The Best Hotels in Lisbon, From Bairro Alto to Chiado | Condé Nast Traveler

"For a chic take on Lisbon’s love of beautiful things, this one-off boutique pairs mid-century style with original art across 56 rooms and three suites—each with a vintage bar cart for DIY, complimentary gin-and-tonics and, in many cases, city views. I make time for the V Rooftop Bar, which stands out in a city of rooftops thanks to its suspended vertical garden and a breezy, could-be-in-LA vibe." - Abigail Malbon

The Vintage Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Set back from the popular districts of Bairro Alto and Chiado, yet within easy walking distance, The Vintage suits discerning travellers who prefer to dip in and out of the maelstrom – and of the hotel's groovy underground pool. Its casually luxurious, artful design evokes the chic style of nearby Avenida da Liberdade, one of Europe's most expensive shopping streets, and the elegant Parque Eduardo VII. The latter is perfectly placed for a life-affirming jog, but if your idea of holiday exploration means perusing the cocktail menu, make a beeline for V rooftop bar. Low-fi beats, inventive drinks and sweeping views of the majestic São Jorge castle set the tone. Downstairs is the reliably excellent Blue Bar and Restaurant where you take breakfast, while underneath it all, The Spa is The Vintage's little secret. Its dark, cavernous space and its dipping pool with powerful water jets are a godsend after busy Lisbon has attacked your senses. Retreat to your room to find rich monochrome hues, wooden floors, tall windows and sensuous Modernist design details. Benamôr products add whimsy to state-of-the-art bathrooms, while complimentary local spiced gins await on a vintage trolley. In fact, everything about this stay is stylish; particularly the guests. Fashion mavens and young couples with an eye for beauty will feel very at home here. Highs Bedrooms deliver the height of comfort: sumptuous sheets, marshmallow-soft beds, cosseting robes and moreWe relished the expertly-made coffees in The Hangout (lobby bar), where jazz records spin next to a striking portrait of a female Fado singerCatching your first glimpse of Lisbon's terracotta-topped vistas from the rooftop bar is epicThe neighbourhood is quiet, in the best way. We loved wandering along sun-dappled streets, past independent cafes and palm-shaded gardensThe inky cavernous ambiance of the underground dipping pool is a delight after a day's exploring Lows While vibey, the pool and gym area is very small, and reserved for spa guests at certain times (check ahead)If you're looking for a hotel right in the thick of it, The Vintage might be just a tad too far out (though still within stumbling distance of excellent gardens, shops, bars and restaurants)" - Amy Everett

This is a beautiful, small, luxurious hotel, well located in Lisbon close to restaurants, shops, and sights. The room was very comfortable and well-decorated. The restaurant was delicious for breakfast and dinner, and the rooftop bar was delightful. But the best part was the service. The staff was unfailingly friendly and super helpful, and everyone spoke perfect English, but they were also very cheerful about helping us with our rudimentary Portuguese. It was one of the best European hotel experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! Rooms really clean, the staff is so friendly and helpful with any questions you might have. They surprised us with a little cake in celebration of my husband’s birthday! So thoughtful||The breakfast is out of this world! Very gourmet, like ordering at a restaurant and they have really good coffee.||The location is perfect. It is in Principe Real, a very nice part of Lisbon, not in the chaos of tourism. It feels more authentic and local, and a very easy path down to the touristic part of town. It’s a beautiful to explore that whole area, lots of amazing restaurants and bars that the locals go to.||Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely room with a unique style that was immaculately clean with many thoughtful amenities. We loved stepping out on the balcony. Read the provided booklet, lots of helpful info and a sense of humor. Very thoughtful staff, truly comfortable atmosphere throughout, and delicious food in the restaurant. We will make a point to stay here when we return to Lisboa. Hopefully the weather will permit the rooftop bar to be open next time!

We had an amazing stay at The Vintage Hotel. The location is perfect — close to everything but still quiet. The room was really nice and comfortable.||||The staff were just great. Every time we asked for something, they helped right away with a smile. The best part was when they surprised my wife with a birthday cake — we didn’t even tell them it was her birthday! ||||The rooftop bar was awesome. Great cocktails, chill vibe, and the view over Lisbon is stunning

Due to a missed connection, we ended up arriving quite late at the hotel. We still had excellent service, and they had upgraded us to a larger room and provided turndown service so our room was perfect for our midnight arrival. The provided amenities were lovely. The breakfast each morning was top-notch. The hotel's location is fantastic. Should we find ourselves back in Lisbon, we will stay here again for the excellent service.

Staying at The Vintage is an experience of quiet, calm, attentive luxury.||Located in the Principe Real neighbourhood, it has easy walking access to restaurants, shops and a nearby botanical garden (Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Lisboa).||The Avenida da Liberdade and all of its shopping, restaurants and transit links is also a very short walk away, admittedly down a steep hill.||Rooms are quiet, spacious, comfortable and clean. I like the complete separation of the shower from the washroom facilities. ||The hotel includes a rooftop terrace, the V Rooftop Bar. On mornings if access is open it provides a quiet refuge from the city. I have’t been in the evening when bar service is available.||The hotel restaurant, the Blue Bistrot is very good, providing modern takes on some classic Portuguese dishes. The extensive, excellent breakfast is also served in the Blue Bistrot, in an atmosphere of calm that makes for a great start to the day.||I’ve tried two other luxury hotels in Lisbon and can confidently say The Vintage is by far my choice for its high standards of comfortable, quiet luxury.

I had a wonderful stay overall — the service was truly amazing, and the little touches throughout the hotel were very much appreciated. The location is fabulous, and the rooftop bar offers a stunning view with equally lovely staff. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options to suit every taste.||That said, I do have to mention the bed. The mattress felt old and extremely firm, and the wood frame squeaked with even the slightest movement. Unfortunately, it made for two rather uncomfortable nights and was quite surprising given Hilton’s usual high standards; particularly for a luxury property.||I never write hotel reviews, but as a frequent traveller and loyal Hilton guest, I felt it was important to share. ||Everything else about the stay was wonderful, but the bed definitely put a damper on what could have been a perfect experience.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible hotel in Lisbon, and I am absolutely blown away. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The cleanliness is impeccable, the staff is unbelievably kind and attentive, and every single detail has been thoughtfully considered sometimes anticipating needs you didn’t even realize you had! It’s rare to find a place that combines luxury, comfort, and genuine care in such a seamless way. Every corner of the hotel reflects quality and refinement, making the stay not just comfortable, but unforgettable. Honestly, giving this hotel a rating of 10 feels far too little, it truly deserves so much more
