This was very nice and CLEAN place to stay with our dogs. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only problem I had was no coffee in the morning. They do have an area for you to make your own however it was only decaf and no creamer to be found. A minor issue in comparison to being able to stay with our dogs. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. |I would recommend and would return.

I never got a chance to review this wonderful little inn after my stay, but am giving my review now that I am looking to book another stay with them. This is the cutest, little cozy place I have ever been to. The room we stayed in was perfect. The bed and pillows were so comfy. Our breakfast was delicious and a nice start to our day. The couple that run the inn are so sweet and very helpful. They added to my enjoyment of Vermont. The one, tiny issue we had with the fireplace was fixed in a matter of minutes. They also gave us wonderful recommendations for the area. The best, non-chain, place to stay!!

Sad to be leaving the Vermont Inn today. We have had a very quiet and comfortable stay. It was off season for the surrounding community, so a great time for us as traffic was light and the restaurants were slow. Our hosts have been wonderful and very responsive to our requests. Thank you for being a very memorable part of our vacation plans! Great breakfast!

This place is great! My wife and I booked our trip here to join the thousands of people who watched the eclipse. Our dog sitter bailed last minute, and I called to verify that my dog could stay with us for our two day duration, and they were able to make accommodations pretty quickly! The proprietors, a husband and wife, were lovely folks to chat with. They inquired about our breakfast preference and, when we told them we were leaving early in the morning, had everything packed and waiting for us at the check-in counter: Two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, a bunch of fruit, and a few Clif bars, to get us through the morning and afternoon. How thoughtful! The building is old, so a little creaky (which would occasionally set off my little corgi's danger radar), but it's got a ton of charm. The price was also pretty reasonable. Highly recommend, and will definitely make another visit in the future. Thank you folks!

Me and my husband stayed here because we won a bid at a gala for a 2 night stay here. We flew in from the west coast and made a trip out of it and toured VT and some of Boston. After spending a couple days in Boston, the quiet stay at Vermont Inn was exactly what we needed. The room was a great size for the two of us and we were able to see more of the east coast that we had never seen before. The hosts were so helpful and kind. We didn't do much around the Inn so I can't say much about what to do in the area. We did drive highway 100 which was suggested to us and that was a lovely drive for a Saturday. It seems of you're looking to be in the country and want some space, this is a great fit. You do have to drive at least 10 min to find somewhere to eat for dinner. Our bed was comfortable and breakfast was fantastic!

Yelp
The Vermont Inn is such a cute place to stay in the Killington area. The location is beautiful with a great view of the mountains. And at night there is so little light pollution you can see all the stars. Very pretty! The room we stayed in (Forest Glen) is cozy and pretty basic, but it did its job well. The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

Yelp
My family spent two nights at The Vermont Inn and our experience far surpassed our expectations. The Inn is charming and warm. There are many cozy public rooms to sit, play board games, read or just talk. The hosts Mike and Kayla were very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
We had to change our plans at the last minute. So we found the Vermont Inn with one room available so we took it. When we arrived we were greeted by Amy who informed us that she and her husband, Dave, have become the new innkeepers just in the past two weeks. Well, they certainly have picked the right profession. They could not have been more accommodating. They assisted us in every aspect of our five-day trip. Suggesting restaurants, having relaxed conversations with us regarding everything Vermont. A delicious full Vermont breakfast was served to us every morning with two or three choices. We skied at Killington and did our cross country at the Woodstock Inn and Mountain Meadows. Everything was perfect. Amy and her husband Dave even sponsored a Super Bowl party for us that Sunday evening. In summary the Vermont Inn is a gem. Amy and Dave bend over backwards to keep their customers happy and relaxed. The rooms are clean, warm and well accommodated. We even had our own jacuzzi! We can't wait to go back next year!

