"Twisted Cork Café, St. Thomas Owners Bryan Lewis and Eric Gaspard recently opened the Twisted Cork Café, a wine-focused restaurant located in the historic Frenchtown district of Charlotte Amalie. The neighborhood, which isbusy with cruise passengers during the day, slows down to a more mellow island speed in the evenings. Daily specials, which often feature just-caught fish and produce from an on-site garden, are recommended."

Such a wonderful dining experience! I called to make a last minute reservation for my husband and I. Once notified it was our honeymoon, our lovely server Abby had a handwritten sign on our table waiting for us. During our meal the chef Jason walked over to ask how things were and gave us some insight on local food. Their food however… was amazing!!! We had a salad as our starter (forgot the name but it has cashews and passion fruit dressing which was sooooo delicious!!!) Incredible unique flavors and large portions, which were a blessing in comparison to other high quality restaurants on the island. I got the salmon risotto and my husband got the lionfish and sweet potato fries. (The sauce was amazing!!!) Everything was wonderful. Next time we will be back for dessert and wine! Thank you again for having us 🩷

We had a fantastic meal here. The servicers were very attentive. The atmosphere was homey and upscale.

Google
Great spot in Frenchtown for a solid wine list and wonderful food. Something as simple as a mixed green salad was worthy of comment for its freshness and unique vinaigrette. We both had dishes that were served with chicken as the protein and the chicken was extremely juicy and delicious. Attentive service. Found it through a local recommendation. Did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Loved this place! Had lunch while in town with a cruise. The lion fish was amazing! Expertly prepared with great flavors. Just needed smaller portions so we could have had room for dessert. I would have taken a whole pie back to the ship if I could. Service was terrific! Atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable. Hope to come back soon.

Google
Good restaurant within walking distance to our hotel. We arrived shortly after opening and had the restaurant to ourselves. Nice atmosphere with impeccable service! The Lionfish and Chips were ok, Chicken Caprese sandwich was awesome.

Rolled into The Twisted Cork Cafe (TTCC) for dinner on our first night in St. Thomas. After a long day of travel, a small flight delay, really buffeting winds aloft… we were ready for a very relaxed, enjoyable dinner, with a good bottle of wine! We had not made a reservation for dinner due all the unforeseeable things that can happen on a long travel day. We looked for a highly rated place within walking distance of our hotel, and viola, TTCC popped up. So glad the online reviewers were on point for this place. Totally laid back place, not at all crowded on a Friday evening at dinner time… fantastic service and fare included! TTCC is not a big place, seating in a front bar area and a more traditional dining room in the back. We were initially seated in the back dining room, but with multiple AC units pumping the room with cold air, we opted for the less chilly front room… we had that room to ourselves the entire meal! The back room got pretty crowded as the evening wore on, but TTCC was able to easily able to accommodate the walk-ins. Most of the tables have a small, but real, oil lamp on them… very cute, nice touch! Service was great, attentive but not intrusive. In the spirit of the islands we started with a shared rum punch. We anticipated the sweetness, no surprise there, it was darn good. We figured we’d be having fresh seafood, so we opted for a Folonari Pinot Grigio, which was presented at the perfect temperature, and paired very well with the food we ordered. TTCC is more of a wine bar, the wine list, while not exhaustive, is a thoughtful collection of the primary varietals from the old and new worlds, with a nice little selection of bubbles if you want that. First up was a nightly special, Caribbean Seafood Chowder (think cioppino in Northern CA, Phil’s Fish Market in Castroville, CA, has killer ciopinno… if you visit, you can by a T-shirt with the recipe on it, to make it at home… it’s a day’s work, but worth it!). The TTCC chowder was full of a variety of fresh seafood, a tomato-based soup with lots of fresh veggies and wonderfully spiced. TTCC has an onsite herb and vegetable garden where many of their ingredients originate! Delish chowder! For entrees we decided to share the lionfish piccata and the fried grouper sandwich. The lionfish was firm, tender and plentiful. A very generous portion, fried to perfection, served with rice and fresh broccoli. The piccata sauce was wonderful. The grouper sandwich was equally good. Another generous portion of fish, lighted battered, fried to crispy, served on French bread with a little mayo, a few capers, thinly sliced red onion and romaine lettuce… heaven on a bun! The side of duck fat fried pomme frites was amazing! Served piping hot (as ordered) served with truffle aioli… amazing! Next up dessert! Based on prior reviewer comments, there was only one dessert to get… ballpark pie! The huge piece of pie features all your memories from the ballpark … peanut butter mousse on a graham cracker-pretzel crust. Topped with chocolate ganache, peanuts, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauces and cracker jacks. What an ending to an awesome meal! Not sure we’ll have time to dine at TTC.C again during our short visit on the island, but we’d definitely go back! They’re open for lunch and dinner Mon-Thurs, closed Sat and Sun. Highly recommend The Twisted Cork Cafe.

