Omg I was travelling into Bristol to meet friends and thought it would be a great idea to order food to go ...which I did and I got notifications etc and a final email to say it was ready only to turn up and have to wait approximately an hour to actually get our take away!! If I knew there was such a long delay I wouldn't have ordered...if the communication was better we may have gone and come back or cancelled the order, in any case it's put me off going. The food however is really good 👍🏼

Google
Absolutely DELICIOUS Thali food. I had a chicken coconut curry with the side dishes one usually gets with a Thali. Vegan options and side dishes all superb too. Lovely decor, even the loo was a place of whimsy and delight! They're always open and have light bites as well as mains. Staff were cute AF and it's all local, sustainable and delectable. I had a fizzy lime soda drink that was an authentic touch with a modern twist. I will return fo sho ❤️🥰

One of my favourite restaurants in Bristol. We had a table of 10 the other night and the service was great, staff super friendly and the food was amazing! It’s also very reasonably priced. Great vegan options too. Thanks so much ❤️

Google
Quite a dark restaurant but I liked it - it set a really nice tone. Food was very flavourful and we really enjoyed eating here. I recommend some kulfi after...a really nice sweet treat after your dinner. :)

Had a lovely lunch here with my family, it was half term so busy. Had a bit of a wait but to be expected especially if food is freshly prepared. Very chilled comfortable place to hang out that’s good for families, singles, oldies etc. Great choice of delicious Indian food available to eat in or take out. Good service from friendly staff and excellent value for money, especially if you have one of the specials. Lots of choice for all dietary requirements. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

YUM! If you're looking for authentic Indian food go here! Very good and easily accessible for powerchairs/wheelchairs to get in. Unfortunately, they do not have an accessible disabled toilet as it has a step going up to it. It seems to be an old building though, so please be nice to them! Food is excellent and they have loads of vegan options. Seems to be very good value for money, so definitely go if you want something nice and nourishing in the winter. Really good for families!

Decided to try after walking past this place many times. Some of the food was ok such as the Indian starters. The mains were not very good my chicken looked like it was under cooked and the potatoes came out slightly cold. The service was not the best waited a while to be served and had to go to the counter to get bill, then added a service charge. Would not go back again expensive for what was served. The atmosphere seemed good but the restaurant seemed very cold.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. On the Goan fish curry. Uttapam, sambar, chutney we're all good. Chana Thali was great. Was out in the middle of nowhere. But we had a great time. Masala tea was great. They make Vada pau for lunch. What !!! Folks looked like they are having a good time.

Yelp
Finding this gem of a restaurant is like winning the Gourmet lottery! We had a late lunch/ early dinner there and my stomach is still singing! EVERYTHING we ate was homemade, and from scratch, and your tastebuds can tell the difference. We started with a raspberry ginger cooler and a hot masala chai, both of which rocked our palates yearning for more. We were a party of three. Mains: One Chana masala Thali, which came with the most delicious and perfectly done Chanas, complete with a garnish of raw onions. The Thali also comes with a generous serving of rice, lentils, sabzi, chutney and a wickedly yummulicious salad, a perfect marriage of Indian ingredients and coleslaw. Next was one masala dosa, done to perfection, crispy and overflowing from its serving platter, stuffed with a generous helping of potatoes and a smattering of peas, as the masala. It was accompanied by the yummiest of coconut chutneys, and a delicious Sambhar. It was wolfed down with ooooh's and aaah's, and crunch, munch, munch! Since we had all decided to share, for the third order we went with one of each one's favorites. An Utthapa, accompanied by the above mentioned Sambhar and chutney, an alloo paratha which came with yummy pickles and a small side of sweet yogurt. The third item was *drum rolls* please, Goan Fish curry, the crowning jewel according to the two non vegetarian members of the party. Dessert was homemade gulab jamun, oozing with the flavor of fresh green cardamom and saffron, both visibly present in the serving platter, which comes as a two gulab jamuns, with a small tea. Add to all this yummyness the quirkiness of a spontaneous charm, and the interactive active friendliness of the owners, who also man the Front of House, and you have the perfect recipe for a memorable meal. What can I say, except yes, my stomach is still singing, and if things go according to plan, we should be headed to The Thali for dinner tomorrow night as well. If you're in town, Go. You won't regret it, and your stomach will sing your praises for a looong time!

Yelp
There are some businesses that have done such a huge amount for Bristol that their names have become synonymous with fine dining, music, art and culture in this delightful little city. Thali is one of those such names and the Thali Cafe in Easton is no exception. The second restaurant to be established out of the four now in the area, the venue on St Marks Road is a winner at any time of day. During the daylight hours a range of teas and coffee stretching in origin from each corner of the planet is on offer alongside some of the most delicious cakes and sweets known to man. The Chai tea, for example, is a lesson in how to satisfy the taste buds. As the sun bobs down over St George's this little cafe transforms into one of the funkiest and hippest joints in town. Pink, blue and turquoise charm floats from the wall hangings and decor as customers become friends in this comfortable living room-fused atmosphere. A choice of fish, vegetarian and vegan thalis (typical Indian dish) are carted out by the smiling shiny staff (all of whom have kept well clear of the ugly tree!). Luxurious chutneys and pickles to boot, a constantly changing dessert menu and the most sustainable takeaway scheme in the West - a night out at the Thali is one that always impresses.

