This place was our last night in Canada on the Lake Superior Circle Tour, and this place had it all! Great motel rooms, on-site restaurant, on-site gas station/convenience/liquor store, great view, and best of all, an apple fritter cook house! We pulled in about 3 in the afternoon and didn't leave for anything until we left for the road the next morning. The restaurant has outdoor seating, or you can take food to go back to your room. There is also a little gift shop/coffee shop as well. You each get a fresh apple fritter with your hotel stay, so I made sure to swing by early the next morning to get our fresh and piping hot. Batchawana Bay is directly across the highway, so you can also get some lovely beach walks in as well. We would highly recommend this place even though it was a tad pricier than some others nearby. Our stay was excellent! We graded each of our stays on the Lake Superior Circle Tour on 12 points that travelers might find helpful:|1. Coffee Maker - Yes|2. Microwave/Fridge - Yes|3. AC - Yes|4. Fan - Yes, option on AC unit|5. Bath - clean, tall step into tub/shower unit, did have a hair dryer|6. Bed - fairly hard|7. Accessible - No|8. Cleanliness - A+|9. TV - Yes|10. View - Awesome!|11. Ice - Yes|12. Price - Medium

On our recent Lake Superior holiday, we stayed at The Voyageur's Lodge on 2 separate occasions for a total of 3 nights. What a lovely place that has it ALL! Gas, groceries, gift shop, take-out food, a great room, ample parking, a terrific view of Batchawana Bay, access to the beach and the best apple fritter I've ever had!! Our room was spacious, nicely appointed and clean!!!! We couldn't get our TV to work on our first visit but that was alright since we were there only for 1 night. On our return trip, however, we got the same room and we still couldn't get the TV to work. One of the owners came to our room to problem-solve. She finally had to switch out the TV and it was greatly appreciated since we were booked for a 2-night stay! We ordered take-out food for dinner and were not disappointed! Delicious! And a bonus for booking a room - 1 free coffee and apple fritter which we thoroughly enjoyed while on the road. It is obvious that owners take pride in their place and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Check-in was quick and efficient and gas (full-service) was pumped by a friendly, upbeat gentleman!!! Thank you Robin, Frank and all the staff for a wonderful stay at The Voyageur's Lodge! Will be recommending your place to our family and friends and would stay there again when in the area!

This was such a delightful stay on our travels. It was gas station, liquor/convenience store, bakery, gift shop and a place to get a hot meal. So cute and the included apple fritter/coffee included for breakfast were awesome! The room was comfortable and nicely decorated and along with the friendly staff I highly recommend making this a stop on your journey!

Kind of shocked that they use scented laundry soap (or fabric softener). Pretty disgusting to have a residue of that smell on your hair and skin. The majority of hotels, motels use scent free laundry products now. Voyageurs…please change your products. We had the fish and chips. It was very good last year but fishy this time. Room with double bed is pretty good. Lots of hangers which is appreciated. Counter staff don’t seem very happy to be serving customers, well one of them was but the other two didn’t seem to. They have a bbq. I should have brought some food to cook. Nice that there is a little fridge in room, Overall it’s a fairly good place but the laundry perfume really miffs me. I would have brought my own sheet too if I had of known.

World famous? Not at all. We stopped here because of all the amazing reviews about the apple fritters. We got 2 first one tasted burnt flavourless. I tried to cut off the outside and eat the inside. It still tasted burnt. The 2ed one didnt taste burnt but was flavourless maybe 3 pieces of apples inside it. They are also almost $5 a pop. Very expensive Not going to lie Tim Hortons has more flavour in their apple fritters

Those apple fritters are bigger than your head! Could barely eat ONE but OMG so good. Highly recommend if you're driving by, do yourself a favour and grab some fritters.

Half a dozen stops here over the years but never rhe rooms I can't speak to those however the restaurant service is fantastic! A great example of Northern Ontario hospitality. Food is so yummy including of course the world famous Apple fritters. Do not laugh off the serious tone that you need to come early to get them. They sell out FAST! Especially on wkds. It will be hard to find a person in that area without one in their hand. And DO go across rhe street to view the bay while you snack. The quick gas full service station is the cherry on top. You'll always see people with smiles while on location 🙂

We’ve never stayed at the Lodge as we own a cottage just down the way but have stopped in for food on occasion and it is a must stop for hot homemade food. We had the burger and fish tacos and they are superb. Fresh and delicious. The price point is what you’d expect. 17-20 for a burger. And you HAVE to get a homemade Apple fritter they are amazing! You can buy a single fritter or get a box of them but once they are sold out they are sold out! A great little spot and cute little shop as well. They also are licensed to sell liquor. Staff is very friendly. Must stop shop off of the highway.