Google
We had a wonderful dinner here - the portions were massive (almost unnecessarily so), flavors and textures were incredible, and it was a wonderful way to end our trip. Highlight for me was the salmon risotto, hands down. The salmon was cooked to perfection - still soft and practically melt in your mouth in the center. The risotto was not too overpowering. And I loved the onion crisps - the crunchiness balanced out the dish.

Google
My fiancé & I googled places to eat on our vacation and this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything we had was delicious. His steak was cooked & seasoned to perfection. We were way to full for dessert but look forward to going back and saving room for it because they all looked amazing!

Yelp
Food was wonderful, wait staff great, wine yummy. Hubby had the pork chop (huge) and I had the trigger fish. Perfectly cooked.

Yelp
If you are a sweet tooth like me and don't want a full dinner... A must visit in Frenchtown. We had all the desserts and none of them disappoint. Flourless chocolate torte: THE BEST If you're looking for decadent cocoa flavors without the heaviness of gluten, this is your best choice. Bread pudding with caramel: AWESOME Nothing like day old bread turned into dessert yuminess! Caramel and bourbon ice cream is a perfect match. Cannoli Pie: GREAT Get this unique desert if you like the flavors of a cannoli without the mess of eating it. Ask for extra whipped cream. Top it off with a nutty espresso.

Yelp
Service was quick and professional. The food was tasty with hearty portions. Recommend Fosho.

Yelp
The food was excellent and so was the service. We ordered lionfish piccata and lionfish and chips and we were both pleased. The chef and owner came to meet us and was as hospitable as could be. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in the French quarter tucked back in the corner. They have plenty of parking, reservations are not necessary, but may help if they're busy. We wined and dined and had a wonderful time. Our hostess/waitress was phenomenal and made a great wine pairing within our price point that matched our meal. The owner/chef came and greeted us and even checked on again after we got our food. The ribeye was HUGE! The sides were well prepared and flavorful. The ambiance was calm and great for a date night dinner. If I'm ever back on the island I'll return to try everything else! Best food on St. Thomas. Go here, you won't regret it. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny, but the price reflects the quality. Yum! Thank you twisted cork!!

Yelp
Absolutely love The Twisted Cork. The staff is fantastic the food is absolutely delicious. A great place to go when visiting St Thomas. We always make sure we go here every time we are on the island. (The lion fish is delicious)

Cindi B.

Yelp
This little restaurant doesn't have great curb appeal, but inside it is cool and tastefully decorated. The food is great and they offer some nice wines and a full bar. The service was great too. Their Chicken Chef Salad is very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Stacey G.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, the service was wonderful and this was certainly a bright spot in our trip!!

Florencia R.

Yelp
Made reservations while in St Thomas to visit twisted cork given the amazing reviews I had seen. Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience. I ordered their salmon risotto and it tasted like anything but risotto. The rice came with peas and carrots and tasted like Mayo. I was highly disappointed with this meal. I expected a decent risotto for the price I paid. My friends had their wings (they were ok), a fried chicken sandwhich (also ok) and pork chops... these were probably the best out of all the dishes. Personally, I would not recommend.

Sameer A.

Yelp
Located in the French quarter , Monday to Thursday the happy hour is between 5-6 pm and. We had broccoli cheddar soup , vegan crab cake which is a plant based crab cake served with saturated spinach topped with a vegan mustard sauce . This a little gem hidden in a Slightly shady neighborhood but definitely a must visit if you visit St.Thomas . Service and ambiance is so good and swift

