Our family’s all time favorite place to go! The service is always impeccable. The food is stunning, flavorful, fresh and always hits the right spot. I really don’t know how they do it each and every time. My go to dishes: smoked salmon benny, mushroom cheddar burger, mangled eggs. My partner’s favorites: bbb burger, buttermilk pancakes full combo (always ask for their house made whipped cream, trust me you’ll love it). Guys, you are a legend, stay the same you are! 🥇

Neat little spot nestled in what is probably a lively area on Granville Street come evening. Nostalgic rock and roll diner feel. Food is good, place is reasonably clean and staff are friendly. A little more attentiveness to coffee warm ups would be nice but otherwise a good deal for breakfast. Rosemary potatoes are delicious. Have the Truckers special. They also have daily specials pisted on the chalk board.

Google
Authentic diner atmosphere serving a great selection of food. I got the truckers breakfast and my friend got the keto breakfast. Both were excellent. Went again this week and had their pulled pork egg Benny which was also good

This place is a historic monument in this city! The retro vibes here makes the atmosphere so great! The food was also really great! The mushroom burger I HIGHLY recommend definitely the best thing on the menu! I got the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and I thought it was good, but the salmon had a really fishy taste to it so I couldn’t eat all of it. Unfortunately did have to mask that taste with hot sauce. Apart from the salmon everything else was great! The fries and taters were crisped perfectly and was delicious! Pricing was great as well! Overall definitely a must try!

We went for breakfast right when they opened on a Saturday. It has a small amount of seating so I am happy we were there early. The service was great. We got the classic eggs be, mimosa, Bailey's coffee and huevos rancheros. It was great. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good quick and not expensive breakfast option.

Google
Fantastic! It is usually a good sign when the restaurant is packed and it definitely did not disappoint. The servers were all lovely and provided great service - responsive and attentive without hovering. Food was fantastic! Very fresh ingredients with options for all tastes in my group. Very reasonable price for the portions provided -- none of us left hungry. Highly recommend and would definitely dine here again!

The food was tolerable, nothing I’d bother to go back for more of though. Furthermore it took wayyy too long for the food to arrive. After a while the waitress even came by to reassure me it should come out in 10mins or so (it took longer). Ingredients aren’t high quality. The ambience was definitely lacking - it’s cool that they maintain some old-school diner elements, but ultimately it was dark and cold and somewhat messy on the staff side of the counter. Not the kind of place I’d want to return to, but oh well.

Google
No gluten free options here We came thinking there were options due to one comment , but no gluten free bread. Anyway, the rest we ate a avocado toast with eggs, in general, all good if you do not have food restricciones

Yelp
Really solid breakfast spot in downtown Vancouver's entertainment district. We all enjoyed our food, service was excellent, and the retro diner vibes will have you feeling like you've stepped back in time - the antique comic strips embedded in the tabletops and the jukeboxes on the tables really drive the theme home! My son ordered the Farmer's Breakfast Hash which is scrambled eggs and cheese on top of potatoes and veggies - he loved it - cleaned his plate almost immediately. My hubby ordered the Mangled Eggs which is scrambled eggs mixed with garlic, Brie and choice of meat served in a toasted croissant. It looked delicious and hubby said it was fantastic. I got the Pulled Pork Benny - a variation of eggs Benedict with, you guessed it, their homemade pulled pork - it was divine! My eggs were perfectly poached and their hollandaise sauce was more like a cheese sauce but I think that's how they mean it to be bc of the bbq. It was lovely. We all had coffee which was delicious and their portions of everything very generous. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices were decent considering the location - central downtown on Granville Row - we could see the diner from our hotel room. Very walkable. But keep your wits about you bc the area can be a little sketchy - especially in the wee hours. We walked so I can't speak to the parking.

