A Review of The Tuxon, Arizona | Hotels Above Par

"An ode to the great American road trip with Mid-Century flair and modern desert style, this redone 1969 motor lodge of 112 rooms wraps low-slung buildings and design-forward, 200-square-foot rooms around a banana-shaped, ice-cold pool with wide-open mountain views; distinctly desert landscaping frames the scene, while yellow umbrellas and rope-y blue chairs add pops of color. Contemporary, artsy references to the American, Mexican, Native American, and Western cultures that define Tucson appear via pieces by whiz kids such as Tucson-born Ishi Glinksy and Tucson-based Jessica Gonzalez and materials like brass, chunky stone, saddle leather, and potted cacti. Set right off I-10 minutes from downtown, it stays utterly design-centric and effortlessly unpretentious, elevating heyday funk with a sense of humor and playful rituals: the ranch bell rings for daily Shady Hour, a jaunty “Shady Toast,” and complimentary mini-slush shots. Rooms feel luxuriously kitted out—beds as comfortable as you’d expect in a posh presidential suite, geometric tile that conjures southwestern woven blankets, rain showers with plenty of force, and Marshall speakers to bring the party to your room. Perks like early-morning elevated coffee, complimentary cruiser bikes, and a 24/7 fitness room with Peloton bikes make it easy to explore by day and wind down after the poolside pulse at night." - Becca Hensley

Our stay at the Voco Tuxon surpassed all our expectations. The rooms have a new, fresh, contemporary look and feel. They’re clean and with easy access. The lobby has a cool space with a bar and seating areas overlooking the pool and the food and drinks were super tasty. Our best experience was with the staff, led by the exceptional Amanda. Her hospitality skills match those of a 5-Star hotel. Watch it IHG. If you’re not careful, the Four Seasons or the Ritz will be stealing her from you. 👍💕

We are a touring band from LA and stayed at The Tuxon for a night while on tour to San Antonio, TX. The gated parking made us feel secure leaving our gear overnight, which is always a concern on the road. The front desk staff were super friendly and welcoming, and check-in was quick and easy. Our rooms were clean, the bathrooms and showers were spotless, and everything felt fresh. Best of all, the beds were really comfortable, which was a lifesaver after long drives and shows. We'd definitely stay here again next time we're in Tucson! Thanks! #socialmediainfluencer #socialmediapromo #thetuxon #hotel #tuxon #tucson #arizona #travel #lifestyle #cleanhotel #hospitality

For the money, this is a great place! Pleasantly surprised. My room was very clean, and simple. It’s not luxurious, but it’s well thought out. The lobby bar is fantastic. The ladies working this past weekend were sweet as could be and they work hard. And the chorizo breakfast sandwiches coming out of the kitchen are way better than I would have expected. Way better. Only drawback is you’re next to the expressway but I personally slept through the noise. The folks running this place are doing a great job. Will stay again.

Price was on point, location was a 1.5 miles from the El Tour de Tucson race start, so we only need to ride our bike over to the starting point. The room was small but clean and neat so it cover our basic needs. This place Included a restaurant, a gym, laundry room & a nice pool area. The staff was very friendly and commodating. We did have issues with our keycard not working but the staff handled it efficiently. I would come back again. If I do this race again next year

I'm thoroughly impressed at what this hotel has to offer, excellent staff ready to help you 24/7. Heavy metal gates in the entrance to the parking lot lock and keep the property safe after 9pm. You open and close them with your room key card. The rooms are as nice as a high-end as a new Hilton Hotel. The bar is stocked with great selection of liquors. Breakfast is excellent, Property has large pool with hot tub. The overall feeling here is friendly, warm, and inviting. Even though the freeway is in front you barely hear any road noise in your room when you're on the highway side. There are hiking trails that immediately leave the property and go up a small mountain.

So happy to discover this fantastic hotel for our mini vacation away from Pheonix. It was gorgeous! Super cool vibe! Live music, games yo play, full bar, great food! The pool and pool area is spectacular! The ambiance is off the charts. Definitely get a poolside room so you are facing in as it is right off the freeway and near residential areas. Also the staff is super service forward and really responsive and helpful. Special shout out to Cassandra the manager and Angel at the front desk for being extra amazing! Will 100% return!

We recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding weekend with multiple members of our family, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome — everyone from the general manager to the maintenance team was friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. The food was excellent throughout our stay.. The drinks were just as impressive — great selection, perfectly made, and always served with a smile. A special shoutout to Amanda, Juan, and Edward for going above and beyond with their service. They were attentive, upbeat, and made every gathering feel extra special. The atmosphere of the hotel was warm and inviting, which really helped bring our family together and made the weekend even more memorable. Everything ran smoothly, and we felt truly taken care of the entire time. Highly recommend for any group event or just a relaxing getaway. Thank you to the entire team for making our family celebration so enjoyable!

Google
It was nice. The hotel is very cozy and decorated well. The only thing missing was a microwave... I assume its because they want you to order from their restaurant but I just wanted to make some spicy chicken noods man 🤣 But the bar is nice and they have a good selection.

Yelp
The Voco is one of the new parts of the IHG Group, and the Tuxon is Tucson's representative of this brand. It's a great facility that takes a historic property and completely updates it to modern contemporary standards. However, it keeps a mid-century style and adds an artistic aesthetic. It has to be experienced to be fully understood. The center of the motel is the pool area, which is fully understandable given the climate in Tucson. Bring your swimwear! Or if you don't want to swim, you can always soak your feet in the water, or just laze on the lounge chairs (many of which are shaded). The bar area has a roll-up window that allows food and drink to be ordered from outdoors. Remember to get a pool-view room to fully experience this center of attention. The pool-view rooms on the lower floor have a small seating area by their door. Keep in mind this motel is right by Interstate Highway 10 (I-10). While this makes it very convenient for travel purposes, rooms on the highway side might have some road-noise issues. Some are not bothered by this, but if you want to minimize the issue, request a room located away from the highway. The grounds of the motel are wonderfully landscaped with drought resistant plants that are nevertheless beautiful. There's also a large fenced area behind the hotel that has gardens of cacti and succulents as well as a few trees. This is ideal to walk your pets if they are traveling with you, or to just sit and relax.

Yelp
Who knows if Tuxon was a charming roadside motel in its heyday. In any case, this hotel probably underwent a stylish glow-up all thanks to the folks behind elevating this gem to what it is now. My kid booked a King-sized bed studio for us that was every bit comfortable during our long weekend stay. It has a lot of personality and packed with a boutiqueish mix of raw-looking walls, industrial pipe touches and (faux) cactus plants inspired by Arizona's surroundings. The stylish inside really doesn't compare to the motel look on the outside. The bathroom is another highlight with a sizable sink+vanity area, the shower is designed with large subway tiles+black handles and the rain shower was all I thought about after my flight was seriously delayed from O'Hare to here on a Friday night due to weather. Other basic amenities include a hair dryer, shower+shampoo+conditioner, makeup remover, mini fridge, complimentary water bottles and a 40+" tv that we couldn't seem to get it to work. My other gripe is the room not having any USB charging ports by our bedside tables or anywhere in the room. Plus the limited outlets, made charging inconvenient. If it weren't for each of our portable chargers we brought, it would've been a mess. Another issue was the fact that we unknowingly booked our studio right by I-10 so all we heard was the constant traffic noise from cars passing by. It was difficult our first night- we pulled through and somehow tuned it off. What would help tremendously- especially this side of the hotel are noise-reducing double or triple-pane windows. Anyhow. While my kid and I didn't trek on foot, Tuxon is conveniently located (at least to us it was) to a lot of the destinations I planned for our short stay. I mean, the most we drove was about 40 minutes to head to Saguaro National Park or Sabino Canyon. Tuxon offers other comforts too- just ask the front desk. My kid and I didn't take full advantage just because we were out til late the few days we were here. Housekeeping was great and so was checking in and out. We had a nice experience during our 4day/3nght stay, We felt comfortable, relaxed (despite being by a major road) and satisfied with our bed, bathroom, services, and the overall clean atmosphere of Tuxon.

Yelp
Came for a Sunday fun day swim party. It was amazing so glad I came the DJ had everyone up dancing and enjoying ourselves in the swimming pool we rented a cabana which was perfect as well as a room. The drinks were delicious and same with the food. We ordered burgers and fries. I would suggest coming here to anyone even though it's along the interstate it's a very nice renovated hotel.