Yelp
The Twisted Cork was an amazing fine-dining restaurant! My group of friends and I went here after a day walking around Charlotte Amalie. The appetizers were amazing, we started off with huge buffalo shrimp and duck fat pommes frites served with truffle aioli. The drinks were were pretty good we had the house red wine, champagne, and a lemon drop martini. The bartender, Marga was very friendly and a great mixologist. Everything we ordered for entrees was amazing. My favorite (and the most unique) item on the menu was a Vegan "Crab Cake" served over a bed of Caesar Salad with white anchovies. The Vegan "Crab Cake" is plant-based made of artichoke hearts, chickpeas, red/green bell pepper, celery, fresh parsley, and Old Bay Seasoning - delicious. I would highly recommend it. My group of friends also enjoyed their meals. The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps were a delicious and healthy combination of cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, peanuts, cilantro & peanut lime dressing. If you love fried chicken, get the TRESTON'S CLUB, the sandwich came with a huge piece of fried chicken, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and truffle aioli on your choice of bread - brioche roll or rye bread. The JD's Downhome Shrimp & Gritz were also amazing shrimp served over cheesy grits and smothered in a Southern Creole bacon gravy. I will definitely be back in the future!

Yelp
I admit, we were pretty apprehensive when we first walked into this restaurant. We already weren't fans of this area and we were still trying to be careful during the covid pandemic (and it was crowded, and they don't have an outside dining area). But... we were hungry, and we were already there, and it was late, and the tables were spaced out well enough, etc., so we decided to roll with it... Ultimately, the right call. Because... our dining experience here was arguably the best we had on our entire visit (that's out of like 50 restaurants). No small feat. By the time we left we perfectly understoof why it was so crowded with tons of locals. These guys don't mess around when it comes to food. We had their burger with fries, which was perfect. But what really stood out was their fried lionfish and chips. I know, I know... just burgers and fried food. But trust me. We know perfectly executed food when we taste it. And this was perfectly executed food. People here care about what they serve. So we have no doubt, all of their other more highbrow entrees would've been the same. From my perspective, if they can make diner food taste this gourmet, imagine what they could do with gourmet food. Put this one on your shortlist. Not to be missed...

Phil H.

Yelp
Moderately upscale joint with many wines available. They have plenty of sandwiches and seafood on the menu. Most importantly they dont have a cocktail list but can make them for you, and by that i mean make them extremely stiff. Lovely!! We got the calamari and the the trestons club. The calamari toppings were a it unique. As opposed to a cocktail or aoili, they have this magical spicey pineapple sour sauce to go with it. The trestons club was a fairly large fried chicken sandwich which was had a wonderful crisp to it. They tried hard to push us on dessert, but alas we had to push back even harder as I was going to explode if I was going to have anything else. I might have to return before the conclusion of the trip, a bit pricey but definitely a keeper

Yelp
My family had a very a nice meal at Twisted Cork while visiting St. Thomas. Service was also on point. We will back.

Heather C.

Yelp
We tried the Twisted Cork for the first time. We had problems from the start. Hardly any parking in the French Quarter at the best of times but booked on a ball game night and all the ball game attendees parked in the restaurant's parking lot. Almost cancelled our reservation but pressed on. Then was berated for asking to omit an ingredient because I wasn't allergic. I explained to the wait staff that it shouldn't matter if someone is allergic if they don't like a certain ingredient since the customer is paying for the dish. The wait staff did apologize and was very pleasant afterwards. The wine selection was very good and the lion fish was delicious. I may give it a second chance but definitely not when there's another French Quarter event going on!

Blair P.

Yelp
At Twisted Cork you'll find a quaint, friendly environment with attentive service, outstanding food with well blended flavors, from soup and salad, to entrees, to dessert. Pork chop topped with balsamic onion was fantastic. My dad proclaimed it was the best pork chop he has ever eaten. Salmon risotto topped with fried onions tasted fresh. This dish is certainly plentiful. Shrimp and grits were delightful, with kale on top that gave it a crisp enhancement. The flourless chocolate torte is a perfect way to close the meal, with a raspberry sauce. Heaven. All was cooked perfectly, fresh and with fantastic flavor. Drinks were great: martinis, local rum and coke. The ambiance screams vintage boutique wine cellar, with no music, indoors, with ability to converse with your table mates. The service is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Cecil A.

Yelp
Great customer service, Amazing food the waitress and bar tender really showed us a good time the chef even came from the back to meet us. We had the best time.

Laurence D.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the weight staff was fantastic. We look forward to returning and trying more dishes.

Bruce B.

Yelp
Great place and one of the best places we dined while in ST. Very nice and reasonably priced wine selection. Casual and somewhat rustic place with great service, and very generous portions.

Greg D.

Yelp
On vacation in St. Thomas for 2 weeks and had dinner here twice! What a great surprise! Food, service and atmosphere is perfect. You won't be disappointed with Jason's culinary expertise. Great group of people in this excellent tucked away gem in French Town. Check it out for lunch or dinner, I guarantee you will be back multiple times!

