Google
Absolutely love this family-owned bakery! Their 9-grain bread is delicious…always fresh & full of flavor. I’ve been coming here for years and the service is always friendly. Their pastries are amazing too, but they sell out fast so come early if you want the best pick! I saw a few negative reviews and can’t understand how anything less than 5 stars would be given!

Google
Stopped by for a coffee and a pastry. At 12:40 on a Monday there weren’t many pastries in the case which I take as a good sign. I had the lemon scone, which was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning in the future. The large variety of breads looked very appealing.

Google
The chocolate scone I received was so hard that it seemed like it had been fossilized over millions of years, even dipping it in coffee barely helped. The coffee was decent, but it was about the size of a chipmunk yet still cost five dollars. I have to say the sandwich was pretty good, but I’m not picky at all and still was disappointed with the meal overall. Don’t recommend, but you do you.

Google
Fresh bread, danish, scones, and a cinnamon roll all exceeded expectations. Friendly staff and quick service. We’ll be back!

Google
Went on a Friday morning and found a very limited selection. Picked up a baguette that tasted more like a day-old grocery store loaf—dry, chewy, and lacking the crust and texture of a proper baguette. The only way to salvage it would be to turn it into garlic bread at home. Definitely not worth the price. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Google
Got a salad and the turkey sandwich. The salad was 75% croutons and barely had any veggies. There were 2 slices of thin turkey making it a brie and apple sandwich. By looking at the menu and the names of the items, they need to be changed to reflect what we consumed. A bread bowl with apple and brie sandwich.

Google
I've lived in flag practically my entire life, and just recently learned about this place. And boy, I've never looked forward to making up for lost time this much before. The bread is spectacular, as are the pastries. Really anything you get is going to be incredible. If I were to recommend something, it would be crime if I didn't say the cheddar and jalapeño sourdough. It is out of this world, I'm pretty sure I ate half the loaf just driving home. I also loved their "effing hot" salsa, it goes on pretty much everything I make nowadays. All in all, a fantastic surprise.

I love the local feel. Breads are good, especially the cranberry hazel nut. Fresh sandwiches made to order!

Yelp
Love a good bakery and when in Flagstaff recently, we wanted to try out Village Baker. On our way out of town, we stopped in to grab some pastries for the next leg of our road trip. The facility is spacious and the addition of local offerings (candles, etc) a great touch. We tried a cinnamon scone and lemon scone, both easy options to consume in the car. I opened up the cinnamon scone about 20 mins from departing the bakery and unfortunately like other reviews, it was rock hard. The shell was not consumable. After breaking in half to get to the center, the inside was extremely dry. Scones by nature tend to be on the dry side but this one was extremely dry. I put it away and hoped a short reheat when I arrived at our next kitchen would help, but it did not. The lemon scone had excellent flavor and the zest in the icing was a nice touch. Sadly, the texture was the same as the cinnamon- dry interior with a rock hard shell. So much potential for this place and hoping to try again during a future Flagstaff trip hoping this was just an off baking day.

Yelp
We love fresh baked bread and found Village Baker online. We purchased a loaf of cut sourdough bread and a chocolate chip cookie. Both are outstanding! We would definitely buy both again. The physical business itself is total chaos. There were tables and chairs all over with a handwritten sign that said CAFE COMING SOON. Quite messy and unappealing. But, we will return and hopefully it will all be neat and organized.

Yelp
Admittedly, we were drawn in because of some other person's negative review of the scones - something told us we should stop in! Smells of fresh baked bread, with several options to choose from and freshly baked pastries. We had scones (which were very good and not rock hard as that other lady would have you believe), peach turnover (mildly sweet with an excellent pastry shell), chocolate croissant (lots of delicious filling), and a cinnamon role (good, but probably 100x better if it was warmed - we didn't get to ours until it was cold - 10 seconds in the microwave would have made it even better). Friendly service by the owners who arrive bright and early to start baking.

Yelp
Delicious, affordable, fresh, and friendly customer service! We love village baker and love supporting local!

