The Thinnai

I travelled from the UK to Sri Lanka for the first time and had an amazing experience at The Thinnai. The suite was exceptionally clean and well-maintained by the staff. The team was attentive and super friendly. As a family of four women, my family and I felt very safe and comfortable walking around the hotel grounds. The food at Amudham was delicious, fresh, and always warm. The restaurant staff were friendly and polite too. My sisters and I had a blast in the swimming pool, which was super clean and stunning.||Thank you to Dilakshi and all the staff members for the top-tier hospitality at The Thinnai. I usually don’t post reviews, but this hotel was so great I couldn’t resist sharing one. We’ll definitely be back next year!

I had such a lovely stay at The Thinnai – the staff were honestly one of the best parts. Everyone was incredibly friendly, always checking in to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, without ever feeling overbearing. They really went out of their way to make the stay feel personal. The room was clean, spacious, and cozy, and the peaceful atmosphere around the hotel made it so easy to relax. The restaurant upstairs was fantastic too – the food was fresh and full of flavor, and the setting made it a great spot to unwind after a day out. I left feeling well taken care of and would definitely come back next time I’m in Jaffna!

Our family of five had a truly fantastic stay at The Thinnai. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to one of the Thamarai Villas. The villa layout is unique and charming, with a ground-floor living area featuring a comfortable daybed, and bedrooms located upstairs, offering a nice separation of space and privacy. The room decor, fittings, and overall setup were top-notch. Every little detail was well thought out, and the property itself is beautifully maintained. The staff were exceptional—always courteous, quick to respond, and happy to assist with any request we had. The buffet breakfast was delicious, and we also tried a few items from the restaurant and in-room dining, which were consistently good. Special mention to how well the kitchen catered to the South Indian vegetarian dietary needs of our group—they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied. Without a doubt, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Jaffna.

Went there to get lunch and ordered crab curry, mutton curry and steamed rice. Steam rice was in a small pot, and the Mutton Curry had only few small pieces. We even complained about that and they didn't respond at all. The food was not worthy for the price . The only good there was the atmosphere.

A family group of 18 from Australia, Ireland and Sri Lanka had our first trip to Jaffna just this week and we chose The Thinnai for our stay. From the very warm welcome, to the food and the very comfortable villas our experience was incredible! We would really reccommend this charming hotel and suites to anyone staying in Jaffna as it’s close to some of the main local attractions as well ❤️||Special mention to Roshanth the GM and the reception and restaurant stagf were very helpful.

The front desk staff, especially Iresha, went above and beyond to arrange a triple room for me despite the short notice—her kindness and efficiency truly set the tone for my stay. Dilakshi at the reception.||||Both of them went above and beyond their responsibilities to ensure that my stay, as well as that of my family friends, was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They took care of every detail with such dedication and kindness, it truly felt like we had personal assistants looking after us.||||From a smooth check-in to ongoing support throughout our stay, they were consistently professional, thoughtful, and welcoming. Their efforts made a significant difference and left a lasting impression on all of us.||||The Thinnai is a lovely place to stay, and the outstanding hospitality of Mr. Hobinath, Mr. Thuvaragan.