Yelp
Old School Diner in the heart of Vancouver's entertainment district on Granville Row. We ordered: Classic Benny $15.99 Truckers Breakfast $13.99 (2 eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage or veggie bacon. Side of rosemary potatoes and white, sourdough or whole wheat toast.) Espresso Milkshake $6.99 Orange Juice $3.75 The star of the meal was the milkshake and then the fries. Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 3/5 (it was a bit bland and oily)

Yelp
If you walked by this place...you'd probably miss the fact that it's a breakfast diner. Until you see that it's packed inside and there's a line up outside. We sat at the diner counter for some Sunday mornin' breaky. I gotta tell ya....the vibe and energy of the place is so cozy, so endearing, so laid back and so comfortably charming that I realized this is not only what I was craving but what I needed. Ok...the Food.... The Truckers Breakfast & The Big Ass Breakfast. We asked for extra crispy bacon and dry toast. We got exactly what we asked for. You might think...well...yeah if you asked for it it's a no-brainer. Ok...let me tell you....I've been at places where they got my order wrong and there were only two other tables. This place was packed and people waiting outside and they get details down. Says a lot. Everything on the plates were super fresh. An egg tastes like an egg, right? Well....their eggs I don't know....they might have a hen bin back there...that's how fresh it was. The bacon...super crispy without the grease. The rosemary potatoes also fresh without the grease and finished with a lovely rosemary end. The pancakes. Ok....let me tell you about the pancakes..... The guy next to us said, "I come here cuz they have the best pancakes." He was right. Oh....and they have pie! I mean....coffee and a slice of pie at the diner counter. How cute is that? That's shit you only see in the movies!

Yelp
TL:DNR - Wonderful breakfast spot! Service was good. Food was wonderful and not overly salty. Ambience was casual. Ambience: They have a long bar and about 6 booths on one side, one table but the window, and a cute little jukebox in the corner. It feels very old school diner. The colors are minty and bright. The servers are friendly. The noise levels are comfortable. You can hear your friends, but not necessarily the tables or people next to you. Service: There was one couple in front of us that was waiting for a booth. My friend and I were next and we were fine with the counter - and they seated the people behind us at the counter next to us. The only annoying thing was that they got serviced before us, even though they got in line after us a good ten or so minutes later and we were seated before them. If we had waited a substantially longer time for our food, i would have been miffed. But!! The food came out super quick. For a Sunday, I think we waited maybe 10 minutes for our food to come out. The kitchen is very efficient. Our server was also very good about refilling coffees and water. (Could be a perk of bar seating.) Food: My friend and i got regular coffees and eggs bennies (my favorite). I got a salmon one and my friend got the ham?? (I forgot, honestly) and they were pretty standard fare. I'll tell you, i did not expect the hollandaise sauce to be so vibrant, but it was creamy and rich. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Seasoned with rosemary and other stuff. Not super salty, either, which i love! I wish they had tapatío hot sauce (but i think that's a very regional type of hot sauce and now I'm just being picky for no reason). Overall, everything was wonderful and I can see why it got so many positive reviews. I would highly recommend trying.

Yelp
I had the Mangled Eggs; they were delusions as the scrambled eggs and bacon mixed well with the croissant--also, the potatoes were not that bad. The service was quick and friendly, even ith most of the tables filled. The ambiance is a 1950s dinner with modern rock playing in the background. If you need a quick meal this is the place to be.

Yelp
Found this place on another "best of" list. The wait was about 20 minutes to get in, it's a small place, but the hostess kept us up to date on the wait time constantly, which was great. It was a nice day, so we didn't mind. The menu isn't huge, which is great, as everything is made fresh. We ordered the Big Ass Breakfast, but let me tell you, it really wasn't that big. I've had much bigger breakfasts at places that didn't even describe it as big. Stingy on the toast... 3 eggs, only one piece of toast. Mimosas were good. I didn't enjoy having to walk through the kitchen to access the toilet. Nothing about it would make this a repeat stop on a future trip.

Yelp
A good neighborhoods spot with a old school diner vibe. Simple breakfast items that hit the spot for when you want a classic brunch! Nothing over the top, just good brunch vibes

Madilyn L.

Yelp
Came here craving some pancakes. Very interesting and history place - dating back to early 1900. Retro diner style - fun place to hang out and grab breakfast with friends. The pancakes were good. I liked the sourdough toast. Other things were ok, but overall a good experience.

