Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City Review | Hotels Above Par

"Housed in what was once an actual bank vault, The Vault is the Kimpton’s on-site 40-seat lounge where I enjoyed high-quality cocktails—both classic and inventive—served among plush seating and a grand mahogany bar, its concept intentionally nodding to the building’s banking history." - Joey Skladany

Great service and drinks! We visited on a Friday and found the atmosphere quiet and relaxed, which we really enjoyed. The appetizers were delicious, and the drinks were spot-on. The pasta, however, was a bit salty and undercooked for our taste. What really stood out was the manager—he personally introduced himself and offered several thoughtful solutions to make things right. That level of service is rare these days and definitely appreciated. Overall, we’d recommend the restaurant and would go back.

I’ve visited this location three times and ordered steak on each visit. While the flavor has consistently been excellent, the temperature has been a recurring issue, the steaks have arrived at about room temperature every time. The fries were also only lukewarm, never hot. On my third visit, I asked that the steak not be rested in hopes it would come out hotter, but it didn’t make a difference. Both the steak and fries were still barely warm. It seems the kitchen may be struggling to get food out promptly, as this was a repeated issue across all three visits. I want to emphasize that the seasoning and overall flavor were great, but the temperature really detracted from the experience. If it weren’t for the credit card benefits, I would have been genuinely frustrated to receive cold food on multiple occasions. Service was slow as well, though the restaurant was busy.

A nice cocktail bar / lounge in Salt Lake City in the Monaco hotel. Service is good & attentive and the ambiance. My steak frites were cooked perfectly but founded the food to be a bit too salty. If they slightly reduced the amount of salt on the food it will be better. Overall will come again just for cocktails.

The Vault was such a gem we came across during our trip to Salt Lake City. With a party of 20 people and reservation issues at another bar, we decided to see if The Vault would take us. It was a great decision. The bartender, Benjamin "Ben," seamlessly handled our party of 20's drink orders, fit us in with the rest of the already busy bar, and was very personable. We loved the cocktails, vibes, and service here.

For a hotel bar, this is the most pristine I’ve seen in a while. I love a gin type of drink and I simply asked for that and our bartender (I wish I remembered his name but I believe he was Serbian) made me one of the best gin forward drinks I’ve ever had in the US. The drinks in general here are pretty well balanced too. Had some of the duck confits too, not bad at all from the kitchen. But would return solely for the drinks.

Drinks were amazing - however the burger & fries I ordered were so damn salty I only got through half of both

The bar was beautiful and cozy. My boyfriend had the smoked old fashioned and it was excellent, very well done. I had the sazerac, which was okay, but really had no absinthe flavor which is a big miss for me. The bartender was really great and attentive. My complaint-not necessarily the bar, but the hotel outside the bar smelled so overpowering like a cheap plug in air freshener. It really made me not want to go in the bar.

Atmosphere was perfect. Exactly how you imagine a classic hotel bar. The drinks were perfectly crafted. Nick was very personable. I forget the other bartenders name tonight (which is stupid of me because all bartenders wear nametags in Utah), but he showed traits that I look for in a bartender. The bar was fully stocked. If there was a cocktail they weren't familiar with, they took great care to make it precisely and balanced. 10 out of 10. Will recommend when I have family visit.
