Brilliant meal here last night. This place is tucked away in the Herefordshire countryside in a huge old building. The decor inside is warm and cosy, modern yet reminiscent of its surroundings and very farm influenced. The bar area has roaring fires, big comfy arm chairs and sofas, beams, wooden floors.. You get the just. Absolutely great bar menu, loads of different spirits available and unique cocktails along with a couple of beers on tap. Bar staff are very friendly and worth chatting to about the drinks, where they come from, what goes best with what etc.
The restaurant area was lovely and again, staff were very attentive and friendly. We started with a spiced parsnip soup topped with apple with ciabatta bread on the side, this was a huge dish which I didn't dare to finish for fear that I wouldn't be able to eat the rest of my meal.
We then had the slow cooked blade of hereford beef which was cooked incredibly well. It melted in your mouth and practically fell apart if you just waved your fork at it. Very succulent and tender, brilliant cut of meat. This was paired with garlic mash, caramelised onions, baby carrots and an ale jus which all complimented the rich beef very well. A lovely main.
For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake and nectarine sorbet which was lovely but much too rich for my tastebuds. I was finished after about a mouthful !! It did go down a treat with the chocaholics amongst us however !!
Of the restaurants in hereford, this is one of the finer options available. The grounds are lovely and this would be a perfect place to come day or night. However, as with everything in Hereford, this is in the middle of no where so be prepared to fork out on a cab fair to get home !
