The Uza Terrace Beach Club Villas (Yomitan, Okinawa Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Uza Terrace Beach Club Villas come in six sizes — none of them small — and come standard with 24-hour butler service, private pools, kitchenettes, spacious living areas, and sweeping views of the East China Sea. (The high-end villas span over 1,000 square feet, and offer hot tubs in addition to private pools.) The restaurant is a proper fine-dining experience (complete with dress code) offering a rotating menu of charcoal-grilled meat and seafood dishes, with an equally elegant cocktail bar and a beautiful terrace to enjoy sunset dinners. There’s also a casual poolside grill, and a deli/café serves smoothies and light snacks and sells Okinawan food products; a full-service spa offers a variety of massage, facial and beauty treatments." - Tablet Hotels

Overall we were disappointed in our stay at the hotel. We booked their airport pickup services. There website shows and talks about a luxury car, but we were picked up in an old white Toyota mini-van. From the start this was a disappointment. At check in we were told because we have tattoos we can’t be seen in any public areas. Dining room, breakfast, pool. We booked their premium 2 bedroom villa room and they placed us at the back of the hotel and our room was next to a public road. Picture paying for a premium room, relaxing by our private pool because we can’t use the public pool, and hearing constant road noise. In the evening we tried their fine dining menu. We weren’t impressed by the food and seemed basic. The staff were very excited to tell us about their wagyu beef, but was chewy and had little favor. For breakfast the next day my wife wore the in-room PJs to cover up her tattoos. We entered for breakfast and ordered. But when she left to visit the toilet she wasn’t allowed to reenter and we weren’t allowed to bring out her breakfast to an allowed public space. I complained to the manager but the staff speak very little English. They did apologize but offered nothing in return for not being made to feel welcomed or for the hotel not providing cover up items for her to wear for breakfast. The following day we booked their private boat tour. The day was great snorkeling and we enjoyed the day. But the boat was old and worn with no where to lounge comfortably for the 2 hours each way going to and from the island. We expected a boat with at least comfortable outdoor lounge spaces and none were available. On the last day we did try their in-room breakfast as we didn’t feel welcomed in the hotel areas. The breakfast was a feast!! But disappointed we had to eat our breakfast in our room, instead of enjoying the views of the ocean. Overall this hotel was a disappointment and wouldn’t recommend, or visit again. It’s important to note they take the no-visible tattoos very seriously. They do publicize this on their website but then offer no appropriate cover ups to use while staying (the ones they do provide in the room were still insufficient to use and then visit the public areas). Of note, my wife was made to feel shameful about her visible tattoos, but my two arm tattoos that were visible with my shirts were never commented on. Writing this review as we enjoy their expensive airport drop off service in their premium old white Toyota mini-van.

This is our second visit to Uza, our last stay being eight years ago, and it’s just as wonderful as we remembered. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful — exactly what we needed for a relaxing getaway. Though it was a bit quieter this time, we truly appreciated the tranquility The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Our room was spotless and well-maintained, and our son had a fantastic time playing in the jacuzzi. Breakfast offered a variety of choices, though I did miss the buffet from our previous visit Overall, the experience was top-notch, and my parents absolutely loved staying here. We’d definitely consider returning with our family again in the future!

Overall is good place. Food is delicious, specially in restaurant and is served in a beautiful way. Service is fast and polite, but personnel is speaking English very poorly-have to ask and explain several times. Is raining a lot in October, big humidity, no insects, only ants. Internet is bad here and is disconnecting all the time. Location is not convenient, far from airport and is nothing to do around.

This property is outstanding in terms of accommodation standard, facilities and food on offer. Some people say it is a little remote but for us this was one of its main attractions. Well away from the hustle and bustle of Naha yet close enough if you really wanted to make a day trip there or eat out in the evening. We didn’t!|The hotel very kindly provided a great free pickup service to and from Naha airport which was much appreciated. From the moment we arrived we were treated as valued customers by the wonderful staff. We stayed in one of the villas for two people with its own pool and separate sleeping quarters and lounge/kitchenette. It was huge and had everything you could possibly need. |We enjoyed swimming in our own pool as well as in the beautiful outdoor pool in the grounds. |I also went to Uza beach just outside the property to paddle in the clear lagoon at low tide. Just make sure you wear flip flops or water shoes to protect your feet from the sharp coral and other rocks. It is a great place to observe marine life.|I also enjoyed two complimentary exercise sessions in the early morning- SUP yoga in the swimming pool and stretch and relaxation. This was despite that instructions were mainly in Japanese. |The hotel is very convenient to enjoy walks to the nearby lighthouse and park area on the headland but go early as it becomes very hot later in the day. ||We mostly ate in the fine dining restaurant where the chef and his team provided the most exquisitely presented and tasty food - a cross between French/Italian and Okinawan. On two occasions we sampled the in-room dining, which was like being served in the restaurant. |We loved that so much of the food was locally sourced, including from their own organic farm just beside the hotel. We particularly enjoyed some of their seafood dishes in the evening such as the daily catch dish acqua pazza style but beware it is enormous. Their squid ink pasta and tiramisu okinawan style were also wonderful. |Breakfasts provided a great spread and plenty of choice especially of fruit and Japanese dishes. Breads tended to be white and French style but if you get a chance sample the purple potato bread rolls and purple potato margarine - in fact anything made from the famous okinawan purple potatoes!! Although the accommodation is pricey, the food even in the fine dining restaurant, is very reasonably priced. Given the size of portions we often only chose to eat one course. This was because of the complimentary drinks and snacks on offer in the sunset lounge every evening which we took great pleasure in enjoying. |We stayed 6 nights and by the time we left we felt we had acquired a new family. All staff were so welcoming, courteous and helpful- from the General Manager who spoke to us on a regular basis, to the cleaning staff. Particular mention must be made of Ashimine in Reception who welcomed us to the hotel and was very helpful on a number of occasions, not least, sorting out the timing of the cleaning of the room. In the restaurant Hiragana the restaurant manager could not do enough for us ensuring we always got the seat we wanted both at breakfast and in the evening. He explained the dishes to us and welcomed us every time as did the other staff such as Mazuda with real pleasure and bows. We also were privileged to meet the chef and his team who made a special point of coming out from the kitchen to show their appreciation of our custom. |The girls in the Sunset lounge also did a great job. |We were so sad to have to say goodbye to all the staff when we left. The fact that so many of them gathered to say goodbye and wave us off was testimony to the personal service they gave us. We cannot recommend this Relais and Chateau hotel enough and would love to return.

Extremely racist security guard refused me access to the whole area including the reception, which is appalling when interested in checking in to a resort. He also got on the phone in Japanese and referred to me in derogatory terms with a very unhelpful, judgmental tone. Racist beyond words. Appalling for such a resort. Low star scum of a security guard.

No one stay in this haunted place, coz it takes at least 45 mins to 1 hour from city centre to get to the hotel. Their staff can’t speak English and can’t communicate on simple request. We stayed in a villa with private pool and living room, BUT funny enough that the house rule doesn’t allow us to invite friends into our room, not even for a short tour!!! ||||Totally sucked experience!

AVOID AT ALL COST. HORRIBLE!! Went to visit a friend at this place and they refused to let us even near the hotel. We literally cant visit at all. Not even for a meeting or anything. They all literally stood there without any expression and unapologetic. For a hotel charging this price, it is extremely unacceptable. Horrible! Go to Ritz Carlton or wherever. Avoid this place!
