We stopped here while cycle touring through the Cotswolds. Great value for Chipping Campden & perfect for a quick overnight stay. Staff really helpful with finding somewhere to lock our bikes up for the night. Breakfast plentiful!

Clean and spacious room in a central location. Staff were welcoming. Very noisy from both the courtyard and beer garden until closing time, then again from 0700 when the hotel woke up with a sound like a jackhammer downstairs. A vibrant pub for the locals on a Friday bank holiday weekend. Depends what you are looking for whether this is the place for you

Nice people and atmosphere but a there was a lot of noise and we had a poor night sleep. The rooms were situated directly adjacent to a pub that was very busy and noisy until 00:15. Sound insulation to the outside and other rooms was poor and even caused us to wake up again at around 3:30, when the neighbours woke up to walk to the toilet (like the ceiling was coming down..). On top of this, our room (1) had very little privacy and we could easily be observed by pub visitors from every angle.

Friendly staff especially at check-in.|Room size not bad and large bathroom.|Great location for visiting Cotswolds villages. Large fan in room which was needed as room hot.|Breakfast ok (yoghurt v nice) but after a few days it became monotonous. On street parking, so hard to get a free space.|Futon bed uncomfortable so had to put duvet on top of 'mattress'. Single bed had no headboard so v easy to hit head off windowsill.|Re: the noise, we were aware there would be some noise from the bar & outdoor area. Email from inn states 'there can be noise from the pub during busy times until late.' The word 'can be' should be replaced by 'is'. We stayed 3 nights and there was noise all 3, granted they were a Thurs, Fri & Sat. I was 'prepared' for some degree of noise from people talking/laughing outside or music coming from the actual bar but not a DJ pounding dance music from an outdoor markee until 11.15pm on the Sat night. |Price is good value for this area but if you want a bit of peace just to chill in your room never mind actually sleeping I'd look elsewhere.|Even though we enjoyed our time we would not stay again. Burton on the water (crazy busy), Stow-on-the-Wold or Broadway would be our preferred places to stay.

We are absolutely loving our stay! The room is so warm, clean, and cosy. The B&B is above a lively pub in the centre of Chipping Campden. The breakfasts were delicious and all of the staff have been incredibly friendly. This is our new favourite place to stay 🥰

We had a fantastic stay at The Volunteer Inn—a wonderfully lively and welcoming pub with a great atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel at home, and the buzz of the locals enjoying their evening added to the charm. The pub itself has a classic, cosy feel, with well-kept ales and excellent food, making it a brilliant base for exploring Chipping Campden. If you’re looking for a characterful, welcoming pub with great beer, excellent food, and genuinely good-value accommodation, The Volunteer Inn is a brilliant choice. It’s got warmth, charm, and a lively local feel that makes it a memorable place to stay. We’d happily return.

We stayed one night to start the Cotswolds Way trail and really enjoyed our stay. There's a really cozy pub with great local real ale, a good quality Indian restaurant and renovated rooms all within a few steps of each other. We met people in the bar at night and at breakfast the next morning. I'd recommend if you are on trip in the area.

An informal and fun pub with friendly staff and an Indian restaurant as a bonus! Great value food and drink, this pub is very popular with locals looking for unpretentious surroundings and good company. Big sporting events shown on screens inside and out.