Yelp
What a great remodel of a classic hotel space. The surrounding neighborhood has seen better days but you're reassured with the security gate. The room is clean, welcoming and modern. There's complimentary water which is rare in even some of the upscale hotels. The pool is heated to 86-90 degrees so even on cooler Tucson days/nights it's welcoming. The lobby bar has great outdoor and indoor seating with a diverse menu for food and drinks. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Yelp
The place is off the main freeway. It's a secluded adorable place. We checked in late at night and staff was so nice. Tools are clean . Great price. I love that it's gated so your cars are safe

Yelp
They have done a great job with this hotel. Within its walls, it's a little oasis within its neighborhood. Clean rooms. Fun atmosphere. Great food. Had the best pico of my life with my breakfast!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, but so many things added up to make the experience not so great. First, the good: the place is cute and renovated. It is aesthetically pleasing, especially to someone like me that loves the retro vibe. Also, the staff is very nice. Everyone we met was really friendly. The pool area is also very nice and relaxing. Strangely, they have cabanas that no one uses because they are $75, almost the price of a room here. The bar has decent drinks, but the food is hit or miss. Unfortunately, the good didn't take away from the negatives. First, this is an old property that has been fixed up, so it is inevitably noisy. Knowing this, I specifically asked for a quiet room on the top floor to minimize hearing people. The clerk gave me a bottom floor room and assured me no one was above me. Both nights there were people above and you could hear every step. Then there was a major issue with the hot water. It would get super hot and then go cold and then cycle back to super hot. There was no way to adjust it to make it comfortable. One afternoon after visiting the pool we barely had any hot water at all. Maintenance came and it was hot for the minute they were there, which did not fix the issue long-term. Since the phone in our room *also* did not work, there was no way to call to report it, and I didn't feel like constantly walking back and forth. Finally, it has been a real hassle to get a receipt. I was told one would be emailed, but it never was. I emailed and got a one sentence email that didn't address my issue, then they stopped responding to emails and won't answer the phone. They definitely charged my card though, which is frustrating. Also the fire alarm went off at 5:30am because someone was smoking in their room. The staff was apologetic, but I imagine this is not a one-off situation. It should probably be mentioned that the rooms are SMALL. We had two double beds and one was so close to the wall that if anything fell, it was quite a hassle. But that was far from a dealbreaker. I think this is properly is fine for a night or two, and if you expect it to be what it is. They can work on communication a bit and definitely fix the hot water situation.

Yelp
Artsy boutique hotel that makes a rough part of town look appealing. I've spent my summer enjoying a series of staycations across Arizona, and Tuxon is one of the more intriguing properties--it has *personality* What I loved: It has a sizeable pool with plenty of seating. The lobby has a great bar with a brief but surprisingly good cocktail selection, and it serves food until like 10pm. They sometimes host trendy evening events. What was less than ideal:The rooms were OK, but I didn't really like the bathroom. The entrance is an unusual sliding door. The shower is tiny and weak. But overall, it was still comfy. This has plenty of potential for fun, and is a decent reflection of Tucson's urban aesthetic--it's just a brief drive from downtown, after all. If you're spending an evening here for a show or a game, this is a pretty good overnight stay.

Yelp
Had a one night stay at the new IHG purchased Voco - The Tuxon. Hotel was a great value on points and had a very comfortable bed so slept well. That said, there were a few issues. When I came in the room the light switch wouldn't work, and I figured out I had to slam my fist on it to get the lights to turn on. As I was falling asleep I could hear my neighbors checking in and they had a dog. The walls were really thin but luckily once in their room they didn't make a lot of noise. In the morning I took a shower and the water was hot, then cold, then hot again. Lastly, I called down to the front desk to ask for a late check-out and nobody answered, so I just checked out at their normal time. All small things, and I'd stay there again with how few points they charged. It's about a 15 minute walk to the free light rail to Downtown, too, so that was nice.

Yelp
First off, props to the hotel for trying to make this an updated experience. The rooms are newly decorated and chic. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The outdoor murals are outstanding. That said, it's still a motel and is right off the freeway. The walls are paper thin. They do a great job of securing the premises at night which is good. Just be aware. It's a motel.

Yelp
Stayed at this nice little spot just outside of town. not too far from campus. very contained and safe spot in a not so great area. boutique vibes with mid century look. rooms are great and easily accessible. very easy access to highway and downtown. Staff is friendly and helpful. Didn't spend a lot of time in the main bar/ lobby area but it seemed cool. Didn't spend a whole lot of time there but it was a perfect place for my purpose. Dropping off the boys at college.

