positive: very relaxed, alternative kind of vibe during the time we stayed there. a lot of spanish speaking travelers who chill out in the common areas. great for solo-travelers who want to socialize. beaches and supermarkets are a short walk away. most of the facilities worked fine. curtains in the dorms are great. a/c available. price is okay. potable water in the kitchen. negative: it's a small space and if the hostel is full of people it will be very, very packed in the dorms. in my opinion there isn't enough space for the amount of people they squeeze in a dorm because of the luggage laying all over. if you don't mind this kind of mess allover then it might be the perfect place for you. in the hostel-rules it says the quiet-hours are from 02:00AM to 10:00AM so if you are okay with these times it's another plus for some people hahah. during our stay it was quiet earlier than 02:00AM. the staff were friendly and helpful except one seemed in a bad mood, better not to interact with him.

Due to the hygiene, we felt compelled not to stay. The rooms were really musty, dirty and the bed sheets were stained. We cannot recommend this hostel.

The hostel has a friendly owner and good bar prices but sadly that’s where it ends. The rooms have no locks so anyone can enter your room at any time, there is no safe places where you could really safely store your valuables, the wifi was also not working. There are only 3 toilets but the toilets are combined with showers so it people are showering you will wait for a while before you can use the toilet.

Horrible hostel, was literally the worst experience I’ve had in South America, rude staff, rooms don’t look at all like the pictures, felt as if my stuff could be stolen any moment

The owner or manager is attentive and the friend at the reception in the morning is helpful. But one of the employees is very unpleasant and rude. First, he spilled the food I cooked into the sink. When I asked why he did it, he thought it was dirty. Then when I asked for ice for water, he said there was none without even looking in the fridge. Then he rudely warned you that you cannot drink beer here. The owner of the hostel said you can pour it into a glass and drink it. but he said no. Finally, he washed the bucket with which he mopped the toilets in the kitchen sink. There are bed bugs in the rooms. I had hundreds of wounds on my body. Even though I had 2 more days, I left early. and no one asked why. Arrogant staff, loud talking and music until the morning, zero hygiene...

I stayed at the Trip Hostel during my birthday weekend and it was a great experience. I wasn't expecting much since its the winter season in Punta Del Este but it was great! The hostel was awesome! The hostel had a great bar, comfy beds, friendly atmosphere and awesome vibe. The hostel staff was fantastic! Especially Diego, Canario and Jason (might be misspelled as I am terrible with names). They helped me with all my questions and knew all the hidden spots in Punta Del Este and were always willing to help out. Definitely recommend staying here!

Really cool hostel, chill atmosphere. Well decorated, staff is really nice. Cool rooftop. The hostel provides the towel, that's a positive point. Really clean. Breakfast ok. Really well located.|Rooms are really really small, no space at all to move and put our stuff. Lockers are too small for a big bag. Noisy, there is really no insonorisation.|

My first Hostel experience and I am grateful it was with The Trip Hostel. Fantastic location 2 minutes from Bus terminal, beautiful beach and shopping district, you have all you need at your door step. I received the warmest welcome from Max, Rodrigo, Fer, Raf and Diego. They helped me with my every whim. My plan only to stay a single night but ended up staying 4 nights. The hostel vibe is magnetic, warm friendly staff and guests, with a pumping party atmosphere in the evenings and laid back beach lifestyle during the day. Incredible local bands and local visitors enter the court yard and immerse you in the magnificent Uruguayan culture. Make friends and enjoy this beautiful lifestyle in Punta Del Este with The Trip Hostel.