Yelp
Nice staff, great food, and friendly atmosphere. Love that we got to eat where Shawn and his dad ate in the pilot of psych!

Yelp
Great food, great service, great ambiance. I had the huevos rancheros and it was very good.

Yelp
I was in Vancouver for the day and discovered this little jewel. It's not very big, and there was a line. But, worth it. The service and food was great. Highly recommended!

Jack J.

Yelp
I understand that sometimes when a restaurant is located in busy or less than desirable areas they can tend to be bad, and this place is bad, terrible ambience and lower grade of food and food preparation, some places just should be in business and it's not like it's pricing is great, its actually bit high for what you getting, even the coffee was terrible, sorry to be so hard but people and or visitors need to know

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday evening and had a pretty chill nice experience! My waitress, Tessa was very friendly and responsive and gave a great recommendation of the chicken caesar salad. Now, I LOVE a ceasar salad and this one was quite delicious. I like the diner aesthetic and the music was also quite fun. She even made me an unsweetened ice tea! Would recommend.

Yelp
We had a decent brunch at the Templeton. They were busy so we had to wait in line outside but we didn't have to wait long. The food was OK as was my cocktail. The French toast was split between my kids and my wife and I had breakfast items. My huevos rancheros was a decent size but wasn't out of this world. I'd probably come back for lunch as I feel that part of the menu may be better aa well as I'd love to try some of the ice cream offerings.

Yelp
Why? Over priced, underwhelming. Friendly but unwelcoming server. Still the same meh since I was here 10 years ago. There are better places nearby. I don't get it.

Yelp
Cool little place, food was tasty and the service was great. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
We ate breakfast at Templeton two of the three mornings in Vancouver. Our party tried and enjoyed the Mangled Breakfast, Western Omelette, Truckers Breakfast and the Pancakes. One of the mornings there were five or six homeless people sleeping on the block between our hotel and the Templeton.
google avatar

Sumbul M.

Yelp
My wait time was roughly 30 minutes, but it was well worth it. We ordered a veggie omelette, vegetable poached eggs, buttermilk pancakes, hot chocolate, and coffee. Everything was delicious, freshly prepared, fast, and beautifully retro. The meal was also super filling- to be honest, we didn't feel hungry until evening. The experience is perhaps one of Vancouver's top must-dos.

Ruben B.

Yelp
Very Good food and old school diner vibe. Music playing really cool too! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I never thought pulled pork could be paired with a sweet meal but oh my was I ever wrong. This was THE BEST pancakes ever!! So delicious, upgrade to the real maple syrup it's SO worth it. The interior is an old diner setting and it is ADORABLE! The service was great the food came out fast. This is the perfect brunch spot!
google avatar

Ken N.

Yelp
The place was busy so I hung by the entrance and then the lady behind the counter said seat wherever you want, they were cleaning a couple of empty booths so I said I'll take one of the booths, there were also a couple of empty bar stools and they said you can't seat on the booths if you are by yourself in a mean kinda way. I mean next time lead with that or put a sign, one of my few bad interactions in Vancouver, walked a few blocks and sat on a booth in a different dinner and ate breakfast withouth being profiled by a waitress like some criminal.

Person C.

Yelp
Amazing service and great burgers really nostalgic old school feeling. people were nice and we ended paying a generous tip to our waitress. Will definitely be coming back again.

Yelp
Awesome little diner! Had to line up outside and wait a little while to get in because it is a small little space with lots of people wanting to grab breakfast/brunch. But that's how you know it's legit! I got the Big Ass Breakfast which was a good combo to get if you are hungry and want a little bit of salty and sweet. Service was great. Good ambience with old school music to fit the interior / gave off good diner vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was sooooo cute and the food was very yummy!!! The waitresses were super sweet. They had great customer service and were very knowledgeable about the area. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely eating here.

