First time here and let me tell you, I'll definitely be returning! Beautiful, delicious cocktail, outstanding service, and very welcoming/relaxing atmosphere! Definitely a hidden gem!

Google
The bar cute and good vibe, we went in the weekend but it was not that busy, compared to Nashville lols, drinks was so good, we lucky to have and taste my favorite bourbon, it is so hard to find those bottle. I was order old fashioned first it turn out too sweet and bartender was happy to remake for us. There were 2 of them, one was supper friendly and knowledgeable, other one was rude and not really care for us, overall was good experience.

Google
A cool little spot that you'd never know was there... bourbon selection is perfect, they had some different drink recipes on menu, but can make whatever obviously. Check it out if you're into small, semi quiet top shelf liquor establishments. Service only got 4 due to waitress seeming like she wasn't really into being there at all.

Google
Cool spot for cocktails. Once you are able to find the building and then a parking spot, you are greeted with a hip vibe as you scan the drink menu. Friendly people with an extensive cocktail menu. There is also a large bourbon selection that lines the walls of this bar. I recommend giving this place a try as we enjoyed it. Be certain to use Google maps to find the facility.

We brought in 10 people and they accommodated us nicely. Craft drinks are amazing!

This is a real deal cocktail spot. It’s got sophistication but it’s cozy and super casual. The bartenders are extremely skilled mixologists, passionately crafting unique and expertly balanced cocktails! They use top notch spirits and fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu offers a blend of classic cocktails alongside new inventions. It’s always buzzing in there. Pat makes a mean Negroni. Since 2017 as BarKeep, they’ve been serving cocktails at pop-up events like sip n strip in Tower Grove, Mobot’s Garden Glow, Frosted, etc. This spot is their brick-and-mortar spot in the Grove. If you’re a newbie, don’t hesitate to ask tons of questions. If you’re an expert, this will be one of your favorite cocktail spots in the country.

Came here for my depression-themed birthday (39, get it?). Loved the ambiance, exactly what I was looking for. Had a good menu of cocktails and mocktails. This isn’t the place to party and get drunk. This is the place to sit and enjoy the company and drinks. Best French 75 I’ve ever had. Service was great and they were very accommodating for a large group with a little heads up. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to the Vandy. It's a place that is very well curated, from the way it's decorated to the drink presentation! When you enter through the nondescript front door, you are transported to a very cozy, intimate cocktail bar. It was busy, but they sat my group of 4 very quickly and the servers are so friendly even when they are busy. The drinks are unique and mixed to perfection. 2 of my friends got the Bee's Knees, and said it was unlike any other Bee's Knees they had had. I was very enamored by the clothes pin holding my garnish. They have a TV, but it's not a sports bar - it was playing a cooking show at first, and then the bartender switched it to miniature pig racing. Absolutely my kind of place!!

Yelp
The Vandy is a quaint and cozy cocktail bar located on the outskirts of The Grove. It's the perfect place for an intimate date night or happy hour with a small group of friends. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He was super helpful and helped us make the perfect drink choice. We got several appetizers, I really enjoyed the pimento cheese and the cheese board. My friend chose a mocktail and was very impressed with its flavor and balance. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Yelp
Great little cocktail bar right there in the Grove, walking distance to anything else you would want to check out in the area. They have an amazing cocktail menu, literally something for everyone. They also have an amazing selection of liquors. Their bar has plenty of seating but it can be pretty tight. I can only imagine what it sounds like when it gets busy. The service was fantastic and the bartenders were very personable. Drinks are handcrafted and made to perfection. My only complaint is the website didn't really promote their theme, which is fine, but then they were only serving their themed food menu. We had come for cocktails and a couple appetizers, but ended up leaving after one drink because we didn't really want anything off their special menu. We'll definitely have to come back again to try their regular menu.