Yelp
This branch of the Thali Café is not as hectic as the original in Montpelier, where the kitsch is more abundant and apparent, but perhaps this is due to the fact that this café, now one of several in this ever-expanding business, is a lot bigger and seemingly more spacious. Although I love the Montpelier café, this one also has a lot of charm as well as added benefits. There's a couple of tables outside and they sometimes have live music in the evenings, giving it more enduring appeal. I used to live in South India, and relied on the thalis as much as the locals. It's the staple meal in South India, along with the many different styles of dosa. Although the Thali café is run by people of English origin the food is not too dissimilar to the Indian original. Seeing as I often see these guys on the festival circuit I don't think that I'd be hazarding a guess that a lot of them have spent a good amount of time in India.

Yelp
This is the second Thali Cafe that I've been to. The other was the one in Montpelier, and they're both great! We went for a friends birthday and had a table of 14. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how homely it felt. It definitely feels much more like a cafe than a restaurant. They have a few sofa at one side with tables and chairs at the other side. The bright pink and green decor really pops out and creates a really warm and casual vibe. When you throw in the old traditional art work on the walls, this places becomes really unique. I had the Southern Thali, which is a with Lamb, Pea and Mint Samosas and a Chapatti. The Southern Thali is a Goan fish curry with Summer subji, tarka dahl, crunchy Keralan salad, Basmati rice & raita, all served in separate metal pots on a large metal tray. Now, I've eaten for Thali Cafe in Montelier a few times, so I knew what to expect, but I'm still impressed every time it comes to the table. It looks so good! The Goan fish curry was super tasty. Fish isn't something I'd normally order, but I wanted to give it a go, and I'm glad I did. But I'd go back to lamb next time out of personal preference. The Samosas were AMAZING and had a really good kick. They were definitely the spiciest samosas I've ever had, and probably the nicest because of it! I had a pink lemonade which was also delicious. Super refreshing and not too bitter! All in all a great experience and I prefer the Easton Thai Cafe to the Montpelier one, only asthestically, the food is much the same.

Yelp
I don't know if i'm the best person to have an opinion on this, but I shall give it anyway! The first time I came here I have to admit it was one of those 'the day after the night before' occasions, so I probabley wasn't in the best mental (and indeed physical state) also I went to the Thali Cafe in Clifton. I wasn't too happy with the service, it was busy but I felt a little ignored. I did have a better experiance in this one though (In Eastern) for one thing the service was brilliant (and I was actually able to keep my food down!), and the food was a little better, I especially liked the flat bread I had with my Northern Thali. Please don't really pay much attention to my review, go there for yourself then put up a review of your own! Get Yelping!

Yelp
This Thali Café is located in one of my favourite areas of Bristol, near Bristol Sweet Mart (a great 'corner shop' type store where I regularly stock up on Middle Eastern food and delicious Indian sweets). Since I often drive over to Easton just for a quick shop, I've been past this place many times wondering what it's like - and recently decided to stop in the area a bit longer to give it a try. Inside it has a shabby-chic café feel, with mis-matching leather sofas and armchairs alongside regular wooden dining tables. You can just enjoy a milky chai tea, if you like, or you can sit down for a full Indian thali. These are popular in India, offering well-balanced meals usually made up of a small portion of protein such as fish or Indian cheese, plus a small lentil dish, a small vegetable dish, and some rice and maybe pickles or chutneys. The food here is good, and they do tiffin deliveries as well, which are catching on amongst Bristol workers. It's a great place to pick up flyers and find out about local classes and community events, too, as the walls are plastered with posters advertising this and that. My only criticism would be that the dining area doesn't seem to be very clean - while it's fine to be 'vintage', some of the furniture is just plain tired and a little bit dirty, which is a bit off-putting when you're eating.

Yelp
I use the Thali for two reasons. The occasional WIFI cafe in the middle of the day when I have cabin fever at home (I'm a freelance) where I'll usually have a cup of coffee or two and a cake. The ambience is laid back and comfy and a good place to work in the morning. Occasionally we go out with friends from outside the area for a meal there in the evening and they always enjoy the Thali plates.

Yelp
Visited this place on a few occasions. Have never been disappointed. The curry selection is limited but each and every one is unique and comes from different zones of India. Whether you pop in for a lunch time bite our a big group they are always welcoming. The decor is homely and the staff are great. Prices are not to bad either. Defo a local favourite

Yelp
I've been going to festivals for more than a decade now, but I've only lived in Bristol for a few years. So of course I knew of the Thali Cafe tents at festivals. Not eating meat means that the Thali Cafe has saved my life on more than one occasion (Glasto 2004 and 2009 I'm thinking predominantly of you). There's nothing more appealing when you are completely hanging in a field than a £5 plate of veggie delights, veggie sausages, potatoes and other such goodness. And now, thanks to living in Bristol, the same can be said for standard hangovers. But that's not all the Thali Cafe does, it's a great place to grab a tea or coffee and retains some of that festival vibe all year round. Brunch and lunch is good and there's a great selection to choose from.

Yelp
BYO (There's an off licence next door). Just two thali platters on the menu - fish & vegetarian plus starters & desserts. Good value. Don't environmentally friendly forget the tiffin takeaway club for regulars...

Yelp
The food I was served in this place ruined mines and my girlfriends evening. Two greasy, tiny lamb-chops, pink inside and tasteless for 7 £ per portion. Unbelievable. It was not a first, but definitely the last time when I left this place feeling like puking.