Yelp
I stopped in the other night just before closing and they were nice enough to still make something for me. They do minimalist "classic" burgers that don't have a million toppings and sauces, but they are really high quality and taste great. I got their standard burger and enjoyed it, the meat was flavorful and had a nice, soft bun. Fries were great too - they definitely know how to make a burger here.

Yelp
Swung in for breakfast after a quick night in town. Diner was just the right type of place. Vibe was great, small and fun. Good food and plenty of options. Breakfast was great. Pancakes were thick and fluffy. Portion sizes were good. Service was a bit slow but they were busy and it was good enough to overlook. I'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting town.

Yelp
After walking by The Templeton many times and thinking "oh, we should go there sometime", my brunch buddy and I finally decided to give them a go. It was a Sunday, the diner was full when we got there, but we were first in line for the next table. The line grew behind us in the 20-minutes we were waiting. The space is cozy and definitely has a lived-in, rustic, diner feel, and the table side jukebox is so adorable - I wish I had a quarter on me to give a tune a go! Our waitperson was busy but friendly, checked in at the expected points (a few minutes after providing us menus, after drinks were brought, after our meals were served), and there wasn't delay with anything we ordered. I had the pull pork pancakes and my buddy had a tofu scramble. I thoroughly enjoyed my deconstructed meal - those pancakes were fluffy and so delicious, and the pull pork flavourful and not over seasoned! I'll be back for pancakes for sure! My buddy enjoyed their meal and raves about the breakfast potatoes that came with the tofu scramble. Ohh and our milkshakes were such a joy too! Don't come here if you want fancy anything. Come here for casual, relaxed, diner noms, and bring a smile.

Yelp
After reading the reviews from other Yelpers, I was very excited to eat here. But I have to say we were underwhelmed with our food. We came on a Friday around lunchtime and didn't wait for a table. Ordered the Keto plate, pulled pork Benny with a side of French toast and black beans, and shared the vegan poutine. The vegan poutine was the highlight of our meal and tasted the best, so I highly recommend this. Everything else was ok. The coffee also wasn't great. Service-wise, our servers were friendly and attentive. Overall, I'm glad we tried this place but I probably wouldn't come back.

Yelp
Was looking for a place for breakfast and saw the great reviews for this place so i decided to give it a shot. We arrived just before the rush and so we didn't need to wait but expect to wait outside for at least 15-20 minutes. Service Good service, food was a little slow but the milkshake and coffee came really quick. Waited around 20-25 minutes for our food and everyone around us who arrived later got theirs before ours. We weren't in a rush though so it's all good. Food The pricing of everything were pretty cheap compared to other places in Vancouver. Portions were pretty big as well, and we were definitely stuffed. However, i personally didn't find anything super outstanding other than the price about this place. Strawberry milkshake: My personal favourite. You would get around 2 cups of milkshake and it was super delicious. One of the highlights of the restaurant 4.5/5 Truckers breakfast: I chose the turkey sausages instead of bacon and i kind of regretted it as i didn't really like the sausage. The potatos were ok as well, i asked if i could substitute fruits for it and add the extra but they said no so that was kind of disappointing as i would have added more money as i didn't really like the home fries. The bread was ok but it's just sour dough toast. 3/5 Big ass breakfast: Pancakes were really good. I liked the bacon as well but other than that, it's the same as the truckers breakfast 3.5/5 Overall rating: 3/5 I think i would come again if i wanted something cheap and easy but i don't think it's necessarily worth the wait as it's definitely something not worth the hype. It also took some time for it to come out and i noticed when i was going to the bathroom that there's only 1 chef, so maybe that's why. One thing to note is that the kitchen looks really clean and the food looked fresh. Overall, i loved their milkshake and liked the food but i didn't find anything particularly wowing.
google avatar

Raj P.

Yelp
Great old school diner with amazing food and service. Highly recommend it. Might have to wait in line because it's really busy.
google avatar

W T.