Yelp
Regarding service, very pleasant and the aroma was delicious BUT read on: I really wanted to like this place because I am committed to supporting local. Unfortunately, I can't give a very good review. We had two pastries that we ultimately couldn't even eat. I currently have sores in my mouth from where the hard pastry cut into my cheeks. One item was a scone, the other was a raspberry danish. The raspberry danish center was okay, a little on the tart side, the cheese wasn't very flavorful and the outer pastry ring was hard. The scone was rock hard. Really could not enjoy it at all. I'm going to try to take a video of pieces of the scone that I'm tapping together percussion style.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and wanted to support local.... Menu has lattes and decaf coffee listed but stopped in and they only had drip regular coffee available (it tased awful). Didn't have lids for the coffee either so I spilled it walking back to my hotel. They only had a few pastry selections and they looked to be old from the day before or older. Maybe it was just an off day but can't recommend the place
google avatar

Yelp
The croissants rival European ones....without fail. The scones are delicious, and a mini wish of mine is a smaller size, so as to have a taste choice of the all delicious flavors. The bread selection, and freshness is beyond compare. The service is always prompt and especially friendly.

Yelp
Support our local business. Bread do good love the danishes and scones. Great Croissants. Plz go check them out. Nicest ppl you can even order ahead. If you into fresh homemade bread and not over sweetened American stuff you will love this place.

Yelp
This place is super cute. I like to support local, especially when I'm traveling for work, and this spot looked cool. I'm glad we went in! My only complaint was no coffee but I TOTALLY understand as it is a small shop. This place is super unique and not something you'll find everywhere, you can see straight into their bakery, it's totally open, and really cool to see their production and process. Everyone there was baking and prepping. We even got to see a gut hand kneading loaves which was awesome. They do have a good selection of pastries - I will warn you it's expensive but keep in mind these are all fresh and handmade. Definitely a treat. I brought some to my factory guys and they were all obsessed with them. SO GOOD. I didn't try one that I didn't like. Highly recommend everyone try!

G-Man ..

Yelp
From the reviews other yelpers left, I was somewhat disappointed. All the items I was interested in were not available but settled for a cinnamon roll which was very dry and a loaf of cranberry hazelnut bread which sounds really good as you would all probably agree but again...disappointed with the lack of taste and again dry. Maybe I just went on the wrong day...but maybe I didn't...you be the judge. Cheers...

Yelp
The pastries in flavor are definitely good but seriously have to invest in hair nets or beard nets. Found some hair in the cinnamon role we got

Yelp
Me and my wife came here on our honeymoon over 6 months ago. We try a lot of different bakeries during our travels, this is by far the best bakery ever and we couldn't wait to come back. Went back yesterday and there was a older gentleman working the counter, he was quite grumpy and a little rude but you can talk to me however you want if you keep making these baked goods just the way they are. If you're in the area you have to try the village baker! I will easily spend almost 30 dollars here and not feel bad about it.
google avatar

Joseph W.

Yelp
The workers are always wonderful and kind and knowledgeable about the various baked goods that are available. They do sell out of chocolate croissants pretty early in the day, but that's also my favorite offering from their pastry case. I just call ahead now to save myself the trip if they've ran out. If you're a local, make sure to get signed up for their rewards program. It's worth the 2 minutes of effort. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do once they're done renovating!
google avatar

Alyse H.

Yelp
We stopped here on Sunday morning on the way out of town. They didn't have too many offerings because it was Sunday, but they had enough to satisfy us. We ordered a cinnamon roll, a raspberry danish and an apple turnover. All the treats were flaky when they needed to be and moist when they needed to be. Everything we didn't get looked equally as delicious.
google avatar

Zach P.

Yelp
Always a stop when I am in town. Pastries are amazing. My favorite items are the blueberry danish and lemon scones. Really good bread selection as well.
google avatar

Adrienne M.

Yelp
It smells so good in here! They make their own bread. Just stopped in to grab a pastry. Raspberry Danish! Yummy yummy for my tummy we bought all 3 that were left. Amazingly it was delightful! I'll be back to try a few other things!
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
Love this bakery they have delicious breads and pastries. Definitely check this place out

Dano G.

Yelp
hostess and little Debbie are for the kids. The Village Baker is just for you. The scones from Village Baker are the perfect texture, consistency, and sweetness to start my morning right.