Chester F.

Yelp
Such an adorable restaurant. The eggplant Parmesan special was very tender and delicious. 5 stars just for the lemonade!!

Marie B.

Yelp
Very good food. You will enjoy the atmosphere and the service is friendly. St Thomas had great restaurants and this is one of them.

Allen S.

Yelp
Place was an excellent value, although they ran out of the vegan crab cakes. Settled for pasta in marinara sauce with vegetables. Excellent portion size and great vegetables. The peach bread pudding was delicious. ( I cheated with that one). Well worth breaking my nutritional prescription. My wife couldn't decide what she wanted and I Recommended the red snapper with shrimp in lobster sauce. She absolutely loved it.

Chris R.

Yelp
My wife and I count on Yelp to find good food and we were NOT disappointed. First time on St Thomas and found this place. Easy to get to tucked away on a one way street. Dedicated parking area. Cool vibe w easy listening music at just the right volume. I only had beer so can't say much, wife had mixed drink that was good. The food is the star. We started with kofta meatballs with a flavorful taziki sauce and their garlic bread which was very light and egually flavorful. Wife had chicken Caesar salad which was tasty, large anchovies but not too many. I got the Piccata with lion fish. First time for me eating lion fish and it was delicious, got risotto in lieu of rice (good call), and the veggies were tasty. For desert we got the flourless raspberry tart with maple bourbon ice cream which was a perfect ending to a great meal.service was great, attentive not overbearing, and the bill was quiet reasonable for the portions and quantity of items.

Tracy P.

Yelp
The food of TTC continues to impress me. Fantastic entrees of salmon risotto and sautéed red snapper. Surprisingly generous portions for gourmet food. The garlic bread will instantly clog your arteries due to the insane amount of butter (that's a compliment). Wine by the glass choices were a bit limited but what they had was varied and good. Two young ladies ran the bar & tables which was fine for us as we there before prime time dinner time. YMMV. I suspect it would be a service challenge with a full house. Marga was great - super friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back, which is my highest compliment.

Justine B.

Yelp
Love this hidden gem! Food is amazing service wonderful. The atmosphere is spectacular go to this restaurant. The ambiance is relaxing and cozy!!

Clara W.

Yelp
A little bit pricey, but definitely an enjoyable dinner! We enjoyed the grouper, but to be honest, my favorite part of the dinner was the garlic bread (which we ended up eating two of!). I also LOVED the ballpark pie and would recommend it to anyone visiting!

Nick P.

Yelp
TLDR: You absolutely MUST visit here for phenomenal food. Now for the details: Everything we ordered was made to perfection. The prices were very fair. The staff was very kind and they were killing it in the dining / bar area. The calamari -first time that I've ever had it where every single bite is cooked perfect... Not even the smaller pieces were overcooked and the pineapple sauce was delicious The lion fish picatta may have been one of the best dishes I've ever experienced... I'm telling you! light & fluffy, perfectly crusted fish. Never had anything better. We had the pleasure to meet the owner Jason as well. The man is a stellar person!! Made the trip there that much more enjoyable! I can't express enough how much I recommend The twisted cork cafe. You MUST visit if you're on St Thomas.

Justin G.

Yelp
Wonderful meal and service. Pork chop is a must !!! Kid friendly, but intimate setting. Great wine list. Hidden gem

Mark G.

Yelp
I googled the best places to eat while on St. Thomas and The Twisted Cork came up on a list of 11 places. So we went for it. First we loved that it was tucked away in a neighborhood away from all the tourists and highway noise. The staff was very kind and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice ambience. We ordered the chicken livers first. Would have loved for them to be cooked in the sauce but my wife loves everything on the side. Either way, they were nice and crispy with a very mild taste. And the hot sauce cut right through the richness of the livers. My wife loved her duck fat fries. She also said her Thai Lettuce Wraps really crisp and refreshing. I ordered the Lion Fish and Chips, mostly because I never had Lion Fish before. The batter was very light and airy. The fish itself, which we learned was an evasive species and was throwing the ecological balance of the sea life off was a very pleasant and delightful fish. It was incredibly mild. Super tender and flaky. People should eat it more. I'm glad I did. I'm glad we stopped in and we recommend others do the same PS ask for a bottle of the Chefs Home Made Scotch Bonnet hot sauce. One of the best I ever had.

Tom C.

Yelp
Great meal and service! Dessert was phenomenal - ball park pie. Definitely would go back.