Yelp
Food was good we had pulled pork eggs Benny. Issue we had was I said "we will both have the eggs Benny and can we get a side of sausage" about 15 mins later just one plate came out. We sat there waiting for another and it didn't arrive. We asked the young waitress about the other one and was replied "Awh it wasn't just one" she then asked "we'll do you just want to share that eat half each then we will bring another one" to which I replied with a no. Not something that you would want to do. We got both plates about 10 mins later which was fine and like I said food was good. There just wasn't really any proper apology or even an offer to take our coffee's off the check or anything. Was a young girl so don't want to be too harsh on her.
google avatar

Niah L.

Yelp
Food was okay. The diner was adorable. It's crazy because the bathroom is in the kitchen for customer use. Waitress accidentally spilled water all over me. Yet I wasn't upset, mistakes happen. I'd recommend for a quick breakfast.
google avatar

Ara M.

Yelp
Would not recommend due to the smell, most people where still waiting for there food due to Only having one cook. After using the restroom and seeing that the place was unsanitary, I actually left after my daughter had a shake. The shake was ok nothing special.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast diner experiences you could ask for in Vancouver. Service 4/5 -- As far as I've ever been at the Templeton I've only seen a second server working a handful of times. Usually one person runs the show in typical diner fashion, and they do normally do what they do quite well. You usually won't have to wait for service, but the drawback to doing things this way is, sometimes you do have to wait! Atmosphere 3/5 -- It's a divey diner. They hit the nail on the head, right down to the jukeboxes at the table. Going through the kitchen to get to the washroom is an extra touch of weird that while keeping with the vibe, isn't something I'm too fond of. Also the bathroom ranks slightly above porto-potty for comfort levels. Food 5/5 -- Really good, and affordable breakfast, with lots of choices, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. Can't really go wrong with the Templeton! Cleanliness 4/5 -- It's ALMOST there, just not quite. A little bit of stickiness here and there, unpolished cutlery. Close but no cigar. Overall 4/5 -- The Templeton is a classic and affordable diner breakfast experience in downtown Vancouver. It really is a go-to, and while you won't find anything particularly remarkable, they do what they do very well.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my wife. We both order the BBB Burger with fries and green salad, and chocolate milkshakes. Both the burger and milkshake taste great. The meat is soft and juicy. The salad is very fresh and the sauce is good. The fries is just so-so. Waitress is very nice and friendly. The seats are comfy.
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Anytime we travel, I'll look for local eats on Yelp. Not just high-end ones but the dives, diners or hole-in-the-wall that is endeared to its city. Small diner with booths or you can sit at the counter. Dan and I weren't choosy, so we sat at the counter. Service was quick. Dan chose the Big Ass Breakfast while I chose the Trucker's Breakfast. Casual, friendly, and strong coffee with good food = great service Overall: Service: Friendly and quick Price: Reasonable Ambiance: Casual Recommend: Highly Note: It's a popular spot that quickly fills up. If you prefer a booth, there will be a wait if they're busy (which they usually are)
google avatar

Jai D.

Yelp
This is a good spot to grab a burger and fries before a show on the Granville strip. Old timey diner with 6 booths and a counter. The few times I've been here staff have been super friendly. And prices are reasonable for today. I wouldn't say it is the best burger but solid. The pies are great and inexpensive. Lots of homemade options. I loved the pecan pie. The combination of burger, beer and then pie can't be beat.

SaraJasmin M.

Yelp
This place was such a great find ! This was walking distance from Hotel Moda where we stayed . Small diner vibes with a Canadian touch. I got the buttermilk pancakes and they were amazing. With so many options it's hard to decide but breakfast here is great if you're looking for comfort and nothing fancy. The staff is very friendly as well!
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Cute little retro diner spot. Excellent service! Not a place for big groups, but excellent for 4 or less. I stopped in for breakfast and had an omelette and coffee. Service was quick and efficient and food tasted great!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Update: they now have two vegan tofu scrambles (curry and texmex), which are basically the same dish, just with different seasonings. We ordered one of each for breakfast one Saturday morning ($11.50 each) and were quite satisfied. The flavours aren't complex and pretty dialed back, but with enough hot sauce and other accoutrements, it's pretty tasty. It comes with roasted potatoes (with rosemary -- yum) and choice of toasted (they have margarine/vegan butter). Super friendly service. Not the most exciting breakfast place, but for a no frills, cheap diner, they serve a pretty satisfying breakfast. Glad there's a place like this in town that caters to vegans, but I can't see myself eating her too often.
google avatar

Yelp
Diner in downtown Vancouver. Typical diner fair and hot fresh coffee. The farmer's breakfast is good and plenty. Go early or be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Good ol' eggs and potatoes with strong coffee to get ur day started. Also, great friendly staff. Would def go back to try the pancakes and boozy shakes!

