The Thatch Crinkill

What a lovely experience at The Thatch tonight! Everyone was warm, welcoming, and went over the top to make our evening delightful. The food was delicious and portions were generous. We loved the desserts, and the special anniversary presentation from Steph was truly marvelous. Thank you!

Beautiful Fine Dining in The Thatch, Staff & Management so friendly, polite and efficient. Food was amazing, ambience perfect. The staff went the extra mile to dim lights when dessert was served with candles for birthdays and all sang Happy Birthday. Thanks so much Des & Team. We'll be back

We stopped off here on our way from Doolin to Tullamore for a beer and to check out the building and it's thatched roof. While we didn't eat here, the food looked and smelled amazing. The atmosphere was authentic. The owner's son told us about the history of the place and gave us a tour. It's been in the family 7 generations. Reviews said reservations were a must, but I think they would have found a seat for the 2 of us. Staff was very friendly. If we're in the area again, we will definitely eat here.

Ate here last night week while on a Globus tour of IRELAND (Heartland of Ireland Tour). Best meal for the whole 10-day tour. I will strongly recommend the Irish beef meal. It was amazing. The only thing better is the staff. They were amazing, professional and friendly. Will eat here again on my next trip to Ireland.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, unfortunately the food was very underwhelming. The roast beef was luke-warm at best with very little gravy. I had to ask for more. The garlic potatoes were a complete mess on the plate. Guinness score; 7/10. Lovely little restaurant but the food needs some work to get back to old standards. Again, nice staff + good service, can't fault them.

Fantastic experience all the way around! The food was so good (best fish I’ve had in Ireland so far), the staff was excellent and attentive, and the owner was exceptionally gracious in spending time giving us local recommendations when we asked him what to see/do. The atmosphere is so lovely…we sat by a lit fireplace in a cozy corner and had a nice chat while waiting for our food. You won’t be disappointed if you come to this gem of a place! We highly recommend it.

One of our best finds here in Ireland The staff was amazing. Almost as good as the food! Dishes consumed included Duck cooked to perfection. Moist meat and crispy skin. Other dishes gobbled up included the trout, and the curry Great place don't miss it, well worth the drive no matter where you are coming from.

We have heard stories about The Thatch for 40 years. We decided on our first trip to Ireland from the United States we had to try it to be able to believe it. Every tale was verified and we were thrilled to get to enjoy such delicious Irish food in a building with a bona-fide thatch roof. We were welcomed by a very effusive native of Crinkill. There was a cozy fire that burned real wood and the ambience was as you would imagine an Irish pub.. filled with locals greeting each other and enjoying piping hot food, good music and beer. The seafood chowder and fish and chips were delicious but the Eton Mess dessert was scrumptious . It was a great experience.

Great food...best hamburger in Ireland! Also excellent beef and stuffed chicken. All served the lots of sides. Service was great too!

In town from the states and stopped by for a late lunch and absolutely loved this place. What an incredible menu! We had the pigeon and pigs head for starters and the Guinea fowl and Kangaroo for the main. Really delicious across the board. Desert was the Eton Mess which not only had a great back story but was a great treat itself.

Excellent food, service, and ambiance! The Thatch is truly an experience in fine dining. Just thinking about it being in the same family for 200 years is nothing short of amazing! The Guinness burger is exquisite, moist and so flavorful! We thoroughly enjoyed the filets tonight also and the desserts will make you want to go back over and over. Don't miss this wonderful place with the Thatch roof!

I had the displeasure of eating at the thatch last weekend. I ordered the salmon, when it arrived to the table, it both tasted and smelled like it was gone off. I asked one of the wait staff to return it and I was very surprised when it arrived back to our table. The chef has insisted it be returned to the table, that the salmon was fresh and had only been delivered that day. While the chef seemed to think that I should eat the rancid salmon, I wasn't convinced and unwilling to endure a bout of food poisoning, I ordered a different dish, pasta this time and while it wasn't gone off, it was tacky and flavourless. The wait staff are lovely, however I would not recommend any food cooked by this particular chef nor will I be back to the Thatch.
