A truly unique and welcoming hostel experience! The staff at The Tent are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Despite the open and communal setup, everything is impressively clean and well-maintained. Perfect for budget travelers who value warmth, community, and cleanliness. I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND!

This hostel was so funny and a vibe. We were in Munich for Oktoberfest. It was me, my boyfriend, brother and brother in law. This hostel catered for all kinds of travellers on varied budgets. There was tents, bunk beds, log cabins or caravans! We stayed in a small caravan. It was hilarious. We had plug sockets, double bed and a small table and chairs outside. Lovely to watch the sunset. There is a bar at this venue. Also a fire in the evenings which is really good for socialising. Lovely atmosphere.

Very unfriendly staff Don’t stay here. It’s not worth staying at that price. Campfire has to be out at 1am. U can’t even whisper after 1am without a person saying aggressively like go somewhere else? I would go lower than 1 star

Stayed here many times over the years, the first time being 2006. It's a great atmosphere, you can stay in the big, dorm style marquees, bulk beds, or on the floor, or you can bring your own tent and pitch it on the grassed areas. The fire pit at night is a great social scene, and the Bavarian beer they have is always good. Food available is pretty good too! For those on a budget, it's perfect! Short tram ride into the city centre is punctual and easy. Take a walk to the botanical gardens and Schloß Nymphenburg, and follow the Nymphenburg Bierdesteiner Kanal to Munich Olympic park for a nice walk! One of the best 'hostels' I have stayed at and have many fond memories here

They don’t give pille and blankets are not good for the night, you can be cold. But the area is good. Reception is always busy, they talk on the phone always.

Perfect place for socializing and passing an evening while you are in Munich. My wife and I had a little tent for two and we slept in our own tent while paid 20 € in mid August which is the busy season. Free electricity, free hot shower, free access to kitchen and free washing machine is provided. They have a free city tour too but you have to register and see the timing and the day because it’s on a specific time and day of the week. For the food and drinks they accept only cash. I didn’t see the whole prices but I filled(you could have your own bigggg glass) two glasses of coffee (self service) and took two 🥐 for 5 💶 which is fair enough. The place is big enough. The downside would be the tent area is a little bumpy and not flat (steep). And it’s a bit noisy. Noisy because until late at night, people sit and drink around the fire, at the same time, there is a walking 🚶 path just outside the tent area. Although that’s not a big problem but can be added as a negative points. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. They speak perfect English that means being a foreigner you would not have any problem. I would definitely come back here and recommend it for you too.

Good social hostel. We joined the free walking tour (once a week on a Wednesday morning) which was really good plus a great way to meet people. The bathrooms were clean and generally pretty tidy. The kitchen is small so it can be crowded but it was manageable. The dinners they served were really nice and reasonably priced (same with the breakfasts in the morning). You can leave your devices or power banks charging in reception. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We stayed in our own tent - you can hear noise at night but it wasn't too bad and they were good at stopping any noise at 1am. There was occasionally some noise in the morning from people walking past on the footpaths but again nothing major. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hostel.

Yelp
Depending on your level of comfort with "roughing it" THE TENT is either heaven or hell. For me, it was a good experience. The tent is BY FAR the least expensive hostel in the city, and equally unique. For backpackers with their own tent, there is a small yard which was populated by 50 or so other tents at the time of my visit. Essentially, you are stacked up with a few feet between yourself and your neighbors. Also offered is space in the large communal tent, which is filled with squeaky bunks, and equally squeaky lockers. (bring your own lock.) There are somewhat clean (by american standards) showers and restrooms, bike rentals, wifi, good cheap food, a fire pit with communal seating, and a very friendly staff. If you are used to roughing it, love to meet people, or just can't bear to be far from Nymphenburg Palace than this is a spot you should check out. Follow the signs from the street car to the end of Franz Schrank Strasse, then go left up the path.

Yelp
We were here this summer and we loved it. The Tent is basically a youth hostel with a bit of a twist. You can stay in one of the two massive circus-style tents depending on how much you want to pay. In one tent, you doss down on the floor (with as many blankets from reception as you want) and in the other, you can pay a little more and have bunk beds. There's also a small space to take your own tent (which is what we did). The bar is the main focus of the site and it's like it's been lifted from a tropical beach. Hammocks and benches nestle amongst the trees making this a perfect place to chill out (which was good, seeing as it was about 40 degrees every day while we were there!) Pastries, meats and cheeses are sold from the bar at breakfast and you can get an evening meal for around 3e. 0.5l bottles of beer were 1.80e making this a fairly cheap place to hang out. The showers and toilets were cleaned every day and there's also a guest kitchen with gas burners and cutlery so you can wander 15 minutes up the road to Lidl and fetch your own food if you're on a tight budget. It's about a 5 minute walk to the tram stop where it's a 15 minute journey on the S-bahn into Munich centre. There's not much to do in Munich itself, but we'll definitely be back at The Tent to relax.
