Love staying at the Victoria Hotel and have stayed there 4 times before. I had surgery booked at Mercy hospital and Ray booked for 4 nights for his convenience. Love all of our experience, thanks to Ashley on reception when we arrived making us feel so welcome. Had 2 dinners and drinks with friends there. Especially love the Orange Roughy fish which I have every time. Ray and Sandra Drayton

We stayed in the new part, the rooms were very , very good. Parking was good and there is plenty of off-street parks which were no additional cost. The room had a good desk to work from , comfortable bed, excellent bathroom facilities. Perfect location to city center and to Forsyth Barr Stadium all easy walking.

Without going into too many details, there were some differences in the booking we had made through an online travel provider. Reception and duty manager were excellent in dealing with the situation and I felt their actions more than compensated for the miss communication. Great room. Would definitely stay again.

Thus hotels most appealing benefit is its location. It’s a short walk to the octagon, historical railway station and the excellent (and free admission) Pioneer Museum. It’s a short is also only a couple of streets from George Street which has lots of shopping and restaurants. A block away is a large supermarket for groceries. The room size is adequate with a fridge and kettle. The carpet could use a good cleaning. The main issue was with the shower. It has no enclosure and although the floor is sloped towards the drain we had to put towels around the floor to stop water from running everywhere. The towels and bath mat naturally got soaked. For the price and location I would recommend this hotel if you are. It looking for anything upscale.

The hotel is in a good location and is within a short walking distance to a lot of restaurants and the octagon. The check in was quick and staff were very helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel is a little bit dated but is well kept.

A basic, functional property lucky enough to have a good address. A bit tired and dated though and the first impression of three old men siting, smoking at a small table in the covered entranceway was mildly off-putting. Forgettable dining room.

Refurbished and very close to town, so walked everywhere. Would recommend for that reason alone. Room would have got 5 stars but for the stains on the carpet. Asked for eggs on toast for breakfast but that wasn’t possible, although Eggs Benedict was on the menu. 🤔

Location is Central, close to 2 main grocery shops. After opening our rooms door, a huge whiff of old, undried carpet came and greeted us. There was no air circulation. We opened the windows and kept the stand fan on the while time we were in the room. I mean? It can be great in winters but the rooms are a bit stuffy. In summers tho, like the day thst we checked-in. Wow, it was something else. It was a short stay and i didn’t complain. The staffs were nice The hotel’s restaurant served mean steaks and pasta. Their chowder was delicious! Would visit the restaurant again but not check in the hotel. There’s a $20 parking fee/ night.