Yelp
The Vandy is an amazing cocktail bar located in the grove. They do serve a few options for small bites but are primarily known for their signature hand-crafted cocktails. This was my fourth or fifth time here, and today I ordered the Saturn at the Disco, followed by the BRG which was recommended by the bartender. The Saturn at the Disco was Gin-forward but was smooth and balanced out by the light acidity of the lemon. The bartender indicated that the BRG is a close sister cocktail of the Saturn at the Disco, so I ordered this next. This drink was Lychee flavored, and a nice night cap to end my day. I continue to look forward to coming back here and trying new drinks!

Yelp
If you are looking for a great cocktail bar, this is the place to be! It's not very advertised from the street, so you have to know what you are looking for in order to find it! Parking is available (street parking) and you will only be a few steps away from the building entrance. Once you arrive, you can walk in and you will notice the bar and the bartenders mixing cocktails and the server(s) are moving around quickly. They will help you get a table or a seat at the bar and they let you know to scan the QR code for the list of cocktails. The night we went, there was also a Soul Soup pop up event so we were excited to have our dinner while enjoying the cocktails! In fact, I purposely planned our evening so that we could enjoy soup and drinks; it was a perfect Sunday evening partnership on a chilly night. Our server(s) were so friendly and helpful. They were so busy that I almost felt bad being there, but we were not in a rush so it was fine for us to just sit and hang out while waiting from drinks. We reviewed the menus and made our selections pretty quickly and then our server came over to take our orders. We tried a few different cocktails while were were visiting and for the last round of drinks, I opted for a mocktail since I had to be the driver so the server chose a mocktail for me based on my interests and it was honestly one of the best mocktails I have had. I can't wait to go back for more! When it was time to pay, we were able to pay right at the table with the server and then we were on our way. I honestly cannot wait for another visit here. The environment was so chill and it has a fun vibe that can be for a night out with friends or a romantic date setting. They also happy hour prices on Sunday and Monday for a specific list of drinks which was perfect to order from. I really hope this place can stick around because it's definitely something that STL needs!

Yelp
Love! Gave lowkey speakeasy vibes. Great ambiance with dim lit vibe but was still energetic. Drinks were great! I got the bees knees which I loved (not too sweet not too sour). Our table also got some old fashions, a hazy IPA, a spicy marg, and a mango murder mocktail and they all hit the spot! Highlight tho was DEFS the garlic bread!!! 10/10 defs recommend. Wish more came w one order but sooo good we got 3 orders :) service was great - very welcoming and checked on us throughout the night. Defs will come back!

Yelp
The Vandy opened its doors earlier this year (Jan 23'), making it one of the latest additions to the growing list of cocktail bars in St. Louis. It is located across from Rockwell Brewing Co. in an understated building that previously served as an office space for a local construction company. While the space is completely renovated inside and out, the owners maintained the original charm of the building by keeping the original exterior signage, which reads "John B. Gutmann Construction Co." This makes it a bit of a challenge to find initially, but contributes to the feel that the Vandy is a well kept secret among locals. The drink list features an array of classic and signature cocktails that reflect the full spectrum of spirits, liqueurs and bitters. In an effort to switch it up, I ordered the Street Chicken (Jagemeister, Wahaka Mezcal Resposado, Nixta Elote, Coco Lopez, Pineapple, Malic Acid). This cocktail was exceptionally crafted and is perfectly suited to fall due to its creamy texture and rich flavors of vanilla and caramel. If you're in the mood for tastings instead of cocktails, the Vandy also has a large collection of select whiskey on display that is available for 1oz pours, flights or for purchase. The only downsides to the Vandy are that 1) there is no designated parking, therefore street parking is the only parking option and 2) the Vandy does not have its own kitchen. However, to overcome this issue, the bar often collaborates with local businesses to bring food to guests. Overall, the Vandy is a great addition to the cocktail scene in St. Louis and I am looking forward to more visits to come!

