We’ve been for a meal twice now at The Trooper and both times we had a fabulous experience. Good service and friendly staff, reasonable prices with great lunch time deals and delicious food every time. I’d highly recommend.

Excellent overall experience at this restaurant. Firstly the food was exceptionally good, with so much choice on the menu, a little bit pricey but you get what you pay for and our meals were certainly worth it. The kitchen is visible when you walk past to the bar/toilets and it was spotless. Staff were very friendly and efficient only slight criticism the website offers lunch time special prices for 3 courses and there was no mention of this when given the menus. Decor is lovely, large garden areas from and back with plenty of seating for warmer weather. Plus a play area in the back garden area. The front does get quite a lot of noise from the A38, which is a shame as the pub is surrounded by countryside.

Fantastic food, best fillet steak I've ever tasted. They do wagyu for the affluent (£69 per person) as well as the usual sirloin, rump, rib eye etc. Fillet was £35 . Lovely location, nice open fire, really relaxing. Great selection of wines. I would definitely recommend it.

Had a bottomless for my hen do at the trooper and I really want to say that the whole experience was super. A big huge thanks to Sarah who was so wonderful! She is a credit to the restaurant. She really did make us feel welcome and was so attentive and kind x Thanks again. We will definitely be back x

Had a great afternoon meal here with family, staff catered to us amazingly and had our one year old high chair set up, brought her meal out first and kept her busy with colouring book and pens. Food was amazing and priced fairly! All the staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough for us! Will be coming back as the boys in the group could have stayed all day and ate one of everything!

Beautiful venue and lovely views of the countryside, however the food and service was shocking. Quality of the food was not the best, the chicken had no flavour and was very dry and is extremely overpriced. Service, waited 25 minutes for drinks. Then 30 minutes for somebody to clear the plates from the table, in the end I moved the plates myself as there were flys coming around the table. I wouldn’t mind but the restaurant was very quiet at 3pm. Nice to go for a drink and sit outside but much better quality and value for food elsewhere in the area.

The staff that was on when me and my daughter went for lunch was amazing so friendly and helpful they both went above and beyond for us I can't remember their names but they 10 out of 10... Honestly best staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting such brilliant genuine staff

Me and my partner came for bottomless brunch on Saturday. Overall the food was lovely, however our steak was quite overcooked. The drinks were nice, but we only got 3 drinks in a 2 hour bottomless slot which has never happened to me at a bottomless brunch before. I’m not sure if we would come again because of this but may be worth trying another time in the week.

Yelp
Went for a Birthday party with a crowd of us. Our table was booked for 8.30 although didn't sit down to closer to 9.oclock. Food was great and I thought the cost of the wine was ok. Service was good and not rushed. Would return

Yelp
We are pleased it's reopened and the new look is splendid. Our Sunday lunch was generally good but the discoloured new potatoes should never have been sent out. Who thought up Broccoli and Spinach soup? Extra gravy was a nice touch but there were no serving spoons for veg. Although busy the service was attentive and the atmosphere good. Mints should have been provided to sweeten the rather large bill. Manoeuvring in the small car park is difficult. There were plenty of expensive cars outside so I doubt others thought it overpriced.