Yelp
This place was so cute and affordable! Found it while passing through Tuscon. It felt very safe and was gated and even had an EV charger which was nice! We did a late check in and the service was amazing! I can't remember the name of the woman who helped us but she was so friendly and accommodating! The breakfast and coffee in the morning were great too! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here to during a trip to take my daughter to her first concert (Beababedoobee - I'm sure I spelled that wrong). My daughter picked the place off the internet. Since I wasn't familiar with the area it ended up being farther from downtown than I thought it would be. I didn't feel unsafe in the area but it's among a row of motels. The ambiance is cute. But the room was smaller than I expected. wasn't thrilled that there was no real closet or drawer space and the bathroom was tight too ( although the bath products were a plus). The bed sheets on one of the beds were actually not that clean and it looked like blood spots were on them so the teen and I shared a bed. Now the restaurant food was super good though as were the drinks and the portions generous for the price. This wouldn't be my first choice were I to return to the area. And as a Marriot Bonvoy member I guess I expected a little more.

Yelp
5 stars for me means It was not only good but I'd come back and recommend it. This hotel had the feel of a retro 60's Los Angeles apartment. Looks and feels very modern and dare I say chic. The bar and breakfast were better than what I would expect in a small hotel in Tucson - but so many things about the hotel were surprising. Very clean room. Was provided a late check-out upon request.

Yelp
The tuxon This is my favorite hotel that I've stayed in a very long time. People were so respectful, no parties, no slamming doors. It was wonderful. The rooms were cute. The shower was good, the bed was great. Honestly we cannot wait to go back and stay at this place again. It wasn't in the best part of town, although it was gated, and we felt very secure. They offer food, and they have a full lounge to have cocktails. Levi and Ann you are the best along with the DJ. I WOULD RECOMMEND
google avatar

Sebastion H.

Yelp
The hotel is a cute little place that was renovated from a motel 6 or similar. The beds are comfortable, the room recently renovated, and the whole place is very clean. The noise proofing of the rooms is terrible. Me and my group were awoken every 2 hours by some truck on the highway. The bathroom door has been replaced with a sliding door and no matter what I did it always had a 2 or 3 inch gap around it. All the warm air from the shower vented out into the room. Final review: Nice looking place. Will not return.
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem! We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel and would definitely 100% come back and recommend to anybody who's in the Tucson area. A mile from the entertainment district downtown. Super comfy bed and pillows. But, the best part was how dog friendly they are! We have two little Frenchies who absolutely love the place. Friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a hotel. Having a full bar is a plus in our book. Special shout out to Adriana.

Yelp
My wife and I rented a cabana by the pool for the day we just wanted to chill by a pool and have a few cocktails. Nice indoor bar with lots of different choices and there was a restaurant onsite for burgers and tacos. Pool area was clean with some nice decor and plenty of clean towels. Unfortunately we got hit by an unexpected monsoon storm so we had to leave early but the hotel was kind enough to offer us another day free of charge!

Yelp
I very much enjoy the food and drinks at the Tuxon, but the last two times I've gone, the bartenders have been really unpleasant, acting as if our dining in their near-empty lobby bar is an inconvenience. On my most recent visit, during Sonoran Restaurant week, the bartender was just flat-out rude. I'm talking eye rolls and sighs over a pre-fixe menu. The meal was delicious- loved the cheese crisp and flat enchiladas, but I don't know that I'll be back again. It doesn't feel good to be treated poorly for ordering a meal at a place that serves food. This has been a favorite spot for me to meet friends and take out of town guests or the past few years, but there are plenty of other spots where I know that the servers will at least be polite.

Leslie M.

Yelp
This is my review based on two visits. 1. Drinks: good! Not amazing but solid 2. Food: meh. Not amazing but not bad 3. Ambience: awesome and definitely worth checking out when it's not super hot out 4. Bartender: personality of a cardboard box and not kind :( One time and I'd of course chalk that up to them just having a bad day. We've all been there! But two consecutive times? Jeesh I know it's hard to find decent employees these days but try a little harder?! Disappointing.