Yelp
This was a highlight of our CWE and Grove neighborhood haunt. We walked from Urban Chestnut brewing to this subtlety cool neighborhood bar, off the beaten path & hidden behind a John E Gutman Construction Co. facade. But enter the doors and the coolest little speakeasy presents itself. The bartenders are true cocktail crafters. I enjoyed the Gin Gimlet LIKE GinBreezy and my husband enjoyed the Manhatten. We also shared a yummy warm blondie with ice cream and sugar crystals. This is where the cool kids go and honestly, we were grateful to be one of them!

Yelp
This is such a cute little spot. I've only visited once but am eager to revisit, especially now that I know they have a happy hour with a pretty extensive list of drinks. Really enjoyed both the flavor and presentation of the drinks we ordered. The staff was friendly and attentive. The only thing that I think needs a little attention is the food menu. I'm a snacker when I drink but the small menu didn't have a lot of options that seem to pair well with a cocktail. Chicken salad and garlic bread? I dunno! We went with the charcuterie board and were disappointed that it was just meats..some of which were really gamey. Charcuterie may traditionally be meat only but the "Americanized" version with some crackers and cheese to help balance the flavors out would have been a big improvement. I respect that The Vandy is a cocktail place and the drinks are rightfully the main focus, but sprucing up the food menu a bit may get me to stick around for longer rather than stopping by for a drink before moving on to the next place for apps/dinner.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday night, it wasn't very busy but the vibe is nice, the place is clean and the drinks are very good. I only 2 drinks off the happy hour menu (all day Sunday and Monday), but both were great values and the bartender was a great conversationalist. Definitely getting some more visits from me in the near future.

Yelp
Inconspicuous, if you blink on your way down Vandeventer, you'll miss it. Once you find your way, you definitely won't be disappointed. The Vandy has to have some of the friendliest bar staff I've ever encountered. I was greeted warmly by several team members on my way in. I took a seat at the bar, menu is on QR code. The drinks are organized by liquor type: gin, rum, whisky/bourbon etc. I went with the Epic Holiday for my first cocktail. Cinnamon, ginger, and sage combined to make for an amazing cocktail. My second cocktail was The Office Party, a gin based cocktail. I will preface this by saying I do not like gin at all. The overwhelming floral taste is off putting and I've never been a fan. The Office Party uses a peppered gin which took the flavor profile in a different direction. Lime juice and mango heavy syrup made this next level and thoroughly enjoyable. There are a select number of cocktails on draft. They also offer flights of bourbon and whiskey. There is definitely something for everyone! The Vandy has a small menu of snacks and bites. I tried the chicken fried oysters with a herb aioli. The flavors paired well together. These were not my favorite as the oysters were still a bit wet even after frying. This made for a soft texture consistent with a raw oyster instead of a deep fried one. I also tried the pimento cheese and crackers. This was absolutely perfect and full of flavor. There are also olive and veggie plate, a small charcuterie, and a ham biscuit that is on the top of my list for next time.

Yelp
This is the perfect little spot for a casual girls cocktail night or a romantic date. The cocktails were delicious and one of the best old fashioned's my partner has ever had and he's an old fashioned type of guy. The Paloma was perfect for my taste. The service was great! They were super nice and attentive to us. The vibe of this place was incredible. It's both cozy and casual yet makes you feel fancy at the same time. Highly recommend and will be coming back

Yelp
What a fun little find! This cocktail bar is tucked away in a completely innocuous building that looks like you're entering a post office (I actually had to peek in the window to make sure it was a bar). It's kind of a little speakeasy vibe. It almost looks like someone's hip little basement bar when you go in. They have a great bourbon selection and a nice selection of cocktails. If you're a bit of a cheapskate like me, the cocktails are definitely pricey. However, this isn't your typical dive bar "drink," these are fancy craft cocktails. The bartenders are super cool, too. We enjoyed chatting them up. We'll definitely hit this place up again.

