The Vagabond Bunkhouse is a beautiful old world style building, set in a tranquil area with a lovely forest backdrop. The staff are very friendly and the pizzas are some of the best we've ever had.
Location is perfect for exploring Betws-y-Coed and the surrounding areas. You can walk to the local restaurants, Spar, Londis and the station, where you can catch the excellent Sherpa'r bus to-and-from Snowdon if you're planning to hike up. An all-day 'bws' ticket for the family is £15, which is good value as you don't need to worry about parking at Snowdon.
Back at the Vagabond the rooms are pretty basic but clean and comfortable. The family room (sleeps 5) has two bunk beds: one with single up and down, and one with a single on top and a double (3/4) under. It also had a small basin but nothing more.
Being a bunk house the toilets and showers are communal. The dining area and deck have lovely wooden tables and are welcoming. The Vagabond serves pizza for supper and a full cooked breakfast (extra charges). Considering the limited menu I don't think they would have a problem if you bought your own food to eat there.
Pros: location, affordability, great staff.
Cons: not self catering, communal facilities.
