and thought it about time I did a review. Great spot in Chinatown, cool location but no street front sign, just steep flight of stairs leading to the upper floor. You have to be purposely going to to Tchin Thcin, not a place to stumble upon by accident. Once at the top of the stairs there is a long bar where I could sit and just gaze at their wonderful collection of Whiskies. A few couches in the bar area as well or you could head out into their rooftop area with additional seating. I think of it as an oasis, sitting outside you don't even realize you are in the middle of downtown Chinatown. Food: Not the largest of food selections available but enough to munch on while you enjoy the the large selection of wines, cocktails and spirits. I love that they have whiskey flights that are changed from time to time moving from scotch to irish to japanese and a combination. They also offer wine flights for those that wish to try a variety. All the food dishes we've tried have been very tasty with the Crab and Avocado Tartine being one of our favorites. Service: The staff have always treated us very well. Explaining various wine or whisky offerings if we had questions as well as making great recommendations. We love sitting at the bar and chatting with the bartenders especially when it's early and not crowded yet. Atmosphere: From the secretive entrance, the open air spaces, and the outdoor seating area it's a great place to hang out after work when waiting for the evening traffic to dissipate. I also really like looking in their bottle room housing a number of rare or hard to get spirits. Value: A bit on the pricey side but worth it for the atmosphere and quality of the drinks and food. Customers looking to keep tabs in check definitely have great options while those looking to try something a bit more exclusive will also be pleased. Overall: We enjoy visiting Tchin Tchin periodically to see the changes on the seasonal flights as well as menu updates. I highly recommend it to friends who have a bit of time to kill if they are going to a show in Downtown or want a great experience in Chinatown.

Yelp
Found by accident as we planned to go somewhere else but couldn't find it. Great wine selection and cocktails. Beautiful patio was lush plants.

Yelp
This bar is sooo good! The drinks are excellent! The service is always amazing! There is a rooftop! They're food is delish (shoutout to truffle fries!) but they stop serving food at 10pm (so go early). I got the "miss leading" drink. Cognac, lemon, grapefruit, and amaro! Omg it's my new favorite for sure!! I had some friends visiting and the backdrop on the rooftop is super excellent for a great "I was in Hawaii and had an amazing drink" picture. Also they're happy hour and wine flights are BOMB!

Yelp
Walked in last night and there was a 45 minute wait, which was understandable given it being a Saturday night. We patiently waited for our table and arrived back up the stairs when notified that our table was ready. As we ascended the stairs, a group of 3 in front of us walked over to our table since no one was at the front. The manager, Kelsey, thought they were in our party to which we said no and let her handle the unfortunate situation. I did not see her approach the table but she did come back saying, "they were aggressive when I told them to leave so let's have you guys wait for another table to get up and leave." We stood there awkwardly for an additional 10 minutes as she handed us menus right at the entrance of the bar to appease us. Finally got a table (comically next to the party of 3 that sat at our original table). We voiced our dissatisfaction to both the manager and the three men who selfishly took our table. The men were confused as they were never asked to leave, and weren't even informed that they had taken an entire party's table. They even offered to give up the table due to their mistake. At this moment, Kelsey, trying to save face, ran up to us and immediately and told us to leave as we were not going to be helped due to the incident caused by none but herself. Funny, as it was easy for her to kick us out, but was not able to with the gentlemen that took our table we patiently waited 45 minutes for. Thanks for this comical and memorable situation. Truly pathetic customer service.

Yelp
This bar is a hidden gem in Chinatown. The entrance is just a door with stairs leading strait up. Once you get upstairs, the entire vibe changes. There are tables all around and the first thing you see is the bar. We chose to sit outside and I'm so glad that we did. It is a rooftop lounge, there are couches as well as regular dining seats. I ordered the Prosecco with the cheese plate and I'm so glad I did! My favorite part was the bread with the mustard seed combo. They also had figs and everything went well together. I'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
Seating and Atmosphere We sat outdoors on the sofa with the beautiful photo wall and open view fronting us. Very nice atmosphere! The Food and Drink Understandably, many of the food options are not being served as before but we still ate a lot, photos below. We drank wine, loved the cosmo and a suggested French 85. These guys don't mess around, there was none of that skimping or watered down stuff. And another convenience on the food, you can increase the 3 portioned appetizer to your party size-- there were four of us. Service and Would We Return? ABSOLUTELY to the sofa and hoping to have the same great fast attentive service by Kayla and Mr Bartender (I forgot his name lol) who was an expert with his drink suggestions. Parking Public lots and metered parking is free after 6pm on weekends. Not sure about week nights. But we had the best parking which we found out as we were leaving through the back that it lead right into our parking lot which was $3/hour.

Yelp
The food was not bad at all. We ordered the Cajun shrimp, the truffle fries, and the crab & avocado. I drank the Gulden Draak Beer. That beer was very fruity and vibrant tasting. The service wasn't too bad at all. But the food took a while to come to us. But it's understandable since they share the kitchen of Livestock restaurant which is downstairs of Tchin Tchin Bar. The atmosphere of the bar was really chill and relaxing too. I would go back again.

Yelp
Tucked away on the 2nd floor, The Tchin-Tchin Bar can be a bit hard to find. The atmosphere feels exciting as if one can expect something to happen. The brick wall in the large bar area with booths makes it ideal for couples or friends to hang around while the patio allows for a larger groups to meet. The menu mainly offers a wide variety of drinks. The Tchin-Tchin bar offers small portions of food. Food items tend to be a bit over priced if you ask me. When we came here we waited for a couple of our friends. After they came, we had some drinks. The servers come often to refill our water glasses. We then decided to go to another place to eat as the menu items remain limited. Good to come after work or just to meet with friends.