Yelp
I'm so excited about this place! It's about time we had a true cocktail bar that lives up to its name. The Vandy is a small cocktail bar right at the corner of Talamage and Vandeventer. If you drive too fast, you will absolutely pass it. There's bar seating and tables when you walk in. It's very cozy, but it's definitely a classic cocktail bar. The bourbon selection was phenomenal! I included a couple of pictures of the bourbons that I really liked that they had. They also make good house cocktails. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for the classic cocktail bar, and don't want to be overwhelmed by a huge menu of food, too much noise, or people who don't really know how to order drinks lol.
google avatar

Nicholas P.

Yelp
The drinks are delicious and creative, there is a wide variety of spirits and the cocktails are tasty! If you are a whiskey drinker then this is your place. The service was quick and drinks came out very fast. The bar is small and cozy, would recommend giving it a try if you're in the area.

Yelp
Finally was able to make it to the Vandy, a new lil baby from STL Barkeep which I've had around town at pop-ups and at Such and Such farm for their farm-to-table dinner with Farm Spirit. The cocktails were very good and I love the space. I also like how it's sort of hidden off of Vandeventer Ave., and you wouldn't even know it was there unless you knew it was there! We love an off-the-radar gem! :) It was also Taco Tuesday and they offer tacos from Boss Taco. I had two and they were pretty good. My friend had the Aeropuerto and we both had the Tower Grove Smash. I also had a drink from the Mardi Gras menu called a Vieuz Carre which was great. It tasted like a light, sweet Old Fashioned. I don't like ordering on my phone (for the food), so that is why it gets four stars. Def. will be back! It's a star.

Yelp
Visited for a happy hour with coworkers. Such a cute place inside with an upscale-casual feel if that makes any sense. You could dress a little nice, but you don't have to. It's bright inside with a nice ambiance, music playing but not too loud, and super friendly, kind staff. There are a ton of drink options and it's fine to go off-menu too. Cocktail pricing is normal for fancy cocktails and there are some less expensive options too like beer or cocktails on tap. We had a great time.

Yelp
The Vandy will soon become your new favorite cocktail bar. @thevandystl (on Instagram) is where you can find all your favorite @barkeep.us cocktails. They just opened in mid-January 2023. Located at 1301 S Vandeventer Ave, STL near the Grove and across the street from Rockwell Brewing. My favorite drinks from Bar Keep have always been their margaritas with seasonal flavors. When I visited they had a blood orange margarita. But my NEW favorite drink might be their tropical-ish drink "Snow Birds" with a rum blend, orgeat, and lime. I'm headed to the islands! If you're into non-alcoholic cocktails, they got you. Ask Pat Gioia the bartender with the giant beard behind the bar to mix you up something special with one of their NA liquors. He's a brand ambassador for Bare Zero and makes a delicious zero proof cocktail. There's something for everyone! Vibe: it's a bar for people in their 30s that just want to sit down. No loud music, no crazy folks. Just great cocktails with quality ingredients.

Yelp
This place was amazing! I mean, it's hard to find the front door, but that only adds to the fun. Our server was so cool. No criticisms.