Yelp
The Village Bakery is fundamentally Flagstaff! I have lived here 20 years and have been coming here for that long! Our Flagstaff Community Market was a bit different this year due to COVID-19, so I missed seeing them there on Sundays, but in the future, I'm sure you can count on them being back at the summer market which gives you another option for their delights! They have wonderful COVID-19 precautions. You call, place your order, they grab it for you, put it out on a table outside the door and you pay by square outside the door and have very little interaction! I can't wait until the time where we can go back in the bakery and get a whiff of heaven! With these precautions, everything is on display in their window so you can pick and choose while you're on the phone with them. Since we live on the other side of town, we like to call in our order first thing in the morning and they hold it for us till we can get there in the afternoon. This ensures that we get the goodies we want! Their bread is amazing! From sourdough to jalapeño cheese loaf, it's all good! We especially love their marble rye and when you open up the bag, the smell is absolutely divine! This is truly the best marble rye we have ever had! We chuckle when we see people come out of Safeway next-door, with their loaf of blah! Morning pastries are delish, not overly sweet, and go quickly! I highly recommend that you get there early or call your order in and have them held! Definitely a small business you want to support!

Yelp
Very limited choices for bread. Only 3 types of pastry in the case. Construction going on in the waiting area. Not a great atmosphere
google avatar

Janis S.

Yelp
Yummy danishes. When you walk in the shop, it smells amazing. Note though that they really don't sell anything except baked goods.

R K.

Yelp
Best bread in town. Fresh. Lots of options. Always visit when I'm in Flagstaff. Get there early as some stuff runs out.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
One of the best bakeries we have been to! The Croissants we amazing! The owner was very friendly and welcoming! A must stop if you are in Flagstaff! Coincidentally the owner is related to coach Klein from NMSU. Guns Up!!! GO AGGIES!!!
google avatar

Esmeralda R.

Yelp
The service was great! Upon entering the establishment husband and I were greeted by cashier with a big smile. We did some small talk while we picked what we wanted and even got lucky enough that the bread I wanted was coming fresh out of the oven. I gotta say tho my absolute favorite were the cinnamon rolls. Big and flaky, just the perfect amount of glaze it's a must!
google avatar

Kira D.

Yelp
Very good bakery. As a Baker I approve 1000%. The French baguettes are delicious and sour dough is fantastic!

Robyn M.

Yelp
A smile would have been nice, Beth. And you beat there at 7 am per my phone. If your clocks were a bit behind that, I would have been glad to wait. I too am busy and work for a living. It wasn't pastry I was complaining about, it was the unwelcome vibe. I upped my review since I still think you have great product.
google avatar

Lata A.

Yelp
Just stopped by after our hike to grab some pastries and loved everything we tried. So many great treats to choose from but we settled on a lemon scone, chocolate scone and cinnamon roll. Delicious and Great customer service too! We will definitely stop by again to try more things.

Zoey F.

Yelp
I stopped by for breakfast pastries and to check out their bread: the place didn't disappoint at all! Apple turnover and blueberry scone were freshly baked, fragrant and delicious. I really liked the French loaf too.
google avatar

Yelp
Update - our return visit to Village Baker was also a return to normal - very friendly service and quality baked goods. We will continue to be loyal customers and appreciate your continued commitment to customer service!!

Kass K.

Yelp
My wife and I just recently discovered the Village Bakery and were very thankful. The owner Beth shared much with us about the shops history as well as their plans for expanding their offerings and the recent improvements they've been making to the premises! She and the staff have been pleasant and we've gone back weekly to try different loafs and pastries and they've all been fresh and delicious! Really excited to see what's in store for this long standing excellent local business!
google avatar

Linda V.

Yelp
We enjoyed the baked goods we got in the morning during our stay in the area. Everything was good except the scone, which because we got there at 9AM, was not warmed up and was too hard to eat. Overall, baked goods were descent.
google avatar

Lucy D.

Yelp
Very friendly service but the blueberry scone had no taste at all and was $5.25! I can't believe I live in a world where one scone is $5.25...definitely not worth the price
google avatar

J L.

Yelp
We saw the great reviews for this place, and decided to try a pastry. By the time we got there in the late afternoon, they had only a few options left but we bought a loaf of wheat bread instead. Perfect for toasting. Next time we will try to get there earlier for some of their pastry selections.
google avatar

Josh V.

Yelp
I am currently in search of a bread company I can use for my business. Had to ask about prices on sub/hoagie rolls. I was given three different price range. As I talked to a manager figure out the right price range. He gave me attitude when I was asking questions. Why not have wholesale? Asked me what my purpose for the breads. He said it's hard for us to make orders on Monday. You don't want money? The bread was good just not the service or the help I needed. Thank you.
google avatar

Alva M.