Yelp
We went during a down period in November, so maybe the price was low and we had the place to ourselves... But my wife and I were able to enjoy to whole place! The hot tub was hot and cozy. The sauna was really cool, though being in a hallway was awkward at first. The game room had a cheap air hockey table but after 5 games, who cares. Great time playing that. And that room had a whole bunch of board games! We suggest the circle word game. They have a TV room too with a lot of VHS and DVD movies. We watched Airplane! And plenty of rooms full of books. Even more... There is a bar open late. Soup served all night. Breakfast is continental for those that ordered online and that plus ordered food for those that book directly. Lastly, all the staff is nice and ready to help. The gym is passable, especially for a tall guy on an elliptical, because my head could touch the ceiling!

Yelp
The Vermont Inn was not what it was cracked up to be.The hot tub... Not open.... The Bed.. feels like a bird nest, the middle is way to sunken... The hallways.. Too skinny for 2 people to walk down...The walls.. Super thin. The food is Expensive and small portions. If you book on tripadvisor your meals are NOT free (which was not listed online). Lastly, they are not completely dog friendly like They state on Tripadvisor. Since the Tripadvisor stated that it was dog friendly.. You would think the building is dog friendly. I booked our room 3 months in advance and left a note on the trip advisor for The Vermont Inn that we will be bringing our two dogs. I used to run a hotel and know that the tripadvisor shows the notes to the hotel.. They denied seeing a note and that Tripadvisor does not do that, WRONG! At check in the Hosts Watched us walk the dogs into the hotel and even greeted us all. They decided to not say anything to us when we were checking in about our dogs. They waited for us to stay a whole night and then decided to kick us out and not refund us for our WEEK vacation. After a long discussion they refused to refund us and tripadvisor was no help either. Then, they proceeded to bill us an extra 100 dollars, as if keeping $900 dollars wasn't enough! All in all I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Even if you don't have a dog the hotel is not worth it. They stole all of our money and didn't care. We then had to cancel our Christmas Vacation and drive home because of how inconsiderate and money hungry The Vermont Inn was.

Yelp
The Vermont Inn is easy to get to, and close to everything you want it n the Rutland area. About 1/4 mile from the Killington Access Road. Great rooms: Spacious, great views, some with gas fireplaces, and comfortable beds. A real Inn since the at least the 1940's. A wood fireplace in the Breakfast Room, and the cooked to order breakfast is delicious. Independently owned and operated. Michael, the owner, and his daughter Janeen we're great hosts. I stayed around MKL Day, 2022, and the price was competitive.

Yelp
This place is a slice of heavenly peace on earth. The place is beautifully made and maintained. The managers Mike and Emily are extremely gracious and friendly, anything you need they can help you with. Room is beautiful, clean, spacious and the bed is super comfortable. I highly recommend you getaway from it all and head there for a weekend. I'm definitely going back

Deborah K.

Yelp
This place is like a home away from home. The Innkeepers Dave and Amy go out of the way to make it feel warm, inviting, and restful. From the sweet decor and breathtaking view to the made-with-love breakfasts you'll want to come to The Vermont Inn and never leave!

Sam M.

Yelp
If one were to dream of the quintessential Vermont bed and breakfast it would the Vermont Inn. Extremely cozy, the owners are friendly and attentive, the rooms are clean, and the food is great. Very close to Killington and great for a weekend ski trip. Looking forward to coming back.

Noureen Q.

Yelp
My second time here was even better than the first! I spent a night here in 2016 and just spent the weekend here with my husband. We weren't able to see Emily or Mike this time but the stay was just as amazing. The rooms are all so cozy! The hot tub, game room, reading nook, movie room, and pool are all just added perks to make you never want to leave! The Inn is centrally located to tons of local restaurants and shops making it an ideal location. The inn keepers Amy and Dave were extremely personable, helping us start a fire in the pit for s'mores and relaxing time! We will be back! Thank you!