Yelp
-FOOD- Now we didn't try any of the food instead we went to get there amazing chef's kiss Apple Fitters. They had an amazing proportion and were hot and fluffy inside! -SERVICE- the service here is definitely old fashioned, when you go to get gas someone comes and fills it up for you! And people here are extremely polite! -AMBIENCE- The ambiance here was great again the people were polite and very kind and you're right next to the bay! -OVERALL- This is my favorite Apple fitter place!and I will come any chance and one day am going to take my family here!

Yelp
Highly recommend stopping on your way through! The apple fritters are amazing! We called ahead to reserve some on a Monday morning per someone's recommendation. It wasn't necessary but could have been on a weekend day. Definitely recommend getting a warm one! The gift shop was cute. The rest of their menu looked pretty good as well, i.e. sandwiches, other baked goods.

Yelp
Huge menu and a nice spot to stop for lunch/dinner along your Northern Ontario trip! I liked the the local whitefish here. We tried their... SMOKED LAKE SUPERIOR TROUT (3.5/5) - the smoked fish was good, just wished the cream cheese was elevated with dill or something. WHITE FISH DINNER Jack's way (3.5/5) - overall the fish was fresh & yummy. The fried breading was just a tad hard & thick. The 'bannock' was more like a biscuit bread. BLUEBERRY CRIPSP (3.5/5) - hard not to like the combination of creamy vanilla ice cream & warm pie crumble...mmmmmm!! There were generous amounts of blueberries in the sweet filling too, which was less syrupy than others. It was all surrounded by a pretty doughy pie crust. APPLE FRITTER (2.5/5) - was more like a very large fluffy cinnamon cake donut with VERY few thin chunks of apple in it.

Yelp
Everything about this place was perfect from the themed decor to the service and onto the theme appropriate menu selections. Pancakes are good and served with maple syrup. The eggs, bacon and breakfast fries were all what you expect from a good breakfast joint. Service was excellent with smiles and attention at just the right moments. Very service oriented, well organized and everything put away in the right place. Would I recommend? Yes Would I return? Yes

Yelp
The is worth a planned stop when driving north or south on Hwy 17. Restaurant is features homemade diner food and friendly service. Bannock and Beans was a perfect portion for a homey and filling dinner. Burgers good, fries, cheese and gravy (poutine) is what you want as a decadent side. And of course, the homemade ice cream and homemade Apple Fritters next door. There are no better Apple Fritters in the province! No joke. Voyageur shouldn't just be a planned stop, it should be a destination.

Yelp
Clean newly renovated place to stay with your furry dog friend, there is an extra fee of $20 for the rest of your stay. Free coffee and their amazing humongous apple fritter. Its a one hour to Lake Superior Provincial park if you like a bit of luxury.

Yelp
Some locals recommended that we eat here if we were in the area. It is located across the street from Lake superior. There is a lodge adjacent to it. The restaurant has been around for a long time and it is a locals favorite. It is really an historic experience to eat here. The menu has a lot of local and comfort food items yet well-made. The three sisters soup is hearty and tasty. Trappers Jacques' Chili is thick and flavorful. The Whitefish dinner Jack's style was plenty and very good whitefish in a light panko breading. The Tourtiere was a tasty and hearty meat pie with several side items that make for a lot of food. The homemade desserts were as good as the entrees were: their famous and tasty apple fritters, the flavorful butter tarts, the thick cherry cheesecake and the delicious blueberry crisp with ice cream. What a feast!!!

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. Easy to get to. Try the pancakes w the cinnamon drizzle. They taste like cinnamon buns

Yelp
Stumbled across this restaurant while hitting some beaches across Lake Superior. Super great location, quaint dining experience, and the food was actually super good! I tried their Brie Cheese with Caramelized Onion, and it was super yummy and had an excellent appearance. My friend got a Greek Salad, and she said it was probably the best Greek Salad shes ever had. They had a wide variety of desserts, but we both found our Coconut Crème Pie and Brownie Cheesecake to be overly rich. Overall, a great place with decent prices!

Stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Had a great hamburger. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite place to stop for a warm meal, a comfy bed, and friendly service between the Soo and our fly-in camp farther north! The hotel rooms have always been clean and well maintained with hot showers, nice mattresses, and plenty of space for two or even four people in the doubles. We also love the cookhouse - they do a great job with the food and their AYCE fish on Fridays is tempting enough that, even though we're usually on our way to a fishing trip where we'll eat fish all week, I'm tempted to get it every time. Their breakfasts are also great, with the delicious omelettes probably being my favorite. I also appreciate the little general store they have on site too. It's a good last chance to pick up some more bug spray or snacks for camp. The location is great and the nice, sandy beach across the street makes for a great after-dinner walk before heading to bed. It's a great little spot and I'm sure we'll continue to stop here as long as we can!

Yelp
Super friendly service. Amazing grilled Lake Superior White Fish. Home deserts to boot. Came back a second time with my wife. White fish is excellent still, and the Blueberry Crisp is a must have.