Yelp
Loved this little speakeasy hidden Honolulu gem! We went early on a Saturday night to grab a drink before dinner. I love the feel of the bar area and the outdoor space. There is no sign, you just go. The bartender was helpful and all smiles. We grabbed a paprika shrimp plate to split but it only had 3 shrimp, which was awkward with 4 people. Anyway, I'll definitely be back. The overall ambiance was amazing and I'm a total sucker for a rooftop bar.

Yelp
I love this place. There's a good array of drinks, the charcuterie board and truffle fries are delicious, and the service is great. I really enjoy sitting on the patio surrounded by plants, and there's lots of parking nearby.

Yelp
Next to Bar 35 up a flight a stairs, this cool hideaway is a great bar with tasty bites. Nice ambiance, I would encourage making a reservation if you have a larger group. It does get louder as it fills in. There is a nice outdoor roof top deck area. Tried the truffle fries $10 that came with an aioli and fresh minced garlic. Great flavor and I couldn't stop eating these. Fried shishito peppers $8 came with anchovies and had some heat to these, or at least the two I had. Seasonal Artisan cheese board $18 and house charcuterie board $18 were nice options for shared plates with wine. Really enjoyed the prosciutto and melon $12. Six pieces, the balsamic vinaigrette was a perfect touch. Shrooms and snails (escargot) $16 came with french bread. Tasty bite. Stinky grilled cheese with onion marmalade $12. It was tasty, I enjoyed the mix of savory and sweet from the onion marmalade. Nice place to start the evening with drinks and pupus. Service was prompt and nice. Our server came around regularly to check on us. There was an order of burrata that never made it to the table and when the bill came, they quickly removed it with their apologies.

Yelp
#14 of 2018 If you're looking for a place to chill before, or after, something you got planned, with friends or a date, this is probably one of your better casual options. Very rustic feel as you go up the stairs into a dimly lit lounge\bar area filled with old looking paintings, maybe left over from the previous biz. Place can get busy enough you may not get immediate service until you pop yourself somewhere. The bar is a good start but the patio area, outside on the roof is where it's happening. Small tables and big tables to fit your party size. Service is friendly and nice. Appetizers are a little pricey. Brought our visiting islanders here before we dined. We did manage to sit out in the lanai. You would think it wouldn't be that loud. Unfortunately place was packed to the gill with 2 parties taking place on the opposite side. It was really loud. However, we still had a good time enjoying drinks from their selections. I liked the Thistly Cross Cider, an excellent choice to my sweet cravings. Would love to have that again. I would come back here again hoping it wouldn't be loud. It has a nice enjoyable, relaxing ambiance I liked. Perfect for social friend gatherings or date night.

Yelp
With its comfortable patio lounge setup, strung up lights, and a large living wall, the Tchin Tchin Bar reminds me of one of a plethora of LA hangouts minus a scene. It's got nice laidback vibes, and if I were ever to live in Hawaii, I'd come here if I needed a reminder of home!

Yelp
Dang....what happened? Since my initial review, and I believe they weren't opened that long, I came in on a Friday and Saturday night and....meh....yeah, meh. I mean, the bartenders did not show the kind of aloha spirit I experienced during my first visit. The two female bartenders I encountered were not rude, just not genuinely friendly. Excuse me but I'm going to throw the, "just cause you're a bartender here, doesn't mean you're cool" card. Anyone can be a bartender, but what sets you apart is your personality. And speaking of which, the male bartender I think was trying to use sarcasm to be funny, but it came off as arrogance....again, see card above. I may give them another chance this summer, but I didn't leave with the, "I can't wait to come back" feeling, and that's pretty sad.

Yelp
I used to love coming here. The overall ambiance of this place is amazing. Cozy inside and very "plant parent" on the outside. I came here post pandemic with some friends and PHEW, they raised their prices and I believe their portioning got smaller. I wasn't a fan on the lack of attention our table got. We had finished our appetizers, wine, and water and were sitting for a bit until we were able to flag down someone. Now, the kicker .. I know. I know. It's Chinatown. It's not the cleanest place in Honolulu but ... there was a rat that decided to climb on the string lights above the outdoor seating and run from one end to the other. I caught it out of the corner of my eye and so did my dinner table. *screams* from all around. The waitress came back and said "he's always here. Every night. Cmon, it's Chinatown" She was not phased at all and just carried on walking around and bussing tables. Maybe let's work on not telling the guests that the rat is a resident of the establishment. ?

Yelp
Nice place for drinks, with good ambiance (both inside and on the patio). Great place for pau hana or an after-dinner date.

Yelp
What once used to be Thirtynine Hotel has now been revolutionized to The Tchin Tchin Bar located next door to Bar 35. Look for the flight of stairs going up for the entrance to Tchin Tchin. Don't walk too fast or you might pass it. The name is quite unique and translates to welcome or come in. The décor of Tchin Tchin is very similar to Livestock tavern with the brick walls and high ceilings. The atmosphere is very exciting, hipster, and warming with the option to either sit inside or outside under the evening stars. There are lots of seats at the bar or table seating within. The patio is ideal for large groups I prefer to sit at the outside patio on one of the comfortable sofas when the weather is clear. . They boast an extensive selection of wines from old to new world. You can get them in 2oz or 6oz pours. If you really like the wine you can purchase the bottle while you dine there. All of servers are knowledgeable and are awesome at making suggestions. Samples are given if you are not quite sure. There are cocktails and a selection of beers as an alternative option if wine is not your drink. Tchin Tchin is owned by the same owners as Livestock. The pupus here are as fantastic as the food there since all the food is prepared at Livestock. Tchin Tchin is a place you should checkout if you are in the area.