Bri L.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? Our entire experience from beginning to end was an absolute blessing. The second you pull up to The Vermont Inn, you feel at home. Amy & Dave are truly two of the kindest people we have ever come across, and their generosity and graciousness continued to shine throughout the entire trip. Their slogan is "Come in guests, leave as family." Boy was this true! They go above and beyond their roles as Inn Keepers to ensure that your experience is top notch. We spent as much time as we could chatting with Dave & Amy and just genuinely enjoying good conversation and our time together. They even made dinner for themselves one night and asked us to join them. Not to mention that they make homemade soup and fresh baked cookies daily, and offered two kinds of soup and hot dogs two nights in a row due to weather potentially keeping people in. Their hospitality is one of a kind, and while we have stayed at a handful of B&Bs, their kindness and giving ways shine above the rest. When my boyfriend and I got stranded at the mountain due to car issues, Dave picked up oil, drove it to us, jumped the car, and followed us back to the B&B to ensure we made it there safely. I could go on and on about our amazing experience with these incredible people and their inn, but I will simply end by saying that if you are coming to the area, The Vermont Inn needs to be your stay of choice. Thank you so much Amy & Dave for all you did for us- we can't wait to return!

Chris B.

Yelp
We had a short stay Oct 7-9 with another couple and had a great time! The Vermont Inn is so quaint. Rustic but with all the modern conveniences. It was just so peaceful and restful. The mattresses were great and we slept well. The rooms were large and comfortable. Great hospitality by all. Breakfast was wonderful. We plan to go back!

Claudia T.

Yelp
We travelled to Vermont for a wedding at the Mountain Top Resort and due to late booking and it being extremely expensive the groom recommended the Vermont Inn. That was the best recommendation ever, we got to the Inn very late and hungry. Amy made us tuna fish sandwiches and while hanging out at the bar they gave us snacks. Breakfast was delicious and nothing compares with the service and hospitality that we received. Definitely will be back with the family.

Jack B.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!! The hospitality is above and beyond!! We got LIED TO by the dump hotel across the street, KILLINGTON PICO MOTOR INN, but this Vermont Inn is just awesome!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants a real Vermont-style quiet peaceful rest.

Michael E.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY NOT. NO WAY. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER NEVER NEVER. You don't think you'll have the worst restaurant experience of your year on December 25... I mean what are the odds. The Vermont Inn is a joke - absolutely highway robbery. I'm not going to waste anymore of my time railing about how god awful the service was - all I'm going to say is that for $30 a plate, you'd expect your steak not to be .5 inches thick, frozen, bought from the supermarket, and/or way over cooked. STAY AWAY.

Maureen F.

Yelp
My husband and I spent 3 nights here on our "babymoon" in January. Mike and Emily set us up with a couple's message at a nearby spa the day we arrived and also had Vermont cheeses and sparkling apple cider waiting in our room. Mike gave us a great dinner suggestion our first night there and Emily told us about several neat little places to visit when we had some down time. Sunday night was the New England v. Denver football game. We joined the rest of the folks staying at the inn at the bar. Mike and Emily brought their TV out to enjoy the game, drinks were half price, and there was pizza! It was nice being able to stay in rather than having to hunt down a bar with an open seat to each the game. The breakfast each morning was great. I highly suggest the french toast! It was so good I had it each morning. Aside from the breakfast, each evening Mike puts out hot apple cider and cookies. The peanut butter cookies were by far the best (in my opinion). Everyone looked forward to the cookies at the end of the day. We loved the Vermont Inn and will return in the future.

Yelp
What a gem of a place to stay! We stayed overnight on our way to Maine. They were so welcoming and we loved the area. Breakfast was spectacular, so delicious. Will definitely stay again as we pass through. Only issue was the air conditioner would not come on. Opened the windows and it was nice that night so it wasn't a make or break deal.

Kurt M.

Yelp
Their dining room is rustic and welcoming. We loved the french onion soup and the conversation with the inn owner, Mitch. The inn is just down the road from Killington and relatively close to Woodstock. This is indeed the true Vermont experience! http://www.vermontinn.com/

Jisang K.

