The Vintage Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Set back from the popular districts of Bairro Alto and Chiado, yet within easy walking distance, The Vintage suits discerning travellers who prefer to dip in and out of the maelstrom – and of the hotel's groovy underground pool. Its casually luxurious, artful design evokes the chic style of nearby Avenida da Liberdade, one of Europe's most expensive shopping streets, and the elegant Parque Eduardo VII. The latter is perfectly placed for a life-affirming jog, but if your idea of holiday exploration means perusing the cocktail menu, make a beeline for V rooftop bar. Low-fi beats, inventive drinks and sweeping views of the majestic São Jorge castle set the tone. Downstairs is the reliably excellent Blue Bar and Restaurant where you take breakfast, while underneath it all, The Spa is The Vintage's little secret. Its dark, cavernous space and its dipping pool with powerful water jets are a godsend after busy Lisbon has attacked your senses. Retreat to your room to find rich monochrome hues, wooden floors, tall windows and sensuous Modernist design details. Benamôr products add whimsy to state-of-the-art bathrooms, while complimentary local spiced gins await on a vintage trolley. In fact, everything about this stay is stylish; particularly the guests. Fashion mavens and young couples with an eye for beauty will feel very at home here. Highs Bedrooms deliver the height of comfort: sumptuous sheets, marshmallow-soft beds, cosseting robes and moreWe relished the expertly-made coffees in The Hangout (lobby bar), where jazz records spin next to a striking portrait of a female Fado singerCatching your first glimpse of Lisbon's terracotta-topped vistas from the rooftop bar is epicThe neighbourhood is quiet, in the best way. We loved wandering along sun-dappled streets, past independent cafes and palm-shaded gardensThe inky cavernous ambiance of the underground dipping pool is a delight after a day's exploring Lows While vibey, the pool and gym area is very small, and reserved for spa guests at certain times (check ahead)If you're looking for a hotel right in the thick of it, The Vintage might be just a tad too far out (though still within stumbling distance of excellent gardens, shops, bars and restaurants)" - Amy Everett

Great location for first trip to Portugal. Room was spacious enough for two friends and the separate water closet and large shower was appreciated. The staff were amazing. The regular communication was welcomed too. |Our 5th room was quiet in spite of the rooftop bar being on same floor. |The hotel was a short walk to great locations. |The breakfast buffet and complimentary snacks were great, especially the daily water after hot days of touring.

We had such a lovely stay at The Vintage Hotel. One of the sweetest moments was when they surprised our kids with little treats, which really made them feel special. They also offered us some great snacks, a thoughtful gesture that added a nice touch to our stay. The rooms were beautifully put together with a Parisian vibe.

Where to begin. Located in city center near tony Rua de Libertad, this mid century modern hotel is elegant. The staff, which included Jessica,Paulo, and Rodrigo were not only friendly, but so helpful. The rooftop bar and the restaurant were great. The breakfast (Hilton) was free and the selections were great. The room was very nicely laid out and the welcoming amenities were appreciated. As we all know, Lisbon is a very difficult place to walk for those who are seniors,so pay attention. Very steep streets in all directions. That being said, the stay there was magnificent.

The hotel is well located to get to everything and metro choices. The staff was helpful, the bedroom was large and well appointed (I love it with 4 pillows and they are all a bit different so you can find the right one to sleep with). Breakfast was wonderful every morning. We enjoyed the 4th floor deck (just wish it was smoke free) for a drink and the views.

Our stay at The Vintage in Lisbon was nothing short of exceptional — and this was our fourth time returning. From the moment we arrived, we were met with the kindest and most attentive team I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. Every detail felt personalized . The rooftop staff remembered our usual orders and greeted us with such warmth and timeliness that it felt like we were among friends. The ambience throughout the hotel was serene, stylish, and truly reflective of Lisbon’s charm. We felt seen, cared for, and genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to find that level of thoughtful service — and it’s exactly why we keep coming back. Looking forward to visit number five already.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooms were well equipped and having a different small gift at turn down, was a nice touch.|The spa was better than a lot of hotels of that standing. I also had no difficulty booking a treatment, which was adequate, if 25 mins late.|The hotel was not easily accessible, which I hadn’t quite realised when I booked that location. The onus was on me to research it more thoroughly.|My main reason for giving this hotel a 3 instead of a 4 star, was to do with the restaurant.|The breakfast was plentiful and varied but we were there a week my husband ordered the same cooked meal every day, and only on the last two days, was the order correct.|I noted the Blue Bistrot, which was, as described, bistrot food. |We ate there on the first night, as we were tired. I ordered a round melted cheese, it arrived luke warm and had the date label on the side..|When I queried this, I was told that it was a special cheese which they needed to inform the customer of the sell by date!|Seriously? I like to think that I can trust a restaurant in a 5 star hotel, not to give me gone off food…|I was also very disappointed that the hotel didn’t have a proper restaurant, alongside the bistrot. It would have been nice not to go out for dinner every night.|There are many positives about this hotel, but sadly, not enough for a 4 star rating.

The hotel is lovely, great location, very clean. Breakfast is great, lots of selection.|Rooms are comfortable, the gin and tonics are a nice touch as is the mini bar.|On the negative side the pool is small and you need to book a slot, and we were not successful at being able to use the roof top bar which was shut for a private event or full which was disappointing for a 5 star hotel

I decided to revisit this hotel after 4 years, and unfortunately, it was a huge mistake. I ended up leaving a night early because I simply couldn’t tolerate staying any longer. The ownership has changed since my last visit, and the decline is evident. The hotel is incredibly run-down. The carpet in my room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, and the tap was malfunctioning. The A/C also barely worked. It feels like the new owners have completely neglected the place. The room had stains everywhere, and the artwork on the walls was crooked, creating an unwelcoming, unkempt atmosphere instead of the chic vibe the hotel once tried to maintain. The bathroom had a hot & cold tap that was working the opposite. If you want cold water it would run more and more warm. I told the hotel staff this in the reception as this is totally unacceptable. This really hurt my hands and face. Nobody cares about this, and I am very sure I’m not the first one complaining. To top it off, breakfast was a joke. I was the only guest there one morning, and the waitress appeared very sick, sneezing multiple times over the glasses and cups. A few kitchen staff members walked out, all looking unwell, and the reception workers were also suffering from sinus issues, which they openly shared with me. Unsurprisingly, I left the hotel with a bad cold. I paid €400 per night for this experience and deeply regret it. I will never return, and I feel like I wasted my money here. If you're looking for a pleasant and hygienic stay, this is not the place for you. This version keeps your main points but adds some structure and clarity while still conveying your disappointment. It highlights specific issues, the general decline of the hotel, and the health concerns, which makes it easier for potential guests to understand your experience