Yelp
On our way to Dallas, TX, my friend and i made a pit stop at Tucson, AZ and stayed at this very lively, hip, and urban accommodation. Now at first glance, it does look like a motel, in fact, it reminded me a lot of the Bates Motel - now we know how that ended. But it is not even close to that. After driving up, the bright Vegas-like lights tell a different story, one where laughter and splashed by the pool are heard. Even late into the night, the atmosphere of fun lies not too far. The desert heat and the bar at the reception lobby make a perfect space. On the night we checked it, there was even a paint and sip activity going on. If I were to ever open my own boutique hotel, this is what I would base it off of. The staff were nice and the accommodations exceeded expectations. My only regret is staying for one night.

Nadine L.

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 nights. There was a single nice bartender that worked there. She took care of me on 11/11 and 11/12. She was personable and sweet. Mostly everyone else I encountered was cold, or just plain rude. On my third night I heard the bartender that was working talking to another employee sitting at the bar eating next to me. They were talking badly about the bartender that took such good care of me. Making fun and saying they couldn't believe she still worked there. My room was not cleaned a single time my entire stay. On my second day I inquired if I needed to request service. They said no, rooms are cleaned daily. I let them know my room wasn't done, and she said she would put me on a priority list. The next day it was still not done. I called down, the girl rudely asked me if I "even requested service". I said yes, but was told I didn't have to. She said "What are you talking about?". So, I requested service. None happened, and the pattern continued. It was never cleaned or restocked with water/towels/lotion/etc. The food is pretty awful. The employees are aware. The third night as I sat and over heard the two employees talking, the one sitting next to me asked the bar tender if "there someone good in the kitchen tonight". To which the bartender responded with something like, "Is there ever?". It's a cute hotel, but that really doesn't matter when the service is so bad.

Nance V.

Yelp
Cute concept but scary location. Do your homework. Thank goodness they have a gate to lock around the property at night. No walking around exploring the area here.
google avatar

Jaime G.

Yelp
Do not stay here. The website does not provide a clear description of what to expect. It is a renovated motel six with outdoor room entrances. Fully fenced hotel which is strange. Staff and call representative were not helpful and refused to provide a solution to finding a more comfortable hotel nearby. Do your research before coming here, it is not a good representation of Marriott hotels. It's not safe or clean. 100% false advertising on the overall look, cleanliness and feel of the hotel. Definitely find another place.

Yelp
I'm just going to make a list of the pros and cons: Pros: Nice pool area Nice bar Friendly staff We saw one security guard the whole time Cons: Tiny drinks for how much they are Terrible rain shower/water pressure CLOUDY, UNDRINKABLE SINK WATER I could also add that the surrounding area is NOT a nice area but I mean, that's not really the fault of the hotel or any of the staff, just keep that in mind when thinking about booking a stay here. There was one (1) security guard that we saw during our two-night stay (plus the gate around the place makes you feel safer). The slushies we got at the bar were super tiny - maybe could gulp it down in a couple large sips, but at least the flavors were nice (the coated rims made the drinks, honestly). We also got nachos, which had so many toppings and not enough chips to really call them nachos (more like a bowl of various nacho toppings). But, when we did manage to eat the chips with the toppings, they were delicious. We didn't end up going into the pool and honestly I think the reason wasn't because we never wanted to, it was because the stock of fresh towels was awful. There were maybe two towels for the entire pool area at all times - the rest were already used, laying around on the chairs.

Yelp
This was my first time at this hotel. I came on a business trip and we decided to stay here because the pictures online looked beautiful. And to my surprise the pictures matched what it looks like at this hotel. I stayed here for four days. And I was able to explore a little bit at this hotel. The entrance to the lobby is nice. And the employees were very nice and very attentive. The lobby was beautiful. The pool was also very nice. The gym is 24/7. And their gym was amazing. They have real nice treadmills, the incline goes up to 40 and there's also a decline on this. Also at the gym, they provide water bottles for you and towels. When I checked in they gave me two cards to go to my room, I went inside the room and the space to the room was pretty big. I found a gift provided by the hotel, which is a welcome note and popcorn. There is a mini fridge there and a TV, and the bathroom was huge. At this hotel you can also rent the bikes that they have out in the front. I tried the food at this hotel and I had the nachos and it was very delicious. They are very generous with the meat and the chips and the sauce. But their coffee, very amazing. I had one or two cups of coffee every day. So I got to try their coffees there and each one was amazing. They even have La Colombe on tap, so you can get it as a cold brew or a nitro cold brew. Best experience ever. Especially me being a big coffee drinker. Overall, my stay at this hotel was amazing and I totally recommend this hotel because whenever I come back to visit I will definitely stay back at this hotel. I really felt welcomed and the employees at this hotel were very generous and helpful.