Yelp
Delicious bread and the scones are to die for. This is my usual stop before heading back to California. The rosemary, olive and sourdough breads are all my favorites.

Miheer M.

Yelp
This little hole in the wall has some real gems. We tried about 7 different pastries from them. Fresh hot pastries on a cold morning were a nice start. My favorite was their pineapple scone - not too sweet and good texture. Friendly people and helpful - they have a rotating selection of breads as well. Do check it out - a cannot miss location.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
Awesome, amazing breads! We pick up fresh bread here weekly and have yet to discover one we don't like! Please try this place! You will want nothing less than fresh baked from now on!
google avatar

Renata L.

Yelp
Came here after my husband raved about all the fresh breads they had. What a great surprise to find high quality homemade style breads here in Flagstaff. As a home baker myself, I was impressed with how delicately risen the loaves were, perfect crust (which is hard to come by), and all the different breads they had. Not to mention all the pastries! Perfectly laminated croissants that I have only seen equal in Europe or European bakeries found in NYC and Chicago. A+ for service and dedication to quality. A lot of love and work are put into these loaves. Support local business and skip the mass produced breads found in nearby supermarkets.
google avatar

Ross R.

Yelp
Great store great owners great service Is exciting to be able to support businesses like these that clearly care about customers and are practicing safe habits during COVID. Mountains of love and respect

Carol B.

Yelp
Hello. Didn't know how to respond to the owners reply, but I read everything you said, and all I can tell you is that we asked for a sourdough loaf that was on the rack labeled sourdough‍and the guy handed us the loaf, not telling us it wasn't sourdough. In regards to the other items... I don't recall the exact names for them. I was just giving a description. We did in fact have something that resembled something like a turnover that had cinnamon in it and that was the hockey puck it was so hard.

Liz W.

Yelp
Got a croissant and cinnamon sugar scone, the croissant was delicious and so was the scone until I found more than one hair in it :/

Tina G.

Yelp
This would have been a 5 star cinnamon roll but alas it was not as fresh as it should be. But for a day old cinnamon roll to be a 4 star means it's pretty dang good. As we were paying I noticed a pan of cinnamon rolls sitting behind the cashier on a counter. Do you have to ask for a fresh roll? Husband had a raspberry danish and it was great. The scones were big. I would say they're "average" taste-wise but we're kind of scones snobs. Most people would probably say they were very good. I'd like to try the breads next time as they look amazing.
google avatar

S B.

Yelp
Flagstaff staple - thank you! This place has been in Flag for more than 20 years - the owners truly care about the community and their customers. It's a great time to become a regular here - you won't regret it.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
The Village Baker is open-but you have to pay outdoors and wait outside to get your goods which was fine. We got a blueberry cream cheese pastry, chocolate chip scone, and apple turnover. The apple turnover was delicious, and the blueberry cream cheese pastry was rich and hit the spot. The scone was a little bit too hard - it needed to be warm back up or maybe it was just a little bit old. I'm sure had it been fresher it would've been delicious. All in all I would consider coming down here again. But I'm knocking one star off of the overly hard chocolate chip scone.

Donna Zobre B.

Yelp
The best bread! Clean, Service excellent, friendly, informative, wonderful suggestions. Can't wait to get more, bread, especially the cranberry hazelnut (makes excellent French toast). I give it a 10 star.

Natalie P.

Yelp
I just love the Village Baker! The bread and various treats are so delicious! The owners and their crew are warm and welcoming and always go the extra mile to make stopping in a great experience for all. It's a must try for visitors as is a local favorite. Im obsessed with their bread; no comparison any other place. Its an adventure.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Huge baked goods... very fresh! Our favorites were the glazed lemon scone and raspberry scone, also tried cinnamon rolls. Very friendly staff ... recommend!
google avatar

Bernie H.

Yelp
Delicious raspberry danish, was a little expensive but worth it and the bread looks amazing.

Vincent N.

Yelp
I've been to The Village Baker twice. Each time I only purchased one or two items from the glass case. I've had their scones and their Danish. Both were awesome. This place looks and runs like a real Bakery. I recommend you give them a try. By the way, I haven't purchased any yet, but their bread looks delicious.
