9 of the Best Places to Stay in South Australia

"Living among the vines at one of The Vineyard’s five guest houses felt indulgent, with accommodations from studio suites to two-bedroom cottages each stocked with a complimentary mini bar and locally sourced goodies to enjoy on a private deck; I used the concierge to book custom experiences (the suggested morning at Onkaparinga Gorge followed by an 11-course lunch at d’Arenberg Cube sounded emblematic), and watched sunsets from the Jacuzzi with a glass of bubbly." - Hannah Lott-Schwartz Hannah Lott-Schwartz Hannah Lott-Schwartz is an award-winning lifestyle journalist and editor. We had 3 beautiful nights in The Ardmore cottage which exceeded expectations. Amazingly comfortable beds and linens, luxurious shower and bath, spacious kitchen and dining area, well equipped with everything we needed and included local bacon and eggs, complimentary snacks and wine, and a few other little bits and pieces. Mini bar options fantastic. Stunning view across the vineyard, and comfortable front porch seating to enjoy the location with a glass of wine. Access to the jacuzzi was an added bonus. Absolutely recommend this place for a luxury getaway. The location is perfect being surrounded by wineries and a quick drive into village centre.

We had such a lovely stay at the Vineyard McLaren Vale. The accommodation we chose was the Manhattan and it was just perfect. Beautiful decor, lovely facilities and it was stocked with the most delicious locally-sourced ingredients for our breakfasts. The views were stunning and the location was perfect. I'd definitely recommend this to others.

Beautiful quiet oasis in the heart of McLaren Vale wine country. The ‘Cadole Avalon’ was a modern beautifully appointed apartment with everything you could need and more. Our fantastic hosts left the fridge fully stocked including a couple of bottles of wine. Will definitely stay again if I’m back in McLaren Vale.

We had three nights at the Cadole Avalon. A truly wonderful, peaceful retreat. The accommodation was first class with everything we needed provided. Highly recommended.

We had the most amazing weekend at The Vineyard McLaren Vale. We stayed in The Strand and it was impressive from the moment we walked in with care and creativity taken in the decor and fittings. We were completely blown away by the quality of the accommodation and our whole experience. It was quiet, peaceful and the views were breathtaking. Having a stocked minibar, breakfast provisions and snacks meant we had everything we needed for lazy days reading while overlooking the vineyards. We have nothing negative to say and can't wait to return! (p.s) the fire was amazing too!

Lovely stay. Beautiful place. Peace and quite. Love the heated floors in the bathroom. Only 3 minor things, I like to unpack, even on a 3 night stay, no wardrobe or drawers in bedroom. TV volume didn't work, so had to turn heater noise off to listen to TV and that was still hard. (Set on 3) Very old TV with no volume on back. Lucky I brought my own Earl grey tea. Beautiful views and 'how's the serenity'

The Strand at The Vineyard was a great place to escape to & enjoy the peace & views of the local surrounding vineyards. We highly recommend The Strand at The Vineyard - from the beautiful decor, toasty fire & generous provisions to the well equipped kitchen, outdoor seating areas & comprehensive list of nearby places to visit - all made our stay wonderful. Thanks again.
