The Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens – Alnwick, England - Gastro Obscura

"The wondrous garden anchored by the Treehouse Restaurant was once part of the official residence of the Duke of Northumberland in the 11th century. Today, the land is known as the Alnwick Gardens, a bucolic setting featured in the early Harry Potter films. For the dendrophiles among us, the arborous building at the heart of these gardens is more likely something featured in your wildest dreams. The 6,000-square-foot complex is a celebration of wood: pine, cedar, and redwood, all carefully intertwined to make a theater of natural elements suspended in the tree-line of the ancient forest. Growing trees literally spew forth from the floors while in the wintertime, a cozy fireplace lazily crackles. Need you guess what the tables and chairs are made from? The menu boasts Northern English fare with an emphasis on seasonality and locality. While the menu reads beautifully, some diners note that execution can be spotty. Perhaps a warm drink by the fire would do a winter soul enough good. For its design alone, the restaurant is well worth a trip from nearby Newcastle. You’ll surely work up an appetite gushing over all the wood. None" - rbenn250, Jaszmina Szendrey, JoshVdP, lukefater

After a recommendation of a friend, I went here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. From outside, they place got us very excited and when we came in, at the beginning we thought we were alone as it was very quiet. The atmosphere was magic with all the fairy lights together with the wooden furniture and walls. All staff was marvellous and food was outstanding. Thank you so much for making it so special 🙏🏼

STUNNING!!! 7 of us came to the restaurant. The food was superb!! The atmosphere was lovely. I have a nut allergy and they did everything to make sure I stayed alive. Have to say the best Sunday roast I’ve had in years.

Very nice ambience, cool lighting and tree house setting.. food ok service very good.. would have preferred a more interesting menu. I had the King Prawn and Beef noodles dish which had little taste and watery and couldn't taste the lemon or ginger. The better half had pork tenderloin which was tough as an old boot.. tbf they swapped this for lamb dish.. Cauliflower very Al dente lol.. we had the wine free and cheaper lamb dish so happy with the customer service. Would we go back.. not at those prices for the food quality/taste. Potentially some low background music would be good and better description of food on menu.

The Alnwick Garden Treehouse is such a unique and beautiful setting. Dining in a literal treehouse is an amazing experience, and the ambiance is magical. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the surroundings. The meal was quite disappointing as you can see from photos 😕 which was a shame. While I'd highly recommend visiting the Treehouse for a drink or to see the place, I'd probably eat elsewhere next time

What’s not to love! A magical experience, the feeling of eating in a fairy light lit tree house. All we needed was for Tinkerbell to appear! The service was friendly and the food was good, a lovely place to pass the time and eat.

This food was incredible full of flavour there was a couple of vegan options for each course and the food wasn't bland at all. I think it was really good value for money in a beautiful setting.

My family of four visited the Treehouse Restaurant. The setting was lovely and unique, with a magical treehouse feel. Staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the Easter 2/3-course lunch set was disappointing. The mushroom starter was too salty, and the coley main lacked flavour. The portion was small.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was really good and full of flavour, and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, and a special thank you to Zahra who was especially helpful and very friendly – she made the visit even better. Highly recommend!