Yelp
Awesome hotel! As a last minute trip, we booked this hotel with limited information besides the pictures on their website. With a modern feel and look, the hotel did not disappoint. There is a nice pool in the center of the hotel, and also the reception/restaurant was great for drinks and a bite to eat. The breakfast burrito was incredibly flavorful, with the sauces and salsa on point! The room itself was a standard room- storage space was definitely limited but there were still a couple of drawers and a place to hang clothing. The shower had a nice pressure and came stocked with the essentials, Thank you Tuxon for the hospitality during our stay!

Yelp
Stayed at the Tuxon Hotel one night. For context I've stayed at a large number of Marriott Properties for 20+ years. And. I previously lived in Tucson. This is a gem. It's a blend of old and new. The old bones of a traditional road side hotel. It reminded me in structure of the hotels we stayed in when I was younger. Think 40 years ago. And we were driving from the mid Atlantic to Chicago. Holiday Inns. Howard Johnson. Before it was a dive hotel. That nostalgia combined with a fully renovated gem. It's counter to the norm of tearing down the old and replacing with another cookie cutter business traveler hotel. The rooms have the bones of the old. I can see how some would not prefer it. If you're use to a certain business model this would be a deviation. It's not a courtyard, Fairfield, residence inn etc. It's unique. Loved it. Kudos to the staff. Hospitality is not an industry for the weak of heart. I appreciate what you do. Highly recommend for those seeking the nostalgia of days gone by road trips. Will repeat.

Yelp
Marriott's new Design hotel was fabulous! Love how they renovated the old motor motel into a boutique hotel without making it feel so new . The modern accommodation with that past charm is so well balanced. The rooms so well designed and comfortable. Love the pool and bar can't wait for my next visit to Tucson. Never was crazy over those old motels but this is not that ! I love the retro feel but with modern stuff and local goods to appreciate.

Yelp
Lost 2 stars because the bathroom was dirty - the sink had not been cleaned and had hair in it. See photo. The room is incredibly small. It is very noisy - there is no sound proofing between floors or walls. The neighborhood is sketchy but that goes for most of Tucson. Expensive.

Yelp
A desert gem! A brief but extremely comfortable stay in this newly renovated hotel. Our room was cozy, with ample space for working, sleeping, and resting. The bathroom is spacious and nicely decorated. Room amenities are pleasant, decor is laid back and industrial. We would definitely recommend this hotel for friends, families, and solo travelers. Pets are welcome too!! Don't sleep on the breakfast!! Great options for gluten free food. This place is gated

Yelp
They really have done a good job of transforming this place. The bar area is nice to hang out at. Outside of the bar there is seating and a fire pit. The food is really good! The last time I was there the bartender wasn't as pleasant as the one before. I was there for a Tipsy Picasso event and won't let that one encounter deter me from going again.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous hotel. I'm here on a work contract and will be staying long term which is not something this hotel is designed for, however the ladies have been super helpful and accommodating even offering to buy a microwave for my room. I had the best communication and flexibility from Gaby while I was finalizing my plans to stay here. When I arrived at the property I was blown away. The neighborhood doesn't appear the best, however the property is gated which is awesome. So modern and clean. I will be working night shift and I was placed in a room that never has direct sunlight...absolutely PERFECT! Housekeeping came by my room the day after I checked in which I am definitely not used to having worked in NY for COVID and received zero housekeeping. I spoke with the ladies today to request only once a week housekeeping and they too were super friendly too even telling me a little history of Tucson. Thank you Lily and Sonya. Being a Marriott partner you gain Bonvoy points for your stay. Not sure if the beds are the traditional a Marriott beds, but from the sleep I've been getting I would definitely say they are. You can't go wrong staying here. This is the absolutely best hotel I've ever staying in and I'm so thankful I will be staying here for at least a month so I get to enjoy the wonderful amenities they provide.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hotels in tucson! I've stayed here many times for a staycation and always recommend my friends and family stay here when they're visiting. The pool is a lot of fun with a great bar and the restaurant is a lot of fun. The staff is super friendly!