Yelp
I came here during a trip a year ago. The managers were super friendly, and the place is very, very well managed. The rooms were tidy and spacious; I had a cozy experience during my visit at The Vermont Inn.

Ann Marie J.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay! The staff are warm & friendly and very attentive! Breakfasts were delicious! We would certainly return if we find ourselves in the area!

Alex B.

Yelp
What a wonderful stay at the Vermont Inn. Met family here and spent a wonderful couple of days. The breakfast was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable, the innkeepers were incredibly hospitable, and the scenery was beautiful. I believe that when I return to Vermont, this is going to become one of my go-to places.

Moira M.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. So close to everything and the rooms are super charming, the breakfast was fantastic! I'll be back for sure!!

Frank C.

Yelp
We spent two nights in The Vermont Inn for our bi-weekly ski trip to Killington. The place is clean and cozy. The staffs are all warm and friendly. We had a minor issue with the sheets, and it was immediately addressed. We also tried the restaurant, breakfasts and dinners are all seasoned properly made from local ingredients. We stayed at other hotels, motels, and B&Bs over the past 10 years in the region. This is easily hands down, one of the best place to stay for a relaxing weekend. We will definitely be back for future visits.

Lisa W.

Yelp
The Vermont Inn, with Emily and Michael as my hosts, made my 1st visit to VT a magical one. This inn SO reminded me of the inn from the move "White Christmas". Prior to my trip, they provided me with answers to many travel questions, and were so welcoming and friendly and flexible. And the breakfasts each morning were a treat in themselves, not to mention the home baked cookies each afternoon. I would definitely recommend booking one of their lovely rooms if traveling to this area, and look forward to returning to see the fall foliage.

Krista S.

Yelp
I frequent Killington often, after reading the rave yelp reviews I thought I found another getaway spot in a great location across from Pico. But, after this hotel was on "Hotel Impossible" I'm sure they had some PR work done. We stayed in the Windhaym suite, cigarette smell permeated the room, we opened the windows to try and relinquish the smell and quickly saw the culprit: workers smoking directly below our open windows... please designate a spot for smoking outside the hotel lines, maybe 50 paces beyond the playscape? The family running the VT Inn is sweet and didn't charge extra for the "suite" upgrade from the Groupon we bought after I brought up the issue. Also, some deep cleaning needs to happen (bugs in lights, mold in shower, dust/dirt in easy to see areas) The Mattress could use a softer padding on top, it was severely firm I couldn't sleep. Pros were the jacuzzi tub and fireplace.

Ashley C.

Yelp
3/25/15 Dear Michael and Emily, Thank you for a fabulous night at your cozy Inn! After searching and searching online to find an Inn and room which met my high standards, I came across The White Birches Suite at The Vermont Inn. Wondering, "Ok, how far away is this Vermont Inn going to be?" I laughed when I found my answer....Mendon! Too funny because we actually live in the tiny town! I continued to book a reservation for the night of March 18th for my Husband's 30th Birthday and surprised him with my idea to "get away". We arrived at the Vermont Inn at 2pmon our scheduled check-in day (we wanted to take advantage of our private, kid-free evening every moment that we could!) and were warmly welcomed by Michael. After checking in he gave us a quick tour of the Inn showing us the dining area, game room, reading nook, hot tub, and finally our room. I was worried that the online pictures would turn out to be better than the real-life room, as pictures online can sometime be misleading .... But boy was I pleasantly surprised! The White Birches Suite was way beyond my expectations! It had a subtle but pleasant scent (what IS that, by the way??), soft lighting, a cozy fireplace, big relaxing Jacuzzi tub, a large inviting bed with lots of pillows, and a bottle of champagne. My husband and I have been married for six years and our son was 3 months old at our wedding so we never had the luxury of taking a honeymoon. The night we spent at The White Birches Suite felt like a much needed Honeymoon to us! We kept saying, "We have to do this EVERY year!" and "I can't wait to come back here again!" as well as, "I don't want to leave!". Thank you, thank you, thank you for a night we will never forget! We look forward to many more memories at The Vermont Inn!

