First time we’ve been back to The Trout since it’s been done up – it looks amazing! We had a lovely, warm welcome from the friendly staff, and Danielle, our server, was absolutely lovely. The place feels so inviting. We started with an amazing starter and then had the three-meat roast – a huge portion of delicious food with all the homemade condiments to go with it. The coffee was tasty and piping hot too. Halfway through our meal, we were even offered more of everything, which was such a lovely surprise. Couldn’t fault a single thing. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

My wife, daughter and son in law stayed for 2 nights as part of our Christmas present from them. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The food is fabulous and the rooms are very cosy. The staff were particularly lovely especially Mia. Would recommend this pub to anyone wanting a warm welcome and enjoyable stay.

We have just returned from a night at the Trout Inn, with friends. What a wonderful experience. The room was perfect. A large bed, beautiful bathroom and nice and warm. The evening meal was fantastic as was the breakfast. We were looked after by all of the wonderful staff. The service was 5* We were even given a cup of coffee to take with us on our homeward journey (what a lovely touch). Please visit, you will not be disappointed!

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit & stay…perfect for our midweek break. The pub is beautifully decorated & styled with warming log fires. Exceptional service & friendly welcome; our room was beautiful with a big comfortable bed & a gorgeous shower ensuite. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with a complimentary drink (a very welcoming & much appreciated touch). Breakfast was also most delicious!! A gem of a place!

Met up with friends, the location is great for us all. Great menu, my steak was lovely. Everyone enjoyed it and we'll certainly be back. Very relaxed atmosphere and we weren't rushed, which was good for our catchup. Thank you so much x

I wanted a hotel on the Thames to break my walk to Oxford. This was the ideal place for me. I enjoyed a lovely meal, great comfy room, then a tasty full English breakfast the following morning. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed complementary drink too. Very happy to recommend, stay again, and explore other hotels alike. Thanks everyone.

Just stopped the one night en route home from Wales but, having stayed in Butcombe pubs before, we were confident that all would be well with our stay, which it was. The Trout is delightful, if apparently in the middle of nowhere, although that's probably to its credit as it's quiet and relaxed. The room was amazing - spacious, nicely decorated, nice big bathroom. The food for evening meal was delic' and inventive; the breakfast very tasty. If there was a niggle it would be that some of the evening staff were a little less customer friendly (but might have been new and nervous), more than made up for by the gushingly friendly service at breakfast. The Muddy Paws deal is great value. Would definitely be back if it wasn't for there being so many other Butcombe pubs to try...Happy to heartily recommend.

Lovely place, have visited at least 5 times and always had a positive experience. Yesterday our waitress went above and beyond to hell us with the app and showed us how to add the card to our phone wallet. Really kind. The Pheasant dishes on the menu were really tasty, the menu was diverse and really enjoyable. Great to also see they serve nye timber.
