We found The Tug Restaurant through our travel agency and the great reviews on Google, so we were really looking forward to it. The only reservations available were at 5 pm and 9 pm, so we booked 5 pm to enjoy the sunset view.
When we arrived, we noticed several tables by the window overlooking the ocean and asked if we could be seated at one of them. We were told those tables were reserved, even though we had also booked in advance. Another staff member came over with a confrontational attitude and explained those tables are booked a month ahead. We accepted that and sat at our assigned table for four.
However, during our entire meal (about an hour and a half), none of those “reserved” window tables were ever occupied — even when we left and walked by again almost 40 minutes later, they were still empty. It felt disappointing and, honestly, a bit discriminatory.
On the positive side, our waitress was kind and attentive, and we tipped properly. The food was just okay — we expected more given the reputation. The view is beautiful, but overall the experience didn’t match the hype.
