We stayed here a couple of nights along with my siblings and their spouses and our parents. We were 17 in all. Susan was very accommodating. She served us all a tasty breakfast and let us have the run of the place. The rooms were a little dusty and there were cobwebs around but our bed was comfortable.

I will start by saying the rooms are very nice spacious and clean. When we arrived we were greated at the front door and by the owners daughter who was very nice. She asked if we would be staying for breakfast and we let her know we would. She told us breakfast would be at 9 and we left to get settled. The room as I said was very nice and clean. The TV only had one channel and the remote did not work still not a big deal. This is the bad part. We woke up early relaxed waiting until 9 to go up and meet the family and have breakfast after waking up at 7 watching our one channel. When we walked upstairs there was no one to be found. The upper floor looked like they had just had a party recently that was never cleaned up. The 41 birthday balloons were still up and mess all over the floor. Still not to bad. We walked around found the kitchen and dining area and hung out and walked around feeling like the kid that wakes up at a friend's house early while everyone is still sleeping. After hanging out for about 10 min it's hitting close to 9:30 now we decided there was no one coming or home and we didn't have time to sit and wait. The room was 135$ for the night and that was to include breakfast and we had to go spend an additional 45$on breakfast in the morning so as for the room I would give it a 4 but the uncomfortable feeling in the morning and extra cost of breakfast was completely disappointing. This why I give it a 2

BLUF: Set your expectations for a 2 star hotel with no amenities and a very late breakfast, instead of what you may expect from a BnB, and you won't be as disappointed as we were. ||||TBH, I am pretty dissatisfied with our stay here. We stayed for one night, on a lark to get a night away from our toddler while Grandma was in town, after driving by the building and seeing how nicely it presented from the front.||||Overall, however, it lacked any of the homey or comforting touches that you'd expect from a BnB, we had cleanliness issues in our room, there were no amenities at all, and breakfast was so late we had to skip it. It was more akin to staying in a Red Roof or similar 2 star style hotel. ||||The home presents very well from the front, and inside it is very open. The first floor was fine, but not situated for lounging much. Our exterior doorknob was loose, and felt like it could easily have been removed (although, to be fair, there was a deadbolt in good condition), and the grounds are only average WRT grounds keeping. The front door autolocks, and it appears guests do not have access through it. ||||The room itself was very similar to a hotel room, and lacked any touches. Describing it as a standard and somewhat sparse hotel room really is accurate (the furniture was very bare and felt very industrial).||||From a cleanliness perspective we were very disappointed (this was probably our biggest problem with our stay). My wife refused to shower, because the bath mat either wasn't washed after the last guests left, or badly needed replacing (it had what appeared to be wetness on it, or wet grime). The wall behind the pedestal sink was dirty as well. The quilt on our bed was stained in multiple places. ||||Finally, the bed was hard. Really, really, hard... and our light fixture had paint peeling off onto the desk). ||||There were no amenities to speak of. For example: There's a Keurig machine in the room, complete with coffee cups, sugar, etc... but they don't provide K Cups (and no coffee at all until at least 8:30, see below) Additionally, there was no coffee, tea, or much of a real sitting area available anywhere throughout the house. The only toiletries you'll get are soap and hand lotion, no shampoo or conditioner. ||||I overall just had a feeling/impression of everything being bare bones or sparse. It just wasn't a comfortable place to unwind or sleep. ||||Regarding food, breakfast is scheduled for 9, but still hadn't been served when we had to leave at 9:35. Coffee isn't offered until 8:30, and on this morning wasn't put out until 9:15 (again, no coffee provided in the room unless you bring your own). There were no pre breakfast pastries, muffins, etc... I have never experienced anything like this at any other BnB. Be prepared for this, or just accept that breakfast is not really on your terms, again more like a hotel. We literally ate and drank nothing, because breakfast was scheduled so late, was even later to boot, and nothing else was offered. ||||Overall, I know the review sounds very critical, and it is, if you are expecting a BnB (again, all my criticisms are relative to what I'd expect from a BnB)... But if you come into your stay thinking you're staying at a hotel instead, where breakfast may be provided, albeit later than I think most people eat, then your expectations will be different, and the stay will be just fine. ||||That said, though, I cannot really recommend staying here unless some more attention is put into details, cleanliness, and timing, especially at BnB prices.

Spacious and clean rooms, but the property and building look a little neglected. The bed was so uncomfortable (hard mattress, shaky frame) that we only stayed one night. Owner is very kind and accommodating. Would give it 2.5 stars.

Very hospitable, pleasant owners, beautiful and unique location. Some strange odors and a cobweb in our room, but breakfast was fantastic with Susan's excellent spices. Nice individual exits allow you to come and go as you please without walking through the beautiful house if you don't want to. Overall a good stay.

We stayed in the tower room. It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Coffee in the room and a refrigerator. The best part of our stay was Susan and her breakfast! Susan was so wonderful and has such a kind heart! Truly a home away from home experience.

I attended a couples retreat at Victoria Candle Bed and Breakfast. The staff was pleasant and always helpful. The food was simply amazing. Ms. Susan prepared all the meals to perfection. My husband and I stayed in the Lexington Park room, which was cozy enough for the two of us.

We stayed at The Victorian Candle for Thanksgiving and spent 3 days exploring the area. Susan, the owner, invited us to join them for Thanksgiving dinner. We spent the afternoon running around and were completely surprised when we came in to a dining room filled with her family members.|| This was truly a family dinner and two places had been set for my wife and me. And a feast it was. Home smoked and cooked with all the trimmings and tasty desserts. ||We had a two level suite with outside entrance. Breakfasts of two kinds of pancakes and special omelettes, sausage and bacon kept us fueled for the 4 mile hike out and back to the fossils at the cliffs.||Susan and her son Leon took special care of us and made us feel like we were part of the family.

Yelp
FYI ..... The owner of this bed and breakfast, Susan Dexter, fraudulently opened and used a credit card with my name. It was delivered to the address of this bed and breakfast. I have opened an investigation and filed a police report. I would be extremely cautious doing business with such a person...

Yelp
A wonderful place to stay!! Needed to get away for the weekend. The owner Susan is super sweet and makes a delicious breakfast. Always had good conversation and was a great host. Room was clean and the house was beautiful. Definitely suggest this b&b. Will be sure to be back!

Yelp
Don't waste you time with this place. Priced as a bed & breakfast but really just an air B&B that is overpriced. Simple, modest accommodations. They didn't provide breakfast the next morning as they stated. Owner is not very credible

Yelp
We stayed at the Victorian Candle. We enjoyed the beautiful home and all of the help provided; the lovely breakfast, we enjoyed visiting with the friendly staff. Our room was very large and comfortable! Such a peaceful country setting, yet so close to everything we needed. It was great having our own door to the outside with our car nearby.

Yelp
Our innkeeper Leon upgraded our room since the one we had booked was under renovation! Cozy quiet little place - and Leon's blueberry pancakes were slammin. Friendly folks, would totally recommend #yayLocal #stayLocal