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday night with a friend, and the place was pretty empty. It was mildly difficult to find the building because the signage reads "John B. Gutmann Construction Co." with "The Vandy" etched ever so slightly on the door - definitely couldn't see it from the road. There is also free street parking just to the right of the building. The inside is designed really well, and the bathrooms are painted nicely. Service was incredibly quick, and I'd be curious to see how it is on a busy night. I had the old fashioned, and my friend had the bee's knees, the toucanfusion, and the save a hearse. The old fashioned was pretty standard, so for 14$, perhaps slightly overpriced. I'm not big on sweet drinks, so I was not a fan of the bee's knees, the toucanfusion was fine though I wouldn't order it myself, but the save a hearse was actually pretty good. The staff even said they could throw together off-menu drinks so long as they had the ingredients. Otherwise, we also go the something southern (pimento cheese & crackers), which was really good but a bit comical for the price. This place is a hidden gem aside from my critiques, and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
The love I have for this place and the wonderful people who work here and run it knows no bounds. At The Vandy you'll find surprisingly upscale, creative cocktails and a vibe that feels effortlessly cool and chill. They've managed the perfect balance of elevated and relaxed. The snack menu is small but delivers impressive little bites that you'd expect to find at the type of restaurant you wait months to get a reservation at. The cocktails are unique and well balanced. You don't have to worry about getting a syrup heavy surgery sweet cocktail here - unless you ask for one because they're super nice and will work with you to create something for your pallet if you don't see anything on the menu you want. They typically offer table service, so when you walk in just hang at the front of the bar for a moment and someone will point you towards a seat for you and your party and then someone will come to you for orders! It's a small space and seating is somewhat limited so I wouldn't recommend it for big groups. 2-4 are the perfect numbers with how tables are set up but we showed up with 6 one night and got lucky with there being an open space so they accommodated us without a problem. One of the things I love most here is the vibe. A lot of places that serve up top notch cocktails feel a little bit more formal, or lately you need reservations for a lot of spots - not at the vandy. They find weird yet enjoyable stuff to put on their TV that just adds to the laid back vibe in an otherwise elevated space. Last week it was the senior dog agility show and at one point the whole bar was cheering for this old dog that the bartender said was her favorite. A few weeks before that it was the marble Olympics. It's not something I've ever considered before but that extra thought they put in really makes this place feel so welcoming and approachable. When you're looking for it from the outside, know there are no big lit up signs. Instead there is a small nondescript sign that you'll struggle to see in the dark. You might notice the original carpenters sign on the building before you do theirs. Its kind of like a speakeasy vibe. It just adds to the fact that this bar is STL's best kept secret. This is a perfect place for a date, or post dinner drinks. It's our regular go to cocktail bar. The only *warning* I have is that this is a bar that puts a lot of thought and artistry into their cocktails and bites menu. If you want a $5 rail vodka soda and jalapeño poppers- this isn't that spot. Though the people who work here wonderful and in my experience will make you almost anything you ask for. But just look at the menu and you'll get the jist. Check out their socials/website for any updates or specials like industry night. Love this place. Go there, be adventurous, be nice and tip well! PS- the pimento cheese! Just get it.

Yelp
I've always loved BarKeep cocktails at the Tower Grove Farmers Market and the Friday night pop ups, so I am so happy for them for having their own brick & mortar spot! I've been twice now in a group and both experiences were great. Stellar service, a cozy set up, and of course killer cocktails. I know they have snacks featuring different pop ups and also a variety of NA cocktails.

Yelp
We stopped in here for after dinner cocktails/mocktails. Love the vibe of this hidden gem, cute clean bathrooms, and yummy drinks. We liked that they had a selection of mocktails on the menu and were so friendly from the moment we arrived. The service was great treated us like old friends and made great recommendations- very knowledgeable about their craft! Even made options not on the menu that they thought we'd enjoy. Apparently it's pretty busy on Fridays- but we came on a Saturday night, there were a few couples at the bar, not loud or crowded.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
I fell in love with the Vandy as soon as we walked in. It's super unassuming from the outside. If you drove past it not knowing what it was, you'd never guess and I love that. The inside is charming and cozy. On a Friday night at 7pm there was a decent crowd, that filled the room with a nice buzz of conversation. Our server (Brandon?) was absolutely awesome. Attentive and super personable. They have an awesome cocktail list, and an impressive selection of Whiskey as well as some other high end spirits. The cocktails we ordered were absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend the tower grove smash. I'm sad we did only have time for one drink as we popped in before a dinner reservation. Definitely look forward to going back, and can see the Vandy definitely being a place I'll frequent!
google avatar

Margarita F.