Rachel F.

Yelp
I'd definitely come back to this cute local spot. The walls are lined with wine bottles and you have a good mix of locals and tourists. The waitress who is originally from London makes you feel welcomed the second you walk in. We sat ourselves since she wasn't upfront when we got in and she had no issues with it. Water and wine was served in seconds. Great recommendations from the waitress. We started with fried Mac and cheese balls. It was on the special menu. Totally did a happy dance on this one. Lunch, I had the Buffalo chicken salad. My sister had the salmon risotto, my friend had a fried chicken Sandwhich with a side salad. All were great. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 star is because there was a bit too much dressing on both the salads. If you ask for it on the side this can easily be a 5. The waitress even gave us a recommendation for a local beach. Try this place out if you have time.

John D.

Yelp
Don't let the parking in Frenchtown keep you away! Got there early to have a cocktail and the pours are very nice at the bar. Our food was ready quickly and has served hot and delicious to our table. I enjoyed Shrimp and grits , which was the best I have ever had. Also had Salmon and risotto at our table which was excellent. Amounts were attractive as we both got two servings out of our meals Twisted cork will be on our return list when next on St Thomas.

Sandy V.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the garlic bread and calamari were the best things we ordered. We tried several appetizers, the calamari being the best. The salmon risotto was okay, but my shrimp and grits had a hair in it, so it was went back. After seeing a hair, nothing looks good. Minus te hair, the food was still so-so.

Kristi R.

Yelp
From start to finish, this was the absolute BEST dining experience I have had in a very long time. Our server (Scarlett?) was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, personable and attentive. Highly recommend the brisket burger with house cut fries and don't skip the dessert!

Ramona D.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in St Thomas! Jason prepares the best fish dishes on the island. The staff is wonderful and so friendly you feel like you have known them forever!

Dan J.

Yelp
A MUST!!! No matter where you are on the island you must hit this place up! The food was fantastic, the drinks not watered down and staff was fully attentive..INCLUDING the Owner!! Food is reasonably priced for the island and plenty of food to take back to your room or boat. Wife had the Parmesean Crusted Pork Chop and I had the Seafood Risotto and we highly recommend both. Top of the night with the Peanut Butter pie and they'll have to roll yer butt out of there!!

Justin M.

Yelp
Margarita! We crossed paths and despite her UK heritage, Margarita was a wonderful host! Can't wait to see them again!

Frank R.

Yelp
Does not look like much from the outside but don't let looks deceive you This is a diamond i. The rough My wife had short ribs I had veal chop to die for We both had the best onion soup we ever tasted Don't miss out if in St Thomas you must eat here at least once

Anthony N.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Nice wine selection. The fries in duck fat and truffle fries were perfect. I don't believe there is a mediocre item on the menu! Salads, perfect. Deserts, perfect. Vegan crab cakes? What? Yummy!

Berneta A.

Yelp
Thank you Yelp for always helping me to find great places to eat! In all honesty, we would never have found this without you and even if we did, we probably would not have ventured in. The restaurant is in Frenchtown past a baseball field, and businesses/restaurants that look like they were once residential homes before. I was skeptical when our taxi pulled up, as the restaurant is at the start of a dark residential road. But, never judge a book by its cover, your next best meal may be inside. This is five star service and product with a sense of urgency, which is so rare to find in this town. We've had Elgin as our server before and he is the definition of anticipatory service. He knows of when to engage in conversation with you (he is hilarious) or give you space. My hubby and I are huge fans of the shoyu sake oyster shooters (they are not on menu, but are THE BEST oyster shooters we've had), Calamari (comes with an insanely delicious sweet/spicy sauce), Osso Buco ( is more than enough to feed two), and apple pie with ice cream (we ask for the vanilla to be exchanged out for their home made bourbon maple scoops instead). The parking situation is a little sparse. There is street parking, and a few spots out front, but you may just want to take a taxi. You can even wait for your taxi while drinking wine at their high top table outside. The staff is awesome in getting you transportation if you don't have your own. A dinner here for two if you are ordering with a bottle of wine will set you back about $150-$175. But you're here in St. Thomas in vacation land, treat yourself, you deserve it!

Darryl S.

Yelp
Simply amazing food and superb wine selection. We stumbled upon this gem based on the reviews I read. They are justified as the food and selection are divine and the service matches!

Paolo P.

