How and Where to See the Famous Tulips in the Netherlands

"A highly photogenic garden featuring more than 200 tulip varieties and over a million blooms arranged with Instagram-ready props like tractors and a windmill; the attraction also includes a greenhouse, a small café for breaks, and a playground/children’s area, making it both a prime spot for photos and a family-friendly outing." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. Amazing experience at a relatively good price. We visted at the end of April and tulips were perfect (see the pictures). You should buy your tickets beforehand as sometimes it is fully booked. If you have the tickets, you enter immediately with no waiting time. We spent approximately 2 hours in the field. There is a big parking area, toilets and a nice place where you can have a snack, sweet and coffee.

Great place to visit! and tulips were beautiful and cafe is huge so plenty of places to sit down and charge your phone. As usual you have to pay to use the toilet, prices are reasonable. It’s a nice walk from Hillegom train station so definitely get there by train as the car parking was mayhem!

I recently visited The Tulip Barn, and it was easily one of the highlights of my spring. Nestled in the Dutch countryside, this vibrant spot is a dream for flower lovers and photo enthusiasts alike. Rows upon rows of stunning tulips in every color imaginable created the perfect backdrop for a peaceful stroll and some truly postcard-worthy shots. The setup is charming — not just tulips, but also cute swings, photo props, and cozy seating areas that made the experience feel immersive and personal. It’s very family-friendly, but also a great spot for a quiet solo walk or a romantic date. The staff were welcoming, the atmosphere was relaxed, and I appreciated how well everything was maintained despite the crowds. If you’re in the Netherlands during tulip season, this place is a must. Tip: Go early to avoid the rush and get the soft morning light for the best photos. And don’t skip the coffee and Dutch treats on site — a perfect way to end your visit.

We had a wonderful experience at The Tulip Barn! The place was absolutely stunning and incredibly photogenic – perfect for capturing beautiful memories among the colorful tulip fields. Every corner seemed thoughtfully designed for photos, with fun setups and vibrant backdrops. Overall atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. It’s a great spot for families, couples or anyone who loves flowers and photography. But be careful if you’re pollen allergic. Highly recommend if you’re visiting during tulip season 🌷 Visited on 2nd May

You cross a small lovely town to get I got the entrance of the field. There is plenty of space to pal your card or bicycle. You have possibility to buy drinks and food, souvenirs and of course tulips. You need to pay an entrance to get in the filled or you can also look at them from the fence. If you walk through the village to get there, you will also cross other nice flower field (for free). The train station isn25 min away by walk. I would advise to visit at the morning or early afternoon has it is quickly getting crowded.

Of the three places we went this one has the best and largest fields! The flowers were in full bloom and gorgeous! Definitely recommend arriving right at opening if you want pictures without people! It gets crowded very fast. They had a food truck as well as snacks and drinks inside the super cute barn area! A great little shop as well! Highly recommend!

Tulip Barn is truly one of my favorite places in the Netherlands. I visited last year, but it was raining - so we decided to return, and I’m so glad we did! This time, they’re also showcasing beautiful hyacinth fields, and I finally got to witness a sunset over the flower fields. It was absolutely breathtaking - like something out of this world. This is a must-see during the spring season. It brings a sense of peace and makes you feel more alive. Earth is incredibly beautiful, and moments like this remind us of how precious life is. Let’s keep on living, exploring, and appreciating the world around us. I hope this message reaches a wide audience. Better days are coming - hang in there. The world is a vast, beautiful pedestal waiting to be explored. Keep going!

We were originally planning to hit up Keukenhof Gardens, but after a little digging, I realized… it’s not actually the tulip fields. Major plot twist. So we pivoted and chose Tulip Barn instead, and honestly? Best decision ever. Some people say it’s “boring” because not all the tulips have bloomed yet. To that I say: maybe you’re just boring? It was sooo nice also because we had the whole place to ourselves and it was magical. We took our sweet time strolling around, soaking it all in like we were in a rom-com montage. There are tons of cute photo spots that look straight out of a Pinterest board. Plus, the lovely lady who greeted us was super sweet and even gave us free ginger drinks (10/10, would accept again). If you want a peaceful, picture perfect tulip field without the crowds and chaos then this is the spot. Highly recommend!