Susan F.

Yelp
Tim's a great inn keeper. Super accommodating. Nice homey place - like staying at gramdma's. . Good homemade breakfast. Would definitely stay here again

Ori W.

Yelp
There service was excellent, the food was great. My friend and I came here on a last minute getaway trip and this was or first stop. Our waitress Sam was on the money from the wine to the food. The manager Mike was great and friendly. I had the rib eye and my friend had the seafood pasta, we both cleaned our plates. The pink piggy wine is a must try.

Jen L.

Yelp
The Vermont Inn hosted our family reunion for 35 people ages 1 through 95 last weekend. Mike and Emily were amazing. They have owned the place for about a year, owning an inn on the beach before this one. They sure know their stuff! Mike does all the cooking and is amazing. All you can eat hot chocolate chip cookies every afternoon, fresh sweet breads and sliced fruit to hold you over until the 8:30am breakfast. The french toast special (mixed berry and apple) for each morning we were there were mouth watering. Emily went above and beyond, always showing up at the right time to offer toys for the pool or to take the group picture. She was always available, not overbearing like some inn keepers can be. Each room has a unique layout so you can find what works best for your group. There is a creek that runs along the back of their property that was a fun adventure for our little guys. There were plenty of break out rooms - reading nook, screen porch, fireplaced living room, etc - for quiet conversations, as well as larger areas for bigger gatherings. Something for everyone! The building is old and places show it's age, but this historic building is clean, owners friendly and location fantastic

Nicholas T.

Yelp
This is still a wonderful place to stay! By far my favorite inn in Killington!!! The staff is unbelievably friendly! The staff will accommodate some tweaks you want to your breakfast. Like, if you want a sausage omelet rather than an Italian omelet, they will do that for you, even though the sausage omelet isn't of the menu that day. The menu for breakfast does change between different pancakes, omelets, and french toast! The breakfast and dinner are out of this world delicious! They even have a spa and a pool! Also, comfortable beds, good movies, and a lot of books! The Vermont Inn also has TV and free wifi! I highly recommend coming to this wonderful inn!!!

Mark W.

Yelp
Michael and Emily are the finest of hosts! My wife and I had stayed at The Vermont Inn several times previous (once with our dog, who was also very happy there!). In late September we had a family wedding to attend nearby. We recommended The Vermont Inn to several family members. There ended up being more than a dozen of us for several days. A fine time was enjoyed by all. Greatest breakfasts and service, Michael and Emily and Crystal and ... Jackie. Thank you for making the special occasion work out so well!

charlotte G.

Yelp
Really enjoyed having dinner here. There is a nice lobby and bar area to sit in and relax. Not crowded at all, although we did make a reservation prior to going really wasn't needed on a friday night in march. The building is very old, but very cute. The dining room was very homey and the owner was quite pleasant to talk with. My family ordered the steak and a fish dish- the meals were good, however I would recommend the turkey and chicken dishes which looked amazing when the people next to us got them, I think that is more the type of thing they specialize in. Good mixed drinks as well, def more of a family environment than some of the party places in killington. Prices were very reasonable for someone coming from NYC.

K M.

Yelp
Emily and Michael, the innkeepers were awesome. My boyfriend and I stayed here for almost a week recently for his birthday and enjoyed every day. The breakfasts were definitely a highlight and dinner at the restaurant was good too. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

P K.

Yelp
This is a lovely and very well situated hotel. The room was charming and well appointed with amenities. The breakfast was amazing! The owners are very helpful with showing us around and providing excellent dinner recommendations. Loved the hot tub. Would come back for sure!

Andy A.

Yelp
This restaurant is in a pleasant location a little way from what can at times be a busy mountain area. Good friendly staff, an interesting menu and good food. They have a good selection of draft beer along with a reasonable wine list. Well worth a visit.

Kathleen P.