Yelp
Ah where do I begin. EGGS BENNY hands down 10/10 Service--amazing. Mangled eggs was great, loved the potatoes even more. Super yummy mimosas and over all an incredible brunch.

Yelp
What an unexpected diner pleasure The Templeton is. I generally don't spend much time near this section of Granville, but I happened to be in the neighborhood after a long walk on a late weekend afternoon, in need of a good veggie burger. The space is small, but counter service was immediately available, and the wait for a booth was about 15 minutes, shown to us by down-to-earth, efficient, and pleasant staff. I was anticipating greasy spoon fare, and that can definitely be acquired here, but many of the menu items seem to have a thoughtful twist. There are vegetarian and vegan options, including a delicious veggie burger topped with fresh lettuce, ripe in-season tomato, and thinly sliced red onion. Fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With a Coke and tip, my meal came out to about $20, which is the way Vancouver rolls these days. The post weekend brunch can leave the place in a bit of chaos--lots of ketchup bottles being refilled, etc. I also wish that the vinyl on the booth seats could be reupholstered--it's not fun to slide across a partially ripped seat cover. Otherwise, it was a totally enjoyable meal!
google avatar

Lizzy K.

Yelp
Not just a nostalgic old fashion diner preserving a fun piece of Vancouver history, this joint has a line out the door for brunch and it's well worth the wait. I'm from the east coast and was eager to have as much local salmon as possible - breakfast, lunch, you name it! Delicious!
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
My hotel was just down the street and we were looking for a nearby brunch place, we decided on The Templeton based on the good reviews and the menu choices were exactly what we were in the mood for. We had about a 20 min wait on a crisp fall Sunday at around 10am. The place is small and the two servers were friendly and efficient. I had the Big Ass Breakfast and it hit the spot! Everything was perfect. I'm from the US and eggs in Canada taste a little different to me, so I asked for cheddar cheese on them, and they tasted exactly like home. Would definitely come back next time I'm in the area and want some good grub!
google avatar

Ryaire R.

Yelp
All around solid food and good service! Ordered omelet and French toast and was very satisfied. Wish there was still turkey sausage but hey...can't have it all all the time!!!
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
If you love diner food like I do then hit the Templeton the next time you're downtown. The Granville strip is still seedy as ever so don't be surprised if someone asks you for some spare change. This is just a normal part of being in Vancouver. The diner is super retro complete with a jukebox although it almost always seems to be broken. Cozy into a booth and enjoy the artwork ranging from retro post cards from Hawaii to comic books to airstreams. My go to order is the BLT with fries. You can also make it vegan. The burgers are delicious too. On my last visit I had the Templeton open face grilled cheese another winner. They are licensed so you can have a beer or a Caesar with your meal. The kid is a fan of the milkshakes. I tried the peanut butter one last time and it was . The breakfasts look delicious (I'm just not a breakfast person )but people appear to all be devouring them. Loads of veggie options here so everyone is welcome.

Yelp
Visiting Vancouver for the first time this week. Arrived early, so me and wifey decided on breakfast. Looking for something traditional, and that's exactly what we found. A little different, because we had to show proof of vaccinations just to be seated.....better to be safe than sorry, I guess!! Anyways, the food was prepared fresh, eggs where real cracked from the shell, bacon was nice and thick cooked like I wanted, crispy. The spot itself was so throwback, like a diner from back in the late 70's or early 80's.... Awesome little spot, with great food and nice laid back atmosphere. When in Vancouver, definitely try it out, you won't be disappointed.