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here! Everyone was friendly, the pool was nice and clean, and the rooms were adorable. Everything was clean and they took great consideration into the little details which I loved. Each room also has a super nice Marshall Bluetooth speaker which was awesome. The bar was a nice touch and very convenient but a little expensive. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I highly recommend this hotel it's a little hidden gem hotel located in Tucson, Arizona!. The rooms are very clean the beds are plush nice & comfy. The pool view is very nice at nighttime. They have a bar and they also have a breakfast menu, complementary coffee throughout the day which I really like. They also have a nice peaceful sitting area where there are plants and cactus planted with a seating area facing the mountains!.. The hotel staff is very friendly and professional. There is one employee who has exponential customer service. Her name is Adriana. She was very helpful during my stay. Thank you so much. I will most definitely stay here whenever I'm visiting Tucson!

Yelp
I need to call it as it is. Probably the first 1 star rating of a Marriott property ever for me. I would probably title it something like "putting lipstick on a pig". I need to qualify this review first--- if you're born after 1980, don't take this review too seriously. If you're born before 1980, you may want to consider other properties. I was able to stay with one of my Marriott Reward Free Night Certificates. No way this should be 35,000 points. Maybe 5000. What was crazy was after my GPS took me there, I still couldn't believe I was at the right hotel. I reset my GPS and put the street location in, took off, and it took me around the block again. Depending on how you drive, it may take you into an interesting residential area you would probably not visit otherwise. This is a "Design Hotel". I get it!! Just not directly off the highway next to a Motel 6 and Travelodge. This was a remodeled hotel straight from Amarillo's Route 66. A true motor lodge. Millenials and Gen Z's would call this bougie or retro. I call it a rip off and overstated. It's not the Thunderbird Hotel of downtown Savannah. Now that's bougie!! Cut to the check-in process---- masks are optional, but staff was wearing most of the time. They have a mobile type check in process. Even though this was a comp night, they still took my credit card to charge $100 for incidentals. Did they recognize my Marriott status? No. Was I offered any Titanium perks? No. My room was just slightly smaller than a college dorm. It did have a walk in shower which was difficult to get in and out of without hitting the toilet. A couple of long strands of black hair were on the shower tile. But that's not all. The toilet was never cleaned and flushed. An awful sandy residue was in it until I needed to use it. When laying in bed, I noticed a huge black fly on the ceiling. I was able to smack it with my belt and saw it land across the room. I hope housekeeping found it this time. With all the highway noise right outside my room, I was still able to get around 4 hrs sleep. On the 1 star side, I called to find out where the fitness center was and if they had treadmills. The attendant said it was in the main area and had 1 treadmill. To my surprise, it was in the pool area and actually had 2 treadmills. They were probably the nicest treadmills of any hotel I'd stayed at. They were brand new NordicTracs. They also had a Peloton cycle as well as a weight room. The only thing they didn't have were towels. For breakfast, I had their Lox Sandwich. It was very good. Looking for other options for eating? There's a Waffle House within walking distance. There's also a local diner type "all you can eat buffet" place. I'm sure that will give y'all that true bougie experience.

Yelp
If you're looking for a different experience, stay at this gem. It's modern, clean and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are small and you won't get fancy Marriott check in packages, but it's a nice change. The pool area is clean and has a lot of seating options. The pool bar had good food as well. It can be noisy at night so plan for a room at the back if that bothers you. I had a pool view room on the upper level and it would have been nice to have tinted windows so I could look out but not have anyone look in. It's not walkable but close to downtown with Uber. I will definitely stay again on my next trip to Tuscon!

Yelp
Such a cute spot to stay at in Tucson. I was not disappointed at all! The pool was great and loved that they had a bar to enjoy pool side drinks! The decor was so cute and the staff all around was great! Would stay again!!

Yelp
If you're looking for a dive motel with fancy upgrades and tons of attitude this is the place. We were hassled not helped, including what gates and doors to use. Please walk through the lobby every time and spend more $. But they'll skip cleaning your room no problem, and upon check out, you can go through the payment steps twice just in case. They are all about the money but the service was beyond poor.