Yelp
What a wonderful getaway weekend for my wife and I! The innkeepers were very friendly and easy going and the room was modernized and beautifully decorated (room C). We decided to have dinner at the inn upon arriving the first evening and loved the food and atmosphere! We allowed some time the second day to enjoy the hot tub, in-room Jacuzzi and the pool on the property before venturing out to further explore the area. Looking forward to our next visit, thanks again!

Holly S.

Yelp
Amazing place! Stayed in early December. The breakfast was wonderful each morning and dinner was very good as well! The hot tub couldn't have been more amazing outside while it was snowing after a day of skiing. My dog came too and was at home here. Emily and Michael and all of the staff were very accommodating and wonderful. I could go on and on about what a great stay this was, better than any place I've ever been! I will definitely be going back here! Plan to try late summer/fall this year :)

George C.

Yelp
Mitch is a really nice person, he goes out of his way to give what is needed. The food is the beat I've ever eaten, they must have a top shelf chef working there. I would definetly stay there again. They are reasonably priced too. Again the food is amazing there, I wish I lived next door.

Darlene G.

Yelp
We loved this homey little spot. We arrived hungry after a long day of leaf peeping and headed right to the restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed in the candlelit dining room. The service was prompt. We had tickets to see Ailey at the Paramount Theatre that evening and were on limited time for dinner. No problem. Our order was taken immediately. I had a lovely chilled glass on Pinot Grigio and the mushroom goat cheese tart appetizer. Delicious! Our entrees took a little time to arrive as they were made to order. So worth the wait! What we received tasted like a great home cooked meal. The vermont Mac and cheese was baked to perfection, crispy on the outside, cheesy and delicious. The pot roast-- oh so tender in flavorful juices with carrots, potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The cod-- also delicious on spinach and with a flavorful broth perfectly seasoned. I substituted the sausage with Brussel sprouts-- so yum. Unfortunately we ran out of time for dessert but next time I'm in Vermont we'll make sure to stop in again. The only thing we didn't enjoy were the little cheese puffs that came instead of bread. But we got buttered popcorn from the dispenser in the lobby instead-- good substitution. I'll review our stay at the Inn separately.

Dana E.

Yelp
The Vermont Inn is the best kept secret and I almost wish I could keep it that way. Emily and Mike make you feel welcome from the moment you make a reservation. The Inn has old world charm but has been recently updated so it is fresh and clean. The on site restaurant is delicious and the full bar on the main floor makes the stumble upstairs even better after a long day of skiing. No worries about a designated driver. I doubt I'll ever stay anywhere else.

Priscilla L.

Yelp
BEST bed and breakfast I have ever been to. They dont really offer dinner anymore but the breakfast is included. And it's AMAZING. my husband doesn't like banana bread in general, but he loves the ones they made. They changed owners recently. So, previous comments probably are not applicable anymore. Consider spending your ski weekend there, coz we are definitely gonna go back! :)

Karen K.

Yelp
Amazing place! There are new owners (since fall 2011). My sister and I stayed at the inn and chose the handicap accessible room. We were offered an upgrade for free, but needed the accessibility, so we stayed in our booked room. It was quaint and comfortable. There was an entrance to the restaurant from the same foyer that had the entrance to our room, so it was amazing to just walk a couple steps and be in the lovely dining room. The food was first class. The skill and care in preparation were amazing. It was the best onion soup of my life, and believe me - I have had plenty! We went there both nights; no sense in going elsewhere when we had perfection! The salads were fresh, delicious and huge! I had the "side salad" ceasar as a dinner one night! The steak was wonderful and the "flat bread of the day" was a great starter. The inn stay included breakfast. We were given multiple choices and then it was cooked to order and decorated to perfection. We really loved every minute of our stay. My sister and her partner expect to return later this year. Possibly best of all was the special care that the owner, Tim, took in ensuring that every moment of our stay was perfect. He was so nice and so good at making sure that we had everything that we could possibly need. We wish the best to him and his lovely family in their new venture. With their work ethic and skill, I am sure they will be a huge success!
