Updating this review after my five long years. I love The Townhouse. This little gem is nestled right in old downtown Oviedo, really just a walk away from my place. It's nice having it right there for whenever I want, or when I have company I want to impress with the neighborhood diner.
Ambiance is good ol, down home, quaint. Cute little country sayings and signs everywhere. Staff that feel like they've been in Oviedo their whole lives. In a good way. It's very cozy.
The service itself it very nice. It's the kind of place that'll refill your coffee cup before you're even halfway done with your current coffee cup. You don't find service like that at cheapskate places that hire the closest high schooler. So tip accordingly.
And the food. It's definitely above average for a diner. I can't find either thing we ate on the regular menu. Maybe I'm missing them, but I do remember being surrounded by specials signs written in chalk, so I think they came from there maybe.
I had a giant pork chop sandwich with a side of onion tanglers. Sandwich was good. Overflowing with a very well fried pork chop, and sitting atop a very nice bun that didn't look like store bought buns you find at other diners. The onion tanglers were a crazy amount of fun. There is so much crispy breading to enjoy, but it wasn't oily, which was a plus.
I also got to try some sort of platter that looks like it was for a child. Not a bad thing. It had a grilled cheese, French fries, some chicken tenders, and some mac & cheese. This was fine. I think it was legit made for kids, there was no seasoning anywhere, and the grilled cheese was made with that aforementioned boring bread. So just know that going in.
We finished off with a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie. I had never had a pie like this before. I wanted to try it, and it was good! Nice, tender chunks of rhubarb. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. I got it cold, which was nice, but I'll get it warm and a la mode next time.
Overall, yes, this place is great. Come here and support these nice people.