Yelp
I do want to start out by saying I understand that everywhere is short staffed and the atmosphere on this island is a little more relaxed. For example the night before we went to hook line and sinker and they were very busy and overwhelmed but me and my gf remained patient and understanding as food took a little longer to come out. However here, we just felt unwelcome and ignored. We made a reservation at 730 since we were told the kitchen closes at 8, early than usual at other restaurants but fine. We were seated at a corner booth and thought that was pretty nice of them to do but that's where the customer service stopped. We were so very polite and even ordered wine and appetizers. But our entrees arrived 30+ minutes after our appetizers, and we ordered everything at once! We received our entrees 5 minutes before closing and after a table of 3 people who let's say, don't look us. This party also arrived at least 15mins after we did and they got their plates far before us. We ordered fried fish and chips and a salad...nothing complicated. At that point my gf apologized to me for having her "Afro out". That there makes me highly upset. At that point we started noticing different things like someone who appeared to be the manager or owner having full conversations with tables of people who did not look like us. We were checked on maybe twice...with a standard how is everything? The staff seemed to know our food was taking a long time but nobody checked in on us at all while waiting for our entrees. We put in our dessert order in the middle of eating in anticipation of another long wait. But the same situation occurred where nobody came to check on us after a very long time after our plates were cleared. We considered taking our desert to go because we were feeling so very unwelcome. If you are a person of color and a perhaps a mixed race couple then I would think twice before coming here. It seems this establishment picks and chooses who they give excellent service to. And before you go off about making it "a race thing", trust me we have felt these feelings before and know what's going on. I'm a big tipper as I feel that we should respect food service workers and I never tip below 20% but I felt sick to my stomach giving 15%.

Yelp
We had a pretty amazing time here. The prices are definitely pretty high, but nothing outrageous. I was so excited to eat the burger they have! A burger made of brisket and Filet Mignon! It absolutely didn't not disappoint! It was juicy and fully of flavor. The home made bun was perfectly on point and the fries that are cooked in duck fat are deviously delicious! The service was out of this world! Our waiter Elgen was beyond epic. It was insane to find out he was from where we were. He cracked us up the entire time! I can tell you I have never in my life had such a great waiter. You all know how much I eat out too! What was really awesome was that you get a free desert with your Yelp check in! Now obviously you want to double check to make sure the coupon is still there when you go! The desert is so good it will blow your mind!

Yelp
Ate here shortly after landing on the island. The fish and chips and the island mixed green salad was just meal I needed after having a hectic 24-hour travel day. The food was excellent & the best meal I had during my stay. The service provided by Trip was a great welcome to the island. My only disappointment lied in the restaurant not accepting AMEX. Keep in mind I had landed literally 2 hours prior so I had no clue most establishments on the island don't accept it. My hotel accepts it so I had no indication that this may be an issue. Long story short, I only brought an AMEX and cash for a taxi to dinner. (I try not to carry my entire wallet when traveling.) Despite handing us our bill in an AMEX bill holder, we were informed the Twisted Cork doesn't accept AMEX. I had to call AMEX to obtain a temporary PIN and was charged fees to pull out the funds necessary to cover the bill. Asked the manager if the fees could be taken off my bill since we had no way of knowing the establishment doesn't take AMEX and he said "No, we can't do that." I was inconvenienced by this occurrence and the lack of understanding on management's behalf was disheartening. For future notice, please warn customers up front that AMEX isn't accepted.

Yelp
Took a taxi over for a late lunch. I'm glad we did because I wouldn't know where to park if you go there by car. Interior is nothing like the exterior. The plain facade hides a sleek interior decorated with corks and wine box logos. Very attractive. We started with the Twisted bread. It comes out crispy on the outside and steamy soft on the inside. The olives give it a tiny, salty touch. The only "problem" it it's so good you'll eat it too fast. Hubby got the Mahi Mahi salad special and it was great. I got the Twisted Burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and was a perfect blend of flavors. It came with truffle fries which were not as crispy as I would like, but the flavor was great and the truffle aioli was so good I made sure to not leave a single speck behind. The bacon jam was very good and added a nice contrast to the cheese. For dessert, we had a frozen pie-ish dessert with toffee and coffee flavors. I honestly think it's one of the 10 best desserts I have ever eaten. Ever. It was phenomenal. As with all restaurants on the island, the prices are high but it's just how it goes. Service was great. Definitely add this to your list of places to eat while on the island. We walked back to the shopping district of Charlotte Amalie so it's not too far if you want to go by foot and not by car/taxi. Only about .8 miles from one to the other.