Yelp
Love this place! There's been a lot of talk about it, and I finally got to go. We came at about 9 pm on a Saturday, and there were plenty of seats. The inside is really cute (the outdoor sign is the only thing that's missing!). The service was quick, and they even remembered my friends from when they came a couple of weeks prior. I got Beekeeper's Bourbon Cider -- delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It almost felt like a speakeasy vibe since it really isn't marked from the outside. We stopped in to enjoy a pop-up: Damn Fine Hand Pies. The space is really chic and simple with 2 amazing bathrooms painted with gorgeous murals. The cocktails were on point and the staff was over-the-top friendly and conversational. Loved our experience and hope to return!
google avatar

Jonah M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now and I've loved it every time. I learned in Sunday they do a pizza pop up with amazing pizzas to paid with your cocktail. The drinks are hand made by great bartenders from the minds of STL Barkeep. It's a great date spot or just a chill evening with friends. They have a NA menu as well for our sober curious friends.
google avatar

Ebbi N.

Yelp
The cocktails at The Vandy are delicious and well balanced. I'm a Burbon cocktail girly who appreciates a spirit forward drink. The Vandy nails it every time! Their mixologists are extremely knowledgeable about different types of alcohol. They also deliver attentive service. The place itself is clean, calm and well decorated. All in All, The Vandy is a vibe. Shout out to STL Barkeep, as they are also the Founders of the place.
google avatar

Darion R.

Yelp
Their drinks are amazing, and I love that they have happy hour all day on Sundays and Mondays!
google avatar

Phillip W.

Yelp
If you like bourbon, this is a good place to be. My buddies and I were bar hopping one night and we peeked in to see what was going in, so glad we did. Everybody liked their drinks, including the curmudgeon among us. Small detail but memorable: they served my whiskey with a very classy ice-cube laser engraved with an elegant V. Well, it might not have been lasers, but I couldn't figure it out. It's attention to detail that adds class, and the Vandy is a classy cocktail lounge set in an intimate space that strikes the right balance between fancy and casual.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
This place is super cute! They have good cocktails, fun trendy bar, fun bartenders and in a good location. I will say they are tricky to find because the name on the building is for a construction company. Either way it's still worth checking out!
google avatar

Michaela E.

Yelp
I had never heard of The Vandy and I feel like it's a hidden gem! When I initially pulled up I had to circle around the block because I wasn't sure where it was, but it is the old building on the corner that has another name on the building. When I walked in I feel in love with the place. It is small, but very nice. The staff are super helpful and very nice. I like that their menus are QR and the menu is in different categories. They have a good selection of non alcoholic drinks as well! I have told several friends we must go back!

Laura T.

Yelp
Super fun speakeasy! We loved the delightful cocktails and great service. Looking forward to making this a regular spot.

Jason E.

Yelp
Great vibe and service, extensive selection of top-shelf liquor, and awesome menu of drinks!

Robert P.

Yelp
Non-descript appearance from the street, but fabulous inside. Maybe the best pure bar I have found in ages. Great cocktail menu, but especially a good place for whiskey drinkers. Welcoming staff.

Brett and Michaela E.

Yelp
Everything about this place feels both like a special night out and a cozy night in at the same time. Drinks were creative and delicious without being showy. Clear attention to detail in all aspects of the environment and the drinks. It's a little tricky to spot, but that just adds to the feel of ha kng found something special. it's worth looking for. We will definitely be back!

D K.

Yelp
Well what a great find. Meeting friends for a cocktail. If you don't know where you're going, good luck! Turned my drink choices over to Eric and what a great decision. Great whiskey cocktail with aperitif and amaro, great bourbon aged cask gin cocktail with wine reduction(please don't take it off the menu!!!) and a sazerac. All amazing. Truly. I'm a wine guy and rarely have a cocktail because they tend to be same-same. Thanks for a great cocktail hour Eric!!!

Janet K.

Yelp
Great cocktails and cool bartenders. Perfect sized space. They had me at a cocktail with Red Hot Riplet seasoning! Will definitely be back!

James L.

Yelp
Excellent spot that was much needed in this neighborhood. The cocktail menu focuses on the Classics. The Sazerac was possibly the best I ever had. Solid whiskey selection at reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