Yelp
My little family stayed a night at the Tuxon and we really enjoyed ourselves. The neighborhood surrounding it can be a little sketchy but they do have gates around the property. The remodel is so beautiful! I love how it's very modern and incorporates colorful and desert vibes. The little touches like a small Marshall brand blue tooth speaker and coffee table books on art and traveling were very appreciated. The pool was so much fun for all of us but our kids definitely had the most fun swimming in the deep end. The bartenders were friendly and made good drinks and we also thought the food was very tasty. We loved their French fries and ceviche and we also enjoyed the breakfast there as well. This little spot is a vibe! They offer lots of cute places to hang out and take pics by. I wish them lots of success!

Yelp
Looking for food poisoning? Want to stay in a hipster motel 6 with bugs? The food that they served here, was unsafe. You could have found better food at the fyre festival. The chicken was inedible really just microwaved, the other chicken dish, was nearly frozen in the inside, and tough and had a minor chemical taste. They ran out of pork so they substituted chicken without mentioning it. The sandwich, I don't know how, it says if it's a special skill to make it worse than airline food. I mean we're talking aeroflot. I've worked in kitchens before, clearly this cook was either stoned or reckless. If you have kids, this is not the place to stay, if you're looking for a cool poolside vibe, this is not the place to stay. This is nothing more than a converted motel 6 with some hipster accents. Pay the extra 30 bucks and stay somewhere else. Also worth mentioning, nothing better than being locked inside the premise without the ability to leave (huuuge fire hazard!). And as for the room, I think I said enough here. It was disgusting. I have stayed in many third world countries, and I've seen better in Bangladesh

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel a few months back. Hung by the pool and had drinks all day. Great time. Super cute place. Not the best neighborhood but u are enclosed within the hotel and doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. Small but designed well. Great getaway or even a day by the pool.

Yelp
Bartenders ruined our time My family and I rented cabanas for Mother's Day. Mind you, these are not cheap ($150/each). The cabanas were a little dirty but the front desk host gladly brought new towels and was very accommodating. We arrived around 2pm and the first bartender at the poolside bar had a horrible attitude and acted like we were bothering her by ordering anything. After a shift change a second bartender switched in. We were ignored for several minutes, not even a kind smile or acknowledgement or "I'll be right with you". This happened to multiple members of our group. Throughout the night this attitude worsened. We were treated poorly and she had zero hospitality skills. These drinks were not cheap either. At $15 a drink plus food I would expect a little kindness for us. A large group choosing to spend the special holiday here ordering several items and were planning to leave a generous tip. We spoke with other pool goers and they all received the same attitude and treatment. We liked the facility great and were excited to try out this hotel. It was quiet and so cute but the hospitality from both bartenders was nonexistent and made us feel so unwelcome. They severely need customer service training.

Yelp
Great hotel transformation from Motel 6 to a Marriott family hotel. This boutique hotel has great swimming pool amenities, not too big, just perfect for spending a nice relaxing weekend under a cabana or full sun as I would. We had some beers and the nachos were excellent.

Yelp
What an unexpected find!! The is an absolute gem, an oasis in the desert! The neighborhood is a little rough, and to be honest, it almost deterred me, but I'm so so thankful I stuck it out! The parking lot is gated, which is nice, and the grounds and decor are 10/10!! Such a unique twist on modern--with a little old Tucson and industrial accents thrown in. The staff couldn't be better or more accommodating! (They even read that little request section on the app and I showed up to extra pillows on my bed!!) The bed is... ooohhhh so amazing :) I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
This is not a Marriott property. Well I guess it is but as someone who has earned lifetime platinum, I've stayed at MANY Marriott properties. As a platinum member I'm used to a bottle of water - the front desk offered to fill my hydro flask with tap water and ice because they don't have any bottled water. I forgot toothpaste and they have none. Not even to buy and he told me "maybe circle K or Walmart". FYI - circle K doesn't have toothpaste either. Front staff not wearing a mask any of the 3 times I went to the front desk. I WAS wearing a mask so he would put it on once he crossed the room and came near me. The AC in the room has to be close to 100 decibels. Maybe because there is no carpet it sounds louder than any AC I've ever heard. No closet - no coat hangers - no iron in the room so don't plan to unpack or iron before a business meeting! Just don't stay here. Rooms are clean and "chic" so someone spent $$$$ to upgrade this motel but it is not in a safe area of town for solo travelers.
